Piers Morgan is leaving ITV’s “Good Morning Britain” morning show after receiving backlash Monday over his comments on Meghan Markle.

The news comes shortly after UK broadcaster Ofcom said it was investigating Morgan after more than 41,000 people complained.

“After talking to ITV, Piers Morgan has decided that now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain,” the network said in a statement on Tuesday. “ITV accepted this decision and nothing more to add.”

Just hours earlier, Morgan was called by co-host Alex Beresford on Good Morning Britain for his behavior towards the Duchess of Sussex. Beresford said Morgan has been relentlessly critical of Meghan over the past few years, citing comments Morgan made that challenged Meghan’s truthfulness when she spoke about her suicidal thoughts.

“I understand you don’t like Meghan Markle,” Beresford told Morgan. “You have made it so clear several times in this program. Several times. And I understand that you have or had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off. She has the right to cut you off.” If she wants. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she did, but you keep breaking her anyway. “

The incident in the air caused Morgan to walk off the set.

Beresford called after him and said the move was “pathetic”.

“This is absolutely diabolical behavior,” added Beresford with Morgan off-camera. “I’m sorry, but Piers spits regularly and we all have to sit there and listen – it was incredibly difficult to see, incredibly difficult to see yesterday, from 6:30 to 7:00.”

Morgan later reappeared on the set and retraced some of his remarks on Meghan. He said it was not his position to question their sanity.

The broadcaster’s recent comments on Meghan relate to an explosive interview she and Prince Harry gave Oprah Winfrey that aired on Sunday in the US and Monday in the UK. More than 17.1 million people in the US have tuned in to the event and more than 12 million viewers have watched the broadcast in the UK, according to ITV Tuesday.

The interview delved into the reasons the couple had decided to leave England and break away from their royal duties. Meghan and Harry brought up what they said was a lack of support Meghan received when she went to the palace about mental health issues, the denial of security protection for the family, and the concerns of some kings about how the skin tone of their son Archie would be if he did it once was born.

Queen Elizabeth said Tuesday that the royal family would address Harry and Meghan’s allegations of racism at Buckingham Palace.

Rachel Lindsay is “disturbed” after Matt James’ televised interview together with his father

The former Bachelorette star openly criticized the show’s decision to broadcast the personal chat. “Who’s got the green light on this question? If you have an affiliate diversity advisor that you keep telling us about, and I even praised the fact that you had it, why do things like this still happen?” She asked. “The more things change, the more they stay the same, and if the Bachelor franchise showed us something, they don’t know how to protect people with color. They just know how to exploit them. They just know how they act wrong. ” Situations in which they come to the race. They have shown us that over and over again. America should never have shown that. “

Rachel admitted that Matt’s conversation with his father might have been necessary, but that didn’t mean the audience had to join in too. “This was a conversation that should have been for Matt only, not the rest of the world,” she said. “It shows that you don’t care about your candidates, especially those of color – the fact that you were more willing to take advantage of him and stereotypes within the black community for what you would call ‘good television’. ”

The former reality TV star also questioned how that conversation was aired while the franchise, including the host, continued to address issues of inclusion and diversity Chris HarrisonRecent problematic comments to Rachel about the candidate Rachael Kirkconnell. “I know Matt was uncomfortable with that conversation,” Rachel said, “and that it was going to be aired.”

The situation was a reminder of why she continued to demand that people of color be included in the franchise decision-making process. “That’s why I keep going back to it – you have to have someone of color in the decision-making room,” she urged. “If I had been there, absolutely not.”

A CDC research discovered that about 78% of individuals within the hospital had been obese or overweight

An overwhelming majority of people who were hospitalized, needed a ventilator, or died of Covid-19 were overweight or obese, the CDC said in a new study on Monday.

Of 148,494 adults diagnosed with Covid-19 during an emergency room or inpatient visit at 238 U.S. hospitals from March to December, 71,491 were hospitalized. According to the CDC report, 27.8% of those admitted were overweight and 50.2% were obese. Overweight has a body mass index of 25 or more, while obesity has a BMI of 30 or more.

The agency found that the risk of hospitalizations, ICU admissions, and deaths were lowest among those with BMIs under the age of 25. However, the risk of serious illness “rose sharply” as BMIs increased, particularly in those 65 and over.

According to the latest statistics from the agency, just over 42% of the US population was considered obese in 2018.

It doesn’t take many extra pounds to be considered overweight or obese. A 5-foot-10-inch 175-pound man and a 5-foot-4-inch 146-pound woman with a BMI of just over 25 would be considered obese, according to the CDC’s BMI calculator. A man and woman of the same height would be considered obese at 210 pounds and 175 pounds, respectively.

“When clinicians develop care plans for COVID-19 patients, they should consider the risk of serious outcomes in patients with higher BMI, especially those with severe obesity,” the agency wrote.

The CDC added that the results highlight the clinical and health implications of higher BMIs, including promoting Covid prevention strategies such as continued prioritization, masking and vaccine guidelines to ensure population access to diet and physical activity.

Obesity is a common and costly chronic disease in the United States. Non-Hispanic black adults have the highest prevalence of self-reported obesity in the United States, followed by Hispanic adults and non-Hispanic whites, according to the CDC.

The CDC previously found that obesity increases the risk of serious illnesses, including hospitalization. Obesity is linked to impaired immune function and decreased lung capacity, which can make ventilation difficult, the agency said.

The study had limitations, the CDC said. Risk estimates for severe Covid-19 were only measured in adults who were treated in a hospital. Therefore, these estimates could differ from the risk in all adults with Covid, the CDC said. In addition, only patients with information on height and weight were included in the report.

The CDC received data from PHD-SR, a large database in hospitals.

It’s best to end your corn canine within the air fryer

Corn dogs are a breakfast food (sausage, fried batter – it’s all there!), And the best breakfast foods are ones that are quick and easy to prepare, even in a non-caffeinated state. Frozen corn dogs are almost that. They heat up quickly in the microwave and delicious in the oven, but the former makes the batter all rubbery and the latter takes too long to be quick and easy. I thought my little air fryer was the perfect, elegant solution to my puzzle, but I was wrong – once in my life.

Illustration for article titled You Should Finish Your Corn Dogs In The Air Fryer

That’s true. After many months, I finally found a frozen food – and a dog– it doesn’t work very well in the air fryer. Frozen corn dogs dipped straight into the tiny hot air oven are just too frozen, at least in the middle, and the batter is too greasy. When the dough is faced with the hot, peppy winds of an air fryer, it fries too quickly in its own fat, and the canine portion never gets a chance to warm up properly.

Have you ever bitten into something that looks hot and tasty only to be betrayed from the inside? If you’re a member of the Hot Pocket generation, I know you have it, and you know it sucks. You may also know that a two-appliance approach is the answer.

In the past, I’ve used both the microwave and the oven to keep frozen food consistently hot throughout the interior and crispy outside. I also used a vacuum circulator cook a pesky hot pocket. Both methods worked wonderfully, but they also added a lot of time. I think you see where I’m going with it

Frozen corn dogs just don’t work in the air fryer. (If my ego account isn’t enough to convince you, read the comments too this blog.) The device is a great tool, however, to finish them off after a quick blast in the microwave. Like the French bread pizzas of my youth, the corn dogs cooked using this multi-method approach come out heated throughout, but with a lot of texture.

It’s also a much faster cooking method than any of the air fryer-only recipes. All you have to do is take a frozen corn dog, loosely wrap it in a paper towel, and place it in the microwave on full power for a minute. Preheat your air fryer to 400 ° C while using the microwave. Then, when you hear the microwave sing its sweet song of success, place the corn dog in the air fryer basket and cook for 2-3 minutes, depending on how dark you like your batter. Eat the corn dog (hopefully for breakfast) then go about your day.

Looking ahead to the week ahead, he said, “In this week’s data file, Friday is a short-term indicator day – the UK reports monthly GDP results, industrial and manufacturing output and trade account.”

Vessey continued, “The volatility in the bond markets has shocked the equity and currency markets over the past few weeks, but the bond sell-off should be contained by central bankers with a strong verbal repetition in the coming days.

Test-out donations are literally not a rip-off

It’s one of those grocery formalities that many shoppers ignore: when you check out, you are sometimes asked if you would like to donate to a charity before swiping your card.

It’s not a mysterious issue at all, but it seems that a lot of people don’t understand how the donation system works at the grocery checkout counter. Case in point: a tweet with inaccurate information went viral last week claiming that participating grocery stores have already made donations to nonprofits for a tax write-off and are only collecting customer money as a refund. The donation, according to the tweet, is just a ploy to make profit under the guise of charity.

While allegations of corporate misconduct and general greed will always spark outrage, this tweet shot through the social media stratosphere despite a lack of context or evidence. It’s just totally wrong, too. Let’s demystify how these donations really work from a tax standpoint.

Illustration for article titled Check Out Donations are actually not a scam

No, the grocery store will not refund your money

There are two types of grocery checkout donations that involve point-of-sale transactions. The first, which requires a co-venture between a grocery store and a nonprofit or nonprofit, occurs when the market donates a percentage of its sales. C0 ventures in general, are regulated by the state governments. As the Council of Nonprofits notes, failure to comply with government regulations on collaborations “can result in fines and, in some states, even criminal penalties.”

These collaborations make up a percentage of a customer’s sales and can be arranged in a number of ways. Renu Zaretsky declared for the Tax Policy Center last year how her particular grocery store deals with it:

For example, my local grocery chain offers “community rewards” when I scan my buyer’s card at the checkout. A small part of the proceeds from my purchases go to a community organization of my choosing (that of my son) Middle school).

Traditionally, like any business in America, grocery stores have been able to deduct up to 10 percent of their taxable income annually for charity, and that number was increased when last year Congress passed the CARES law. The way it works in reality, grocery stores use a small portion of their own sales as a charitable donation. In contrast to last week’s viral tweet, the donation is made at the point of sale – you don’t use the system to reimburse yourself for a previous donation.

What happens when you donate?

Then there’s another type of supermarket donation where the customer rounds up their purchase by a few dollars (or more if they want) and donates the extra money to a charity chosen by the store. But here, too, there is no sneaky, unspoken trick.

The Tax Policy Center explains how this works:

The shop serves only as a collection point for your gift. Assuming the company complies with legal requirements, your donation will not be considered as part of its business receipts or earnings, nor will the donation gift be claimed as an expense.

In other words, your gift will not affect the business’s income taxes. Remember, the business will select the receiving charity. So make sure it does one that you can support. As a customer, the donation will appear on your receipt and you can claim it as a charitable deduction when you file your income tax return. But you probably won’t.

When you receive the receipt for the donation (and if the donation goes to a 501 (c) (3) registered nonprofit) you can deduct it from your personal income on your taxes. For the 2020 tax year, you can deduct up to $ 300 in charitable donations without listing.

Needless to say, there is a specific public relations tactic that markets use to encourage customers to donate to charity. But the grocery stores don’t use manipulative tactics – and you can benefit from them if you have a shrewd mind with your taxes. And as always, your personal finance advice will not be available on social media.

This is why George Clooney will get in “hassle” with Ms. Amal

Doug Ross has a lot to explain.

During the March 8th episode of the SmartLess podcast George Clooney revealed that his wife Amal Clooney bingt his hit show ER.

And for anyone who’s never seen the medical drama series, George’s character Doug wasn’t the best person in the world.

“My wife is watching her now,” he told the hosts Sean Hayes, Jason Bateman and Will Arnett“And it gets me in big trouble because I forgot all the terrible things he did to pick up women.”

When Jason suggested that Amal be hit by her husband’s evil doctor, George remarked, “Yes, this is not my wife.”

During the interview, the Money Monster star also spoke about the magical moment he first met his six-year-old wife. As is well known, the film star once announced that he would “never marry again” immediately after his divorce from Talia balm In 1993, however, he revealed that Amal “took my breath away”.

Nasdaq futures rise 2.5% when bond yields fall, Dow futures acquire 170 factors

Stock futures rose early in the day of trading after bond yields fell, prompting investors to buy the decline in battered tech stocks.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 179 points, or 0.6%. S&P 500 futures were up 1%.

The big step, however, was the future of the tech-intensive Nasdaq 100, which rose 2.5%. Tesla shares rose 5% in premarket trading, while Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Netflix and Alphabet all gained at least 2%.

Technology stocks should rebound from heavy losses as bond yields stabilize. The 10-year government bond yield fell more than 6 basis points to 1.52%. It was trading at 1.62% on Monday.

The Dow rose more than 300 points on Monday as investors were optimistic about the economic comeback of the pandemic. Tech stocks didn’t participate on Monday, however. The Nasdaq Composite lost 2% as a rapid rise in interest rates led investors to exit expensive tech stocks. The tech benchmark closed more than 10% below its February 12 closing high and fell into correction territory.

“Right now the market is expanding and we believe the bull market is getting stronger in a sense and that will be to our advantage in the long run,” said Cathie Wood of Ark Investment Management on Monday at CNBC’s Closing Bell.

“We have great opportunities” in the sell-off to buy the game-only names in the fund, added Wood, who is focused on disruptive technology stocks.

Lately, high-growth names have come under pressure as rising interest rates make their future earnings less valuable today and compress the high valuations of stocks. Hedge fund manager David Tepper said Monday the recent sharp rise in interest rates is likely over and it is difficult to be bearish on stocks right now. Tepper noticed that names like Amazon were starting to look attractive.

Over the weekend, the Senate passed a $ 1.9 trillion economic relief and incentive bill that is slated to include another round of economic reviews. President Joe Biden is expected to sign the bill by March 14th.

The economic news caused investors to focus on reopening games and cyclical stocks to look to a strong economic recovery. Banks, airlines, cruise lines and retailers led the gains on Monday.

Analyst on the outlook for Prime Glove, Malaysian glove shares

0

SINGAPORE – The recent fall in prices for Malaysian rubber glove manufacturers is “unjustified,” said an analyst who predicts further uptrend for stocks.

Top Glove, the world’s largest manufacturer of rubber gloves, was down 17.7% this year at the close of trading on Monday. The smaller colleagues Hartalega, Supermax and Kossan fell between 18% and 30%.

In comparison, the benchmark index FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI fell 0.9% over the same period.

Employees at Top Glove, the world’s largest glove manufacturer, will test latex glove production in a waterproof test room at one of the company’s factories in Selangor, Malaysia on February 18, 2020.

“We are maintaining our overweight position in the sector as we believe the recent decline in share prices is not justified,” wrote Ng Chi Hoong, an analyst at Malaysian investment bank Affin Hwang, in a report on Monday.

The decline in Malaysian glove inventories followed a significant jump last year as the Covid-19 pandemic boosted demand for medical gloves.

Factors affecting investor confidence in the stocks include a potential decline in glove retail prices with lower demand as more people are vaccinated around the world, Ng said.

In addition, Top Glove’s plans to list in Hong Kong – the third public listing after Malaysia and Singapore – also sparked concerns that the company is raising funds in anticipation of a weaker outlook, he said.

But those concerns are likely to subside, Ng said. Here are its target prices for Malaysia’s glove inventory.

Affin Hwang’s target price for Malaysian glove stocks

Stocks Monday is over (Malaysian ringgit) Guide price (Malaysian ringgit) head
Top glove 5.04 10.10 100%
Hartalega 9.70 5 p.m. 75%
Super max 4.21 10.90 159%
Kossan 3.66 9.30 154%

Challenge to stay above pre-covid levels

The analyst said the increase in average glove retail prices was unsustainable and forecast a 30% to 35% price drop in 2022. Still, prices are likely to stay above pre-pandemic levels for at least the next two to three years. he said.

This is partly because the demand for gloves is expected to continue to grow in the coming years as the medical sector makes more personal protective equipment use, Ng said.

He added that he agreed with the report by consultants Frost and Sullivan, commissioned by Top Glove, which said demand for disposable gloves would grow an average of 15% annually for the next five years.

Such demand growth would be accompanied by a 20% annual supply increase over the next few years, Ng said.

Top Glove is planning a listing in Hong Kong

Another development that has fueled recent price moves in Malaysian glove stocks is Top Glove’s planned third listing in Hong Kong.

The company announced last month that it had applied for a “double primary listing” in Hong Kong that could raise up to 7.7 billion ringgit ($ 1.87 billion). It said it will keep its current primary listing in Malaysia and secondary listing in Singapore.

Investors reacted negatively to news that the additional listing would dilute Top Glove’s earnings per share.

Nonetheless, Ng has kept his buy recommendation for Top Glove and his Malaysian colleagues. He said the decline in stock prices had lowered valuations to levels “too cheap to ignore”.

The analyst added that Malaysian glove makers have a higher dividend yield and better return on equity compared to their international counterparts – a measure of financial performance.

Top Glove on Tuesday reported an increase in quarterly earnings to 2.87 billion ringgit ($ 695 million) for the three months ended February from 115.68 million ringgit ($ 28.03 million) a year ago.

The company said global demand for gloves continues to be “strong” as the Covid pandemic has led to an increase in glove use and hygiene awareness.
