Windows users with Nvidia graphics cards should update their display drivers immediately to resolve several problematic (and potentially crash-causing) errors.

Nvidia is new Security bulletin outlines thirteen major vulnerabilities; Five are related to Nvidia’s display drivers and eight are included in Nvidia’s vGPU software. While all thirteen pose serious threats, the five display driver errors pose the greatest risk for regular users as they affect all Windows and Linux PCs with an Nvidia GPU.

• CVE-2021-1074: 7.5 CVSS Rating. Allows local attackers with physical access to your PC to tamper with the Nvidia installer. The attack could use this vulnerability to execute malicious code, steal your data, or perform a denial of service attack.
• CVE-2021-1075: 7.3 CVSS rating. A memory issue in Nvidia’s Windows display driver that leaves your PC open to various malware attacks and remote access.
• CVE-2021-1076: 6.6 CVSS rating. An issue in Windows and Linux drivers that could allow hackers to access, steal, and / or damage your PC’s data, and use denial-of-service attacks.
• CVE-2021-1077: 6.6 CVSS rating. Another problem in Windows and Linux drivers that can be used to launch denial-of-service attacks.
• CVE-2021-1078: 5.5 CVSS rating. A problem in the Windows drivers that can lead to sudden PC crashes.

Nvidia released an emergency patch last week to address these vulnerabilities. You can download the updated drivers from the GeForce Experience app or simply download the installation file from Nvidia’s download page.

Of the eight vGPU software errors, four are fatal and have a CVSS rating of 7.8. The others range from 5.1 to 7.5 CVSS threat levels. They allow several possible outcomes, such as: B. Attacks on privilege escalation, arbitrary code execution, information disclosure, data manipulation, denial-of-service attacks, memory corruption and much more. These are serious threats too, but only affect those who license Nvidia’s vGPU software.

At this time of year, the sky offers welcome visual treats for mere mortals on the ground. Maybe you’re thirsting for the next big thing in the cosmos, given that Lyrids have come and gone this month and the pink Super moon has already subsided into a less breathtaking phase.

Don’t despair: space offers more reasons to venture outside in the wee hours of the morning to see another show that’s been in full swing since April 19: the Eta Aquarid meteor shower. This special shower comes from the legendary Halley’s Comet and lets burning fragments of rock and ice shoot through the cosmos 148,000 miles per hour.

Don’t worry, you can still see these very fast-paced space rocks if you follow normal stargazing protocol – especially if you live in a more southern latitude.

What are the Eta Aquarids?

They come from Halley’s Comet, which itself is only visible from Earth every 76 years. Due to Halley’s icy, gaseous, and dusty composition, parts of the comet flake off each April and May when the Earth crosses its orbital path, creating this particular shower. The shower is at a breakneck pace, but luckily for stargazers, the meteors leave “ionized gas trails that glow for a few seconds after passing the meteor”. according to Earthsky.

Halley’s comet actually has another meteor shower that presents itself in October, the Orionids. However, the Eta Aquarids will perform from April 19 to May 28 this year, with their peak occurring on Thursday May 5

How to see the Eta Aquarids

The meteors come from their ray, the constellation Aquarius. In particular, the star of origin of the meteor is Eta Aquarii, which can be found in the Y-shaped asterism “water jug” in the northern part of Aquarius. Earthsky points out.

It is not essential that you locate the beam of a meteor shower to see it, as rocks shooting through the sky usually cover an area wide enough to peek just by looking up . However, the peak of the radiator indicates when a meteor shower will peak. Earthsky explains how this works in relation to this particular shower:

For the Eta-Aquariids, radiation rises highest in the night sky shortly before sunrise. This is why you can expect to see most of the meteors early in the morning.

Although the other meteor showers that occurred this year were prime observation for people in northern latitudes, the Eta Aquarids are most visible to people in the southern hemisphere (although they are still visible to people in the northern hemisphere).

In other words, if you live in the American South or Southwest, you’re getting prime views. But no matter where you live, the show will still be visible, albeit less dazzling. NASA notes that the shower typically sends 10 meteors an hour across the sky in the northern hemisphere, but that could get as high as 20 in more southerly areas.

The best way to see the show is to venture outside late at night. Earthsky notes that the shower technically peaks in the late evening while the radiation is still relatively low, but subsides as the radiation moves higher in the sky:

Late in the evening is the best time to see earth eaters, meteors that make exceptionally long streaks across your sky. When the radiation rises higher – that is, when the hours of the night pass before dawn – you see shorter meteors, but more meteors.

As usual, avoid light pollution and look up if you decide to wander outside of the visual feast.

If all the camps closed last summer, this summer is the time to find out how to keep them open. While we are completing a school year mostly focused on schools trying to figure out how to get kids back into class as safely as possible, parents are looking forward to a summer that hopefully feels a little more normal than last summer – and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is on time with its updated summer camp guidelines.

Things open up again and the general restrictions loosen up as more adults are vaccinated. However, children under the age of 16 are still not entitled to their own shot, and new variants of the virus are emerging and circulating. Therefore, many precautionary measures must be taken in day and overnight camps this summer.

General guidelines

The CDC guidelines recommend grouping campers and employees into “cohorts” that stay together throughout the day. Once sorted, here they are Physical distancing recommendations::

• At least 3 feet between all campers within a cohort
• At least 6 feet between all campers outside of their cohort
• At least 6 feet when eating and drinking, even among people within the same cohort
• At least 6 feet between campers and staff
• At least 6 feet between employees

Masks should be worn by everyone except when they are eating, drinking, napping (when children should be as far apart as possible, from head to toe), or swimming (a wet mask can make breathing difficult and may not work anyway) .

Outdoor activities are highly recommended whenever possible. Whenever this is not possible, the CDC emphasizes the importance of ventilating indoor areas by opening doors and windows, using fans, and reducing occupancy (this applies to both facilities and any camp transport vehicles used). Sports and other sporting activities should be carried out outdoors whenever possible. The CDC advises against indoor and close-contact sports, and says players should wear masks when they are six feet apart.

Other typical camp activities that may produce droplets of breath should be done outdoors, with masks on, and at a distance of two meters. This includes singing, singing and screaming.

The guidelines also emphasize the limitation of common objects. The items of each motorhome should be kept separate and in individual, labeled containers or cubes. Staff and campers should be encouraged to bring their own water from home to limit the use of water fountains. Campers should also have more than one mask so that a dirty mask can easily be replaced with a clean mask.

Overnight camp

In addition to all of this, the CDC has additional recommendations for overnight camps. They suggest that camps encourage eligible staff, volunteers, campers, and family members to get fully vaccinated (ideally at least two weeks before traveling to camp). They recommend unvaccinated campers and staff to quarantine themselves for two weeks before arriving. Campers and staff who are not fully vaccinated should have a negative virus test done no more than three days prior to arrival.

Once they arrive, campers should be screened for symptoms and assigned to cohorts that stay together and distance themselves from other cohorts. Campers and staff sleeping in the same room should be viewed as a “household cohort” and do not need to mask or socially disassociate themselves from one another unless someone from outside the cohort is present. When different cohorts come together outdoors or indoors, everyone should practice the usual recommendations on masking, physical distancing, and healthy hygiene.

Once you’ve updated to iOS 14.5 and started clips, tap the colorful star icon in the lower right corner to start the augmented reality scan. That sounds a lot wilder than it actually is. You simply move your phone around the room to capture everything it can see, including the floors, walls, and objects that might otherwise hinder your dance moves. You will be asked to check when you feel you have scanned enough. You can always check this by moving your phone and watching how this affects the holodeck-like pattern you are viewing.

Unlike my example above, make sure you’ve scanned the blank space before you, your friends, or your pets come across it. Otherwise, their bodies will be viewed as an object that the augmented reality system must bypass. If they go away, you’ll have a topic-sized blob in your video that doesn’t look very good.
