Roblox is partnering with Sony Music to attach artists with money-making actions within the Metaverse

Video game platform Roblox announced this morning that it has partnered with Sony Music Entertainment that will enable the two companies to work together to create music experiences for the Roblox community, including ways that Sony Music artists can reach a new audience and generate profit.

The announcement follows last month’s news of a $ 200 million lawsuit filed by a group of music publishers claiming Roblox allowed developers to build virtual boomboxes in their games that use copyrighted music without the Permission to stream the artist or payment.

Counting is hard. Yes, when we were in kindergarten it was very easy, but fast forward a bit and suddenly you’re an adult who can’t manage to count over 10 with a weight in hand. You’re not alone! Especially if you’re doing something for higher repetitions or for more than a few sets, it’s normal to stop counting at times. Fortunately, we have a few tips to keep you updated.

Check off sets in your notebook

If your program has a certain number of sentences that you need to perform, write them down, then tick each sentence as you do it. For each set, I kept my eyes on the corresponding letter on the wall. (Switching hands also helped me stay on top of things: if I forgot if I was in the fourth or fifth set, I could tell which hand I was using.)

Use your fingers

Alternating hands mean I have a hand free even if I can’t reach that hand to make a mark or move a poker chip. But I can count on my fingers!

For kettlebell vibrations, I would do 10 swings with my right hand, then after passing the bell to my left hand, I would count “one” with my right hand (making a fist of all but one of my fingers). After switching back, I then counted “one” on my left hand. After the third sentence, the bell would be in my left hand again and my right hand would count “two”. Basically, the number of fingers on each hand tells me how many sentences that hand has already made. The very last time I move the kettlebell from my right hand to my left, my right has five fingers open; As soon as I finish the last sentence on the left, I know I made 100.

I’ve already done that during the lap run: In the first lap, my hands are open or in loose fists. After the first round I put a finger over my thumb like a sign language letter “T”. After the second round, I do two fingers, like a letter “N”, and after the third round, I do three. By the time I finish lap fourth, I’ll know I’ve covered a mile and can start over (or mark that mile with another counting method, such as putting a pebble in a pile).

Make mental chunks

Okay, we talked about keeping an eye on the sets, but what if you step back during repetitions of a single set? There my recommendation is to mentally break it up into pieces.

If you do 20 repetitions, that’s four pieces out of five. It can be helpful to imagine that each five has their own personality or place in the universe. For example, reps 1-5 hardly count; you’re just getting started Repetitions 6-10 take you to the two-digit numbers. Reps 11-15 are the first half of an incline, and 16-20 will take you to the top. When I do a set of 25, I think of the first 20 the same way, and the 21-25 reps are a bonus because I’m so great. (Yes, I probably feel like I want to die at this point; it doesn’t matter.)

Or take a set of 10 squats, for example. I like to think of these in pairs or triplets. I’ll try to do the first three reps with the same breath (since I have to breathe and support yourself in a targeted manner between repetitions). Then the next three if I can. If the weight is heavy, I may need to breathe during this second triplet, but I will reset as soon as possible. Now I’ve done six reps and can take a few breaths while deciding if I want to split the rest into another triplet and a single, or if I want to do two doubles, or, more likely, one double and two singles. This mental math keeps me on the right track, and I find it encourages me to keep going. You are more than halfway through now, I tell myself after the second piece of three pieces. Just one more hard rep and that’s the last sauce, I tell myself after eight repetitions.

This may sound like heresy, but you may not even have to count your repetitions. After all, only your lungs and muscles know how stressed they are. As long as you’ve done a good, challenging workout, you’ve done the job it needs to be done to make a profit.

That way, you don’t have to count every rep, just make sure you do enough work. One way to do this is to set a timer and just work until the time runs out. Maybe this means 30 seconds of each exercise in a circuit, or maybe you set a 7-minute timer and do as many biceps curls and triceps extensions as you can, with only as much rest as you need to keep going. Or take a page from dance classes and set your movements to music. This works especially well for cardio training – just ask anyone who’s taken a peloton class.

If you’re training for a competition that requires you to do a certain number of reps in a certain amount of time, then you definitely count! But here, too, there is a way to give your brain a break: record your sentence on video and then count the repetitions.

Much of the Federal Aviation Administration’s recalcitrant passenger reports on aircraft come from passengers who refuse to comply with mask requirements to protect against the spread of Covid-19.

About 75% of reports of recalcitrant passengers since Jan. 1 began with people refusing to wear their masks and escalated from there into profanity, screaming matches and even physical violence, the agency said on Tuesday.

The FAA introduced a “zero tolerance” policy with heavy fines earlier this year aimed at curbing unruly passengers after an increase in incidents, but that hasn’t stopped travelers from berating airlines, disrupting flights, and even two to knock teeth out of the mouth of a flight attendant.

“It’s gotten out of hand,” said Paul Hartshorn, spokesman for the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, which represents American Airlines’ more than 20,000 flight attendants. “It really gets to the point where we have to defend ourselves.”

The current federal mask requirements require travelers on trains, buses, commercial flights and at airports to wear face masks. The mandate, which was extended in the spring, currently expires on September 13th.

So far this year, the FAA has fined untrue travelers $ 682,000, identifying potential violations in 540 cases and taking enforcement actions in 83 cases.

The agency on Tuesday released the details of eight cases of recalcitrant travelers fined between $ 7,500 and $ 21,500 for disputes stemming from their refusal to wear masks, including two cases where passengers were other passengers hit.

Health officials are also warning of unnecessary travel, especially with the advent of the highly contagious Delta variant as many people vacation abroad to make up for more than a year of pandemic lockdown at home.

“Nobody says it is not safe to take a vacation, but we try to say that it is not time to open up to it completely,” said Ryan.

The agency said it plans to seek proposals for the contract from both Amazon and Microsoft, adding that they are the only cloud service providers that can meet their needs. But, it added, it will continue to do market research to see if others could meet its specifications as well.

The lucrative JEDI contract was intended to modernize the IT operations of the Pentagon for services provided for up to 10 years. Microsoft received the cloud computing contract in 2019, beating the market leader Amazon Web Services.

A month later, Amazon’s cloud computing unit AWS filed a lawsuit in the US federal court to protest the JEDI decision.

The company argued that President Donald Trump’s bias towards Amazon and its then CEO Jeff Bezos influenced the Pentagon to give the contract to Microsoft.

Last year the Pentagon Inspector General released a report that the award did not appear to have been influenced by the White House.

However, the Inspector General noted in the 313-page report released in April 2020 that he had had limited cooperation with White House officials throughout his review and was therefore unable to complete his assessment of the ethical misconduct allegations.

Microsoft said in a blog post on Tuesday it understood the Pentagon’s decision to terminate the JEDI contract, but said the litigation over it showed the need for reform.

LONDON – Since the coronavirus pandemic began, many countries have passed laws forcing people to wear face masks and covers in public places to stop the virus from spreading.

While face masks are not uncommon for some and have been accepted without objection, a vocal minority have railed against what they see as a restriction on their personal freedom. Face coverings proponents cite studies showing they prevent the spread of Covid-19, potentially saving lives.

Now that countries are easing restrictions, wearing face masks – or not – seems to remain an equally controversial issue.

The mask wearing debate heated up in England on Monday after the UK government announced that it would become a “personal responsibility” issue rather than a legal requirement following the planned lifting of Covid restrictions on July 19th would be.

The move immediately provoked a strong reaction from people on both sides of the divide, who soon went to Twitter to share their views.

On Tuesday morning, the hashtag #WearAMask was trending on the social media site, with MPs, medical professionals and the public debating whether they will (or should better) wear face-covering after the restrictions end.

Masks were not initially recommended as part of standard public health advice, but after studies suggesting masks might help prevent virus transmission, the World Health Organization updated its guidelines in June 2020 to recommend that governments urge everyone , in public areas where there is a risk of Covid transmission.

Currently in England face masks or covers are required to be worn in all indoor public spaces such as shops, supermarkets, theaters, museums and on public transport, unless a person is exempt from it on medical grounds. The UK police have the power to fine anyone who does not wear a mask of £ 200 (US $ 277).

For and against

The UK government’s plans to lift masks rules have received widespread praise from Conservative Party lawmakers, especially those who have been vehemently opposed to stringent Covid restrictions given the impact on the economy and livelihoods.

New Forest West Conservative MP Desmond Swayne was among those who expressed support for the plan, telling CNBC Tuesday that he believes wearing masks to prevent the spread of disease ” marginal at best ”and that it was more of a means of“ public reassurance and control ”.

“You [masks] have significant social and psychological disadvantages, “he added.” It has always struck me as pretty incredible, in a free society, that we should be instructed on what to wear and punished for not doing so. Your status as of July 19th is correct: a matter of personal choice. “

Swayne and others, who see the imposition of masks as an affront to civil liberties, represent one side of the debate, and protests have been held in the UK against Covid measures, including the wearing of masks.

But there are many on the other side of the debate who argue that it is a civic duty to wear a mask and to stop the spread of a virus that has now killed over 3.9 million people worldwide, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Following the UK government’s announcement on Monday, the Unite union, opposition Labor Party and some health experts were quick to express concern or criticism of the plan, saying it was risky at a time when the Delta variant is causing a spike in Covid cases . both in England and beyond.

Unite, which represents many public transport workers, said removing face covers as a requirement was “an act of gross negligence by the government” and Labor leader Keir Starmer described the move as “inconsiderate”. Some companies have already said that face masks will still be required for customers, such as airlines Ryanair and easyJet.

The US attitude

England, of course, is not alone in the public debate over face masks, the US sees a similar divide as well. Unlike in England, however, the rules in the USA vary from state to state. Masks are required in some states, and others follow the latest guidelines from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In May, the CDC stated that in most environments, whether outdoors or indoors, the CDC stated that although it noted some nuances of the guidelines (e.g., healthcare), they no longer need to wear face masks or stay away from others. . or in a store that needs it).

The CDC also noted that those fully vaccinated must continue to wear masks on airplanes, buses, trains, and other public transport.

However, in June the World Health Organization urged fully vaccinated people to continue wearing masks as the highly contagious Delta variant quickly spread around the world.

“People can’t feel safe just because they got the two doses. They still need to protect themselves,” said Dr. Mariangela Simao, WHO deputy director general for access to medicines and health products, added that a “vaccine alone does not” stop community transmission. “

What will Boris Johnson do?

Health professionals, especially those advising the UK government, arguably find themselves in a difficult position when it comes to wearing masks.

While the UK vaccination campaign has helped break the link between infections and hospital stays and deaths, cases are increasing in younger and not-yet-fully vaccinated age groups, leading the government to increase the final stage of vaccination for all UK adults accelerate. Over 27,000 new Covid cases were registered on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the UK to over 4.9 million.

Asked at the government press conference if they would continue to wear masks themselves, medical experts advising Prime Minister Boris Johnson said under certain circumstances.

“The first is in any situation that is indoors and overcrowded, or indoors with close proximity to other people. And that’s because masks protect other people, ”said England’s Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty.

He added, “The second situation is if I was asked to do so by a competent authority … and the third reason is if someone else felt uncomfortable with me not wearing a mask – as a courtesy.”

What about Johnson? When asked if he would continue to wear a mask once the restrictions were lifted (a final decision will be made on July 12), he said “it will depend on the circumstances.”

“Obviously, there is a huge difference between being on a crowded subway train and sitting in a practically empty car on the main line late at night,” said Johnson.

“We want people to take their personal responsibility seriously, but don’t forget the value of face coverings to protect themselves and others.
