See Prince William Allure, a senior resident, in a heartbreaking video

On Saturday May 22nd, the Duke of Cambridge opened how Scotland reminds him of his late mother. Princess Diana.

“Scotland is the source of some of my happiest memories, but also my saddest,” he said at the opening ceremony of the Church of Scotland General Assembly. “I was at Balmoral when I was told my mother had died. Still in shock, I found refuge in the Crathie Kirk service [church] That same morning, and in the dark days of mourning that followed, I found comfort and consolation in the Scottish nature. “

The Duke also stated that Scotland also has fond memories as it is the place where he met Kate Middleton.

As a result, the connection I feel with Scotland will go deep forever. And yet next to this painful memory is a great joy. Because I met Catherine for the first time here in Scotland 20 years ago. Needless to say, the city , where you meet your future wife, has a very special place in your heart. “

The couple, who celebrated their 10th anniversary last month, are proud parents of three children. Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 6 and Prince Louis, 3.

Covid cases in the US have fallen to their lowest level since June as the nation prepares for Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of the summer travel season.

The seven-day average of new infections is around 26,000 on Sunday, according to Johns Hopkins University. That’s the lowest number since June last year.

The decline in falls is a hopeful sign, especially as many Americans plan to travel, spend days on the beach, and hang out with friends and family over the summer. It is the latest in a series of milestones that signal a reopening of the economy and a gradual return to a more typical way of life.

Cases of Covid have decreased as more people are vaccinated across the country. Approximately 49% of the US population have had at least one vaccine, and 39% of the population will be fully vaccinated as of Saturday, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. According to the CDC, 61% of those over 18 are at least partially vaccinated.

Retailers including Target, Walmart and Macy’s said this week that consumer purchases are suggesting people are becoming more mobile and social again. They said a growing number of customers have returned to the stores to browse or buy goods they had previously skipped, from new outfits to teeth whitening products.

The CDC’s new public health recommendations earlier this month also led to changes for Americans who have been wearing masks for months. The federal agency said people who are fully vaccinated will not need to cover their face in most indoor and outdoor areas. This caused many retailers and some states, including New York, to drop mask requirements for those vaccinated and adapt to the new policy.

How Singapore Freelancers Can Save For Retirement, Cash Information

How Singapore Freelancers Can Save For Retirement, Cash Information

Saving for retirement can often be a fear-inducing issue. With 14 percent of the Singapore workforce registered as self-employed in 2020 (World Bank), the question of how to save for retirement as a freelancer might not be more relevant than it is now.

While the most obvious answer to the above question is to put money aside, there are many ways you can do it. You can simply choose to set aside a percentage of your monthly income, invest it, or put it in a savings account.

However, each option largely depends on your income, retirement age, and current financial situation.

Set up a retirement plan

To set up a retirement plan, you need to answer the following questions:

  • How old are you now?
  • When are you planning to retire?
  • What’s your monthly income?
  • What are your monthly expenses?
  • How much does your income vary from month to month?

After answering these questions, you will get an idea of how much you need to save. The current retirement age in Singapore is 62 and will increase to 63 in 2022.

While this may not affect your retirement age as a freelancer, we use the official retirement age for retirement planning.

Current age Years to retirement Total Retired Spending Monthly storage required
25 years 37 years 451,836 USD $ 1,017
30 years 32 years 451,836 USD $ 1,176
35 years old 27 years 451,836 USD $ 1,394
40 years old 22 years 451,836 USD $ 1,711

The table above assumes the individual monthly cost at retirement to be $ 1,793 (Singstat). Total retirement expenses are also based on a life expectancy of 83 years. Another factor that we need to consider is healthcare spending.

All Singapore self-employed nationals and permanent residents must make mandatory contributions to their Medisave account if they earn more than $ 6,000.

Annual net income Under 35 years 35-45 45-50 50+
$ 6,000 to $ 12,000 Four percent 4.5 percent Five percent 5.25 percent
$ 12,000 to $ 18,000 Four to eight percent 4.5 percent – nine percent Five percent – 10 percent 5.25 percent – 10.5 percent
Over $ 18,000 Four percent Nine percent 10 percent 10.5 percent
Maximum $ 5,760 $ 6,480 $ 7,200 $ 7,560

In addition to making mandatory contributions to your Medisave account, you can also make voluntary contributions. The great advantage of voluntary contributions is that you can apply for tax breaks for these contributions in order to reduce your overall tax expense.

Set a goal and save

The easiest way to start saving for retirement is to calculate your monthly income and expenses and set a realistic amount that you can reserve monthly for retirement. This should usually be a percentage of your monthly income and not a fixed amount.

[[nid:502743]]]

Calculate when you would like to retire and how much you would spend on average each month after you retire.

The average monthly household cost in Singapore is $ 3,586 (Singstat), assuming the household size is two people. This implies an individual monthly spending of $ 1,793.

It’s also important to keep in mind that there will be multiple expenses that you won’t have to worry about in retirement, such as: For example, your tax expenses, your Medisave account contributions, health insurance, child school fees, work-related expenses, and possibly even life insurance premiums.

This method of saving for retirement has many disadvantages: you don’t earn interest on your savings to offset inflation, and you don’t get tax breaks on your savings.

CPF contribution

The Central Provident Fund is a social security savings plan that provides Singaporeans with a safe retirement plan. While contributions to your Medisave account are mandatory, you can also make voluntary contributions to your CPF Ordinary Account (OA), Special Account (SA) and Medisave Account (MA).

Ordinary account contributions can be used for housing, insurance, investment, and educational needs. The special account can be used for retirement income and pension-related investments.

As mentioned earlier, the Medisave account is intended to be used for hospital expenses, approved outpatient medical care, and approved health insurance.

[[nid:522396]]]

While CPF contributions are usually made by both the employer and the employee, as a freelancer you only need to contribute to your Medisave account.

There are many benefits to making voluntary contributions to your special CPF account to save for your retirement. First, the interest you get is higher than the rate of inflation.

The current interest rate on SA contributions is four percent per year and is reviewed quarterly.

Second, your contributions can be used to invest in the future. Finally, your investment is safe compared to other investments linked to indices that fluctuate with the markets.

Medisave and Special Account interest rates are calculated based on the 12 month 10 year average return on Singapore government securities plus one percent. In addition, this investment is guaranteed by the Singapore government which makes it safer than investing in the stock market.

Fixed deposit & savings account

How Singapore Freelancers Can Save For Retirement, Cash Information

Two great ways to save for retirement are with a fixed deposit or a savings account. A fixed deposit is a type of investment that gives you a higher interest rate than a regular savings account.

At the time of opening an account, you agree to deposit money with a financial institution for a specified period and interest rate.

Unlike a savings account, you cannot withdraw a fixed deposit before the due date. In return, however, you will receive a higher interest rate on a fixed deposit than on your savings account.

If you’re looking for more flexibility with your investment, a savings account might be the right choice for you.

[[nid:500001]]]

Both fixed-term deposits and savings accounts are low-risk investments with guaranteed returns.

A key feature of both investments that you need to consider is the interest rate offered on your deposit.

To make sure you don’t lose any money, the interest rate on your deposit shouldn’t be lower than the current rate of inflation.

Therefore, in order to make money, the interest rate has to be higher than the inflation rate.

According to Statista, the current inflation rate in Singapore is 0.34 percent. This explains why so many commercial banks offer interest rates for savings and fixed-term deposits below one percent pa, with most offering around 0.5 percent. Banks usually pay higher interest rates on deposits with longer terms.

For example, periods of 24 and 36 months result in higher interest rates on average, regardless of the amount deposited. Maybank currently offers one of the best interest rates for fixed-term deposits, namely 0.6 percent with a term of 36 months with a minimum deposit of USD 5,000.

Final verdict

While there are many ways to save for your freelance retirement, the best way is to combine the options above. Ideally, you should invest part of your income in a fixed-term deposit account.

Since the longer the tenure, the higher the interest, this investment can be tied for several years. Hence, you also need to set aside some money that you can access in an emergency. This would be a savings account.

This would also be a liquid asset as unlike a fixed deposit it is easy to access.

The bitcoin sell-off continued after a week of roller coaster trading on Sunday as authorities in China and the US tightened regulations and tax compliance on cryptocurrencies.

According to data from Coin Metrics, Bitcoin fell around 16% to $ 31,772.43 by 12:27 p.m. ET.

The world’s largest cryptocurrency traded at $ 35,891.20 on Friday afternoon.

The recent Bitcoin sell-off is a major reversal of the cryptocurrency that appears to have gained prominence among major Wall Street banks and publicly traded companies. However, this month Bitcoin was hit by a number of negative headlines from major influencers and regulators.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who helped fuel positive sentiment when his company bought $ 1.5 billion worth of Bitcoin, took a beating earlier this month when he announced the automaker had announced the Buying vehicles using the cryptocurrency had been suspended for environmental reasons.

Musk then sent mixed messages about his position on Bitcoin, implying in a tweet that Tesla may have sold its holdings, only to clarify later that it did not.

“The asset class remains very volatile, with the potential for significant price movements resulting from a single tweet or public comment,” said CIBC analyst Stephanie Price in a statement on Thursday.

A JPMorgan report showed that large institutional investors ditched Bitcoin in favor of gold. The news raises questions about institutional support for cryptocurrency.

Cryptocurrencies continued to slide as Chinese authorities called for stricter regulation of crypto mining and trading, and the U.S. Treasury Department announced that crypto would need to be more compliant with the IRS.

Bitcoin fell more than 30% on Wednesday to nearly $ 30,000, its lowest price since late January, according to Coin Metrics. The cryptocurrency peaked at $ 65,000 in April.

“Even with this week’s sell-off, cryptocurrencies had an incredible run over the past year,” Price said.

Bitcoin is up 268% over the past year, according to Coinbase. Ether, the second largest cryptocurrency, grew by more than 840%.

Do not kiss or cuddle poultry, says CDC – once more

Do not kiss or cuddle poultry, says CDC – once more

Illustration for article titled It's Your Mouth But Please Stop Kissing Poultry, says CDCPhoto: debasige (Shutterstock)

Look: we know we’ve heard a lot from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) over the past year. What you should do? We lived during a global pandemic caused by a virus never seen before in humans and we all had / have to learn a lot.

But this week the CDC looked at a different type of social distancingwhich is apparently a problem enough that the agency decided it warranted its own investigation. We’re talking about poultry cuddling, of course. No, that’s not a typo (though Poultry smuggling is also a problem). Here’s what to know.

Chickens are not for cuddling

Salmonella outbreaks are currently reported in 43 states, resulting in 163 illnesses and 34 hospitalizations as of May 20. “You can get sick if you touch your backyard poultry or anything around them and then touch your mouth or food and swallow salmonella,” he said CDC explains in its investigation notice. And yes, “touching” includes kissing or cuddling your poultry.

If this sounds familiar to you, that’s because The CDC issued an almost identical warning exactly a year ago (almost to the day). And apparently we haven’t learned our lesson.

The CDC has issued the following guidelines to protect people with so-called “backyard herds” from salmonella:

Wash your hands

We should be pretty used to washing hands often by now, but they CDC has some poultry-specific instructions: “Always wash your hands with soap and water immediately after touching the backyard fowl, its eggs, or anything in the area where they live and roam.” If there isn’t a sink nearby, the CDC suggests using hand sanitizer and leaving some in the stall so it’s always on hand.

Practice handling poultry safely

The best way to prevent the spread of poultry-borne infections is to avoid high-risk poultry behavior. “Don’t kiss or cuddle backyard poultry or eat or drink around them,” he said CDC explains. “This can spread salmonella bacteria in your mouth and make you sick.”

Keep an eye on the (human) children

Let’s face it, most American schools lack comprehensive education about poultry safety. Some children are simply not aware that, according to the CDC, poultry “can carry salmonella bacteria even if they look healthy and clean”.

Make sure children are supervised when they are around chickens and ducks. And if you are a parent, you should have an age-appropriate discussion with your children about responsibility for poultry.

How to decide on the proper tub towel

How to decide on the proper tub towel

Illustration for article titled How To Pick The Perfect Bath Towel Because It's Harder Than You ThinkPhoto: Slice of Cake (Shutterstock)

The first time (or maybe every time) you’ve bought towels, you may have based your selection on 1) the cheapest and 2) a towel. However, as it turns out, if you are in a position where you have some degree of flexibility in your towel budget (considering it is a Investment).

Here’s how to choose one that best suits your unique bathing needs, courtesy of Jackie Revere of Wirecutter in an article for the New York Times.

Figure out what you want in a towel

According to Revere, “a good bath towel should do several things at once – dry off quickly, feel good (if not fantastic) against your skin, match your decor, and be durable enough to last for years.” Essentially the same properties as those You are looking at a potential partner.

Let’s address these one by one:

material

Terrycloth or waffle / grid? That is the question.

Terrycloth

  • Thick material with tightly woven loops
  • What do you think of when you think of a classic soft, fluffy towel
  • Long lasting

Waffle / petals

  • Thin and rough fabric
  • Dries faster
  • Takes up less shelf space

size

There is no standard size for a bath towel, however Revere says that a 28 x 55 inch towel is suitable for an average size person. And while towels seem like something that should be one size fits all, they aren’t. Technically, size doesn’t really matter if you’re only using the towel to dry in your bathroom.

G / O Media can receive a commission

But if you want to do what people do on TV and in movies, where they wrap a towel under their armpits and wear it like a strapless shift dress while they dance in their living room, then those who are extra bosomical or broader want opt for a larger towel. Or more precisely, a bath towel – a longer and wider version of a bath towel, Revere says.

Your decor

If your bathroom has a particular style or color scheme, consider buying towels that will go with your decor. But that’s not our focus today so we’ll move on.

Buy a single towel and give it a try

Sure, a towel might feel nice and soft when you touch it in the store (if that’s still something people do) or when you first open the package when it comes in the mail, but Revere says that it takes a few washes before the towel reveals its true qualities.

So instead of buying a full set of towels and finding out after you wash them (at a time when it’s unlikely you can return them) that they don’t meet your softness standards, buy a towel of the brand / style you are into Consider and test it. Here is as Revere says to do that:

When washing your test towel, skip fabric softeners which can leave buildup that can change the feel and chlorine bleach which can change color. Wash in cold water and dry on low to medium heat.

Once you’ve landed on a towel that works for you, Revere suggests buying at least three bath towels for each person in your household. “You should change your towel every two to three days,” she writes. “So if you do your laundry once a week, you should have enough time to hold out between wash days.”

Is it dangerous in case your joints crack and burst if you transfer?

Is it dangerous in case your joints crack and burst if you transfer?

Man crouchingPhoto: G-Stock Studio (Shutterstock)

Creaky joints might sound like a sign that you are getting older and your body is falling apart, but for the most part, your noisy knees are nothing to worry about. Let’s take a quick look at why joints make noise and how to tell if there’s really a problem.

Most of the snaps are just rearranging your body parts

If you hear a pop or click with every movement, a common reason is that the muscles, tendons, or other body parts surrounding this joint are moving past each other. This is especially common in the shoulders, says orthopedist Kim Stearns of the Cleveland Clinicbecause shoulders have so many moving parts.

If this happens during exercise, you can often improve the situation by warming up and stretching a little before doing the movement that makes the noise. A loosened muscle or curled tendon is less likely to be loud.

Creaking is common in healthy joints too

A creaking, crackling sound from the knees or other joints is known as crepitus and is more common in older people than younger people. People with osteoarthritis often suffer from crepitus, which leads to people with crepitus wondering if they will develop arthritis or if they damage their joints in some way when they move.

G / O Media can receive a commission

Fortunately, that’s not the case. Crepitus is common in people with arthritis and in people without arthritis. The cartilage in our knees becomes rougher over time, and rough cartilage makes more noise as it moves than smooth cartilage. writes Michael Stuart, orthopedic surgeon at the Mayo Clinic.

Ironically, people often think they should stop doing knee exercises when their knees crunch and creak, but Stuart points out that if you have strong leg muscles, your knees will be healthier in the long run. So exercises that use your knees are more likely to help than hurt. This is true even if you know you have osteoarthritis. The The Arthritis Foundation points out their website “Exercise is considered to be the most effective non-drug treatment for pain relief and improvement in exercise in patients with osteoarthritis.”

Is It Bad for Cracking Ankles and Other Joints?

A single “pop” sound that you can’t repeat is usually due to a gas bubble in your joint. The joints are surrounded by a layer of fibrous tissue called a capsule. Inside this capsule is a fluid called synovial fluid that acts as a lubricant when your bones slide against each other.

The leading theory about how to crack your knuckles is that bubbles can form and burst in this liquid, and that the bursting of a bubble creates that characteristic knuckle cracking. The reason you usually can’t crack your knuckles twice in a row is because you’re already bursting the bladder and there is no other to burst. Wait a little, however, and another might form.

But is it unhealthy? There is no solid evidence for this. Several Experts | to have specified that there is nothing wrong with cracking your ankles, including A doctor who only cracked the knuckles of his left hand for 50 years and kept his right hand as a control. He couldn’t tell the difference between the health of his joints in his right and left hands.

When should you seek medical help for creaky joints?

If the sounds in your joints are accompanied by pain or swelling, it is time to see a doctor. That said, pain or swelling in a joint is a sign of a problem, even if it doesn’t happen with creaking noises, so the noises themselves are not the problem.

A single “pop” sound can sometimes occur when you tear certain ligaments or tendons, as anyone who has torn the ACL in their knee can tell you. Again, the sound itself is not the problem; After hearing this “pop” you will notice pain, swelling, or sometimes instability in the joint. (After tearing my ACL, my knee felt loose and wobbly.) Watch out for the injury and don’t forget to mention the pop sound when you tell the story of what happened.

CNBC’s Jim Cramer is eager to focus on the stock market again, but the cryptocurrency craze is still attracting Wall Street’s attention.

He assumes that Bitcoin and other speculative coins will continue to be in the foreground and that the sharp declines in the crypto markets will weigh on stocks. This could create buying opportunities for investors in stocks as another week of profits goes by.

“All in all, this is a historically slow week, but there are enough new companies reporting that they are now full,” said Cramer on Friday at Mad Money, discussing his schedule for the next week.

The coming week will close trading for the month. With the exception of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the major US indices have fallen since the beginning of the month. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite was down 3.5% in May, while the S&P 500 lost 0.6% over the period. The Dow was up about 1% in May.

Cramer gave viewers a preview of the upcoming corporate earnings reports he circled on his calendar.

Try the week’s most stunning superstar transformations

Hair ties and flared pants are back in fashion. So why shouldn’t Moore pick up on yet another trend from the 2000s?

The 37-year-old This is Us star takes us all back into the wee hours of the morning with her latest Thursday, revealing on May 19 that she’s turned blonde again. While this is her natural color, it is the lightest that her hair has had in over 15 years.

It goes without saying: Her latest look is basically a time machine that puts us in her “candy” days. The first time Moore really appreciated being a brunette was for her role in A Walk to Remember in 2002, when she announced to Entertainment Weekly in 2017 that the dark dye was “transformative.” She added, “For the most part, I haven’t gone back since then.” Until now it has been like that.

Moore turned to her colorist Nikki Lee, the co-owner of the celebrity-favored Nine Zero One salon, is trying a new shade of blonde this week.

The best part? You can get the same color at home as Nikki used a box dye on the Tangled Star’s locks. In particular, she used Garnier Nutrisse Almond Crème 70, which sells for just $ 9.

Telling people about the perfect makeover for the summer, Moore said, “I’ve been longing for much-needed changes.” And the new mom continued, “It really felt like now was the perfect time to do something different. The world seems to be opening up again … normal feels like it really is the same Corner.”
