Tesla Vehicles Restricted Amongst Navy Personnel in China – Report

Citing national security concerns, China is restricting the use of Tesla’s electric vehicles by some government and military workers, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal on Friday. A separate report from Bloomberg said the cars were banned in certain areas.

Tesla’s shares fell more than 4.4% at one point Friday morning.

It came after the country conducted a vehicle security check which reportedly found that Tesla’s sensors were able to record images of their surrounding locations. The journal quoted people familiar with the matter, adding that Tesla could get important data, such as when and where the cars are being used. According to the report, more personal information, such as a cell phone’s contact list, could also be captured when it is connected to the car.

China is ultimately concerned the information could be sent back to the US, according to the Journal article.

Tesla didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Tesla’s Chinese market has played an increasing role in the company’s supply and manufacturing. Sales for the electric car maker in China more than doubled last year to $ 6.66 billion, representing 21% of total sales of $ 31.54 billion. In 2019, Tesla had sales of $ 2.98 billion in China, which is only 12% of its total sales of $ 24.58 billion.

Why massive tax refunds aren’t as excessive as they appear

While it feels good to get a big tax refund every year, there is a risk that you will see this as a bonus or reward for filing your taxes. Ideally, however, you want to be as close to zero as possible as there is a better use for your money than giving the IRS an interest free loan every year.

Why don’t you want big refunds

When your income and expenses fluctuate, it can be difficult to know how much money to withhold for taxes each year. This is why it makes sense for so many people to play it safe by overestimating their taxes as it is better than dealing with an unexpected tax time deficit. Still, that’s a lot of money tied up all year round – an average of $ 2,869 for 2019, according to the IRS.

Using your tax refund as a de facto savings account isn’t necessarily wrong – especially since savings account interest rates are close to zero percent – but there are simply better ways to use that money, especially if you are in debt.

Use the money for an emergency fund, debt, or savings

Let’s say you’re pretty much everyone else and have credit card debt – say, $ 6,270, which according to the US is the average for US families latest data. If you get a total refund of $ 3,000, it just means you missed out on $ 250 monthly payments that would have cut your total credit card debt nearly in half. And if your card had an annual interest rate of 16%, you would have cut your monthly interest payments from about $ 80 to $ 40, which of course is money that is only spent on servicing the debt, not the principal.

G / O Media can receive a commission

Unless you have an emergency fund to cover three to six months of your expenses, you should have the money on hand. If you let the IRS tie it, you don’t have the same flexibility as if you put the money in an easily accessible bank account every month.

Another suggestion would be to invest those funds in retirement plans, especially if you have high-yield debt under control. This is actually a golden opportunity to save more – psychologically, you are already not used to seeing this amount as part of your monthly budget. Of course, you still need to keep track of your expenses (i.e. you won’t be saved by the annual tax refund), but it’s a great way to get serious about your 401 (k) or IRA fund.

Illustration for article titled Why Big Tax Refunds Aren't As Big As They Seem to Be

This is how you keep track of your tax withholding

Try the IRS ‘ Paycheck Checkup Tool at least twice a year that allows you to adjust your tax withholding so that your refund is closer to zero dollars (this Step-by-step tutorial video will guide you through the steps).

Another way to do this is to manually review your payroll and see how much your employer withheld for your federal income tax, and then project how much you are likely to owe over the year (if you do twice a month paid, you’d multiply the source amount by 24).

If you find that your current withholdings need adjustment, this is your place to be Fill out a new Form W-4– Take your employee’s withholding tax certificate – and submit it to your employer. Next, keep an eye on your next paychecks to make sure the change has been properly applied.

Unfortunately, freelancers have to deal with one more complicated situation This requires quarterly monitoring, but you can at least use last year’s tax liability as a benchmark if your workload is stable.

9 Methods To Save Cash At McDonald’s Together with The Choice To Get A Triple Cheeseburger For 99p Right this moment

0

BRITS love McDonald’s for their delicious snacks and great value for money – and you can make even less money with these money-saving hacks.

We spoke to some money-saving Maccies gurus to see how they can get their favorite dishes for less.

3

Here’s how to make cash on your McDonald’s orderImage Credit: Getty – Contributor

From getting your Big Mac and half-price fries to packing your burger with free toppings, you can wipe money off your bill in minutes.

Here are nine of the best hacks to make your stomach and bank account feel full:

1. Sign in to the app

There are some deals and offers that you can only get if you have the My McDonald’s app. So it’s worth signing up to get cash for your meals.

For example, if you order via the app today you will receive a triple cheeseburger for 99 pence instead of the usual 2.19 euros. This saves you 1.20 euros.

And next Tuesday (March 23rd) you will receive a whopping 30% discount on all food and drink orders made via the app.

It’s a one-time deal, but you must take advantage of it within two weeks of the offer expiring.

So when you order a Big Mac, you pay € 2.24 instead of € 3.19 – a saving of 95 pence.

The MyMcDonald’s app can be downloaded on iPhone and Android phones and is quick to set up.

You’ll need to enter card details or use Apple Pay, Android Pay, or Samsung Pay – the built-in digital wallets on phones.

2. Make a DIY Big Mac at half the price

It may be popular, but a Big Mac isn’t the cheapest item on the Maccies menu, which will set fans back to around $ 3.19.

However, if you make some changes to your order, you can make your own at half the price.

Jordan Cox, dubbed the UK’s Coupon Kid, explained to The Sun how to get a DIY Big Mac for just £ 1.49.

Order a double cheeseburger and add the items you get in a Big Mac, including onions, pickles, and shredded lettuce.

McDonald’s doesn’t let you buy Big Mac sauce to get in, says Jordon, but when you add ketchup and mustard you create a sauce that tastes similar.

“You don’t have the bun in the middle, but it tastes like a Big Mac in terms of what’s in it,” says Jordan. “You save about 2 pounds.”

3. Add extra toppings for free

The British Coupon Kid shared his top tips for saving at Maccies with The Sun.

Jordon has another tip for Maccies fans looking to get more for their money.

He says this trick allows you to pack extra toppings into your burger for free.

Order a burger through the My McDonald’s app or order it through the in-store McDonald’s payment screens to add extra toppings at no additional cost.

He told The Sun, “You can add extras by going into the customization menu.

“You can add extra cucumbers, extra lettuce, extra sauces, more onions, all for free.”

4th Leave a review and get yourself a Big Mac and Fries for £ 1.99

Another savvy shopper, Holly Smith, showed how to get a Big Mac and fries for just £ 1.99 by leaving McDonald’s a review on their food.

The Coupon Queen posted on TikTok, asking her followers to save their receipts and go to McDonald’s’ Food for Thoughts website.

You’ll need to complete a short survey asking how happy you were with your visit to your local office.

After completing the survey, you will receive a five-digit code that you must write on your receipt.

This receipt is now your voucher, which you will use to receive money from your meal.

The next time you visit McDonald’s, be sure to bring that receipt and show it at the counter to wrap up a Big Mac and fries for £ 2.19 less.

If you had bought each item individually, you’d have to spend a total of £ 4.18, including £ 3.19 for the burger and 99p for the fries.

With your voucher, however, you get half the price and only pay € 1.99.

Holly added that if you are a vegetarian you can swap the Big Mac for a Veggie Deluxe.

5. Happy meal hacks

Savvy saver Holly Smith shares two happy meal hacks that she always uses to save money

3

Savvy saver Holly Smith shares two happy meal hacks that she always uses to save money

Holly also has a few other money-saving tricks up her sleeve when ordering Happy Meals for the kids.

She told The Sun that most McDonald’s employees will replace the book or toy you receive with your Happy Meal for a fruit bag.

These fruit bags typically cost 79 pence.

“Usually the employees are more than happy, this also prevents waste,” she says.

She also says she ordered 20 McNuggets, large fries, and a large drink instead of buying three Happy Meals of Chicken McNuggets for her kids to save money.

20 Chicken McNuggets, a large drink, and large fries would pay you back a total of £ 7.67, based on the prices posted on the Burger Lad website.

A happy meal with four McNuggets, child-sized fries, apple slices and a drink is £ 2.59.

So if you have three kids like Holly, ditch the Happy Meals to save 10p – and get eight spare nuggets in the process.

6th Get freebies and discounts on your birthday

If you’re a My McDonald’s app user, you can wrap freebies and discounts on your birthday.

The chain recently sent reminders to app users to fill in their birthday details – otherwise they could miss out on birthday gifts.

McDonald’s told The Sun that the birthday deals are in line with McDonald’s offers, discounts and deals on Mondays.

This saves you money when you take it away

TAKEAWAYS taste great, but they can hit you hard in your wallet. Here are some tips on how to save on your delivery:

Cashback websites– TopCashback and Quidco pay you to order your takeaway food. They are paid by retailers for every click that comes from the cashback website to their website. How to get cashback for orders placed through them.

Discount codes – Check websites like VoucherCodes for discount codes that can be used to get money off your order.

Buy it in stores – Okay, it might not taste exactly the same, but you will save the most money by picking up your favorite dish at your local supermarket.

Student discounts – If you are in full-time education or are a member of the National Students Union, you may receive a discount of up to 15 percent on the bill. It is always worth asking before placing your order.

The chain said they could get free coffee if it was their birthday too.

The McDonald’s Monday deal on March 22nd is Chicken McNuggets for 99p.

7th Save £ 1.21 on McChicken Sandwich

The McChicken sandwich is a firm favorite of millions of Britons – but at £ 3.19, it’s a little more expensive than many of the other options on the Maccies menu.

But Save the Student’s manager Jake Butler explained to The Sun how you can get it for less by simply ordering two mayo chicken burgers.

Although both have the same ingredients – a chicken patty, lettuce, and mayo – the mayo chicken burger is about three-quarters the size of a McChicken sandwich, says Jake.

“To make up for that difference, you can just order two mayo chickens for a total of £ 1.98 – and it’s still less than the £ 3.19 for a McChicken sandwich,” he says.

8th. Change your wording to save money

A former McDonald’s employee showed how you can save money by changing the way you order your food.

TikTok user Jodessy shared a video titled “Secrets I Know From Working at McDonald’s,” in which she revealed her wise advice.

If you want to replace an item in your order with another, make sure you use the word “sub”. This means that you will not be charged any additional costs for the replacement.

Jodessy gave an example of how the hack can save customers $ 2.

In the clip she said, “If you order a big breakfast of hot cakes but don’t like hash browns, most of you will say no hash browns, but I want extra bacon.

“The person will remove the hash browns and add the extra bacon button and you only spent $ 2 for no reason.

“Use the word ‘sub’ instead, say no ‘hash brown sub bacon’, the cashier pushes this button and you won’t be charged extra.”

Jodessy used to work in a branch outside the UK but said the hack was “universal”. So it’s worth trying it out here in the UK to save some money.

9. Get a free hot chocolate

Another savvy TikToker saver has shown how to get a hot chocolate for free at McDonald’s instead of spending £ 1.49.

TikTok user Kyle said all you have to do is go to a cashier and ask for a free cup of hot water and two sachets of chocolate sauce.

Stir the chocolate sauces into the hot water and mix well until the liquids are completely combined to create your own hot chocolate.

The video went viral, garnering over 535,000 social media likes and hundreds of comments from grateful customers.

Thursday’s Best Deals | Kinja Deals

It’s March 17, and we at Kinja Deals are here to bring you the top 10 deals of the day. Save your money while filing for taxes this year by cashing in on an Newegg’s H&R Block sale. Upgrade your mattress by taking 30% off Tempur-Cloud Mattress. And start your YouTube channel right with the TaoTronics 12″ Selfie Ring Light.

If you’re still craving more deals, take a peek at Thursday’s best deals overall.

The Godfather got it right—if you have something you believe in, it might be time to go to the mattresses. Do you know what I believe in? A good night’s sleep. Not the light stuff, but the snoring, drool leaking out the side of your mouth, and eye bookers forming on the sides of your eyes once you wake up kind of sleep. The kind of sleep where you don’t even know where the hell you are after. You can only do that with either—massive amounts of melatonin, or a groundbreaking mattress.

Luckily for you, there’s a deal on just that. For a short time, you can get 30% off Tempur-Cloud Mattress over at Tempur-Pedic. It has a specific comfort layer that provides 40% more pressure-relieving power than other mattresses on the market. The mattress learns your shape and adapts to your weight for a personalized, supportive sleep. Because of our exclusive promo code KINJA30, you’ll save about $420 (nice) on a queen-sized mattress, bringing the price to $980. Yes, you can use the code for Twin, Full, King, Split King, and California King. So honestly, go a little crazy. The streets will be (safely) open soon, so you should get some rest before then.

It’s no secret that our readers LOVE Eight Sleep’s Pod mattress and Pod Pro Cover, as evidenced by our Co-op responses when we asked commenters about their top mattress picks as well as the overwhelming number of people that read (and are still reading) our Pod Pro Cover review. Now you can treat your back to both in this rare special offer.

For $150 off the list price, you don’t want to sleep on this Pod mattress markdown. Well, you DO want to sleep on the mattress, just not the price cut. You get me. Just hear what one of our readers had to say:

I still really love my Sleep Pod (by Eight Sleep). I wouldn’t say it’s the most comfortable mattress but I’ll forgo some of that comfort for the ability to cool/heat the bed throughout the night. During the heatwave here in California (Los Angeles to be more precise), we didn’t need to run our HVAC overnight as the bed was cool and comfortable throughout the evening. – manueld

The Pod Cover, on the other hand, isn’t a mattress at all. Instead, it’s a topper designed to add Pod-like smarts to your existing mattress. And for a limited time, it’s also $50 less. In her review of the Pod Pro Cover, our own Chaya Milchtein wrote this:

When I upgraded my mattress two years ago to a Big Fig Mattress, specifically for large-bodied people like me, I thought that I was getting the best, most luxurious sleep of my life. It was the perfect firm bed, didn’t dip or sag and I slept like a baby. And I really was getting the best sleep of my life. Until now. After sleeping for a week on the Eight Sleep Pod Pro Cover, it turns out I was wrong. My sleep could totally get better. And get better without having to give up my beloved Big Fig Mattress.

On our first night sleeping on the Pod Pro Cover, we each set up the bed to what we thought our preferences would be. It’s not a one size fits all, and the app allows you to set different temperatures for falling asleep, mid-sleep, and waking up. My wife runs hot at night, often waking up sweating, so she set up her side to start off warm and cozy, but cool down significantly when the bed senses she has fallen asleep. But because she initially made the bed way too cold, she woke up in the middle of the night freezing. After 2 days or so spent toying with the settings, however, we arrived at the ideal sleeping temperature for us both. Now that we’re all set, we should be good to go ‘til spring.

As for the accessories, as long as you purchase either the Pod or Pod Pro Cover, you can shave 20% off those. Among them you’ll find carbon-infused foam pillows, sheet sets, and even a foundation to plop your mattress on top of—no box spring required. If you’re looking to spend your stimulus check or tax return on something a little more practical, you can’t go wrong with Eight Sleep.

It’s official: American taxpayers have been granted an additional month to file their taxes for 2020, with the date sliding to May 17 amidst ongoing pandemic hardship. That’s either another few weeks to procrastinate doing anything until the last minute, or—more sensibly—a smoother runway for getting them done without undue stress. I suggest the latter option!

If your taxes are a bit more complex than average or you want to dig deep into your finances to hunt for deductions, then you might want to grab one of H&R Block’s specially-designed software suites. Luckily, Newegg is offering big savings on them this week, taking up to 66% off the list price for tax software.

H&R Block’s Deluxe 2020 federal software is just $14 with promo code HRBD25 at checkout, while the Deluxe 2020 federal + state package is $15 with promo code HRBDLS8. Meanwhile, the Premium 2020 federal/state option—ideal for self-employed people or those with rental income—is $25 when you use code HRBPB35 at checkout.

These are all for physical key cards that let you download either the Windows or Mac version once redeemed. And it’s free shipping for all of ‘em, too.

Back at the launch of Destiny 2: Beyond Light, I made my not-so triumphant return to the Crucible, the game’s PVP mode. As it turned out, everyone had gotten better at the game, and I’d gotten much worse. If you want to raise your K/D ratio fast, here’s a tip: all you have to do is log into a match that I’m in and wait for me to shoot hand cannon shots 20 feet above your head, giving you ample time to one-shot me with just about any weapon, it seems.

If you’re a PlayStation owner and you want in on this easy target practice, you’ll need to make sure you have PlayStation Plus, which allows you to play games like Destiny 2 online. You can get a full year of Sony’s online service for $27 after service fees from Eneba by using the code STIMULATINGPSDEAL at checkout. Streaming is a funny thing. On the one hand, you have nearly any show you could wish for at your fingertips, ready for you to binge after logging off for the weekend. On the other hand, those shows are fragmented across so many apps and services that it’s hard to track down where to find anything, let alone how to pay for it all. Luckily, free trials exist to let you blitz through your most anticipated or beloved shows while taking the service out for a spin, all without having to commit. By the end of it, maybe you’ll have found a new catalog of shows and movies to sink your teeth into, or maybe you’ll just be grateful for the time you spent together.

Right now, you can get a month of Paramount+ (formerly CBS All Access) for free through Amazon. After your first month, it’ll cost $6, but you can always cancel ahead of time if it’s not your jam, and that’s a problem for future you, anyways.

In the meantime, you’ll get access to content from CBS, Comedy Central, BET, Nickelodeon, and MTV. You can catch old favorites like (pardon me for dating myself) Clone High and Daria, Hey Arnold!, Key & Peele, and Rugrats. There’s also plenty of originals to choose from, too, like Star Trek: Picard, Kamp Koral, and The Good Fight.

March Madness starts Thursday—and you know what else is happening Thursday? The dang Snyder Cut comes out. So now matter what kind of person you are, be it a hoops fan or someone who thinks Justice League needed to be 4 hours long, you might be thinking about upgrading your TV to something with a bit more pizzaz. And for those on a budget, there are few better places to start than with a Hisense.

You may not have heard of it a few years ago, but Hisense is one of the most prominent TV manufacturers on the market, and its offerings range from 32″ 720p displays to massive 4K QLEDs, all of which run on the Android TV operating system. Just sign into your Google account and you’re all set. Some models even have premium features like Dolby Vision HDR and Google Assistant, saving you the trouble of typing long passwords and instead letting you speak your queries into the remote itself.

Leading into one of the biggest basketball events of the year, a large swath of the Hisense TV selection is on sale, for a limited time, starting at a mere $150 for that aforementioned H55 standard HD model. For a mere $80 more, you can step it up to a 43″ 1080p full HD set discounted to $230. Michelle replied, “Taxi” and led Jimmy to clap his hands for joy. He probably should have skipped to the next question, though.

“But I didn’t see anything either,” she informed him then. Uff. He immediately looked emptied when he asked: “What are you talking about? No, you don’t even dare!”

The Covid Pandemic Plunges 75 Million Folks Into India Into Poverty: Research

Around 75 million people in India fell into poverty last year as a result of the pandemic-triggered economic recession, compared to what would have been without the outbreak, an analysis by the Pew Research Center found Thursday.

That number for India represents nearly 60% of the global poverty increase in 2020, the analysis found. It defined the poor as people who live on $ 2 or less a day.

India has experienced one of the largest Covid-19 outbreaks in the world. As of Friday, the country had reported a total of 11.51 million infections – just behind the US and Brazil – and over 159,300 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.

The International Monetary Fund forecast that the Indian economy will shrink 8% in the fiscal year ending this month before growing 11.5% in the next fiscal year from April.

The rise in poverty in India “is leading to multi-year progress on this front,” wrote Rakesh Kochhar, lead researcher at the Pew Research Center, in a report.

From 2011 to 2019, the number of poor people in India fell from 340 million to 78 million, he said in the report. Without the pandemic, this number would have fallen further to 59 million last year, but according to the analysis, it is expected to rise to 134 million.

Growth in the country’s middle class has also been hampered. The middle income, defined as $ 10.01 to $ 20 per day, grew in India from $ 29 million to $ 87 million between 2011 and 2019 – and is expected to drop to $ 66 million in 2020 due to the Covid recession, said Kochhar.

Smaller impact in China

Like India, China has a large population of around 1.4 billion people. However, according to the Pew Research Center, the poverty impact of the pandemic in China was much smaller.

China’s economy grew 2.3% last year and is expected to grow 8.1% this year, according to the latest IMF forecast. It was the only major economy to grow in 2020 – and that helped keep poverty “practically unchanged,” Kochhar said.

The analysis on India and China accompanied the Pew Research Center report on how the Covid-19 outbreak affected income levels around the world.

Globally, another 131 million people became poor due to the global recession last year, compared to what it would have been if the pandemic hadn’t happened, the research firm said.

“Given that India and China, each with around 1.4 billion people, make up more than a third of the world’s population, the course of the pandemic in these two countries – and how each recovers – will have a significant impact on changes in distribution of income on a global scale, “it said.

India Covid-19 vaccination marketing campaign, weighs the director of the Serum Institute

India will likely take at least three to four months to complete Covid-19 vaccination efforts for frontline workers and people over 60 or with underlying health conditions, the executive director of the Serum Institute of India said Thursday.

In January, the South Asian country launched the world’s largest vaccination campaign for around 300 million people out of its massive population of 1.3 billion. According to the Indian Ministry of Health, more than 36 million people had been vaccinated by Wednesday evening.

“The number of doses required in India is enormous,” Suresh Jadhav told CNBC’s Capital Connection, adding that the vaccination program is a gigantic task that cannot be completed in a short period of time.

“This program will continue at a rate of about 50 (million) to 60 million doses per month and cover that population of 300 million in an additional three to four months,” he said.

Jadhav attended the Asian Development Bank’s Southeast Asia Development Symposium 2021 this week.

Based in Pune, India, the Serum Institute has become a key player in the Covid vaccination effort in both India and around the world. It is the largest vaccine maker in the world by volume, making the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Anglo-Swedish pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca and Oxford University, known locally as Covishield.

It has delivered millions of doses to the Government of India as well as Covax, a global vaccination initiative led by the World Health Organization and others, to ensure an equitable distribution of the shots in less affluent countries.

In response to growing demand for its Covid vaccine, Adar Poonawalla, CEO of the Serum Institute, asked foreign governments to be patient last month and said, without further explanation, the company had been asked to meet domestic demand first.

Jadhav stated that the Serum Institute is able to fulfill current orders from the Indian government and said it has already delivered around 59 million doses to Covax. He added that the Serum Institute plans to expand capacity by late April or early May to add another 40 to 50 million doses to production.

Currently, the Serum Institute can reportedly produce more than 70 million doses per month.

Last week, the U.S., Japan, and Australia pledged to help Indian companies expand their Covid vaccine manufacturing capacity and add more doses to the global supply pool.

India also uses a locally developed vaccine from Bharat Biotech, which was developed in collaboration with the Indian State Council for Medical Research.

Skin care products can be a hit or a miss. A quick Google search reveals lots of negative reviews for “cult favorites” that supposedly work for everyone (but obviously not because there are so many different skin types).

Finding products that work for you is therefore usually a trial and error, so you’ll have at least a few unused lotions or serums tucked somewhere in your bathroom. Now a beauty company wants to pay someone to try, rate, and write reviews of their products. Here’s how you can take on the role of Product Quality Executive.

On an hourly basis, that’s roughly $ 16.66, better than the minimum wage, even if you’re somewhere with a minimum wage of $ 15 Life.

Once selected, the new employee will select a variety of Herbal Dynamics beauty products (valued up to $ 500) to try. (The company may also make suggestions based on the person’s skin type if they are unsure.)
