And if you never come back, the best thing to do is to cancel your account entirely and make sure your personal information is deleted too. This way your data will not be leaked if Clubhouse accidentally reveals it or if hackers break into their servers.

Unfortunately, it seems almost as difficult to force Clubhouse to delete your data and cancel your account as it does to get into beta. Other social media services like Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok allow users to do so Delete account details from the settings of your mobile app or on your websites. Clubhouse not.

The only way to delete your Clubhouse data is to delete your account completely (at least while the app is in beta). However, you cannot delete your account from the app either. Instead, you will need to contact Clubhouse Support via email to delete your account and all related data.

“OK,” some might say, “sounds simple enough.” And sure, sending an email is the easy part. However, the rest of the process is not that simple and takes a lot longer than expected.

How to cancel your Clubhouse account

Before submitting your delete request, make sure your clubhouse email address has been verified. Clubhouse will only delete an account if the request is sent from a verified email associated with the account:

  1. In the clubhouse app, tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap the “@” Icon at the top right.
  3. If your email hasn’t been verified (or if you need to update it), tap your email address, make sure it’s correct, then select “Check.”
  4. Check your email inbox and open the Clubhouse confirmation email.
  5. Follow the instructions.

After checking your clubhouse email, send your request for deletion using the Registration form for clubhouse support.

The next step is to wait. How other publications (and angry users) indicate that the clubhouse will take a while to complete. As soon as Clubhouse confirms the deletion request, the account is marked as “deactivated”, whereby the profile is hidden from other users and you can no longer log in. However, this does not mean that your account or personal information has been deleted.

Your account will eventually zero out, but Clubhouse does not state how long it will take, nor does it appear to be a reliable way of confirming the current status of a deleted, but not actually deleted, account. As soon as the deactivation period has expired, your Clubhouse account will be permanently canceled and your data should (in theory) be removed from the Clubhouse servers.
