Go over, hairspray – well, except Marissa Jaret Winokur, of course – because there’s a new musical here to steal the show.
The Tony Award Winning Star – Who Played Tracy Turnblad on the Broadway show — joined Ariana Grande and James Corden for a musical parody performance called “No Lockdowns Anymore” – which followed the tune of “Good Morning Baltimore” by Hairspray. In the video, the stars were accompanied by background dancers who showed their movements in front of a city backdrop.
The group also demonstrated their singing talent with the celebratory short song, which contained the hilarious lyrics: “It’s been so long since I got my shoes on, so (oh, oh) let’s go to the club and get drunk and get drunk.” Same tattoos. “
The musical number also happened to debut just hours after the New York governor Andrew Cuomo announced that most of the state’s COVID restrictions have been lifted.
Viewers praised their light-hearted parody in the comment section, especially when it came to Ariana and James banging out their parts of the mini-musical together.
