It’s easy to get lost in a sea of open tabs between multiple browser windows – sometimes even with the same website in multiple tabs. Instead, use the built-in search tabs function in your browser to keep things organized. You can find this function in all common browsers such as Chrome, Safari and Firefox. And while the new Microsoft Edge runs on the Chromium engine, it doesn’t have Chrome’s search tabs yet – but you can replicate it with one renewal.

Chrome version 87 and higher adds a new search tab function directly in the tabs bar. At the end you will find a triangle icon pointing downwards. Click it to see a list of all the open tabs, including the recently closed ones.
Press the “Search tabs”Text field to search between all open tabs in all of your windows and simply select a page to switch to.

The search tabs function in Firefox is a bit hidden: it is integrated directly into the URL bar and there is no separate button for it.
Open the Firefox browser and click the URL bar. Enter the here % Key, then press the Space bar. You will now see a list of all open tabs. You can continue typing to browse and filter the tabs. Use the arrow keys or mouse to navigate to the tab you want to switch to and press Enter Key.

Safari has built-in search for tabs on its Tabs page, but the problem is that you can only search the tabs in the current window.
Open the Safari browser and click on the Tabs in the top right corner of the screen (it looks like two squares, one on top of the other). Then click on “Search tabs”Text box in the upper right corner and start searching. When you find the website you want, just click the preview to switch to it.

Microsoft Edge still doesn’t have Chrome’s search tab feature. Until that is added, you can use a third-party extension to replicate the functionality.
First install and activate the Search all tabs Renewal. Then click the expand icon on the toolbar (it looks like a magnifying glass). Enter the title of the page or website you want to go to.
The extension searches all open tabs in all of your windows. When you find the page, press Enter to open the first search result. Use the arrow keys to select other results.
