Alma Wahlberg, Mother of Mark Wahlberg and Donnie Wahlberg, died. She was 78 years old.
Both actors announced on their Instagram pages on Sunday April 18 the death of the family matriarch, who appeared with several of her children on the A&E reality show Wahlburgers. Alma died after a long battle with dementia.
“My angel,” wrote Mark, 49 years old and her youngest child, next to a throwback photo of a smiling Alma. “Rest in peace.”
51-year-old Donnie shared a heartwarming, professionally edited tribute video with his mom that she showed at various events and moments with her family.
“I am so blessed to have been brought into this world, raised, taught, and put on the path of my life by such an amazing woman,” he wrote. “My mother Alma’s joy in life, love and people – combined with a pride in her humble beginnings and a refusal to forget where she came from – has undoubtedly shaped me into the man I am.”
He continued, “I’ve said many times that if you liked something about me, I got it from Alma. I say this because it’s true. She was without a doubt the most loving person I have ever known. I have. I have.” She never heard her say or do anything disrespectful to anyone. It was, as anyone who has ever come across her knows, true blue. “
