Shower curtain liners are one of those things that might seem pointless, but actually serve an important function: in this case, it’s the material inside that stays in the tub while you shower, preventing water from leaking and twisting your bathroom into a mushy mess . If your bathroom isn’t properly ventilated, chances are your shower curtain liner will go moldy at some point. In this case, the best thing to do is to get rid of it.
But in situations where you’ve decided to change the shower curtain insert and it is still relatively clean (or will be after a wash, there are plenty of ways to reuse it around the house instead of throwing it away (immediately), at least) . Evelyn (no last name given) at The Krazy Coupon Lady offers some suggestions for ways to give your old shower curtain a second life. Here’s what you should know.
Ways to reuse a shower curtain film
And now without further ado: options for reusing a shower curtain film, courtesy Evelyn:
- Use it as a drip cloth on the driveway or in the garage for car repairs.
- Put it under a high chair (or a messy dining chair, really) to easily catch any falling food.
- Give it to your kids as a play mat (including a chance to color them).
- Put it under a picnic blanket when the ground is slightly damp so you (and your food) stay nice and dry.
- Turn it into an art smock for people of all ages creating art.
- When camping, put it under your air mattress to keep it from getting wet.
- Use it as a temporary (interior) mattress protector.
- Create a solid tic-tac-toe board for your yard, use tape to create the lines, and frisbees (or other flat object) of different colors as markers.
