Goodbye Pops.
On Friday April 2nd, ABC announced that the final episode of The Goldbergs would be starring George Segal, who died on March 23rd, will air on April 7th. Since 2013 Segal has played Albert “Pops” Solomon in the ABC sitcom, which also starred Wendi McLendon-Covey, Jeff Garlin, Sean Giambrone, Troy Gentile, Hayley Orrantia and more.
In a new teaser below, the network noted, “It’s been eight wonderful seasons of Pops. Join us for the final episode starring the legendary George Segal. A special new Goldbergs.”
According to Entertainment Weekly, the new episode on Wednesday will feature a 45-second tribute from ABC and Sony Pictures Television. As E! News readers know full well that Segal passed away last month. As his wife Sonia Confirmed Deadline: “The family is devastated when they announced that George Segal had passed away this morning from complications from bypass surgery.”
In addition to his role as Goldbergs, Segal was best known for starring Jack Gallo on Just Shoot Me! To play. and for his Oscar-nominated role in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf ?.
