Taylor Swift knows “Everything has changed” since Simone Biles dropped out of the women’s all-around competition, but she knows it too Suni Lee and Jade Carey are more than “Ready For It”.
The pop star offered her voice for an inspirational message prior to the televised all-round women’s gymnastics. Speaking over a video of participants training for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she said, “Life can surprise you. It can humiliate you. It can test you. It can inspire you.”
Taylor also admitted how the team overcame numerous hurdles on the way to Tokyo, including Simone’s decision to suspend her Olympic trip. The world-class athlete announced her decision to sit out the women’s tournament on Tuesday, July 27th, stating that she would like to prioritize her mental health.
In their absence, Jade and Suni went to the plate.
“They didn’t expect this to be the story, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t ready for the spotlight,” said the singer. “They worked for it, they dreamed of it, they belong here.”
