Stagflation is the best danger to Europe’s restoration

0

Former Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti told CNBC on Saturday that he believed the greatest threat to Europe’s economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic was “stagflation”.

Monti, now president of Bocconi University in Italy, said the “huge bulk” of central banks’ expansionary monetary policies and government fiscal incentives put in place to support economies amid the coronavirus pandemic “could well trigger more inflation.”

At the same time, Monti said there were “a number of restrictions on the flexibility of production” that needed to be increased.

Generally speaking, stagflation is when the rate of inflation is high, but economic growth is slowing and unemployment continues to rise.

The IHS Markit Flash Composite purchasing managers’ index for the euro zone, which tracks activity in manufacturing and services, hit a two-month low of 59.5 in August, compared with 60.2 in July. A value above 50 still means that economic activity is expanding, but many economists have suggested that dynamism in the region may slow down.

There are also concerns about the impact of supply chain problems from Asia affecting manufacturing in Europe, as well as the fact that higher wages could lead to inflationary pressures.

Speaking to CNBC’s Steve Sedgwick at the European House Ambrosetti Forum on Saturday, Monti said that economies, not just in the EU, may begin to experience elements of “stagflation”, similar to what happened in many countries in the 1970s.

As a result, Monti said it was “very important to manage this transition from a needed abundance of financial and financial support to a simpler situation with caution and in a coordinated manner.”

Preliminary data released on Tuesday showed that inflation in the eurozone hit a 10-year high in August, with consumer prices up 3% year over year.

The European Central Bank will hold its next policy meeting on September 9th to discuss the way forward for its asset purchase program. However, analysts told CNBC earlier this week that they expect the ECB to suspend its announcement of tapering its Covid stimulus measures until December.

Tips on how to wash microfiber towels with out ruining them

They may look like any other towel or towel, but microfiber ones come with some luggage. To start with, some people hate – and we mean really despise– the feeling of microfiber on the skin. If you fall into this category, you are not alone and that strange feeling you are feeling is not on your head.

The second obstacle with microfiber towels is washing. It’s not that the process is difficult – just to make sure the towels last a long time, it’s best to wash them on your own rather than tossing them with loads of other laundry.

The tiny fiber loops on the microfiber cloths not only make the skin crawl: they’re also the reason the material is so effective at cleaning and polishing a wide variety of surfaces. Unfortunately, washing microfiber towels doesn’t make them feel any better, but it will clean them up. Here’s what to do.

Before washing microfiber cloths

If you put microfiber towels with cotton or other materials that cause lint in the washing machine, they will be covered with that lint. This is why you should wash them separately and thoroughly clean the lint catcher before putting them in the dryer (if you insist on going that route).

And before doing anything else, shake the towels well (either outside or in a trash bag) to remove any dirt and dust that may be present so that it doesn’t spread back onto the towels when you wash. Shifrah Combiths advises at The Kitchen.

One more thing before we start: According to Combiths, we should wash microfiber cloths after each use. Why? “Dirt that gets stuck in the fibers of the cloths can scratch and damage the surface the next time you clean it.” she explains.

How to wash microfiber towels

You have two options here: Either the washing machine or hand washing. If you choose to use the machine, use only a little detergent and make sure that it does not contain any additives such as fabric softeners or fragrances. Actually, after Combiths, it is possible to do without the detergent entirely.

It does if you hand wash them. If you’ve only used the towels for light cleaning like polishing or dusting, you can put them in a container of warm water (without detergent), swirl them vigorously to loosen dirt and dust, squeeze, remove excess water and hang up to dry writes Combiths.

How to dry microfiber towels

Speaking of microfiber towels, it is best to line dry them, even if you’ve washed them in the washing machine. This avoids the risk of them picking up lint or dirt in the dryer – and they dry very quickly.

If for some reason this is not possible, use the lowest heat setting on your dryer (or turn the heat off completely) and don’t mix microfiber towels with other laundry in the dryer.

Angelina Jolie feared for the security of her household throughout her marriage to Brad Pitt

Angelina also said to the point of sale: “How am I? I realize that sometimes you can survive things but don’t know how to feel and live the same way, ”she added. “So it’s more about being open. I’m really trying to be open again as a person.”

In May, Brad was awarded joint custody of his children by a judge who previously officiated the couple’s wedding in August 2014. Maddox is not subject to custody decisions. Angelina then appealed the verdict, and in July a California appeals court approved her motion to disqualify the judge, allowing her to retain full-time custody of the children, with Brad being granted only visitation rights. The actor recently filed a petition with the California Supreme Court to review the case.

“We are moving to the California Supreme Court for a review because the mutually appointed and repeatedly renewed interim judge was wrongly disqualified after a detailed, fact-based detention decision following a lengthy trial involving multiple witnesses and experts,” Brad’s attorney said in a statement E! News this week, adding, “The lower court ruling is bad for children and bad for California’s overburdened judicial system.”

Threat of science being forgotten after the pandemic

0

Fabiola Gianotti, the director general of CERN’s scientific research center, told CNBC she was concerned that science could be largely forgotten in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Of course there is a risk, the risk of one day the crisis [is] about science being put back in its little box or in a drawer to be taken out in the next crisis, and that is unsustainable, so big challenges cannot be tackled, “said Gianotti Steve Sedgwick of CNBC on Friday at the annual Ambrosetti Forum on the shores of Lake Como in Italy.

However, she believed that much had been learned from the pandemic and that the world was not the same. Gianotti hoped that the world would not return to the “old normal” but that a “new normal” would emerge based on positive principles that emerged from this crisis, such as cooperation.

To ensure that this collaboration continues, especially in light of the debate about waiving coronavirus vaccine patents, Gianotti said it was important to have a dialogue between governments and the private sector.

Both the Biden government and the European Parliament have supported the waiver of intellectual property protection for Covid-19 vaccines to give countries more affordable access. However, pharmaceutical lobbyists have resisted the proposed exemptions.

Gianotti said discussions between the public and private sectors are important to ensure that “the common good takes precedence, that the long-term shared vision of what is important to humanity takes precedence”. [over] personal, individual, national, entrepreneurial interests. “

She was of the opinion that in the future a “Values First Approach” should be pursued, in which society commits itself to guaranteeing “science and knowledge” [are] accessible to all. “

Gianotti stressed that one of the main lessons learned from the pandemic was that such crises increase inequality around the world and widen the gap between developed and developing countries, and those with and without access to “education, technology and health care”.

Journey nurses on their approach to Alabama because of the cash information of the CARES Act -The Black Chronicle Act, Alabama, CARES, directed, Cash, Nurses, TRAVEL

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Health services are grappling with a persistent lack of care and once you link this to the pandemic they are determined to provide additional help.

Governor Kay Ivey announced Friday that she was providing CARES Act funding in support. Funds from the CARES Act will be used to help pay for out-of-state nurses who come back and help.

The $ 12.3 million federal grant will fund travel nurses who return to the state of Alabama to help with the health services they want.

Dr. Don Williamson, director of the Alabama Hospital Affiliation, says the nurses will not be dispatched immediately. Part of the method is figuring out who needs the help most and then creating a plan based primarily on serving the areas that are most needed.

At the moment, he says that more than half of the ventilators available are used by people with COVID, and we have reported a mattress deficit in the intensive care unit, each with an extremely thin staff.

“We are very confident that over the next few days and weeks we will be supporting some of our hospitals that have been so negatively affected by this disaster,” said Williamson.

Dr. Williamson calls it an important level and commends the governor for raising the funds to get aid.

Commissioner Gentiloni to the EU Military after the conclusion of Afghanistan

0

Commissioner for Economy and Taxation Paolo Gentiloni spoke to CNBC about the need to develop the bloc on the geopolitical stage as the US and other Western allies step back.

“We are an economic superpower, but we cannot be completely absent in the geopolitical role,” he told CNBC’s Steve Sedgwick at the European House Ambrosetti Forum on Saturday.

Gentiloni called what he called the “terrible” end of the war in Afghanistan in recent weeks as an example of the US and others reducing their commitments on a global scale. His comments add another voice to the argument that the EU should develop a common defense policy, seen by many as the forerunner of a full EU army.

“I think we can coexist very well,” said Gentiloni when asked whether this would pose a threat to NATO, which includes some EU countries.

The undermining of NATO is seen as one of the main reasons the EU has not created its own army, as is the different defense spending within the bloc. Critics also shy away from further integration within the EU.

“NATO was primarily born and shaped to deter Russia’s presence in Europe. These roles remain absolutely crucial. And personally, I am also a strong supporter of NATO,” said Gentiloni.

“What I want to say is that if the role of the European Union grows, if we have a good economic recovery, if we try to be at the forefront on climate change, and many other aspects of our ambitions, we cannot be completely irrelevant and silent about this geopolitical dynamic. “

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell went a step further this week, telling reporters in Slovenia that the bloc should set up a “first reaction force” of 5,000 troops to reduce its dependence on the US

Two EU battlegroups with 1,500 soldiers were set up as early as 2007, but they were never deployed.

“Sometimes there are events that catalyze history that create a breakthrough, and I think Afghanistan is one of those cases,” Borrell said, according to Reuters.

Chinese antagonism

When asked about the Chinese antagonism and whether the EU would try to fight the Asian superpower as a bloc in the future, Gentiloni said this could ultimately benefit the US

“There is economic cooperation [with China], Trade cooperation, but we are different systems. It is inevitable that the model of a different capitalism, a capitalism that is not linked to democracy and freedom, is an alternative to the European model, ”he said.

“And so emphatically we will be partners with [the] US in this type of confrontation, however [it’s] also in the interest of the USA, if this European partner is also geopolitically stronger and [has] more influence … We always refer to Europe as the silent superpower, Venus and Mars. OK, [the] Now is the time to give geopolitical power to Venus too. “

France’s Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire agreed at the same event that this development of a common defense policy could represent a new position for Europe.

“A new geopolitical approach is needed for Europe,” Le Maire told CNBC at a press conference.

He added that the EU must now become a third geopolitical superpower alongside China and the US.

“This is my deepest political belief … let’s open our eyes, we face political threats,” he said.

“We can no longer rely solely on the protection of the United States. That is obvious, so we have to be our own protection.”

It is best to discover the crackling world of TikTok ASMR

0

ASMR content has been around for years, most of it hosted on YouTube. The acronym stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, and content in the category generally includes creators or ASMRtists speaking softly into a microphone, pretending to be putting makeup on a viewer, drawing the viewer’s attention to focus, or something really ; a distinctive ASMR video emphasizes calming images and soft noises or sound effects (think of soft crackling, hissing or scratching) and lovers love them for the physical and mental sensations they are supposed to evoke.

These videos can last for hours on YouTube – but like so much else, bite-sized versions of the trend have found new audiences on TikTok.

What is ASMR Really?

Luna Bloom, a 26 year old creator and ASMRist with 1 million followers Tick tock and 283,000 subscribers Youtube, explains ASMR: It is “the feeling you experience while consuming ASMR content, not the content itself. It is described as tingling, often at the back of the head or along the spine, and / or a trance-like condition that usually helps To relieve anxiety, insomnia and the like. “

Bloom says she had lived the feelings all her life but didn’t have a name for them until 2013 when she, like so many others, found out that someone had named that feeling, and better yet, that people were making videos with the goal to induce [it]. “

What do ASMR videos usually offer on TikTok?

Bloom’s account has clips where she calmly instructs you to look at different objects or imitate your makeup, and there’s a lot more where that comes from: the app’s #ASMR tag has 171.2 billion views. Some of the ASMRtists who are responsible for the videos that generate these views are eating in front of the camera, some of them are talking quietly to their audience, some of them are organizing their workspaces and some of them are mimicking by gesturing at their camera, to “pluck” stress out of the audience. The content types are seemingly endless, so you can find just about any niche you are looking for.

The benefits were amazing. It expanded my audience, it encouraged my creativity. “

The difference between ASMR content on TikTok and YouTube, of course, is length and style. This summer the app increased the time per video, giving the creators three full minutes instead of one. However, that’s nothing compared to the time quotas on YouTube. Instead of reenacting a full-length salon visit, you might find TikTok ASMRtists just giving you a short cut. These videos are also designed for mobile consumption so they are almost always oriented vertically and were likely filmed with a phone.

There’s a dedicated TikTok ASMR crowd, and while Bloom says they noticed some app users later found their way to their YouTube, “they’re still largely separate audiences”. So TikTok gives newer ASMRtists the chance to grow and explore, while more established YouTube-based creators have the chance to expand into uncharted territory.

“The benefits were amazing,” says Bloom. “It has expanded my audience, it has boosted my creativity, and it allows me to make short videos when I want to come up with an idea that I may not have thought of a full-length video for.

Bloom says her YouTube audience is more familiar with ASMR, and it’s exciting for them to find newbies to TikTok who are just learning about the content.

Nicole Villaneuva, a 28-year-old makeup artist, says she loves “ASMR Everything” and was excited to find short versions of the videos when she joined TikTok in July 2019.

“It’s shorter and plays in a loop, unlike YouTube videos, which can be over an hour long,” says Villaneuva. “I get a lot of tingling and goosebumps from the noises. It’s a really calming feeling and often helps me fall asleep. “

What can you expect in the app?

“I would love to see more people discover their love for ASMR, and I think the platform is a really great place to do that,” says Bloom. She points to the ability of ASMR content to “give people a mental break as they scroll that doesn’t feel like they paused at a good time.”

TikTok, she notes, is a destination for people who want to relax and distract for a while. As a result, ASMR content can sometimes “feel abrupt” when it comes to a series of funny clips. Bloom’s goal in creating the content for the short-form app is to “meet people where they are and still allow them to benefit from that feeling of calm.”

The feeling of calm is one of the main points of it all, so pay attention to how you feel while watching certain types of videos. When a mukbang– or a video of someone eating a ton of food, often complete with lip smacking and chewing noises – doesn’t do it for you, try ASMR content with personal attention, or look for creators who can make texture-based sounds by scratching or hitting of objects. The ASMR sensation is typically described as a tingling sensation in the brain, so look for something that creates this. Don’t worry: the app has so many options that you’re bound to find something that has just the perfect trigger.

Villaneuva says she’s most into compilation videos that combine a variety of triggers, including scratching, brushing, tapping, and tapping. (If you’re looking for a few recommendations, she suggests starting with @ serenity11117asmr and @sassiselenaa.)

“I’d like to point out that ASMR can also be experienced outside of ASMR content,” says Bloom. “Whether in a real life situation or in a video that was not made with the aim of inducing ASMR. If this happens to you, I say, hug it, it’s pretty cool! And it could teach you about things that calm you down. ”

She suggests that newbies to this type of content first look for one of their own interests and add “ASMR” at the end. From “gardening ASMR” to “video games ASMR” there is a large selection.

How Can You Maximize Your ASMR Experience?

According to Bloom, to get the most out of the ASMR content found, you should stay open-minded. Understand that you and your triggers are unique. Therefore, what works for your best friend or sibling may not work for you. It’s okay to take some time looking for the right content.

“Plus, as much as it has become mainstream, it’s still fairly new and niche, and that can create a lot of backlash,” she warns. “If you feel a little hesitant – or embarrassed – while exploring, sit back and know that this feeling makes sense … [trying] something new. Everything is good.”

How Selena Gomez’s legacy impressed her one and solely homicide wardrobe

0

“In town you can feel very vulnerable as a young woman, so we thought of her whole costume as some kind of armor,” Dana continued. “The coats were part of it, the boots were part of it – we always made a really thick, you know, intense combat boot. Even if we combined it with cute little mini skirts. “

Equally important was Mabel’s backpack, which Dana found made of Lotuff leather. “That was an iconic piece for her because we kind of said that a New York girl really needs to have her hands free so she can eat a hot dog while talking on her cell phone while riding her bike,” she explained before teasing that Mabel needs full mobility if she is to “potentially protect herself from an attacker”.

What “six weeks pregnant” actually means

0

Ultrasound image of a tiny blob

a six-week embryo, about the size of a peaImage: Yiming Chen (Getty Images)

In the course of Supreme Court decision allow Texas plans to ban abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy, a few people – I don’t mention names – have shown that they have no idea how weeks are counted in pregnancy. Folks, the day you have sex to have a baby, you are considered pregnant as early as week two. And there is no way you can possibly know that you are pregnant until four or five weeks.

This is because the gestational age (weeks of pregnancy) does not depend on how long you have an embryo or fetus in your body, but rather how long has it been since the first day of your last period. Let’s go through this using a textbook example of a woman (let’s call her Jane) with a textbook-perfect cycle. She starts her period on January 1st and only has sex once in her life, resulting in pregnancy. These dates vary from person to person, so this is just an example:

  • January 1: Jane’s period begins. She loses the lining of the uterus. She is definitely not pregnant.
  • January 12th or so: She’s having sex.
  • January 14th: She is ovulating (an egg is released from her ovary). Shortly afterwards, the egg cell meets one of the sperm cells from a few days ago.
  • January 21st: The developing embryo nests in her uterus. She is now pregnant – more precisely in the third week of pregnancy.
  • Jan 28: Pregnancy hormones are high enough that maybe, just maybe, a very sensitive pregnancy test could detect them.
  • January 30th: Jane, looking at the calendar like a hawk, notices that her period is late. She is more than four weeks pregnant.

So you cannot find out that you are pregnant until the gestational age is “four weeks” at the earliest – which means that the embryo has only been implanted in your uterus for one week and only exists for two weeks. But the dates are counted as if the pregnancy started on January 1st.

This is an optimistic example for many reasons. For example, most people’s period doesn’t come on a textbook 28-day cycle. If your period tends to be anywhere between 29 and 34 days, you won’t be wondering until a little later. And this assumes that you are watching the calendar; If you are not expecting to become pregnant, you may not realize you are late for a week or two. The American Pregnancy Association notes that most women find that they are pregnant four to seven weeks Gestational age (that’s two to five weeks after the sex that leads to conception).

Missing periods isn’t a great sign of pregnancy for everyone, either. Some people have irregular periods, especially if they are using some form of birth control that allows them to skip their periods or give them easier periods. In the meantime, after the embryo is implanted, there is a possibility of bleeding after three weeks and you might be thinking, “hm, my period is a little lighter and earlier than usual,” but don’t worry. There are also medical reasons a person might miss their period for reasons other than pregnancy.

So what about pregnancy symptoms? Morning sickness, for example, usually doesn’t appear until the fifth to seventh week, and some people don’t get morning sickness at all.

If you go to a doctor or clinic for a pregnancy test, we add more time. For example, suppose you think your period might be a week late and find your way to the clinic a few days later. You could easily be six weeks old before even getting a test.
