Microsoft is finally fixing the pesky controller disconnect bug that plagued the Xbox Series X / S since launch, and the patch is included in the March 2021 firmware update released this week. Microsoft does not directly mention the fixes his announcement postJason Ronald, Director of Program Management at Xbox, confirmed via Twitter that the patch “also fixes many of the controller disconnections reported by gamers”.
If you are one of the many players grappling with this issue, make sure to install the March 2021 firmware update immediately. To update your Xbox Series X / S manually:
- Press the Xbox button on your controller to bring up the guide menu.
- Go to Profile & System> Settings> System> Updates.
- Choose “Console update available” to download the new version. If it is called “No console update available” Then your Xbox already has the latest firmware available.
If you want your Xbox to automatically download future updates as soon as they’re done, turn them on “Keep my console up to date” and the Updates menu. That way, you will get all new features and important bug fixes asap.
