Promoted Deal: Up to 90% off Select Items | JACHS NY | Use Code CLEANUP

While there have been teases of warmer weather, chilly temperatures are still very much here. JACHS is basically giving it all away, so make sure you stay comfortable and stylish while waiting for spring. There are some items up to 90% off in this blowout sale. Use the code CLEANUP at checkout and watch the dollars melt away like the winter snow. This sale will run until March 17. Expect an additional 15% off already discounted pieces.

I love the look of these sherpa-lined jackets ($33). There’s something a little classic, a little vintage but very stylish about them. The stretch corduroy fabric comes in this beautiful charcoal color and will keep you very toasty when temperatures drop.

I’m partial to a henley and think it looks great on everyone. This olive green one is $25 and made of cozy merino wool. The long sleeve makes it ideal for layering, and the traditional waffle stitch pattern gives it a nice texture.

I’m actually a fan of their crewneck sweatshirts and can say they are super comfy. Buying two is a good idea because you might have a significant other who will steal yours. It’s me, and I stole my boyfriend’s. They’re also 67% off, so hard to pass up.

Alright, this one’s just kind of fun. Best Buy is currently running a huge sale on Dell’s Inspiron 7000 laptop, which is down to $800. This 13.3″ laptop features a screen that can be flipped and folded around 360 degrees. That essentially lets you turn it into a tablet and just use its touch screen (it comes with a stylus too). It’s a clever bit of design, but this laptop isn’t just a gimmick. It sports a 1080p full HD screen, 512 GB of storage, and an Intel Core i5 Evo processor. This might not be the perfect pick for intense tasks like gaming, but it’s a powerful and versatile device that somehow makes laptops even more portable than they already are. It’s a perfect work from home companion for multitaskers.

I’ve had the pleasure of testing a few items from JLab over the last few weeks and was pleasantly surprised by the quality for not only the price but the size. If you’re unsure where to start with wireless and are worried about going too cheap, the JBuds Air True Wireless Earbuds are a great option. They’re 30% off and in that nice space of moderate price but reliable performance. Of the three colors that are offered the white is currently the best deal.

The sound is crisp, clear, and they block out a fair amount of background noise. They turn on automatically and connect immediately, which is something I’m still getting used to with this brand. And being able to control everything by tapping one of the earbuds takes some time to figure out. It’s a bit of a learning curve, but once you remember how many taps to what, the transitions are seamless. The charging case is true to the twenty-four-hour claims of playtime. Expect around six hours of tune time for the earbuds off of one charge. These are sweatproof and waterproof, so workout approved whether indoors or outside. They are comfy for hours of wear, and the case is compact enough to toss in your bag or pocket. The JBuds will be a great addition to your audio collection.

This will ship for free, no need to be a Prime member.

Google-powered Chromebooks are often shockingly affordable compared to the competition, but a cheap laptop usually still looks and feels … well, cheap. The Lenovo Chromebook Duet is the rare exception to the rule, apparently. It has very modest components, as you’d expect, but reviews suggest that it runs decently well, the hardware feels sleek and sturdy, and the 10.1” touchscreen is solid.

On top of that, you can even remove the keyboard to make it a proper tablet capable of running Android apps. As The Verge writes, “this has no business costing this little”—and that was at the $279 list price. Right now, you can pick one up for just $220 at Amazon, which is the lowest price we’ve seen to date. It’s set to continue receiving automatic Chrome OS updates into 2028, too, so don’t worry about lifespan.

It’s official: American taxpayers have been granted an additional month to file their taxes for 2020, with the date sliding to May 17 amidst ongoing pandemic hardship. That’s either another few weeks to procrastinate doing anything until the last minute, or—more sensibly—a smoother runway for getting them done without undue stress. I suggest the latter option!

If your taxes are a bit more complex than average or you want to dig deep into your finances to hunt for deductions, then you might want to grab one of H&R Block’s specially-designed software suites. Luckily, Newegg is offering big savings on them this week, taking up to 66% off the list price for tax software.

H&R Block’s Deluxe 2020 federal software is just $14 with promo code HRBD25 at checkout, while the Deluxe 2020 federal + state package is $15 with promo code HRBDLS8. Meanwhile, the Premium 2020 federal/state option—ideal for self-employed people or those with rental income—is $25 when you use code HRBPB35 at checkout.

These are all for physical key cards that let you download either the Windows or Mac version once redeemed. And it’s free shipping for all of ‘em, too.

Earbuds are still very much in fashion when it comes to preferred listening modes. The only downside is they do tend to be a bit more expensive than their tethered brethren. Take 17% off the Mpow MDots Wireless Earbuds; remember to clip the coupon at checkout.

I’ve tested a lot of Mpow, and I’ve never been disappointed. Their earbuds pair quickly and seamlessly. They absolutely fit securely, so no worries if you’re wearing these to the gym, for a run, or even while just doing errands. All of Mpow’s earbuds produce a robust and balanced sound. I use my M5s for phone calls and Skype sessions and have never had any issues with the mic or hearing the conversation clearly. As with most of their products, you can have full control with just one tap of an earbud. Expect about twenty hours of playback time, and you get about 4 full charges with the case before needing to plug it in for extra juice. The noise cancellation is something I’m always impressed by with these, and I often have to take one of the earbuds out to hear someone speaking even when they are turned off. They’re no joke. These are top-quality earbuds that won’t break the bank.

Few things can muck up your day like forgetting whether you locked the door well after you’ve departed. If you’re lucky, you’ll realize it before you’ve reached your destination and can quickly turn around, but not everyone is so fortunate. If you’re able, a smart lock can alleviate such woes by automatically locking the door, and nixing the key in favor of a fingerprint or security code, so you don’t have to worry about locking yourself out. They’re pricey, though, so a good deal always helps, and right now you can get $30 off Eufy’s Security Smart Lock Touch at Amazon (use the on-page coupon) and Best Buy. At $220 after the discount, it’s still not cheap, but it will keep things a little more safe while giving you a backup plan in case you’re prone to leaving your keys inside.

There’s four ways to unlock the device: via your fingerprint, a security code, Bluetooth via the Eufy security app, and using a hardware key. That makes it easier to relax when you’re halfway to your appointment, still wondering if you remembered to lock the door, since the lock will automatically lock when you shut the door. Additionally, the lock is IP65 waterproof, and can withstand temperatures from -22 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit.

This deal was originally published on 2/14/21 by Elizabeth Lanier and was updated with new information on 3/21/21.

Newegg loves running all kinds of game sales, don’t they? The retailer has been running sale after sale recently. Usually those are for PC games, but today, they’ve got a sale on Xbox digital codes for you. There are plenty of games to check out here if you’re looking to restock your gaming library. Marvel’s Avengers is $27 just in time for the upcoming Black Panther DLC. You can also grab Life is Strange 2 for $14 just in time for this week’s Life is Strange: True Colors announcement. Of course, you could also just go with an old standby: Grand Theft Auto V is $15. With all of these games (and more) you’ll receive a digital code to download the game onto your Xbox, so get ready to redeem some codes.

They’re all smaller builds at 300 pieces or less, with the LEGO City Skate Park the priciest (and gnarliest) at $32, the Airshow Jet Transporter at $24, and a trio of other options at $16 apiece as seen below. We also covered some new-for-2021 LEGO Minecraft sets yesterday that are still all 20% off at Amazon, as well, if you’re looking for additional options.

How many different ways can you show your love of Animal Crossing? Beyond the game itself, you can get plushies, Switch cases, enamel pins, socks, and just about anything you can imagine (okay not anything, thankfully). If you’re looking for another way to take your fandom up a notch, why not check out this very cute Animal Crossing backpack on sale for $30? This pleasant bag has Tom Nook’s face plastered all over it. It’s also big enough that you could probably stuff the raccoon into it, if you so desire. You can certainly fit a Nintendo Switch in there at least, as it includes a dedicated slot for it, plus a compartment for wires. It’s cute and functional, which is the best kind of Animal Crossing merch you could ask for.

Back at the launch of Destiny 2: Beyond Light, I made my not-so triumphant return to the Crucible, the game’s PVP mode. As it turned out, everyone had gotten better at the game, and I’d gotten much worse. If you want to raise your K/D ratio fast, here’s a tip: all you have to do is log into a match that I’m in and wait for me to shoot hand cannon shots 20 feet above your head, giving you ample time to one-shot me with just about any weapon, it seems.

If you’re a PlayStation owner and you want in on this easy target practice, you’ll need to make sure you have PlayStation Plus, which allows you to play games like Destiny 2 online. You can get a full year of Sony’s online service for $27 after service fees from Eneba by using the code STIMULATINGPSDEAL at checkout. Make sure to wave emote in my direction before you embarrass me into orbit.

Take your computer out of sleep mode, because it’s time to load that bad boy up with video games. Newegg is currently running a big PC gaming sale, which largely features EA games and a smattering of great indies. The highlights? How about Civilization VI Platinum Edition for $26? There’s also Star Wars Squadrons for $21. If you’re a tried and true PC gamer, you can even get Command & Conquer Remastered Collection for just $9. There’s no shortage of ways to get an Xbox Game Pass subscription for cheap. Microsoft itself often drops the price of its service down to absurdly low levels to hook new subscribers. If you missed one of their more recent deals, here’s a cheap way to get two months for under $10. Eneba currently has one week subscription cards on sale for $2. When adding one to your cart, you can increase the quantity up to 10 at checkout and get a slight discount by entering the code 60GAMESWUT. To save you some math, you can grab four and get one month of Game Pass for $5, or grab eight and get two months for $10. Ready? Set? Go! Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is back on sale at Amazon. The AR racing game has been hard to come by since it launched, so anyone who’s been curious might want to hit the gas on this deal. The creative Switch game comes with a physical kart, which you can use to drive around courses in your actual house. The camera on the kart peripheral transmits to your Switch, turning your living room into a full-on track. It’s the perfect gift for kids this holiday season or adults who just want an excuse to play with RC cars again (read, me). Amazon made more copies available back in December, but the catch was that it wouldn’t be shipping orders until January. Now, the game is actually in stock and you can get the Luigi version for $87, its lowest price ever. The Mario version is slightly more at $94. What a jerk.

Google Stadia isn’t doing terribly well. The cloud streaming service seemed like it was set for a significant expansion when it came to iOS, but Google has had some struggles since then. It recently fired around 150 developers as the service plans to move away from original games. There’s some serious restructuring happening behind the scenes to revitalize the service and that’s reflected in this deal. you can now grab the Premiere Edition of Google Stadia for $60, down from $100. That package includes a Stadia controller and a Chromecast Ultra. To be honest, even if you don’t care much about Stadia, this is a pretty good price for those two other things. It’s kind of a roundabout way to buy a new controller or Chromecast, but two birds, one stone. You can try out Google’s cloud streaming service while you’re at it, though you really don’t need to touch it to get something out of this deal.

If you’ve yet to get a Nintendo Switch yet, Best Buy has a small incentive for you today. You can grab a Switch Lite and get a $20 Best Buy gift card for your efforts. Or you can grab one at Amazon and get a $20 Amazon gift card. Should you buy a Switch just to get a gift card? No. But if you were planning on getting one anyways, that’s $20 you can immediately put towards buying a game. The Switch Lite is the least expensive console option on the market today and it’s built with portable gamers in mind. It can’t dock to a TV and its joy-cons can’t be removed from the system. So if you’re someone who plans to only use a Switch casually on the go, it’s a good option. It’s also the ideal version of the system for young kids in the same vein as the Nintendo 2DS.

Yesterday was the first day of spring. I’m in Minnesota, so I stayed indoors to work on finding deals here at Kinja and to work on my thesis to avoid the snow outside— so yeah, I kind of missed that technically, it’s spring. It just doesn’t feel like it for some of us living up north yet!

So, I guess what I’m trying to take a lot of words to say is: It’s time for spring cleaning, ya’ll. I would have already cleaned my house if I was back down south, but I’m a bit behind and my apartment kitchen needs some attention. If yours does too, maybe consider stocking up on some great kitchen essentials to get your motivation going.

Touchless is my preferred attribute of any device in these COVID times, so this touchless soap dispenser with window for only $15 is a great addition to any kitchen. I’m a huge fan of Rip Van Wafel. My mom used to send these in care packages when I first moved to New York, which is funny because I lived in Brooklyn, where these are made. This pack runs for $30, a nice deal for upgrading the snack section of your pantry.

The individual packs are easy to toss in your bag, and they are only 130 calories on par with a granola bar. In this deal, you’ll get thirty-two each of the cookies and cream flavor. And they have a surprisingly high fiber count for essentially a snack cookie. Mix that with low sugar, and it’s a winning combo. These sold out quickly last time, so we expect the same this go-round.

If you’ve read a few of our pieces on SideDeal before and you like what you’ve seen, they offer a $5 monthly fee to get free shipping on all of your orders, no matter how many. Otherwise, it’s a flat rate of $8.

The Godfather got it right—if you have something you believe in, it might be time to go to the mattresses. Do you know what I believe in? A good night’s sleep. Not the light stuff, but the snoring, drool leaking out the side of your mouth, and eye bookers forming on the sides of your eyes once you wake up kind of sleep. The kind of sleep where you don’t even know where the hell you are after. You can only do that with either—massive amounts of melatonin, or a groundbreaking mattress.

Luckily for you, there’s a deal on just that. For a short time, you can get 30% off Tempur-Cloud Mattress over at Tempur-Pedic. It has a specific comfort layer that provides 40% more pressure-relieving power than other mattresses on the market. The mattress learns your shape and adapts to your weight for a personalized, supportive sleep. With our exclusive promo code KINJA30, you’ll save about $600 on a queen-sized mattress, bringing the price to $1,399. Yes, you can use the code for Twin, Full, King, Split King, and California King. So honestly, go a little crazy. The streets will be (safely) open soon, so you should get some rest before then.

Fun fact: I was a taste tester for Aloha way back in the day when they were thinking of getting into the protein powder/drink space. I can personally tell you this version is much improved from that first one. I’ve also seen these twelve-packs as high as $40, but this one is just $30 when you clip the coupon.

The vanilla flavor is superior, in my opinion, to the other options, and they are great to toss in your gym bag or take out on the trails. Each eleven-ounce bottle has eighteen grams of plant-based protein and is made with coconut milk, so it’s lactose friendly. It’s packaged with electrolytes and prebiotics. I’ve also experimented with it as a mixer for smoothies, and I have to say with the right flavors, it’s not a bad option.

We still live in a world where we are very much beholden to batteries. Remotes, toys, flashlights, even some wireless items like mice and keyboards all need batteries. And you never realize you don’t have any until you’re in a jam. Don’t let this happen again with this giant 100 pack of AA and AAA batteries.

This Energizer bundle contains 50 AA and 50 AAA, basically the most universally used batteries. With summer storms on the way, now is a great time to check portable radios and flashlights, so you don’t get literally caught in the dark. Fear you’ll never use this many quickly, no worries. These batteries hold their power for up to ten years as long as they are properly stored. Energizer’s proprietary Power Seal Tech keeps them working to ensure they’ll be ready when you need them the most. This pack is 44% off and an excellent way to prepare for that moment of electronic death.

If you’ve read a few of our pieces on MorningSave before and you like what you’ve seen, they offer a $5 monthly fee to get free shipping on all of your orders, no matter how many. That membership also gets you free shipping at Meh, Mediocritee, and SideDeal. Otherwise, shipping is $8 per order.

I’m gonna be honest with y’all — sweeping your home or apartment is annoying. You gotta get all the corners and crevices, and even bend over to pick up all the dust just to throw it out. And let’s not get started on the eternal dust underneath the furniture or the pets who insist that a broom is their only nemesis (just me then, ok). Anyway, that’s where Shark IQ Robot Vacuum comes into play!

At $480, which is $120 off its original list price, you can schedule this cleaner to pick up pet hair, dander, and whatever else on hard floors. It’s also extremely self-charging, and has smart sensors so it always knows where to clean! Not to mention, the vacuum has a self-emptying base (that holds dust and debris up to 30 days!) and a self-cleaning brush roll, so all you have to do is dump the bigger can without bending over too much, which is amazing for folks with mobility issues. What are you waiting for? An invitation?

I’m so proud of you for still wearing a mask; it’s super cool of you. But do you need an upgrade or maybe something a little more heavy-duty? Or have you decided to start layering a KN95 under a cloth mask? Or maybe you just want to put your mind at ease with something a smidge more protective? Whatever your reason, you can grab a 40-pack of Vese KN95 masks over at SideDeal for just $18 right now.

These are industry-standard, which means they are supposed to filter 95 percent of particles. That is just about as good as you can get. So the mask obviously doesn’t completely eliminate the risk of catching or spreading something, but if you wear it correctly, it still drastically reduces the likelihood of doing so. These are also great if you’ve got severe allergies or asthma and protect against pollen, dander, and whatnot. The KN95 mask isn’t made for clinical environments (not that you’re planning to perform surgery with these), but they will protect you and others in everyday environments against what is currently out there. Not all heroes wear capes, but they do wear masks. So, thank you for doing your part!

These masks have the metal bridge for keeping your mask snug, and the masks are wrapped up in eight packets containing five masks each, so you can keep a pack in your car, at your door, in your garage, in your purse— wherever you might need to keep some on hand.

If you’ve read a few of our pieces on SideDeal before and you like what you’ve seen, they offer a $5 monthly fee to get free shipping on all of your orders, no matter how many. That membership also gets you free shipping at Meh, Mediocritee, and MorningSave. Otherwise, shipping is $8 per order.

One of my very talented co-workers already clued you in on Ulta’s 21 days of beauty sale. Well, here’s another deal you may not want to sleep on. For a short time, you can get 50% off Foreo Luna 2, which brings the overall price down to $60. If you don’t know about Foreos or why they’re amazing for skin cleansing, I’ll give you a tiny description—it’s a battery-powered silicone cleanser with soft touchpoints to target dirt and bacteria without being too harsh on your skin. It’s completely waterproof (as it should be), so don’t be worried about getting wet and wild while you massage that cleanser into your skin while singing the new Bieber track out loud. Bellesa has a ton of new merch, and it’s all included in the sale. Each of their sweatshirts is a classic unisex fit but still pre-shrunk. So if you prefer yours to be big and comfy, size up; they’re a poly/cotton blend and with that traditional look, cinched at the cuffs and hem with the collar a bit loose. “Braless & Flawless” is the biggest hit so far. I’m partial to “Hydrate & Masturbate,” a true life lesson to follow every day, in my opinion. This vibe sizes down the tech of the Aurora and Dea but not the potency. They somehow managed to get all that in just a 3.5” diameter toy. Choose how you want to groove with the multiple sides; there are options. This clitoral vibrator is just as cute as the above Air in its beautiful baby blue clamshell case. Both of these cases look like compacts and fit snuggling in your purse. They’re USB charged and waterproof too.

If, like me, you suffer from old sports injuries that love to flair up in winter, this deal is for you. Somacare Reusable Heat Pack Combo has something for all your achy muscles and bones. This seven-piece pack can ease a whole host of aliments anywhere on the body, and this is an excellent alternative if you keep buying disposable stick-on pads. The day has come, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has arrived on Disney+. As someone who has been in Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie’s presence, their chemistry together is palpable and organic. These two make a great duo, so it’s easy to see why that translates superbly to the small screen. One of my favorite comics from last year was Falcon & Winter Soldier Vol. 1; it absolutely wrangles why these two work so well together in dynamic and dialogue. This digital version is just $4 right now and is a great intro to this pair before consuming episode one. Save 10% on the print version.

Bucky and Sam are taking on Hydra once again and teaming up to uncover some ghastly secrets. The clock is ticking as the Captains get deeper into the terror organization’s heinous plans of a mass-casualty event. This comic has everything you’d expect from these two: snappy quips, tons of action, and lots of pulverized baddies. This was such a fun read during quarantine last year, and I’m excited to revisit it as a supplement to watching TFATWS.

The digital version will download immediately via ComiXology, and the print version will ship for free for Prime members.

Are you ready for a family movie marathon this weekend? If so, let Dreamworks get you prepped with one of their fan-favorite collections. Now, of course, you don’t need to have a family or even be a kid yourself to enjoy any of these titles, but it doesn’t hurt. Streaming is a funny thing. On the one hand, you have nearly any show you could wish for at your fingertips, ready for you to binge after logging off for the weekend. On the other hand, those shows are fragmented across so many apps and services that it’s hard to track down where to find anything, let alone how to pay for it all. Luckily, free trials exist to let you blitz through your most anticipated or beloved shows while taking the service out for a spin, all without having to commit. By the end of it, maybe you’ll have found a new catalog of shows and movies to sink your teeth into, or maybe you’ll just be grateful for the time you spent together.

Right now, you can get a month of Paramount+ (formerly CBS All Access) for free through Amazon. After your first month, it’ll cost $6, but you can always cancel ahead of time if it’s not your jam, and that’s a problem for future you, anyways.

In the meantime, you’ll get access to content from CBS, Comedy Central, BET, Nickelodeon, and MTV. You can catch old favorites like (pardon me for dating myself) Clone High and Daria, Hey Arnold!, Key & Peele, and Rugrats. There’s also plenty of originals to choose from, too, like Star Trek: Picard, Kamp Koral, and The Good Fight.

Have you ever put your phone down, Grandpa Simpson’d off into another room, and immediately forgotten when you put your phone? I have done this several hundreds of times at this point in my life and the panic of this moment is real. If you never want to have this problem again, consider grabbing a tracking pixels. Basically, a tracking pixel is a coin-sized sticker you can place on to your device. If you lose it, you can use an app to make the pixel ring. Problem solved. Sidedeal currently has a 5-pack of tracking pixels down to $5, which is a full 90% off the usual $50 price tag. The right way to create a sensory backyard

The right way to create a sensory backyard

Illustration for article titled How to Create a Sensory GardenPhoto: Hannamariah (Shutterstock)

Gardening and various forms of mindfulness have received more attention over the past year thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, for many people, gardening is a form of mindfulnessGive them the opportunity to take a break from everything else and focus on the here and now of what is happening in their yard. If you want to take this concept to the next level, you might be interested in creating a mind garden. Here’s what it is and how to make one.

Illustration for article titled How to Create a Sensory Garden

What is a sensory garden?

In essence, a sensory garden is exactly what it sounds like: a garden that can be experienced with all five senses (touch, smell, taste, sound and sight). There is no single “formula” for a sensory garden – it is about adding features to a new or existing garden in order to fully involve each visitor and provide them with a complete experience.

How do I create a sensory garden?

Here are some suggestions for sensory garden functions, courtesy of Holly Crossley at Gardening Etc::

Put a fragrant plant at the entry point

Whether it’s a door, the beginning of a path, or part of your balcony, plant something with a scent that you love. Crossly suggests lavender or nepeta (also known as catnip). That way, you immediately get a signal to your brain and body that you are entering another room.

G / O Media can receive a commission

Install a water feature

This isn’t as intimidating (or expensive) as it sounds – just find a container that comes in a size that will fit your garden. And if your garden is on a balcony, this could be a simple bowl of water. Here’s why Crossly thinks A water feature is worth it:

Water lets sparkling shimmers pour over the property as it reflects the midday sun, welcomes dragonflies, frogs and other wildlife, feels refreshingly cool, and the gentle lapping of a visiting bird taking a bath is sure to be a comforting sound for anyone .

Plant herbs to pick and taste

When the season is right, create a small “tasting area” of your garden with herbs like mint, chives, basil, and spearmint. Then when you visit that part of your garden you can break off a leaf and chew it to get the taste (ideally after rinsing it).

Illustration for article titled How to Create a Sensory Garden

Add some stachys

This velvety soft plant, better known as a “lamb’s ear,” is a great way to add practicality to your sensory garden. “They are a beautiful silver hue and often spikes with purple or white flowers appear in the summer,” writes Crossley. “Literally place them around a seating area or along a path for a soothing touch.”

Make a place to sit and take it all in

Depending on the size of your garden, consider adding a bench or chair if possible. This gives you and your guests a place to sit down, quiet down, and listen to the sounds around you (or the lack of them).

It’s also a place where you can take a break from whatever you’re doing, sit down and look at everything that’s going on in your yard. Crossley recommends placing the bench or chair in a shaded spot and adding a pillow.

Even if the pace of vaccination accelerates in the US, cases of Covid-19 are increasing in 21 states and highly infectious variants spread as governors relax restrictions on businesses like restaurants, bars and gyms.

Public health officials warn that while about 2.5 million people receive shots daily across the country, infection rates have risen this month and some states have not reduced the number of daily cases.

According to a CNBC analysis of data from Johns Hopkins University, the 7-day moving average of new infections on Friday was 54,666 after falling for weeks.

More than 541,000 people in the United States have died from the disease.

The Chief Medical Officer of the White House, Dr. Anthony Fauci, warned during a briefing on Friday that the country should not declare victory until the infection level is “much, much lower”. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky has also urged states not to reopen too quickly and undermine the country’s progress against the pandemic.

“The concern is that there are a number of states, cities, and regions across the country that are withdrawing some of the mitigation methods we talked about: withdrawing mask mandates, withdrawing to essentially non-mandate measures in the area of public health are implemented, “said Fauci at the briefing.

“So it’s unfortunate but not surprising to me that the number of cases per day is increasing in areas – cities, states or regions – even though vaccines are being distributed at a pretty good amount of 2 to 3 million per day,” Fauci added added. “That could be overcome if certain areas prematurely withdraw the containment and public health measures we are all talking about.”

Infections are increasing in the following states: Alabama; Connecticut; Hawaii; Idaho; Illinois; Maine; Maryland; Massachusetts; Michigan; Minnesota; Missouri; Montana; New Hampshire; New Jersey; New York; North Dakota; Pennsylvania; Rhode Island; Virginia; Washington; and West Virginia.

The highly contagious variant, first identified in the UK, is likely to account for up to 30% of Covid infections among US health officials. The variant could become dominant by the end of this month or early April.

The variant is seen as the cause of the third coronavirus wave in Europe. Several countries, including France and Italy, have put in place new lockdown measures to reduce the spread of viruses when cases increase.

Fifteen years ago five women –Kimberly Bryant, Jo De La Rosa, Vicki Gunvalson and Jeana Keough and Lauri Waring –welcomed cameras in their homes and changed reality television forever.

The Real Housewives of Orange County premiered on March 21, 2006. Bravo documented the real life of its stars as they “lived a glamorous life in a quaint Southern California condominium where the average home is priced at $ 1.6 million. Residents include CEOs and retired professional athletes.”

23 housewives, 15 seasons, nine spin-offs in other luxury cities, and an endless number of fights later, RHOC is still on the air, ending its final season in January.

These women spent a lot of money. The got divorced. They found love again. You fought. They made up. They investigated whether Vicki’s former boyfriend Brooks Ayers lied about his cancer diagnosis. Oil giant Saudi Aramco reported a 44% drop in full-year 2020 results but maintained its dividend payout of $ 75 billion. CEO Amin Nasser described the last twelve months as one of the “most challenging years” in recent history.

Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia’s giant state-owned oil company, posted net income of $ 49 billion in 2020, up from $ 88.19 billion in 2019. Earnings were slightly below analysts’ expectations of $ 48.1 billion, but is still the highest of all listed companies in the world.

“In one of the most challenging years in recent history, Aramco has demonstrated its unique value proposition through considerable financial and operational agility,” said Amin Nasser, chief executive of Saudi Aramco, in a statement from the company on Sunday.

Aramco said sales were impacted by lower crude oil prices and volumes sold, as well as weaker margins in refineries and chemicals.

The company also expects to cut investments in the coming year, slashing its spending forecast from $ 40 billion to $ 45 billion to around $ 35 billion.

Free cash flow was down nearly 40% to $ 49 billion, well below the level of the highly anticipated dividend. Aramco also declared a $ 75 billion payout for 2020, despite fears it would take on additional debt to keep it up.

“Looking ahead, our long-term strategy to optimize our oil and gas portfolio is on track. As the macro environment improves, we see a pickup in demand in Asia and positive signs in other countries,” he added.

Shares in leading Western oil and gas companies, including Royal Dutch Shell and BP, fell to multi-year lows in 2020 as the coronavirus pandemic devastated the global economy and sparked historic oil prices. Exxon Mobil, the largest US energy company, posted its first annual loss.

I’ve only been a homeowner for a few months and I want to tell you this house is full of surprises. Some are bad, like the fact that the previous owners didn’t put insulation between the glass stove and the counter; but some are good, like the mint that grows in the yard.

Now I know what you’re going to say – mint planted in the ground will take over the yard. I am satisfied with it. There’s a cactus back there too and I’m excited to see what happens when they finally meet. Plus, a lot of mint isn’t a bad thing because mint tastes great, especially in cocktails.

My pedigree is full of moon cutters, tea totes, and Catholics – and one of my grandmothers used to make her own fig wine – but bourbon is just another bottle of liquor that isn’t part of anyone’s identity.

Maybe that’s why I don’t care much about the type of sugar that goes into my Mint Julep. I like juleps a lot – although I’ve never seen or participated in a derby – but the ones sweetened with plain syrup are just as valid as those with powdered sugar in my eyes (and mouth). This is probably scandalous information for someone, but this openness led me to try a maple-sweetened mint julep at the insistence of me AA Newtonand it was a great decision.

Similar to a Maple old fashioned, a maple mint julep is just a little more interesting than its sucrose-sweetened counterpart. It’s a little richer, a little more complex, and – thanks to the lack of real viscosity in maple – easy to mix. To do it you will need:

  • 8-10 mint leaves, depending on size and thickness, plus more for garnish
  • 1/2 ounce maple syrup
  • 2 ounces bourbon (I used bottled-in-bond as crushed or pellet ice melts pretty quickly)

Add the mint and syrup to a lowball or julep glass (if you have one) and mix the mint. Add the bourbon, fill the glass with crushed or pebble ice and stir everything in the glass until it gets cold. Add more ice to form a little dome on top of the drink, then tuck in a few more mint leaves for garnish.

Tricks to Succeeding as a Freelancer in Singapore, Cash Information

Freelancing is a great way to make a living while having a flexible schedule and lots of industry involvement. Freelancers can also choose where to work.

This flexibility allows people to work on multiple projects at the same time or to add a freelance job as extra income to their main job. However, being a freelancer doesn’t guarantee you will be successful. Check out some of our tips on how to be successful as a freelancer.

Choose your niche

Before you go looking for a job, you need to find out where your expertise lies. It helps to build from something you’ve worked on before or are very interested in. First, make a list of the skills you have and choose a few that are complementary to each other.

For example, if you choose to do web development, related skills can be computer graphics and web design. Three things to keep in mind are:

  • You like to practice the skills that you would like to offer as a freelancer. There’s no point doing something you don’t like.
  • They are experienced and competent in this ability. You are expected to have the skills you have chosen.
  • You can find customers interested in paying for your services. Many people will try to pay below the regular price for their work, or asked you to do so for free as a favor. Always know the value of your work and look for customers willing to pay.

Lean in and build your personal network

One of the best ways to start working as a freelancer is to get referrals from previous clients and your personal network. Referrals act as testimonials to potential customers and can help get your name out there.

This will help you build a network and lead to even more referrals in the future. There’s no shame in asking for a referral. Remember, the worst a customer can say is no.

Another way to find work is to create a website that advertises your services through content marketing or search engine optimization (SEO). You can attract potential customers after you have created a platform that shows your work and skills.

You can also push the platform by paying for ads on social media. However, be careful not to spend too much on marketing and advertising if there are no customers being returned to you.

The third way to get customers is to manually access platforms like MyCareers and UpWork. Signing up on one of these freelance platforms and creating a profile can help you find jobs related to your area of expertise, which makes the process a lot easier.

These platforms also allow you to compare yourself to other freelancers doing similar work, thus evaluating the prices and services offered across the industry.

Determine your fee

Establishing a fee structure is one of the more complicated tasks of becoming a freelancer. Many freelancers add up their personal expenses, such as mortgage and grocery expenses, to calculate their fee. However, this method can leave you out of work. Your fees are not related to your expenses.

[[nid:510594]]]

Many freelancers get nervous and suffer from fraud syndrome while others overload without realizing that others are charging much less for the same job.

The easiest way to determine your fee is to look at others who are offering the same service and pay yourself an appropriate amount.

However, if you are leaving a full-time paid job, there is another method that can help you.

Sumeet Goel, founder of HighPoint Associates, a consulting firm with independent advisors, recommends dividing your full-time annual pay by 250 (number of billable days after sick leave, vacation, etc.) and adding 30 percent.

Take this number and compare it to the industry averages and rates you’ve gotten from your network and adjust when you feel fit.

Additionally, many freelance jobs are seasonal, so you’ll need to change your tariffs or be more detailed about your tariffs throughout the year. For example, photographers charge certain hourly rates, but during the wedding season it makes sense to increase the hourly rate.

The other way to set prices is to have wedding photography as a separate category under your fees. This way all wedding jobs are covered all year round.

Remember to save money during dry spells as freelance work is not guaranteed. It is best to be prepared when you are going through a period when your trade is not in high demand.

As recommended by CreativesAtWork co-founder and chief businesswoman Jayce Than, you should save 6 months on living expenses by the end of 6 months. “You will know if freelancing is right for you.”

A great way to ensure that you are spending efficiently is to use the cashback and rewards you get with credit cards towards your daily expenses. Here are some of the best cards on offer in Singapore.

Establishment using an accountant and contractual issues

As a freelancer, you are now considered self-employed. This brings with it some complications than a normal job.

Many may assume that the best way to get started is to register as a business. However, if you operate your business under your full name in Singapore, there is no legal obligation to register the business. If you want to save money, it may be wise not to register.

[[nid:502743]]]

Some freelancers may choose to register the company as it adds credibility to their work and opens up other opportunities such as government tenders.

If you decide to start a business and register, we recommend that you consult a lawyer and professional who can assist you in registering a business.

Below is a very simple breakdown of two business structures for individual business owners:

You should also get your first contract with an attorney. Once you know the pros and cons of your contract and know how to create a contract, you can edit customer contracts independently.

We always recommend consulting an accountant and attorney to understand how self-employment as a freelancer affects your taxes and the business registration process.

The very best air purifiers for allergy symptoms in 2021

Illustration for article titled The Best Air Purifiers To Help You Survive Allergy SeasonPhoto: Gabe Carey

This morning I woke up in a sleeveless fog. I scratched my head why, looked at the window and found that I had left it open overnight. As anyone with allergies knows, this is a serious mistake to make in the spring. Fortunately, I had piled air purifiers in our apartment for months. I have five in total, two of which lie flat on my desk while the other three take up a lot of space in our home office. Even so, on days like today I’d rather be too safe than too sad as the best air purifiers can really make a difference.

While some advertise fancy HEPA filters, others use filterless lighting technologies to suppress airborne germs, bacteria and, of course, allergens. Certain high-end models even serve as fans or humidifiers, or in the case of my recently tested models Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool Cryptomic (We’ll get into that in a moment), both of them. Despite their differences, all of the top contenders for the title of Best Air Purifier share the same goal: to help you breathe cleaner, fresher air while we are stuck indoors for the foreseeable future. Although I’ve learned from my own tests, their effectiveness in achieving this goal varies.

Overall best: Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool Cryptomic

I opened my review of the Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool Cryptomic by asking our readers the question, “Would you pay $ 900 for an air purifier fan?” No? Then keep scrolling. The Humidfy + Cool weighs in at an unimaginably high price and is what I would call a de facto air purifier. You want it, this air purifier, fan, and humidifier combination probably has it.

Fully controllable with a remote control that is comparable to that of a remote control Apple TVThe degree of customization is unprecedented and is enhanced by a mobile companion app This provides useful metrics on your air quality and temperature, as well as humidity trends, so that you can understand your household’s weather conditions well enough to use the damn thing properly. To some extent, the built-in LCD screen also provides some of this information, albeit with a few less data points to refer to.

As expected, the Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool Cryptomic’s performance is out of this world either, though I’ll admit that the formaldehyde-zapping “Cryptomic” technology is unlikely to be worth an additional $ 100 more than the standard Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool unless you have a chemical problem in your house or apartment. The air feels pristine, really humid and cooler when I need it. My only major disappointment is the reverse airflow mode which is supposed to decrease the coolness exerted by the fan. Unfortunately, I still get cold on cold nights even when the mode is on.

Best ionic technology: Sharper FXJ80UW

Illustration for article titled The Best Air Purifiers To Help You Survive Allergy SeasonPhoto: Gabe Carey

For a lower, but still quite high cost, this can be added to your home Sharper FXJ80UW. The company’s patented Plasmacluster ion technology is designed to reduce odors, dust pollen smoke and, of course, germs. If Sharp’s marketing game is to be believed, it can add moisture to the air too – all for $ 428, as at the time of this writing. Covering rooms up to 50 square feet or an entire New York apartment, the FXJ80UW uses a True HEPA filter to rid the air of pesky pathogens – the ultimate solution for those bloody spring allergies that pop up in the distance.

The True HEPA filter includes a washable pre-filter and an activated carbon deodorization filter. The former is responsible for catching dust while the latter, as the name suggests, eliminates bad odors. Although the Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool does not come with a remote control, the FXJ80UW has a number of input switches on the front, including Express Clean, Auto, and Fan, all the way to quiet library operation. With the Sharp Air app for Android and iOS, you can also personalize your settings from the comfort of your own bed. Best of all, it is not a fan, it is just for air purification. So you don’t have to worry about looking for extra covers in the middle of the night to stay warm.

Best Affordable Option: Sensibo Pure

Illustration for article titled The Best Air Purifiers To Help You Survive Allergy SeasonPhoto: Gabe Carey

A more sensible (no pun intended) choice on this list, the Sensibo Pure is ideal for smaller spaces 294 square feet or less. For those of us who live in smaller apartments or houses, that’s more than enough coverage. My last apartment was 550 square feet in total, so I would only have needed two of these devices spread out across the room. On their own websiteSensibo sells the Pure in bundles of up to four pieces and a discount for each additional unit you buy. This more economical option starts at just $ 159 for the solo kit or $ 596 for an additional set of three.

Like the Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool and the Sharp FXJ80UW, the Sensibo Pure also has its own app. Not only is it compatible with iOS and Android, but you can use Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant to control it or monitor air quality. It is synced to your phone or tablet over a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection. After signing up for an account, the app holds your hand through a quick and painless process. Coupled with the proprietary Pure Boost technology, which can remove even the smallest contaminated air particles, the Sensibo Pure gets the job done right without asking you to throw your entire stimulus check or tax return on it.

As of this writing, it is out of stock on Amazon, but in an email to The Inventory, the company said, “We expect new inventory to arrive at Amazon in a few days.”

Best for your office desktop: Air Duo

Illustration for article titled The Best Air Purifiers To Help You Survive Allergy SeasonPhoto: Gabe Carey

Now I know what you’re thinking: $ 149 for it !? Measure only 8 “x 6” x 4.2 “, sure that Air Duo is a pint-sized cleaner, but also an effective one. Especially since many of us spend more time working from our desks at home, this may be the only air purifier you will need. Powered by a tiny USB-C cable, Air Qi says its portable, filterless solution “outperforms the HEPA air purifiers on the market”. While I’m skeptical of this claim, I’ll say that spending most of my days rattling on my keyboard has helped me keep my sinuses in check during the week. I can barely hear it through the sound of my input while connected to a power source. Best of all, setting up the Luft Duo is as easy as plugging it in, without the need for a companion app.

Best for your car: Keysmart CleanLight Air Pro

Illustration for article titled The Best Air Purifiers To Help You Survive Allergy SeasonPhoto: Gabe Carey

Despite having a frame larger than that of the Luft Duo, the Keysmart CleanLight Air Pro is touted by its makers as the “most portable air purifier in the world”. And in a way, they’re not entirely wrong. Since it comes with a detachable floor attachment that fits perfectly in most cup holders, this is the ideal air purifier to drive around in your whip. Similar to air, a HEPA filter is dispensed with in favor of anion-based cleaning. It also uses USB-C for power, but unlike the device from air, you don’t always have to leave it connected. Instead, it has a built-in rechargeable battery that lasts 4 hours on a single charge.

However, the main advantage of the CleanLight Air Pro (aside from the cup holder ruffle) is the dual fan modes. You can keep it quiet or turn it on turbo by pressing the button above and switching between levels. Unfortunately, given their form factor, all of these additional features come at a hard-to-swallow price. However, if you’re willing to pay more than the cost of the full-size Sensibo Pure for 160 square feet of coverage, Keysmart’s smaller on-the-go air purifier can’t be beat.
