Every time you have visitors at your home, they likely ask for the WiFi password before anything else. You can go down the path of the local coffee shop and hang the wifi name and password on the wall or manually pass out those credentials until you’ve memorized them. Or, you can speed up this process significantly by sharing your credentials directly from any device or platform. We’ll show you how.
How to Share WiFi Passwords on iPhone and iPad
When you share passwords with people who have other Apple devices, there isn’t much to do. Just make sure your iPhone or iPad is updated to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS. Also, make sure you’re signed in to iCloud on your device. (You can do that by going to settings; When you see your name at the top, you’re ready.) The final prep step requires that you make sure the other person’s Apple ID is in your address book.
After that, unlock your iPhone or iPad, which should already be connected to your local network. Ask your friend to choose the correct WiFi network name on their Apple device. You will now see a pop-up on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want to share your WiFi password with your friend. Tap Share password and you’re done.
This works fine as long as you’re connected to the WiFi network you want to share and your friend’s devices are close to your iPhone or iPad.
If you’re trying to share your WiFi password with people who don’t have Apple devices, you’ll have to resort to more manual means.

How to Share WiFi Passwords on Mac
Sharing WiFi passwords from your Mac is extremely easy as long as you share it with other Apple devices. The prep steps are the same as for iPhone and iPad – log into iCloud, make sure the person you’re sharing the information with has updated to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS, and then add the Apple Add your friends’ IDs to the contacts app.
Once those things are done, just connect to the WiFi network and ask your friends to try the same thing. Your Mac will display a pop-up asking if you want to share the WiFi password. click share. Your friend’s device will automatically connect to the WiFi network.
One caveat: this feature only works if you have macOS High Sierra (10.13) or a later version installed on your Mac. You can check this by clicking the Apple logo in the upper left corner of your Mac’s desktop and. to choose About this Mac.
For non-Apple devices, you will need to manually share the saved password if you are using a Mac. To find saved WiFi passwords on Mac, you can Keychain Access app (which is preinstalled on your Mac). Choose iCloud Tab in the left pane and then click Passwords right, directly under Keychain Access. You can use the search box in the top right corner to look for the name of your WiFi network.
When you have found the WiFi network, right click on it and choose Copy the password to the clipboard. You can then quickly send it to your friends.
How to share WiFi passwords from Android
As long as you have an Android phone running Android 10 or higher, you can generate a QR code to quickly share your WiFi network password. Just go to Settings> Network & Internet> WLAN and tap on Gear icon next to the name of the Wi-Fi network you are connected to. Blow sharewhich also has a QR code icon, enter your passcode and you will see a QR code on the screen.
Ask your friends to scan this code on their phones to connect to your WiFi network. Most Android phones have the Google Lens app that can scan QR codes and quickly open them. If you have an iPhone, you can open the camera app and scan the QR code to connect.
How to share Windows WiFi passwords
Unfortunately, Windows 10 doesn’t have a built-in way to quickly share WiFi passwords. The best thing to do is to use another device to quickly share your WiFi password. To find saved WiFi passwords in Windows 10, go to Settings> Network & Internet> Network and Sharing Center. click Connections: NETWORK NAME and choose Wireless properties.
In the last step, click on that security Tab and check the show signs Box under Network security key. You can see your WiFi password on your computer so you can manually share it with those who want to use your internet connection.
