Do you know that a friend you – earlier, when things like this still happened – always met in a group? Perhaps you’ve never spent that much time with them, but just seeing their face in the crowd signaled that the night was sure to be a good one. We all have someone like that in our lives.

And in the world of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, someone is Marlo Hampton.

Marlo was never a housewife, just a friend of Marlo’s. He’s been a stable yet peripheral presence on the Georgia-based episode of Bravo’s hit franchise for nearly a decade. She was longer than three-fifths of the current season 13 cast and has seen other leads come and go. Hell, she did the seemingly unthinkable and survived the housewife she introduced. (Pour out one by one and just puff NeNe leaks.)

Whatever the reason, that all-important peach continues to elude her, but it’s not hard to see why those in power have kept her close in some ways since her introduction in season four. And that’s because like this friend we all have, Marlo is having a hell of a good time. Not only that, she does damn good TV and could be this season’s secret MVP.
