Look, we’re not here to judge or ask questions. You need to clear your current browsing history – and do it quickly. Fortunately, we can help you. Whether you are using Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Brave, there is a keyboard shortcut that will allow you to clear your latest web history ASAP, in case you need to for reasons that are not our business.

Clear the last hour of history from major web browsers

Most web browsers allow you to delete the last hour of web browsing. This is usually the best option for those who want to erase what they were looking for but not older data. If you are looking for something with an even narrower time frame, we have a solution for you later.

The following keyboard shortcuts work for Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Opera:

  • window: Ctrl + Shift + Del
  • Mac: Command + Shift + Delete
  • Chromebook: Ctrl + Shift + Backspace

Once you use this shortcut with your web browser, you will be directed to your web log manager. Depending on your browser, clearing the last hour of internet history may be the default, but if it isn’t, just find the time range option, click on it and select the option that will clear the last hour of browsing.

Clearing the last hour of Safari’s history

If you’re using Safari on your Mac, you might be wondering why we didn’t mention your browser in this article. For some reason, Apple is one of the few major browsers that doesn’t have a keyboard shortcut to clear your web history.

Fortunately, macOS makes it easy to set up a keyboard shortcut for almost any app. Simply open System settings > keyboard, press the Connections, then App shortcuts, and then click (+).

The system settings open the shortcut tool. Click “All applications“, Then select”safari.” Type “Delete history…“(Including the ellipses) in the Menu Title text box, and then type the keyboard shortcut you want. For some reason, macOS refuses the default Command + Shift + Delete shortcut, so I went for Command + Shift + Return.

Clear the last 15 minutes of history from Google

While we’re focusing on desktop web browsers here, we don’t want to get into the brand new “Clear Last 15 Minutes” feature from Google. As the name suggests, if you use the Google app on your phone, you can instantly delete the last 15 minutes of browsing activity. Since most browsers only allow you to clear history up to the last hour, this feature is important.

To do this, tap on your profile icon in the upper right corner of the main page of the Google app. If you have a recent browsing history, a “Delete the last 15 minutes“Appears in this window. Tap it once and Google will start clearing your history. However, you have a short window of time to withdraw from this decision by clicking the “ABORT”Option that appears at the bottom of the screen.
