YouTube star after weathering many storms Laura Lee has found some peace.
“I’m in a really happy, happy place to be honest,” the 32-year-old influencer told E! News in an exclusive interview. “My followers – it’s like crazy – keep telling me like, ‘Wow, you seem a lot happier now’ and I think, ‘Yeah, I actually focus on myself, my family, my brand and focused when I take care of my business. ‘”
If you’re one of her 4 million plus subscribers on YouTube, you may have opted for updates on an important development in Laura’s personal life: getting legal guardianship for her teenage niece in January 2019 Eryn after a turbulent fight. “I started taking her on as my guardian in 2018,” she said. “Everyone who’s done this, it’s a very long, arduous, and heartbreaking process.”
Laura’s sister, who gave birth to Eryn at the age of 17, struggled with drug addiction while she and Eryn lived with Laura’s mother. In a 2019 YouTube video, Laura described Eryn’s problematic upbringing and found the teen skipped school, failed her classes, and had no parenting from Laura’s sister and mother, who was 61 at the time. Circumstances spurred the makeup guru to seek guardianship. “Unfortunately, my sister wasn’t doing very well. She was probably the worst I’ve ever seen,” Laura recalled to E! News. “I think when a kid grows up in those years it’s like the prime years and it was just a toxic environment so I did everything I could to get it out.”
Today she can breathe a sigh of relief when Eryn is with her in California. “Your life in Alabama, this environment, I was always in panic mode,” she said. “As soon as I got them under my roof, I thought, ‘We’ll be fine.'”
