EU Covid Vaccine Highlight As Italy Blocks Delivery To Australia

LONDON – Europe’s launch of coronavirus vaccines has once again been in the spotlight after the Italian government blocked a shipment of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines to Australia.

The EU has made an effort to spread Covid-19 shots across the 27-person region and is lagging behind other advanced economies in terms of the number of vaccinations per citizen. There have been complaints that regulators are too slow to approve vaccines, manufacturing and delivery issues, and bureaucratic issues that are hampering the process.

However, new questions were raised on Thursday when Italy became the first EU country to apply the bloc’s new rules that allow exports to be halted if necessary. The move stopped around 250,000 doses of the vaccine from its Anagni, Italy facility that was being shipped to Australia.

The introduction of vaccines in Europe “will be an uphill battle,” Daniel Gros, director of the think tank at the Center for European Policy Studies in Brussels, Belgium, told CNBC on Friday.

How the EU got here

At the end of January, the EU announced new rules that would allow European member states that manufacture coronavirus shots to ban their exports in the event that the pharmaceutical company concerned fails to comply with existing contracts with the bloc.

The EU and AstraZeneca were at odds with the drugmaker unable to fire as many shots as the bloc expected for the first quarter. There were also doubts about how many shots the company will deliver in the second quarter.

The EU is being toasted for what the US is doing in a more radical form.

Daniel Gros

Director of CEPS

Pascal Soriot, CEO of AstraZeneca, said late last month that the vaccine shortage was due to yield issues and that his company was working around the clock to increase production.

French Health Minister Olivier Veran said on Friday morning that France could repeat Italy’s step. Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn said there had been no reason to stop shipping vaccines made in Germany to other countries, according to Reuters.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, said last month that around 95% of EU vaccines exported since late January were made by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna, as both companies respected their agreement with the EU.

At the time, she also said the US and UK had systems in place to block exports of these vaccines.

Europe is being “roasted” for what others are doing too

“The EU is being roasted for something that the US is doing in a more radical form,” said Gros from the CEPS.

“The amount was tiny. But as always, people jump on symbols. The US doesn’t have the problem of having to stop vaccines at the border because no one would think of exporting anything from the US,” he added.

In an executive order in early December, then-President Donald Trump ordered that the US should only export vaccines made in the country once it was determined that there were sufficient doses to vaccinate the American population.

“Now that it is determined that there is adequate supply of COVID-19 vaccine doses for all Americans who choose to vaccinate, allies, partners and others need to facilitate international access to COVID-19 vaccines for the US government and in accordance with applicable law, “says the regulation.

Delivery to Australia has been blocked as the country is not on the EU’s list of nations at risk. The EU regulation exempts distribution to poorer nations from being blocked by the member states.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said at a news conference Friday that the country’s vaccination program would “continue unabated”, adding that the broadcast in question was not what they had anticipated for the rollout.

Australia has reportedly asked the European Commission to review Italy’s decision to block the broadcast. However, Morrison admitted that he understood why there would be high levels of concern in Italy and across Europe.

“We should not forget that the EU is providing vaccines for the south of the world and at the same time preventing this delivery to Australia,” Alberto Alemanno, professor of European law at HEC Paris, told CNBC on Friday.

He added that “the EU export control regulation embodies the EU’s legitimate attempt to gain some sovereign autonomy”.

Besides, Palermo said the county just wanted to give the Cayugas a chance to get their farm back.

Watch the moon and three planets line up at daybreak

It is easy enough to see the moon, but it can be much more difficult to figure out which of the points in the night sky are the planets. You see a particularly bright object and wonder whether it is a planet, a particularly shining star, or perhaps an airplane. Well, over the next three days, identifying the planets will be a lot easier than usual as the moon will be aligned with Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn just before sunrise. Here’s what to know.

Illustration for article titled Watch the Moon and 3 Planets Line Up at Dawn

As you can see how the moon aligns with three planets

This all goes down (up?) At dawn on March 8th, 9th and 10th EarthSky. Just look for the illuminated side of the waning crescent and it will point you straight to the row of planets. Saturn will be on top, Jupiter in the middle (and the brightest of the three) and Mercury on the bottom. And while it may be possible to see the planets without any equipment, use binoculars for a better view.

You can find more information here courtesy of EarthSky:

Jupiter, the most brilliant morning planet, outshines Saturn by 12 times and Mercury by 7 times. Although Mercury is a touch brighter than Saturn, Saturn will likely be the easiest to spot of these two worlds as Saturn ascends first, followed by Jupiter and then Mercury. Mercury is buried deepest in the dawn glow, but try aiming binoculars at Jupiter to look at Mercury below Jupiter.

This is one of those situations where you need to look up the time of sunrise in your area and then get up and go outside beforehand to make sure you have a chance to see the moon and planets. (You can then go back to bed.)

With this tool from the Peasant almanacEarthSky calculated the approximate rise time for Mercury – the last of the three planets to ascend – at different latitudes (assuming a flat horizon):

40 degrees north latitude: Mercury rises about 1 hour (60 minutes) before the sun

Equator (0 degrees latitude): Mercury rises about 1 2/3 hours (100 minutes) before the sun

35 degrees south latitude: Mercury rises about 2 1/5 hours (132 minutes) before the sun

So wrap up, grab your binoculars, and look outside for a look at this solid lineup.

The US will defend troops after a missile strike in Iraq, says Lloyd Austin

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin speaks to Department of Defense officials during a visit by United States President Joe Biden to the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia on February 10, 2021.

Carlos Barria | Reuters

WASHINGTON – Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin warned those responsible for last week’s missile strike against an Iraqi base housing American troops.

“The message to those who would launch such an attack is that we must do what is necessary to defend ourselves,” Austin said in an interview with ABC on Sunday.

“We will strike if we believe we must do it at a time and place of our choosing. We are calling for the right to protect our troops,” he said, adding that the US is the intelligence community with its Iraqi partners still check.

Defense officials previously said the attack had typical features of a strike by Iranian-backed groups. Iran has refused to participate.

When asked whether Iran would see a possible US reaction as an escalation of tensions, the new Pentagon chief and retired four-star army reiterated that Washington would do everything possible to safeguard American and American interests to protect the region.

“What they [Iranians] From this, in turn, it should follow that we will defend our troops and our response will be thoughtful. It will be appropriate, “said Austin.” We would hope that they choose to do the right things, “he added.

On Sunday, the US military’s central command, which oversees the wars in the Middle East, flew its fourth bombing mission into the region.

The Show of Force mission included two B-52H Stratofortress bombers alongside aircraft from Israel, Saudi Arabia and Qatar at various points to “deter aggression and reassure partners and allies of the US military’s commitment to security in the region” .

Last month, Iran declined an invitation from the world powers that had signed the 2015 nuclear deal to discuss the regime’s possible return to the negotiating table. This was a major setback to the Biden government’s efforts to revitalize the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The White House said the Biden administration was disappointed with Iran’s decision to skip the informal meeting but would “re-engage in meaningful diplomacy to achieve a mutual return to JCPOA commitments.”

Biden’s government has previously stated that it intends to revive the nuclear deal but will not suspend sanctions until Tehran returns to compliance. Tehran has refused to negotiate as long as the US sanctions remain in place.

The 2015 JCPOA brokered by the Obama administration lifted sanctions against Iran, which had paralyzed its economy and roughly halved its oil exports. In exchange for billions of dollars in sanction relief, Iran agreed to dismantle part of its nuclear program and open its facilities to wider international inspections.

The US and its European allies believe Iran has ambitions to develop an atomic bomb. Tehran has denied this claim.

In 2018, then-President Donald Trump kept an election promise and withdrew the United States from the JCPOA in what was dubbed the “worst deal ever”. After Washington pulled out of the landmark nuclear deal, other signatories to the pact have tried to keep the deal alive.

Washington’s tense relationship with Tehran deteriorated several times under the Trump administration.

Soleimani’s death led the regime to further reduce compliance with the international nuclear pact. In January 2020, Iran said it would no longer curtail its uranium enrichment capacity or its nuclear research.

In October, the United States unilaterally imposed UN sanctions on Tehran as part of a snapback process that other members of the UN Security Council had previously stated that Washington was not empowered to carry out because it withdrew from the nuclear deal in 2018.

A month later, a top Iranian scientist was murdered near Tehran, leading the Iranian government to claim that Israel, with US support, was behind the attack.

In the summer of 2019, a series of attacks in the Persian Gulf set the US and Iran on the way to a more intense confrontation.

In June 2019, US officials said an Iranian surface-to-air missile shot down an American military surveillance drone over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran said the plane was over its territory. That strike came a week after the US blamed Iran for attacks on two oil tankers in the Persian Gulf region and after four tankers were attacked in May.

In June, the US imposed new sanctions on Iranian military leaders who were held responsible for shooting down the drone. The measures were also aimed at blocking financial resources for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

Tensions rose again in September 2019 when the US blamed Iran for strikes in Saudi Arabia at the world’s largest crude oil processing plant and oil field. The strikes forced the kingdom to close half of its manufacturing operations.

The event sparked the largest surge in crude oil prices in decades and renewed concerns about a burgeoning conflict in the Middle East.

The Pentagon described the strikes in the Saudi Arabian oil factories as “refined” and represented a “dramatic escalation” of tensions in the region.

Iran claims all along that it is not behind the attacks.

I mentioned to a friend I was testing these; they had no idea that Yamaha made audio items like this. They thought the company was only keyboards. While yes, they have made/make great musical instruments, they’ve taken that commitment to quality to audio products. Specifically their new TW-E3A True Wireless Earbuds. These are currently $30 less and worth every penny.

First off, they paired perfectly and quickly with my phone. The sound is really clear, specifically when I was listening to my favorite podcasts. They are also very comfortable and stayed firmly in my ears as I trudged eleven blocks on errands in the snow. Unlike other less expensive earbuds, I absolutely see the difference in not having to fuss with finding the right position to get the most dynamic sound. The microphone was a little murky on the calls I made, but that could very well be on the cellular provider. I had these in for quite a few hours while writing, and again they’re extremely comfortable. I got a full steady five hours of playtime before I popped them back in their very pretty matte case. Yamaha boasts twenty-four hours of battery life off one charge, and I absolutely believe that given my experience. As with all earbuds, the “simple controls” take some time to get used to, but I can say these are a lot more responsive initially with a single tap. These are sweat and water-resistant, so don’t be afraid to take these to your next gym session.

Apple decided to forgo having a plug included in their new iPhone 12 line this year, for environmental reasons. However, in order to use their MagSafe charger effectively, one still needs to use a 20W charger, and any plugs you have had from Apple previously won’t fulfill that.

This is where the Anker Nano Charger comes in, where you can easily plug into your USB-C to Lightning Charger, or the MagSafe accessory, and reap the benefits of fast charging. It’s the smallest 20W charger and can be used with your fave Apple phones, or with Androids, up to you.

If you’ve been itching to up your audio game, or just need something to drown out the noise in your makeshift home office, consider Apple’s AirPods, which you can get for $120 on Amazon right now. That’s a $39 savings off the list price, and about $10 less than we’ve seen them lately at Amazon.

Want a case you can toss onto a wireless charging pad for an effortless power boost? The same AirPods with a wireless charging case are $150 right now, or $49 off the list price.

In either case, they’re incredibly portable, so you can carry them with you around the house, easy to pull out when you need to chat with someone, and they easily pair with all your Apple devices so you don’t have to keep futzing with Bluetooth settings all day.

I’ve had the pleasure of trying this out the last few days and can say it is, in fact, a great alternative to an Apple watch in many ways. If you don’t need many bells and whistles, the Aukey Smart Watch is a worthy entry into the category. It is currently 30% off and ready to make life a little easier.

The most significant feature I was impressed by is the battery. The company claims a twenty-day battery life. But even at that, I’m finding I only need to charge this once a week. Obviously, the less you have it sending alerts and doing extra work for you, the longer it’ll last. The display is vibrant, easy to read, and even looks a bit like that trendy watch all my friends have. It synched up with my phone seamlessly, and it was a breeze to get my texts sent too. This watch is compatible with Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, WeChat, etc., so you can receive a variety of chat messages. Using this on runs and even just for errands was excellent to track steps, distance, and calories burnt. And if you are a super active person, there are twelve total modes for monitoring running, cycling, mountain climbing, to name a few. As with most of these, you can also look after your sleep patterns and real-time heart rate. And don’t worry about sweat ruining your pristine watch; it’s waterproof. Now the only very tiny grip is that everything reads in the metric system, so there’s a bit of a learning curve. I’ve been pleasantly surprised so far at how much this watch can do. It’s not elite, but it certainly deserves consideration if you’re looking for a low-budget option.

It took Samsung a long time to shed its reputation for essentially copying Apple’s iPhones, but in recent years, the tech giant has become known more for boundary-pushing innovation. That said, when the original Galaxy Fold foldable smartphone—which opens up to reveal a large, tablet-sized screen within—was first launched, it was widely ridiculed. And when it was delayed after review units broke, well, that didn’t help.

Luckily, Samsung gave it another go, and last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G has seen much better reviews than the original. The outer screen is much larger and more useful now, the whole thing feels more durable, and there’s no weird super-sized notch on the inner screen. It’s a true powerhouse of a smartphone at a truly wallet-decimating price of $2,000. Gizmodo’s Sam Rutherford wrote in his review:

“For anyone who has dreamed about tech that allows phones to do more, the Z Fold 2 is a pioneer of the post-phone era. The Z Fold 2 offers an experience unlike anything else on the market, so while that price might not make any logical sense, somehow it’s still not completely outlandish.”

If you’ve been waiting for a deal to ease that eye-popping price, Amazon has one: it’s currently $200 off in either Mystic Bronze or Mystic Black. That’s still $1,800 for a smartphone, which puts it well outside the reasonable range for most buyers, but if you can’t fight the FOMO… hey, 10% off is something. You’ll also get $100 off a pair of Samsung’s new Galaxy Buds Pro in black if you buy ‘em at the same time as the phone.

Looking for a more compact foldable smartphone? Amazon is also taking $419 off the price of the non-5G model of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip, which folds from a typical smartphone size into a pocket-friendly, wallet-like chunk. That one’s $963 for the unlocked Mirror Black version.

If you have a semi-recent iPhone or a higher-end Android phone, then it’s probably equipped for wireless charging, letting you top it up simply by placing the device on a charging pad or stand. While typically not as fast as plugging in a cable, it’s significantly more convenient, especially if you set your phone on the pad when sitting down to work, for example.

Whether you just got a new phone or haven’t yet tried out wireless charging on your handset, you can grab an Anker PowerWave wireless charging pad for just over $9 at Amazon, no coupon or code required. It supports the Qi charging standard used by the last few generations of iPhones, as well as phones from many of the top Android makers. It also works with wirelessly-chargeable earbuds cases, such as the AirPods Pro.

There’s a new season on the horizon, which means that it’s a perfect excuse for retailers to roll out big spring sales. Today, we’ve got one from Eneba, which features some major savings on PC games. We’re looking at some real heavy hitters here. For example, you can get the complete edition of Horizon Zero Dawn for $27 with the code ITSSPRINGAGAIN. That same code also brings the deluxe edition of Hitman 3 on Xbox down to $48 (hey, who let a console game in here!?). My personal favorite is Crusader Kings III for $21 after applying the code. While March probably isn’t bringing cause for celebration this year, at least we can get some good games out of it.

Folks, we love a big gaming sale. I simply love to see a bunch of video games discounted. I will click through as many pages of deals as you can throw at me. Best Buy’s the latest retailer to drop a massive sale on software, and it’s a good one. It includes plenty of major first-party games and even the elusive Nintendo discount. Allow me to walk you through some highlights. Marvel’s Avengers is 50% off at $30, which is good because the game’s Hawkeye DLC and next-gen upgrades are right around the corner. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is down to $25, and you’ll eventually be able to upgrade that to next-gen too. For Switch owners, take your pick, but I recommend Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. The action game is down to $50. There’s plenty to gaze upon, so get to clicking.

Lets’a go! Super Mario 3D All-Stars is down to $50 at Best Buy today, a familiar price for anyone who grew up playing the games included in the collection. Back in 2002, I remember getting $50 from my mom so I could go to the mall and gleefully pick up a copy of Super Mario Sunshine. Then there was 2007’s Super Mario Galaxy, one of the first games I bought on my own when I went off to college. At the time $50 seemed like a real investment. Seeing that price tag on these classic games is kind of nostalgic, isn’t it? Okay, I’m reaching. It’s a little bizarre that the collection was $60 to begin with, but the price reduction here is a welcome one. Super Mario 3D All-Stars will literally vanish from shelves on March 31, so if you’ve been hoping for a discount, now might be the time to jump to it.

Do you ever look at your muscles and think “What if these were gigantic?” Do you dream of getting huge? Do you want to crush cans with your pecs? Well, okay, look, Ring Fit Adventure probably isn’t actually going to help with that, or at least not on its own. You’ll probably need a meticulous exercise routine, better diet, blah blah whatever, that sounds hard. But if you’re just looking for a steady and consistent way to stay healthy, Ring Fit is a surprisingly great option. Nintendo’s fitness RPG comes genuinely puts you through the ringer with a variety of exercises, from squats to planks. The game gets the most out of its unique ring-con accessory to make players feel the burn. From first hand experience, I can tell you its no joke. Death Stranding was already a timely game when it came out in 2019, but like a fine wine, it only gets more existentially troubling with age. Hideo Kojima’s box moving epic paints a picture of a divided United States in the wake of a cataclysmic event that’s wiped out the population. Does that sounds like a nice piece of escapism in these trying times? If it does, the PlayStation 4 version of Death Stranding is currently $20 at GameStop. The game has been retailing for around $40 recently, so it’s an especially low price for a key title that’s not included in the PlayStation 5’s PS Plus Collection.

If you’re not familiar with the original, Ori is a 2D platformer about a little creature frolicking through the woods (there’s a lot more lore than that, but I don’t have the time or space to get into it here). The sequel gives you a precious owl baby and proceeds to tear your heart out of your chest Mortal Kombat style in a quest to protect it. Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a gorgeous and slick platformer with satisfying mobility and a deeply affecting story, so don’t forget it as you finish going through your 2020 catch-up backlog.

Okay, so you’ve bought a new Xbox. Now what? For starters, you’re going to want to get that sucker online. Xbox Live Gold lets you play multiplayer games like Destiny 2 online, gives you access to big deals, and throws an occasional free game your way. It’s a necessity for anyone looking to play Series X|S games online, so it’s the kind of service you’ll likely need sooner or later. Fortunately, you can get a full year of Xbox Live Gold at Newegg right now for $50 by using the code EMCETEU53 at checkout.

If you’re into total chaos and want to give it a try when it comes to gaming, you should check out Borderlands 3 Super Deluxe Edition, a looting adventure with tons of twists and turns. The graphics are amazing, and you’ll spend hours attempting to get to the next part of the wasteland while collecting scrap on the way. Available on Xbox One for $20, it’s a great price to try out something new! Don’t forget you’ll also get a free next-gen upgrade, but you’ll have to have the Xbox Series X due to the disc drive. Just make sure to get a copy before they’re all gone!

Newegg is the place to be when it comes to PC gaming sales. The retailer tends to roll out carte blanche game sales from time to time, and this week’s is full of heavy hitters. There’s a lot to go through, so here are some specific highlights. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition is 50% off, bringing it down to $30. Devil May Cry V is only $18, with its Deluxe Edition at $24. My personal pick here is Ghostrunner, last year’s best Cyberpunk game, which is down to $17. That’s only a tiny taste of what you can expect here, so jump on in and get to clicking so you can see what else is there.

Let’s get something straight: I’m not a Call of Duty person. It’s not even because of the complicated political aspects of the series either. I am just bad at it. Every time I try a demo for a Call of Duty game, I just do absolutely terrible. I am useless to any team I’m on and even worse as a lone wolf. This is to say that other people who are not me are very good at Call of Duty. If you’re one of those people, you can grab Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on sale for $45 over at the Microsoft Store (Xbox only, of course). The game’s cross-gen bundle is discounted too at $56, so you can get both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S optimized version of the game in one bundle. I will not see you on the battlefield.

There’s a random little video game sale happening at Amazon today and we can’t complain about that! An odd assortment of console games is on sale, with price up to 17% off. The obvious highlight here is the PlayStation 5 version of Devil May Cry V for $34, but there are some other niche highlights here too. Shark RPG Maneater is $34 on Xbox, which is a fun little deal. You can also grab Divinity Original Sin II: Definitive Edition on Xbox for $20 if you want to get really deep into an RPG this Spring. There are plenty of less obvious games discounted here, which makes this sale stand out among your usual sales with your Assassin’s Creeds.

I’m sure this has happened a million times, you get a package and can’t find scissors or your keys to open it. This is probably happening more so now with people buying everything online. This tiny but mighty tool is here to save the day. The Nimble Set of cutting tools is just $12 over at SideDeal and sold out quickly the last time it went on sale at MorningSave earlier this year— so maybe don’t hold out if you’re interested!

The one-finger package opener fits snuggly on the index finger to open any box that comes your way. Slice through all packaging quickly and efficiently. This razor-sharp tool can tackle shrink-wrap and cellophane without a problem. This tool is a must and easier to operate than scissors or knives. I’m done with plastic Tupperware and the like. It’s glass all the way for me now.

I was sick of the way I couldn’t store things like spaghetti sauce without staining the containers, and I never was quite comfortable microwaving them either, which meant using MORE dishes to eat my leftovers for lunch. But no more!

You can make the switch now too for a great deal. Grab this nine-piece set of Bayco glass food storage containers for just $29 when you clip the $5 off coupon on Amazon.

I got a Quility weighted blanket at the start of the winter, and I can’t recommend it enough. Seriously, it’s like being wrapped up in a big hug, and I definitely find myself falling asleep quicker and more restfully than before I had one.

If you also want to basically curl up and hibernate for what’s left of winter, you should try one out to see what a difference it makes! Lucky for you, they’re on sale today over at Amazon. I’m not gonna try and act like the price assignments for this sale are consistent— some color options are on sale for certain weights/sizes, and not others.

So I’ve just picked out the best prices below. To start, the lowest price I could find was for a 12lbs blanket paired with a super soft navy/grey coverlet for $36.

For most people, you’re probably going to want one a little heavier than 12lbs. And this queen-size, 15 lbs blanket is probably the best bang for your buck at just $42.

Smart locks are mighty convenient. Not only will you rid yourselves of incessant key-fumbling, you’ll also be able to set up guest profiles and give everyone their own unique codes. So, this thing uses your fingerprint for entry alongside the traditional numerical code. Unlike many other smart locks, however, the Eufy Smart Lock Touch keeps all its information on local storage. In fact, there’s absolutely no Wi-Fi connectivity or remote control whatsoever. There is Bluetooth, however. That’s why it’s the perfect product for security paranoids. It’s also sleek, easy to install, and will withstand the daily elements with an IP65 rating.

Now, my favorite Jack Rabbit Signature Thrusting Rabbit rarely goes on sale but the code works with this. This vibe is possibly my gold standard now; I will judge all other toys against it. Honestly, most will be found lacking. The Thrusting Rabbit from Calexotics is just out of this world. It also arrives in this gorgeous white retro box. The silicone is plush and soothing. Each trust has perfect precision. There are three speeds, and it’s super easy to control with the buttons even in the most intense session. The little bunny ears have seven vibrations, and you can choose to use them or not. This vibe gives me some of the most robust experiences I’ve ever had with a toy. I’ve tested many of these for you all, so it’s not often I’m literally and figuratively shook. If you want to upgrade, this is the ultimate upgrade. I do recommend lube and going slow at first. I was not expecting this to be so powerful. Very pleasantly surprised though.

Speaking of lube, Wicked’s Aqua Waterbased Lubricant was included with a toy I reviewed last year. It’s not left my nightstand since. Wicked is, hands down, my number one. The best is it’s in a super discreet and all black bottle, so no reason to hide it. I guarantee this will be your go-to once you try it.

Nothing is more classic or comfortable than a crewneck sweatshirt, and I’ve had many of these over the years. I’m currently in one I swiped from a pal’s house while I was cat-sitting a few years ago. I’ve been starting my day with the Daydreamer Face Wash and was surprised at how light it is. It’s super viscous, which means you don’t need a lot, and it covers your face evenly. There is no discernable scent, which is great if you’re averse to strong smells. I was pleasantly surprised with how refreshing this was. Next, there is the Meltdown Acne Oil, perfect for soothing and helping clear problem breakouts. This is a great product to have on hand when you have an unexpected zit pop up. I definitely saw a difference in a few days after spot treating. And last, we have the Hug Me Natural Deodorant. My issue with natural deodorants is they usually don’t hold up over the course of a busy day, but I have to say this one was much better than I expected. Again no real scent, which was nice because sometimes deodorants can be overwhelming. I don’t know if I’d run a few miles with this, but I can say if you’re looking for something that glides on beautifully and will keep you protected on the day-to-day, this isn’t a bad option. If you’re looking for an affordable phone that is ready to take advantage of 5G speeds, there’s no smarter option right now than the Google Pixel 4a 5G. This unlocked Android 11 handset is smooth and responsive and works with all of the US carriers, has an excellent dual-camera setup on the back, a crisp 6.2” AMOLED screen, and a long-lasting battery.

It’s already a great deal at the list price of $499, but Amazon is currently slashing $50 off the list price. Gizmodo’s Sam Rutherford called the Pixel 4a 5G “hands down the best $500 phone” in his review last fall, and I can echo that sentiment from my own experience with the handset and other recent phones. It’s a super sensible 5G pick, especially at $449.

While its red case is probably the most eye-catching thing about this, it’s not the only feature worth looking at. It’s also an RGB backlit keyboard with 18 lighting presets, key customization options, anti-ghosting, and much more. If you’re in the market for a new mechanical keyboard and red happens to be your color, it’s a match made in gamer heaven.

In Judy and Jerry Sheindlin’s victorious love story

Both agreed that the past year had been tough without each other – “I missed him,” Judy admitted – and decided to give both their romance and marriage another shot.

“I like being married,” noted Judy of her decision to untie the knot. Before taking her first vows in 1977, she recalled in the book, “I actually had to drag him to the altar … He had no intention of divorcing his wife, even though they were separated for three or four years. After that We were together for about a year and I said, “I want to see your divorce in the paper or not call again.”

When he argued that they could just live together, Judy countered that it was his job to inform her father. “I said, ‘I’m not going to do this,'” Jerry recalled. “So she took out a calendar and said, ‘Pick a date. Now.'”

This time, however, he was the one making suggestions. “I picked her up from work at family court one day and we walked downtown Manhattan,” said Jerry. “Suddenly I said to her, ‘This is silly. I feel uncomfortable being with you all the time and not being married to you. Let’s get married again.’ She said, “Well, how do we do this?” I said, ‘The clerk’s office is just up the street. We can go in and get a license …’ “

When the ground starts to thaw outside and we get our kids back to normal outdoor play, it may be time to introduce them to nature’s greatest sensory activity – the mud kitchen.

Katie Lear, a licensed counselor and play therapist based in North Carolina, eloquent declares fatherly Why mud kitchens are so great for kids:

Part of it could be because of how a mud kitchen fully engages the senses, Lear says. “Mud play is a fascinating experience that helps children really focus on what is going on with their five senses: the mud can be a cool temperature; it has a distinct feeling; it smells earthy; it makes a big noise. Many mindfulness practices encourage attunement with the senses to stay in the present moment. When you think about the sensory play through this lens, it’s pretty nifty really. “

What you need

When creating your own mud kitchen, you can choose as a simple one (some dirt, water, and a bucket) or as a fancy one (like You can buy this actual “mud kitchen”) as you like. But something between these two options is likely spot on. Here are some ideas to get you started:

A flat surface

In order to prepare proper mud meals, children need a surface to sit or stand on to work. If you don’t want to forego that literal mud kitchen that I’m connected to (I don’t blame you) then you may be able to grab a used indoor play kitchen near you that is finding a second life as an outdoor mud kitchen. But really, any flat surface that you don’t mind getting messy on will do, including a sheet of smooth plywood that lies on the floor or on a picnic table.

Dirt and water

You obviously need the two main ingredients in the mud. So, choose the location of your mud kitchen based on how close it is to the area of your backyard that your kids love to dig. You also need easy access to water. So if you can put them in a spot where they can easily pull the hose over or have access to another source of water, that works best. If this is not possible, add a couple of buckets of water.

Utils

Children need tools to hold, stir, and serve their mud masterpieces. So pull out any old measuring cups, spoons, plates, and pots or pans that you can donate to the cause. You won’t be picky, so get creative; Even an old frisbee can serve as a plate or cake pan.

camp

I doubt you will want to lug all this dirty stuff with you every time you finish “cooking”. So look for an outdoor storage solution. If you have a real play kitchen, there are likely to be some shelves or cabinets built in. If not, the solution can be as simple as pulling out an old plastic storage container that doubles as a kitchen cabinet tucked away in a shed or on the back porch when not in use.

Also, if you’re concerned about the clutter, you can choose specific mud play clothes or keep some old towels ready to wipe off when the process is complete.

Here are the top news, trends, and analysis investors need to get their trading day started:

1. The Dow will rise after the steep sell-off on Thursday

The Dow futures initially fell lower and then rose higher on Friday after the government reported significantly better-than-expected job growth in February. Shares rebounded, although bond yields rose even further. Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell failed to reassure investors Thursday that the central bank would keep rising bond yields and inflation in check.

The Dow closed 345 points, or 1.1%, lower Thursday in a wild session that saw the average of the 30 stocks more than double what it was on any notch. The S&P 500 fell 1.3%. The Nasdaq was the big loser that day, falling more than 2% to close nearly 10% of its record high on February 12th. The index also turned negative over the course of the year. At the close of trading on Thursday, the Dow and S&P 500 held on to weak gains of 2021.

2. Employers created more than expected jobs in February

The Department of Labor reported Friday morning that the U.S. economy created 379,000 new jobs in February, well above projections of 210,000 non-farm pay hikes. The unemployment rate fell to 6.2% and was thus slightly below the estimate of 6.3%. Almost all of the last month’s job gains came from the ailing leisure and hospitality sector, which added 355,000 jobs as some states began easing restaurants in Covid.

3. The yield on 10-year government bonds hit a new 1-year high

The 10-year government bond yield rose higher on Friday, trading above 1.62% and hitting a new one-year high before pulling back a little. Yields have risen rapidly since late January, fueling inflation fears. Powell has done little to address these concerns, admitting that he sees some inflationary pressures ahead. However, he also said rising prices are unlikely to be enough to spur the Fed to hike rates. The market had been looking for Powell to more directly address the recent surge in bond yields, with a possible hint of an adjustment to the Fed’s asset purchase program.

The Chinese language overseas minister requires “non-interference” between China and the US

BEIJING – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Sunday the US must lift “unreasonable restrictions” in order for the two countries’ relations to move forward under President Joe Biden’s administration.

Wang’s remarks come from the fact that tensions between the US and China have escalated in recent years under former President Donald Trump, whose term of office ended in January. So far, the Biden government has maintained a tough stance on China – calling the country a more assertive “competitor” – and has raised concerns about Beijing’s stance on Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Tibet.

China’s central government regards these issues as part of its internal affairs.

“With regard to China-US relations, I believe that both sides must first uphold the principle of non-interference in each other’s internal affairs,” said Wang. This emerges from an official English translation of his Mandarin-language statements at a press conference that took place alongside the annual “Two Sessions” parliamentary session in Beijing, the country’s largest political event of the year.

Biden-Xi call

In a two-hour phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping in February before the New Year holidays, Biden had expressed “fundamental concerns” about Beijing’s actions on issues such as Hong Kong, according to the White House. At the same time, the two heads of state and government also discussed how to fight the coronavirus pandemic by working together on climate change and preventing the spread of weapons.

Wang said Sunday the two countries could also work together on the economic recovery from the pandemic, citing the call as a positive foundation for rebuilding bilateral ties.

“We stand ready to work with the United States to pursue the outcome of this important phone call and to put China-US relations on a new path of healthy and steady growth,” he said.
