How To Overcome Non secular Disgrace In Your Intercourse Life

0

If you were brought up to view sex and sexuality as sources of shame and embarrassment, you may find that such feelings tend to linger no matter how educated, open-minded, and open-minded you consider yourself to be today. If your background is religious, it’s probably worse.

Fortunately, in our Lord’s year 2021, many religious leaders and secular counselors know that harsh teachings on sexual expression and orientation do not do much to find the spiritually headstrong path and can even exclude believers. Whether you’re trying to balance your religious inclinations with your carnal desires, or trying to overcome the shame you internalized as a child and dragged to bed in your agnostic adulthood, we have brought in experts who can help.

Don’t be afraid to talk about sex

Talking about sexuality is illegal in many religious households and communities, but if you refuse to talk about something, it won’t go away. A 28-year-old adult entertainment artist in Philadelphia who visits Claire Voyant tells Lifehacker that her religious upbringing is still causing problems in her sex life, but she’s slowly working it through by speaking to friends and counselors.

Leo Morton, associate pastor and drag queen in North Carolina, suggests the same, adding, “Everyone needs two really good things in this world: one is a good hairdresser and the other is a good counselor.” Morton is openly gay, posed however, states that when he first spoke to a clergyman about his same-sex attraction in his youth, he was closed and told not to bring it up. Obviously, that approach didn’t make him any less gay – and if you don’t talk about sexuality, it won’t make you any less astute, but just unnecessarily ashamed of doing it. Failure to acknowledge your sexuality will only result in oppression, and so archaic ideas about sex lead to such ubiquitous shame. When you talk about sex, you can break the cycle before the cycle breaks you.

Fortunately, there are specialist counselors out there who can help – people like Kevin Salazar, a psychotherapist at the Gender & Sexuality Therapy Center in New York City, who tells Lifehacker that they often see lingering shame in their work.

“I find it common for clients who grew up in a conservative religious setting to feel ashamed of the way they experience (or do not experience) sexual and romantic attraction. People may feel ashamed to respond to their attraction, even in a supportive and friendly environment, ”they say.

Sexually positive friends can also help

Counseling is not the only option as friends are good listeners too. Claire, who is also a retired sex worker, explains that because her Catholic education taught her that sexual pleasure was a woman’s duty to care for a man, she struggled during partner encounters until her late 20s masturbating or focusing on her own enjoyment. She once decided not to wait for marriage – in itself, it is a big step for people with a similar upbringing. Talking to friends, she says, helps, although she admits she’s “jealous” of those who grew up in more liberal households and don’t really know where she is from.

“I feel totally like the weird person at times, like hiding in plain sight,” she says.

Salazar explains: “People who grew up in a conservative religious environment and now have a liberal, sexually positive community have also expressed feelings of being isolated and not understood by their peers who have not experienced the same type of shame and stigma . “

In some cases, a “hair of the dog” approach can work, especially if you are still spiritual. Talk to insiders who can relate to it. Not all religious leaders are like the one Morton encountered when he first questioned his sexuality, especially in this day and age. If you’re trying to balance the sexual part of yourself with the religious or spiritual part, you don’t have to choose one.

“The shame and stigma that the Church has instilled in relation to sexuality – regardless of orientation or gender – has long been around,” said Rev. Mandy McDow, senior minister of the First United Methodist Church in Los Angeles striving to ensure that their community welcomes members from the LGBTQ + community and sex workers. “It was a way in which the church exercised power and dominion over the vulnerable, which is a real sin.”

Find community online

There are also welcoming rooms outside traditional churches. The most obvious and extensive option is here on the internet.

“There are various religious and spiritual communities that will welcome and expand their understanding of gender, gender and sexuality,” says Jesse Kahn, LCSW-R, CST, director and sex therapist at the Gender & Sexuality Therapy Center. “And if you care about being part of a particular church that tends to have more repressive doctrines, there are often differences in the way the doctrines are discussed based on geography and in progressive online spaces.”

Kahn also recommends Erica Smiths “Program to End Purity Culture. “Hell, There’s even Reddit.

Learn how to talk to yourself about sex

Don’t be afraid to work on yourself and for yourself. As Claire can testify, sex is not just about your relationship with someone else. it’s about you as well. Salazar recommends logging and listening to related podcasts or reading books. Claire suggests reading columns like this, then taking the time to explore your own beliefs and desires in a comfortable space. Go at your own pace, she says, and practice gentle self-talk: “The more positive news you can incorporate into your life about sex, the better. If you can, get the most out of it until you get tired of hearing people talk positively about sex because you really have to completely rewire your brain. “

Repeating Salazar’s advice to replace the aforementioned stigmatizing language with affirmations in her client practice, Claire advises, “Think about the time in your life that was allotted for people to speak negatively about sex, and now you have to do that. twice as positive. ”

If you can believe that an omniscient God was angry with you for being sexual, why not try to believe that the same God would be proud of you for it? Morton sums up his thoughts accordingly: “God created us and we are beautiful and our body is part of the expansion of God himself.” Praise be.

The S&P 500 falls greater than 1% as tech shares are hit on a surge in bond yields

0

Tech stocks dragged the S&P 500 lower on Wednesday amid rising bond yields, while names tied to an economic recovery provided some support to the market.

The S&P 500 fell 1.3% to 3,819.72, led by technology and consumer staples. The Nasdaq Composite was down 2.7% to 12,997.75 as Apple, Amazon, Microsoft and Alphabet each fell more than 2%. Netflix lost 5%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the day near its session low, falling 121.43 points, or 0.4%, to 31,270.09.

The weakness came when the Treasury Department’s 10-year rate of return extended their advance. The key rate rose more than 8 basis points on Wednesday to a high of 1.49% before pulling back slightly. Last week the yield rose to a high of 1.6% in what some referred to as the “flash” spike.

The steady rise in bond yields raises concerns about equity valuations and a rebound in inflation. Higher bond yields can hit technology stocks especially hard as they rely on simple borrowing for superior growth.

“Interest rates are just not going to pause for this market,” said Jim Cramer on CNBC’s Squawk Alley.

President Joe Biden said late Tuesday that the U.S. will have sufficient supplies of coronavirus vaccines to vaccinate every adult in the nation by the end of May. That would be two months earlier than planned. The introduction of vaccines is seen as a key element in getting Americans back to work and the economy recovering.

Growing optimism about the vaccine launch sparked a rally in cyclical stocks and the reopening of the Games. American Airlines gained 3.4%, while Carnival and Norwegian Cruise Line gained 3.9% and 6.3%, respectively. The energy sector grew by 1.4%.

“While the S&P 500 may face structural headwinds due to technical weaknesses, the rest of the market is actually doing reasonably well,” Tom Essaye, founder of Sevens Report, said in a note. “Overall, most non-tech stocks are weathering the rise in bond yields quite well.”

On the data front, private companies created 117,000 new jobs in February, according to a report by payroll firm ADP on Wednesday. Economists polled by Dow Jones expected 225,000 private jobs to be added last month.

Meanwhile, the rate of growth on the service side of the US economy slowed in February. The ISM Nonmanufacturing Index showed a value of 55.3 last month, a decrease of 3.4 percentage points from January and below the Dow Jones estimate of 58.7.

Biden agreed to limit the number of people who will receive a new round of stimulus checks under the $ 1.9 trillion coronavirus aid package due to be passed in the coming days, said a Democratic source on Wednesday with.

Find out how to change your default music participant in iOS 14.5

It rarely happens that Apple iOS adds options that allow you to set the app you actually want to use to achieve something as the default instead of forcing you to use the official Apple app. And while I doubt you’ll ever be able to use anything other than the App Store to bring new software to your iPhone (without jailbreaking it), at least you will soon be able to choose which app to use to play music by default.

This much-discussed feature is expected to be part of iOS 14.5, but there was a slightly tricky patch in development: the option was shown in beta, left in a subsequent update, and is now back again. That’s normal, however – and now that it’s back I’m confident that it will appear in the final version of iOS 14.5 whenever that happens.

Illustration for the article titled How to Change Your Default Music Player in iOS 14.5

If you’d like to check this setting now, you’ll need to go through the usual process of installing the iOS 14.5 Developer Beta (Version 3, as of this writing). It is not difficult to doBut as always, I want to remind you that installing a beta operating system carries the risk of slowing down your phone, making some apps picky, or causing a bunch of other quirky issues that won’t be fixed until later on the beta (or with the final version).

There’s no setting you can tap to change your default music player. This is a strange omission. I hope Apple adds something to the shipped version of iOS 14.5. Instead, you have to ask Siri to play music by requesting a song from your favorite band. When you do this – and if you have multiple music apps installed on your device – you’ll be asked to choose one as the default.

G / O Media can receive a commission

not definedScreenshot: David Murphy

From now on you will only receive one shot. Whatever you choose will become the default for your future “Hey Siri” commands, and it will take a while a bit of a fuss to get a reload prompt if you change your mind. (Again, it would be a lot easier to have this in as an option somewhere Settings> Musicbut what do I know?)

However, if you want to keep playing music from various services or apps installed on your device, all you have to do is add the name of that service to your request and Siri will obey. For example, you could say “Play Nine Inch Nails” to hear about the default service you selected earlier. Or you can say “Play Nine Inch Nails on Spotify” to start the music in this app instead.

While this is a cumbersome way to set a default music player on iOS, it is (for now). We’ll update this article if or when the steps change in a subsequent beta.

Insurers are beginning a pilot program to vaccinate 2 million American seniors

More than a dozen health insurers are starting a pilot program to vaccinate 2 million American seniors as quickly as possible, President Joe Biden’s senior advisor for the Covid-19 pandemic announced on Wednesday.

The pilot program – called Vaccine Community Connecters – aims to educate seniors about the vaccines, schedule admissions and arrange transportation, advisor Andy Slavitt told reporters during a press conference at the White House.

Insurers will also talk about “effectiveness, safety and the value of vaccinating vaccines,” said Slavitt, who served in the Obama administration, adding that insurers may deploy mobile vans in neediest communities. The White House is working with America’s Health Insurance Plans and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association on the initiative.

“Vaccines save lives, and health insurers have worked hard to break the barriers between Americans and COVID-19 vaccines,” said Matt Eyles, CEO of America’s Health Insurance Plans, in a press release. The trading group represents Aetna, Cigna and CVS Health.

“We will continue to work on this commitment with every level of government and every organization that shares our goal until we jointly defeat the COVID-19 crisis,” added Eyles.

The announcement comes as the Biden government works to increase supplies of Covid-19 vaccines and reach the majority of Americans as soon as possible. Around 51.8 million out of around 331 million Americans have received at least their first dose of Covid vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And 26.2 million of those people have already had their second shot, which is roughly 10% of the total US adult population, according to the CDC.

The risk of developing serious illness with Covid-19 increases with age, with older adults being the highest risk, according to the CDC.

Insurers will work with federal, state and local leaders to deliver vaccines to underserved communities and work closely with other vaccination partners, including pharmacies.

The trade group said some communities are best served by mobile clinics, voice assistance, or a combination of interventions. Others will benefit from health insurers that work directly with ridesharing to provide transportation, the group said.

This isn’t the first Covid-19 vaccination program tailored for seniors and touted by the federal government. In October, the Department of Health and Human Services announced a contract with CVS Health and Walgreens to deliver coronavirus vaccines to the elderly and workers in long-term care facilities.

2021 Price range: GST Walks and Expansions Singaporeans Ought to Put together for, Cash Information

0

But all of that hand-holding will end in 2021. After a year of cushioning from government flyers, it’s time to move on to higher GST rates and the introduction of GST on everything from non-digital services to imported goods and services to steel.

Here are the changes that can be expected in the next few years:

1. GST for digital services (available since 2020)

In case you missed it, the GST for all digital services, ie the “Netflix tax”, has been in place since early 2020.

GST is now payable for all services purchased online from overseas service providers, including online subscriptions, which many of us cannot live without. Here are some well-known examples:

Taxable digital services Examples
Music streaming Spotify, Apple Music
Video streaming Netflix
Game subscriptions Playstation plus
Software programs Microsoft Office
Downloadable content E-books
Data management services Web hosting, cloud storage, etc.

You may or may not have seen a 7 percent increase in your monthly subscription fee. If you haven’t, the company may have taken the tax right now – but we expect most to pass these costs on to us.

2. GST for all imported goods (from 2023)

Have you bought products online for less than the local stores sell? Then get ready to wince as the GST will be calculated for all imported goods starting January 1, 2023.

Previously, GST was levied on imported items that cost more than $ 400, as some of you may have accidentally discovered when ordering items from overseas.

From 2023, however, GST will be extended to all items delivered by air and mail regardless of cost. (Goods shipped by land and sea are already taxed.)

[[nid:465790]]]

So you need to prepare to pay 7 percent or 9 percent more for online purchases (depending on whether the GST rate has been increased … more on that later).

If there are certain basic needs that you are used to shopping online, you should do the calculations ahead of time so that you can find a cheaper alternative before 2023 if needed.

Larger overseas providers like Taobao or already registered Singapore providers like Shopee, Qoo10 and Lazada will likely end up collecting GST.

With smaller providers, the picture is still a bit blurry. It is likely that the GST amounts will not be taken into account at check out and you will have to pay the GST when your item is delivered.

3. GST for imported non-digital services (from 2023)

To cover all bases and ensure that Singaporeans pay for GST for everything purchased online, the government will begin collecting GST for “non-digital” services from 2023 onwards.

Non-digital services refer to things like teaching and counseling and are different from digital services like streaming and downloads.

Any type of online course, for example through schools or service providers like Udemy or Coursera, could now attract GST. The same applies to your online therapist, online language teacher, online fitness courses or telemedicine. As long as the service provider is not based in Singapore, GST is payable.

Due to the pandemic, more and more people have turned to online learning as a cheaper alternative to in-person tuition. It might be time to reevaluate costs before 2023 and make comparisons with live classes and services.

4. GST increase from 7 to 9 percent (anytime from 2022 to 2025)

The government has been discussing this for a number of years and announced in 2018 that 2021 would be the year when the GST was increased from 7 to 9 percent.

Since then, it has been announced that the dreaded GST hike will happen sometime between 2022 and 2025. And the government has warned that this will happen sooner rather than later.

So 2021 should be the year we re-evaluate our budgets to make sure we have room to increase.

Are these GST walks fair?

The announcements about the 2021 GST budget are obviously not going to please many Singaporeans. The government has tried to mitigate the blow by twisting some of the GST updates to improve the playing field for local retailers.

However, this protectionist conversation distracts us from another topic – how GST increases could disproportionately affect the poor in Singapore.

[[nid:506496]]]

To be fair, all governments must increase tax revenues in one way or another. And some might say that the rich are spending more, so they are paying more GST.

In practice, however, lower income groups tend to spend more of their money on goods and services. Someone who lives hand to mouth and spends 99 percent of their salary on the essentials pays 7 to 9 percent GST for all of that.

The rich, on the other hand, are likely to save or invest more of their income instead of spending it on goods and services that attract GST.

Those in the lower income brackets or those who suffer from a lack of money (e.g., the squashed middle class who may not save or invest much) are the ones who need to tighten their belts the most.

Is the GST voucher scheme sufficient?

The government’s permanent GST voucher program is an attempt to fix the above error. Every year, lower-income Singaporeans receive a few hundred dollars in cash to offset the rise in the cost of goods and services.

For 2021, GST coupons for 2021 will range from $ 350 to $ 500 and will be distributed based on the annual value of your home.

But are the GST coupons enough to fix the imbalance?

With a GST rate of 7 percent, $ 500 is enough to offset the GST to $ 7,143 in expenses, while $ 350 offsets about $ 5,000 in value. Remember, it’s spending for a whole year. So you have to pay out of pocket in your annual expenses any additional GST that is above this threshold.

And that doesn’t even take into account price increases for reasons other than GST (like rent, labor, or cost of deliveries).

With the cost of living soaring – with or without GST increases – it’s likely that many struggling financially will have to steel themselves for even tougher times from 2023 onwards.

When you ought to say “thanks” as an alternative of “sorry”

0

Illustration for article titled When Should You Photo: Tomertu (Shutterstock)

To apologize correctly and effectively is an imprecise art. Any apology that is truly sufficient shows both why you are sorry and that you understand how your potential transgression might have affected other people.

But occasionally I’m sorry not to cut it. The harmed party might think that your mea culpa was there just to appease them or smooth things over down a rocky patch for simplicity. If for some reason you feel that your excuses are not watering enough, you can take a different, slightly unorthodox approach: say thank you instead.

An apology is essentially an admission of guilt that at least suggests a willingness to grow and learn from a mistake. Saying thank you has a similar, if more direct, effect rather than a traditional apology, as it shows that you’ve already learned – or at least are trying to – learn from your mistake.

Illustration for article titled When Should You

“Thank you” makes it a learning experience

There are books about the rigors of Make an effective excuse, but saying thanks is a much more direct gesture. Expressing thanks flatters those affected rather than highlighting your misdeeds.

G / O Media can receive a commission

For example, if you tend to have casual conversations about someone who brings this to you in frustration, you should thank them for bringing this issue to your attention. Instead of just one word apologizing, let them know that you appreciate realizing how frustrating your behavior has been for them.

If you say thank you or appreciate a highlighted topic, this indicates rather enthusiastically that you are willing to accept the criticism. It leaves little doubt as to whether you will litigate the argument again in your head once it is theoretically resolved because you have shown that you are anything but bitter.

It helps build the other person’s confidence in you

When you’re genuinely sorry for something, you at least want the other party to have confidence in your ability to fix the problem. Replacing an apology with some grace will help you in this regard. In a 2019 Study published in the Journal of MarketingResearchers found that retail dynamics worked pretty well. In the study, consumers felt better when retail workers thanked them for pointing out mistakes rather than apologizing.

If you decide to make a mistake by thanking someone else, you may feel stronger than being meek. It suggests, “Hey, I see this and I’ll work on it because it’s totally within my reach.”

It turns the focus away from you

Not that you should divert any guilt for dishonest purposes. After all, it is assumed that you did something wrong. But when you say thank you, you have to be gracious to the other party because you are doing just that despite being criticized.

After all, reaching a solution requires cooperation between two parties. If you say thank you directly, the ball is put back on the other person’s field of play. This shows that you understand why she is upset and that you will work to do better in the future.
