What you need to find out about “stablecoins”, the “bridge” between cryptocurrencies and conventional cash

(NEW YORK) – In the exploding realm of cryptocurrencies, a new line of financial products has emerged that has attracted the attention of both investors and regulators – so-called “stablecoins” backed by cash or other currency reserves.

Stablecoins try to offer the best of both worlds: the stability of a traditional, government-backed currency, and the privacy and convenience that crypto transactions offer. They are often marketed to investors who may not have a stomach for the volatility associated with Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other popular cryptos – which are known to see large increases in value every day.

The existing stablecoins market is worth approximately $ 113 billion, said Gary Gensler, chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, earlier this month during a speech at the Aspen Security Forum. He added that in July, almost three-quarters of trading on all crypto trading platforms was between a stablecoin and another token.

Even social media giant Facebook is trying to get in on the action, trying to launch its own stablecoin-like project after its initial attempts at cryptocurrency Libra failed.

As stablecoins have grown in popularity recently, they have also drawn a new scrutiny from government agencies and regulators. According to a reading released earlier this week, Federal Reserve officials reflected on the threats posed by “new financial deals like stablecoins” and raised concerns about the lack of transparency and regulation.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen also last month urged regulators to “act quickly” in creating new regulatory frameworks for stablecoins, warning of their “potential risks to end users, the financial system and national security.”

Here’s what experts say investors should know about the novel class of cryptos that have dominated headlines for the past few weeks.

What are stablecoins?
Stablecoins are essentially cryptocurrencies that are backed by a reserve value – usually a traditional currency such as the US dollar. The valuations of stablecoins should therefore be less volatile than other digital currencies, as they are directly linked to a fixed, non-virtual currency.

“Think of stablecoin as a cryptocurrency with no or limited volatility. That’s the best way to think about it, “Haran Segram, professor of finance at New York University’s Stern School of Business, told ABC News, adding that they are sometimes viewed as a” bridge between fiat currencies and cryptocurrencies. ” . Fiat currencies are traditional currencies like the dollar that are supported by the government.

“Stablecoins are backed by other central bank currencies,” Segram explained.

Bryan Routledge, associate professor of finance at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business, added that this makes stablecoins more useful as everyday currency.

“For example, the price of Bitcoin is just incredibly volatile,” he told ABC News. “That makes it difficult to use as a currency.” Bitcoin’s value surged 100% in 2021 alone – starting the year at less than $ 30,000, it peaked over $ 63,000 in April, before hitting back to $ 30,000 in July. Dollar mark declined. On Friday, Bitcoin was trading at just over $ 46,000.

“If I tell you that a latte costs $ 2.50, you know what that means – but when I quote a price for a latte in Bitcoin, it is really hard to keep track because it is on you Day equals $ 2.50, the next day it’s equivalent to $ 25, ”he added.

The pegging of cryptocurrencies to a fixed exchange rate relative to the US dollar, as stablecoins attempt, makes them “more useful as a currency,” according to Routledge.

“It’s a stablecoin because they call it a stablecoin”
While this may sound like an overall positive trend to everyday investors interested in crypto, experts and authorities are warning of lurking risks associated with the largely untested stablecoin market.

Segram noted that one of the most popular stablecoins on the market is Tether, which claims to be backed one-to-one against the US dollar.

“The problem with this is that they did some research and then they actually found that one unit of this stablecoin was backed by $ 0.74,” Segram said. “So things like this, what people say it’s a stablecoin, maybe not really a stablecoin.”

“Investors and your audience should be aware of this,” he told ABC News. “Because people don’t know exactly what’s going on behind the scenes, and I really want to encourage your readers to be aware of that.”

New York Attorney General Letitia James’s office opened an investigation into Tether which found there were times when Tether had no access to banking and “did not hold a dollar per tether to secure the circulating Tether, contrary to his representations. ”As part of an agreement with James’ office, Tether is excluded from doing business with New Yorkers, but admitted no wrongdoing and promised more transparency. However, the Hong Kong-based company still claims on its website that Tether tokens are “100% covered by Tether’s reserves” at a conversion rate of one Tether token equal to one US dollar.

“Under the terms of the settlement, we do not admit any wrongdoing,” Tether said in a statement on his website in response to the investigation. “The settlement amount we have pledged to pay to the Attorney General should be viewed as a measure of our desire to leave this matter behind and focus on our business.” The company added that it is about the ” Customer Loyalty, ”said Tethern’s market cap has increased from $ 2 billion to over $ 34 billion over the past two years during the ongoing investigation.

“Tether is complicated because it’s an international business,” added Routledge, asking about who regulates it. “Cryptocurrencies, one of their charms or weaknesses, is that they do not come under anyone’s direct jurisdiction.”

For most stablecoins, it’s “a stablecoin because they call it stablecoin,” added Routledge.

Despite the pledge of cash reserves, there is a risk that some stablecoins will operate on the assumption that the likelihood of simultaneous liquidation is low if confidence remains high.

“If everyone thinks Tether is going to be a stablecoin, it will work as a stablecoin and the few people who have to exchange it in the ‘Tether Store’ to be slang would do that,” he said. “The problem with this policy is that you can get what currency economists would call a speculative attack, which is that we believe Tether doesn’t have enough money, and I think everyone thinks they’ll all point and demand These currencies – it’s a bit of a run on the bank. “

“That makes it really hard to stabilize because your credibility as a stablecoin makes it stable, and that’s inherently volatile,” he said.

Why the Fed and Yellen are so concerned about stablecoins
Yellen’s calls for swift action to create a regulatory framework for stablecoins have been taken up by other lawmakers.

Stablecoins were also recently debated by Fed officials who “highlighted the fragility and general lack of transparency surrounding stablecoins” at their recent meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee. “The importance of close monitoring and the need to develop an appropriate regulatory framework to address all financial stability risks associated with such products.”

Segram said that while stablecoins can self-regulate to some extent by being transparent to the public, I think Yellen is calling for more top-down regulation than it is voluntary.

That could mean keeping the reserve currency in an independent location or regularly reviewing claims, he added.

Segram added that meanwhile, the Fed may have other concerns about stablecoin growth.

“If stablecoins become popular, the central bank will lose its control,” said Segram, noting that there had been discussions about a stablecoin-like “Central Bank Digital Currency” to be issued by the Federal Reserve.

A central bank digital currency would give the Fed more control over “how we manage demand, supply and all other means,” Segram said.

Routledge added that the Fed may also be concerned about a “bank panic” situation with lots of assets flowing through a given stablecoin.

“If for any reason this stablecoin is in shock – it may be a systemic event for the financial system,” he added. “That’s what the Fed has on its radar.”

Meanwhile, during his remarks in Aspen earlier this month, SEC chairman Gensler signaled that the regulations could be cracked down.

Gensler said the use of stablecoins on crypto trading platforms “can help those trying to circumvent a variety of public goals related to our traditional banking and financial system: anti-money laundering, tax compliance, sanctions and the like”.

“This also affects our national security,” he added. Gensler said he looks forward to working with regulators and lawmakers on these matters.

Despite the risks, Segram sees cryptocurrencies as the future, which could be in part why regulators are ringing the alarm bells and why there is so much discussion about a potential central bank digital currency. Large US companies like Amazon and Walmart recently announced they would be hiring cryptocurrency experts, and a growing number of companies are accepting cryptos as a means of payment.

China’s central bank has already launched its digital yuan, he added, saying that the US will most likely step in at some point if it does not want to lose its status as the “reserve currency of the world”.

“If a stablecoin is issued by a private agency, it is not 100% fail-safe,” he said. “In a democracy like ours or other democracies, in which there is a certain political stability and currency stability, a digital central bank currency could be the right way to go.”

“I think of stablecoin as a kind of link between fiat currencies and cryptocurrencies, that takes that to another level,” he said.

Tips on how to write a helpful unfavorable overview

We all know that poorly written reviews online are of no use to anyone but the people who write them angrily. But every now and then you may find yourself in a situation that calls for constructive criticism. Whether you’re reviewing an Amazon purchase, a restaurant, or a former employer, your basic review writing strategy should stay the same: make it readable and useful. That’s how it’s done.

Describe what happened – and what should have happened

If you are considering writing a bad review, you will likely be motivated by at least one specific experience. That should be your focus. First, clearly and objectively describe what happened and stick to the facts – in other words, don’t make up shit. If you’re still feeling excited about your experience, keep it under wraps.

Next, describe what should have happened in the moment, not what you want to do in response or what you think you ought to do. This is an important difference because it is basically a test to see if your complaint persists. With legitimate complaints, it’s super easy to say what should have happened: Your former boss should have kept his rough comments to himself, Amazon should have billed you once and not twice for a single item, the server and the cook should have left supposed to get the peanut sauce off the plate after learning you are allergic, and so on. But for small beefs that make you feel under-cared for, the “right” course of action will either not exist or be so outrageous that you might as well start your review with “Please don’t take what I say” Serious! I work my way through some personal problems in an unhealthy and ultimately unproductive way! “

Get to the point

Verbose, overly long reviews are as unhelpful as they get, so keep yours short and to the point. This will allow a human to read and absorb what is being said, which is the whole point of writing a review. As a bonus, sticking to short, declarative sentences also makes it impossible for you to make a tirade lest you come across as a despised narcissist trying at all costs to get your way. (Even in situations where emotional outbursts are perfectly reasonable responses, they can undermine your point of view.)

The bottom line: if you really want your review to make a difference, it has to be as pointed and easy to read as possible. Tell the truth, substantiate and close your case; whoever reads it at the end will appreciate the effort.

FDA grants full approval for Pfizer-BioNTech’s Covid vaccine

0

The Food and Drug Administration on Monday granted the Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech full approval – as the first in the US to receive the coveted award and even more companies, schools and universities have more confidence in accepting vaccine mandates gives.

To date, the mRNA vaccine, marketed as Comirnaty, has been available on the US market under an Emergency Use Authorization issued by the FDA in December. Since then, more than 204 million Pfizer shots have been administered, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Federal health officials have been under increasing pressure from the scientific community and stakeholders to fully approve Pfizer and BioNTech’s vaccine since drug makers filed their applications with the agency in early May. The companies filed for approval with the FDA for biologics for patients 16 years and older on May 7, ensuring full approval.

According to the US agency, FDA scientists have evaluated “hundreds of thousands of pages” of vaccine data.

Pfizer’s vaccine met “the agency’s high standards of safety, efficacy and manufacturing quality,” said Acting FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock in a statement. “While millions of people have already safely received COVID-19 vaccines, we recognize that FDA approval of a vaccine may now create additional confidence for some to be vaccinated.”

The FDA will hold a media briefing on Monday at 11 a.m. to discuss approval.

Although more than 60% of the entire US population has received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine, many Americans say they are still reluctant to get vaccinated even if the highly contagious Delta variant spreads. Full approval could convince some Americans the shots are safe, doctors and epidemiologists say. In fact, a survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that 3 in 10 unvaccinated adults said they would be more likely to be vaccinated if one of the vaccines got full approval.

Full approval was “more psychological than anything,” said Dr. Paul Offit, a voting member of the Agency’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee. “I mean, you’ve already given more than 320 million doses out there. The vaccines already have tremendous safety and efficacy profiles.”

US approval is also likely to kick off a new wave of US vaccine mandates. Big companies – from Walt Disney to Walmart – have already told some or all of their employees that they need to get a full Covid vaccination this fall. Still, despite having legal authority to do so, some private companies may be reluctant to request the shots before full approval, said Dorit Reiss, a law professor at UC Hastings College of the Law.

The Pentagon said it will make vaccinations mandatory for service members “no later than” by mid-September, or sooner if the FDA grants full approval earlier.

“You will see the strengthening of local businesses that are mandating what could be colleges, universities, offices, etc., and I strongly support that,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci, Chief Medical Officer of the White House, on Aug. 8, when asked about full approval of the vaccines. “The time has come … we have to take the extra step to get people vaccinated.”

Pfizer’s shot is the first Covid vaccine to receive full regulatory approval in the U.S. Federal regulators had previously announced that they would work as soon as possible to clear Pfizer’s vaccines.

Standard vaccination tests generally take several months to a year or more to determine if they are safe and effective for the general public. But due to the pandemic that killed more than 628,000 Americans, the FDA has approved the use of the shots under an EUA.

In the event of a public health emergency, the manufacture and approval of vaccines can be streamlined through emergency authorizations. Former Health Minister Alex Azar declared a health emergency on January 31, 2020. The health emergency was renewed several times, most recently at the end of July. The FDA allowed the shots to be used under an EUA with just two months of safety data. It’s not the same as a biologics license application or a full approval application that requires at least six months of data.

Before granting full approval, FDA scientists must carefully review the companies’ clinical trial data, including for inconsistencies or safety concerns, said Offit, who is also director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

It’s a lot of data, Offit said. He previously said when Merck presented its data from its 70,000-person rotavirus vaccine study, the pages generated may have exceeded the height of the Sears Tower – a 1,450-foot tall skyscraper in Chicago now known as the Willis Tower.

“The FDA will do what it thinks it must do to make sure the American public is safe,” he said.

Full approval is also very beneficial for filing companies, said former FDA commissioner Dr. Robert Califf in a phone interview in May.

Pfizer and BioNTech can now market the shots directly to US consumers. Companies cannot advertise their products under an EEA, he said. It also allows the shot to stay in the market once the pandemic is over and the US is no longer viewed as an “emergency”.

“The vaccines must continue to be given under the supervision of a qualified professional,” said Califf. “It’s not that they can send the vaccines home. They can, however, advertise on television and promote their products under the watchful eye of the FDA.”

Pfizer and BioNTech have announced they will generate billions from the vaccine. If fully approved, companies could also decide to charge more for the vaccines, health experts say.

According to the Financial Times, companies have already raised the price of their vaccine in the European Union. They are now charging $ 23 per dose, up from their previous price of $ 18.40, according to the report.

Pfizer and BioNTech also plan to ask the FDA to approve a third dose as a booster after full approval. Last week the Biden administration said it was preparing to offer booster shots to all eligible Americans from the week of September 20th.

Stocks were higher in early Monday trading after a volatile week on Wall Street as investors targeted a major event where the Federal Reserve could point to prospects for stimulus tapering.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 150 points, or nearly 0.5%. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also gained about 0.5%.

Vaccine manufacturers’ stocks trade higher after the Food and Drug Administration granted full approval for the Pfizer-BioNTech two-dose Covid-19 vaccine on Monday. Pfizer stock is up about 3% and shares of its partner BioNTech are up 8%.

Bitcoin hit a three-month high on Sunday, hitting over $ 50,000, pulling crypto-related stocks higher. Coinbase and Microstrategy are 2% higher.

Key averages are declining after a lost week as investors worried that the Fed’s potential move to withdraw monetary stimulus could slow the economic recovery already being challenged by the spread of the Delta-Covid-19 variant .

Traders are eagerly awaiting the Jackson Hole Symposium for guidance on the Fed’s schedule to withdraw from its $ 120 billion monthly bond purchase program. The event takes place virtually on Thursday and Friday. The Fed previously wanted to hold the event in a mixed virtual and live presentation, but decided on Friday to go completely virtual in view of the rising virus risk.

Chairman Jerome Powell’s speech will be titled “The Economic Outlook,” which may suggest the speech may have a shorter-term focus, “Nomura economist Aichi Amemiya said in a note.

“Given the recent deterioration in incoming data and the pandemic situation, we see some risk that Powell will focus on the increased uncertainty due to the recent surge in COVID-19,” added Amemiya. “At least we see recent comments from Fed officials as support for our view of a December throttling announcement despite a FOMC preference for November from the July meeting.”

The blue-chip Dow fell 1.1% last week while the S&P 500 was down nearly 0.6%, breaking a two-week winning streak. Tech-heavy Nasdaq lost 0.7% over the week.

“We suspect that investor beliefs are being challenged by the potential for impending monetary policy changes, changing growth and value rotations, and increasing development of new coronavirus cases,” said Craig Johnson, technical market strategist at Piper Sandler, in a note .

CNBC Pro Stock Pick and Investment Trends:

For the month of August, the major benchmarks will post modest gains. The S&P 500 is up 1.1% for the month to date, while the blue-chip Dow is up 0.5% and the Nasdaq is up 0.3%.

“August is a historically volatile month for the markets and this year is no different as investors are currently climbing multiple walls of worry,” said Rod von Lipsey, managing director of UBS Private Wealth Management. “Upward trends in Covid-19 cases and a downward spiral in Afghanistan are leading to a crisis of confidence at a time when many investors are on vacation.”

Why you should not wash your asshole with cleaning soap

Diet, bowel movements, and sexual activity can all affect your rectum health. However, what we don’t often consider is how we wash our bums. Excessive wiping can hurt, but so can soaps – especially fragrant ones. This is how you wash your ass, according to the experts.

How to wash your ass right

How often you clean your bum and what you use to clean it can cause this terrible conditions such as itching, abscesses, and anal fissures. DR. Navya Msyore, a GP, cites anal health as one of the most discussed topics with her patients because unfortunately most people do not realize they are cleaning their asses the wrong way.

“It’s the best way to keep it simple,” says Dr. Msyore, “lukewarm water to wash the area and be sure to wash once a day.” If you don’t want to go into the shower, you can do the job with a warm washcloth or a simple wipe of warm water. However, it is important that the cloth or towel is fragrance-free and does not contain any chemicals or fragrances that can irritate the rectum.

Why you shouldn’t use soap between your cheeks

Basically, soap can dry out your anus and cause irritation, like Dr. Msyore explains. “If we irritate the skin, tiny tiny micro-cracks can appear in the area,” she said. “If that happens, you could potentially get an infection.” Instead, if you want to use soap, only do so once or twice a week and use a mild soap with no fragrances or additives. You should still wash your ass every day, mostly with just water.

How to wipe your bum and when to stop wiping

One of the most important factors in anal hygiene is the way you wipe yourself, and the amount and hardness of your wipe.

“One of the main risk factors for UTIs is wiping in the wrong direction,” says Dr. Msyore. “They actually bring a lot of the feces that is there into the genitals and the genital area can then become infected.” Front-to-back wiping removes the fecal bacteria from the genitals, which is what you want.

At the same time, excessive wiping can be just as harmful. Much like soap dries out the anus, excessive wiping can irritate the skin and cause small cracks or anal fissures. Dr. Msyore mentions that wiping six to ten times is considered excessive, depending on how much toilet paper you use.

Why you should get a hose attachment for your bidet

A bidet seems like the logical solution, but Dr. Msyore explains how bidets have various properties that can also irritate the skin, including perfumes and varying water pressures, some of which can spray with excessive water pressure that can spread feces. The spray can “similarly pose a risk of urinary tract infections if bacteria are transferred to other areas,” she says. The trick is to use bidets with a hand hose to control water pressure and flow direction.

Bluetooth headphones by no means provide the greatest sound high quality

0

Image for the article titled bluetooth headphones will never give you the best sound quality

Photo: Fadhli Adnan (Shutterstock)

There are a few great bluetooth headphones out there. AirPods Pro, Sony WF-1000XM4, and Jabra Elite Active 75t dominate the earphone market, while the Sony WH-1000XM4 and Bose noise canceling headphones 700 are among the best of the over-the-ear variant. As good as all of these headphones sound in a myriad of situations, they’ll never sound as good as wired headphones. Here’s why.

Streaming services have recently made the game better in terms of audio quality. Tidal was one of the first providers to offer FLAC-based lossless streaming in CD quality at an additional cost, but only last year did other services such as Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Spotify (soon to be released) offer similar, high-lossless services Bitrate, all for the same cost as you had before.

What is audio quality really?

If these keywords don’t mean anything to you, here is a deeper explanation: Like all digital products, digital music consists of digital information (1s and 0s). The more information you can put in a file, the better your audio will sound. Ideally, you want as much information as possible so that you can enjoy the full experience of this particular route.

However, information takes up space; The more information a file contains, the more space it takes up and the more demanding the streaming becomes. To solve this problem, streaming services compress files or remove information. It’s strategic; Remove enough information to reduce the file size, but keep enough so that most people don’t notice the deterioration in the quality of their music.

This is what we are referring to when we talk about bit rate; it’s just the amount of data that can be transferred with a given file. When a file is at a higher bit rate, it can carry more information, which often results in better quality. If it is at a lower bitrate, it will transmit less, resulting in poorer quality.

G / O Media can receive a commission

Lossless streaming avoids most of this compression to give you a listening experience that is as close as possible to the original recording material. And now that almost every popular streaming service has this lossless listening experience, you should be able to enjoy it with any headphones you have, right?

Why wireless can’t keep up with wired headphones

That’s the deal; Bluetooth, the technology that connects wireless headphones to your hearing aid, has a limited bit rate that it can handle. It doesn’t matter if you set your streaming service like Apple Music to play losslessly as these files will be compressed to suit the capabilities of this bluetooth device.

That’s not to say your music will sound bad, quite the contrary. For example, Apple Music uses the AAC Bluetooth codec to play music through Bluetooth headphones, which can be reached at 256 kbps. Spotify has a maximum bit rate of 320 kbps. These bit rates will sound great on your bluetooth headphones.

Even Sony’s crown jewel, the WF-1000XM4, has a maximum bit rate of 990 kbps. While that’s roughly three times the bit rate of traditional Bluetooth audio, it’s still not enough for lossless.

Wired headphones, on the other hand, do not have this compression problem. They can handle the full signal from your listening device, and in some cases it’s the listening device that your headphones can’t handle. Some headphones require extra power to fully appreciate their quality.

This is where a device like a DAC comes in that provides extra power to support both the quality of the file and the quality of the headphones. You need a DAC, for example, to be able to enjoy the highest bit rates from Apple Music losslessly, regardless of the type of wired headphones you have.

Not all wired headphones are created equal

To be fair, there are a variety of wired headphones out there. Just because a cable is plugged into a pair of headphones doesn’t mean it instantly sounds better than your AirPods.

Many wireless earbuds and headphones have technology that makes them sound amazing. A cheap pair of non-functional wired headphones may be able to pick up the lossless signals your streaming service is sending out, but it’s likely that your AirPods will sound much better in their compressed format. It’s not just the bit rate, it’s the way these headphones produce the sound.

Perhaps one day wireless technology will reach the point where we can send lossless signals straight into our ears. But for now, this technology will be relegated to wired headphones.

The Completely different Pruning Methods And Why Each Gardener Ought to Know Them

Photo: Krisana Antharith (Shutterstock)

There are a variety of reasons you might want to prune your plants or trees, from keeping them a certain shape or size to promoting fuller growth and more buds. But before you start pruning, take some time to learn about the different types of pruning and how they can produce different results.

How to circumcise by pinching

Pinch involves using two fingers to remove the head of a plant to encourage stronger growth. When the stem and top leaf are pinched away, it signals the plant to sprout more stems and leaves to compensate for this. As a result, the leaves become fuller to capture more sun and create extra buds and stems. (You can also pinch a plant to get the size you want.)

When should you use deadheading and topping?

Deadheading is similar to pinching in that you can use the two-finger method – or you can use scissors or scissors. When cutting, trim or pinch as close as possible to the base of the head, where it meets the next leaf shoot. This technique completely removes the seed pod to allow the plant to grow fuller and, more specifically, to allow the flowers to produce more buds for longer. This type of pruning of trees is called topping.

G / O Media can receive a commission

Topping and deadheading are taken into account highly stressful forms of plant care. Texas A & M’s Earth Kind Landscaping describes topping as “the process of cutting a tree back to a few large branches. After 2 to 3 months, regrowth on a crowned tree is vigorous, bushy, and upright. ”It has the potential for significant gains, but if not done properly, it can compromise the strength of the tree. So proceed with caution.

How to thin out your bushes

When it comes to maintaining the size of a plant while promoting growth, thinning is ideal for shrubs and trees. Thinning cuts off smaller branches to determine the size of the shrub and focus the plants’ energy on their main branches. To thin out a plant, cut off the smaller branch at the “crotch” (or Y-section) of the tree. Watch gardeners Catherine Moravec demonstrate this in a YouTube video for Colorado Yard Care.

Shrubs should be thinned through Cut off smaller branches at the base just above the ground. This leaves more room for the other branches to grow and more oxygen and light to get through to the larger branches and leaves.

When to sculpt and too sheer

Sometimes you just prune because you want a plant or tree to grow in a particular direction, or to keep its shape or size. You can reshape a plant or tree with scissors or clippers – or sometimes even power chainsaws – to reshape Cut off smaller leaves or branches in a certain pattern. this Method is common on hedges, dwarf trees and evergreen plants.

SINGAPORE – The United States’ primary focus in Afghanistan is currently on evacuating American citizens, Afghan allies and vulnerable groups following the return of the Taliban to power, Vice President Kamala Harris said Monday.

Harris spoke to reporters during a joint press conference with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong after a previous meeting where the two leaders discussed a wide range of issues – from supply chain issues to climate change to tackling the issues caused by the Pandemic caused global health crisis.

“For now, our focus is solely on evacuating American citizens, Afghans who have worked with us, and vulnerable Afghans, including women and children,” Harris said when asked by a reporter about the US effort in Afghanistan.

“We have a responsibility and a deep obligation to ensure that the people who have helped us are safe,” Harris added, saying there should be “a robust analysis of what happened” later.

The Biden administration is facing increasing criticism of its handling of the US withdrawal efforts that plunged Afghanistan into chaos when the civilian government collapsed and the Taliban took power. Thousands have flooded Kabul airport to flee the country.

On Sunday, President Joe Biden said the US had a “long way to go and a lot could go wrong” in evacuating Kabul.

“The evacuation of thousands of people from Kabul will be hard and painful, no matter when it started or when we started,” the president said during a press conference at the White House. He also said that “our hope is that we will not have to extend the August 31 deadline for leaving Afghanistan”.
