By now we all know how important a long, secure password is. With every new data breach on the news, we know we should change it. And if you can remember every unique password for every single site, that’s good for you. For the rest of us, however, we need a little help keeping our passwords organized and secure. For that we have third party password manager apps like 1Password and Dashlane.

First, find out about the services of this type of apps. Many offer free versions, but you may want to upgrade to a paid version for additional features. Then set up your master password. This is the only password you need to set on the storage. Every time you log into your account on a website or service, you’ll be taken to the password manager, prompted for your master password, and the external app logs you in from there. Basically, the third-party app creates a strong password for you and you give it permission to log into your account on your behalf.

Now you don’t have to think about unnecessary things like your mother’s maiden name or your pet’s birthday.
