The abandonment culture is such an important issue in my life, and this week’s abandonment culture victims include DaBaby, Reddit’s worst anti-feminists, and drunk plane passengers who play golf.
This Week in the Culture War: DaBaby dropped from summer festivals
DaBaby was MIA at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago this week and was struck off his headlining spot in response to homophobic comments at a recent concert in Miami.
Apparently they were telling a crowd, “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or one of those deadly sexually transmitted diseases that will make you die in two or three weeks, put your cell phone light in the air,” and “Folks, if If you don’t suck a dick in the parking lot, stick your cell phone light in the air “is enough to cancel Lollapalooza, as well as the upcoming Governors Ball, Parklife, Day N Vegas, Austin City Limits and iHeartRadio Music festivals. Who knew Not DaBaby.
DaBaby still has a chance. According to Billboard, DaBaby’s management has promised that the rapper will make an apology video before his set, his DaBaby thing.

Follow-up: Do not freeze and eat honey
Remember the innocent days of a week ago? When we were walking around carefree eating frozen honey? Well the golden age is over. So-called “medics” have spoiled the fun by pointing out that stuffing your face with honey might be a bad idea, especially for the third of us who are dietary fructose intolerant.
“Use [honey] It’s crazy to get a lot of followers and a lot of attention and have it in abundance, “said Kristin Kirkpatrick, a registered nutritionist at the Cleveland Clinic ABC. “I don’t see much risk in the short term for someone with this fructose malabsorption other than what they will experience, which is terrible diarrhea, stomach pain and the like.”
Hey registered nutritionist Kristin Kirkpatrick: You are not my boss. I will continue to eat honey per liter and condemn the consequences. (I’ll spare you the details of my frequent, violent toilet visits.)
In Music This Week: Billie Eilish Releases New Video
Nineteen year old superstar Billie Eilish released an instant classic this week. “Happier than ever” builds from a minimalist 1920s-style opening to a raw, screaming anthem of defiance and heartbreak. As many commenters have pointed out, it’s kind of a goosebumps-bait song that starts slowly and then claps. (That’s what kids say about music these days – that it “claps”.) Don’t trust me in the slack; listen to it for yourself. It could be an even better song than The Captain and Tenneile’s 1976 hit “Muskrat Love”.
This Week in Culture War 2: Reddit Bans MGTOW
The all-encompassing Reddit website has banned its “Men Going Their Own Way” subreddit. r / MGTOW hosted over 100,000 posters dedicated to the idea that men should distance themselves from women because feminism is bad. In other words, it was full of people you slowly withdraw from at cocktail parties.
“Reddit’s site-wide guidelines explicitly prohibit content that incites violence or hates based on identity or vulnerability,” said a Reddit spokesman. “The subreddit in question has been banned in accordance with these guidelines.”
It took only 10 years for Reddit to complain about the misogynist message board to take action and finally free its members to go their own way straight to another internet shithole.
Streaming this week: first look at Amazon’s Lord of the Rings franchise
If you’re dying to see a dramatization of Túrin Turambar’s exile to Doriath, all you have to do is wait until September 2022 for Amazon’s upcoming Lord of the Rings series. The series yet to be titled is based on Tolkien’s posthumously published Silmarillion (as opposed to his books that people actually read) and is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
“As Bilbo says, ‘I’m pretty much ready for another trip now,'” said executive producers JD Payne and Patrick McKay in a statement that eerily mimics the way people actually speak on earth. “Living and breathing in Middle-earth has been the adventure of a lifetime during these many months,” added the couple, presumably in perfect harmony. If you want to see the first image in the series, all you have to do is do it click here.
Viral video of the week: Drunk bully taped the chair of an airliner
Passenger Maxwell Wilkinson Berry made the internet famous for the worst of reasons this week. Berry, 22, took a flight from Philadelphia to Miami and got drunk, groped two flight attendants, hit a guy and yelled, “My parents have two million dollars.” Then it is Video went viral.
Berry, shockingly a golfing fraternity guy, was so out of control that the flight crew had to hold him there while the other passengers applauded. Frontier Airline staff then covered his mouth to keep the world from hearing how much money his grandfather had in mutual funds. Fortunately, a Passenger recorded the whole thingso you can enjoy it too.
After his release from prison, Berry replied with the The biggest tweets in Internet history: “This will forever be the most dehumanizing experience of my entire life. Lots of people laughed and made fun of me when I was mistreated by employees of a PROFESSIONAL airline. Just to value the cause, this has gone “viral” on the internet and will never go away. And, “Can someone say what the hell is funny about being taped to an airplane seat?” How much time do you have max
