Promoted Deal: Ergonomic Chair | $299 | Branch

As torn up as I am that this is my last week at The Inventory, I recently accepted a new job that’ll have me working from home indefinitely … unless I move to LA, which I won’t. So if I didn’t have one already, I would be the perfect candidate for a commercial-grade ergonomic chair.

G/O Media may get a commission

This one in particular from premium (yet affordable) office supplier Branch costs significantly less than the Herman Miller alternative and offers many of the same perks, including height, tilt, and tension adjustments, as well as an optional lumbar support rest. Its thick cushion can hold weight up to 300 pounds, and a dual-layered mesh back lets your back breathe to prevent it from getting too sweaty, just in time for that scorching summer heat. While by no means essential, you can—if you’re so inclined—tack on an adjustable headrest to match for just $45 more. The seat comes in black, gray, and light blue, though the latter is sold out as of this writing, while the frame can be outfitted in either white or black.

The Branch Ergonomic Chair is $50 off, for a limited time only, bringing its total asking price from $349 down to $299. If you, like me, are going to be spending a lot more time working from home than you were pre-pandemic, your home office chair upgrade is well past due anyway, so you might as well treat yourself while supplies last.

Whether you’re looking to binge Netflix or you need a home base for your PlayStation 5, you can do it all on 70 inches of Samsung LED 4K Smart Tizen TV, down to $680 at Best Buy.

Samsung is a reliable brand, and a $70 discount is good news any day. Take advantage of this offer while it’s still good!

We’ve seen big discounts on new MacBook Pro models with Apple’s powerful new M1 processor, as well as sizable savings on the M1 Mac Mini, but deals on the slim and speedy MacBook Air haven’t been as consistent just yet. Well, here’s a solid one: right now, Amazon is offering $50 off the base model.

The base model with 256GB storage is down to $949 in Gold and Silver, while the Space Gray version is a mere dollar more. Our friends at Gizmodo said the M1 chip makes the MacBook Air “extraordinary,” thanks to fantastic battery life and better performance than some much pricier Windows-based rivals. If you’re on the hunt for a speedy, reliable new laptop, jump on this bargain!

More and more gadgets are launching with wireless charging, and if you’re routinely charging more than one of ‘em, then you might want a larger charging pad. Choetech’s Dual Wireless Charger is up for the task, packing in five charging coils on a surface large enough to hold a smartphone and earbuds case, for example, or a pair of smartphones. It’s a fast wireless charger, too, handling speeds up to 10W for compatible devices, and even comes with the wall adapter.

It’s just $22 right now when you clip the coupon on the page and use code 74OSLY2D at checkout. That’s $14 off the list price, and the device has a 4.4-star rating from 5,400+ customer reviews. It’ll work with any Qi-compatible wirelessly-chargeable devices, including recent iPhones, most top Android phones, and AirPods Pro and other similar earbuds cases.

Sometimes, a small speaker simply won’t cut it. When you’re ready to turn it up to 11 and get a good jam session going, a larger speaker with good sound quality can give you a little more volume to play with. Marshall’s Acton II Bluetooth speaker, which usually retails for $250, is down to $230 right now at Best Buy and offers good sound quality and volume output without costing too much more than smaller speakers.

In addition to good sound, the Acton II offers up to 30 ft. of distance during playback, bass and treble controls that many wireless speakers lack, and the ability to easily switch between paired devices. Oh, and its charming retro design can help bring a bit of charm to your shelves, too.

You can snag the newest iPad Air (4th Generation) at Amazon right now and save $49 off the 64GB base model in Silver only, as of this writing. The more vibrant color options are a bit pricier. If the $559 price doesn’t pop up when you click the link, look to the right and scroll down a bit and see if Amazon seller Expercom still has it listed at that price. Hopefully you can snag one while supplies last.

Want more storage? Certain color options of the 256GB edition are priced at $699 right now, a savings of $50 off the usual list price.

The new iPad Air hits the sweet spot amongst all of Apple’s big slates. It shares a lot in common now with the bigger, more powerful, much more expensive iPad Pro rather than the basic, entry-level iPad. It’s only missing extra cameras and Face ID (but the fingerprint reader is back to help), plus the display isn’t as bright (600 nits vs 500) or smooth (120Hz vs 60Hz).

But it has the powerful Apple A14 Bionic chipset and picks up Apple Pencil support, making this a much sweeter option for casual artists and multimedia buffs. And it comes in those fun colors, too. Apple’s Magic Keyboard attachment is also $100 off at Amazon right now, in case you want to add physical keys and a trackpad to create a true laptop-like experience.

Holy smokes, ya’ll, you can get 38% off a Holy Stone HS160 Pro foldable FPV drone right now at Newegg!

This foldable drone from Holy Stone comes with a little carrying pouch— which should show you how portable it is— and two batteries to power it with. Unfortunately, it seems each battery only lasts about 20 minutes, so you’ll need to make your trips snappy or maybe get more/upgraded batteries down the line.

This drone can capture video in full HD 1080p, so it’s great if you want to capture a shot for your Zillow post or for your YouTube video. I don’t know what people need drone shots for usually, and those were my first two guesses. Anyway, this Holy Stone drone is $50 today, and that’s the key takeaway here, ok?

If you can be patient, some special Star Wars Black Series and Vintage Collection action figures from Hasbro are coming this summer to Entertainment Earth.

You can pre-order the newly revealed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Electrostaff Purge Trooper action figure for $15 right now, ahead of its July 2021 release. What’s special about this one? It’s an Entertainment Earth exclusive, so you’re not going to find it anywhere else, for one thing!

Been thinking of investing in a second (or third) monitor? This Asus monitor is sure to be a good fit, and it’s down to $170 right now at Newegg— that’s way cheaper than it goes for over at Amazon. You can adjust this monitor to fit on your desk by easily tilting or pivoting your screen as needed. Plus, it seems like a great value option as a gaming monitor with its 1ms response time and 75Hz refresh rate, as well as Dual HDMI and VGA connectivity.

Eye strain been a concern? This monitor comes pre-equipped with ASUS eye care technology to soothe your tired eyes from all the screen time necessary these days.

Finally, this monitor also has built-in 2W stereo speakers, so you can go without the external speakers if needed. It’s a Newegg Shell Shocker deal though— so grab it while this price is still good until Monday.

This deal was originally published by Elizabeth Lanier on 4/4/21 and was updated with new information on 4/10/21.

Here’s a bit of modern alchemy for you. EA Play is now part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Because of that, Microsoft actually coverts any EA Play subscriptions into Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions if you’re already a Game Pass Ultimate member. So if you buy 12 months of EA Play, it actually extends your Game Pass Ultimate subscription another four months. It’s a little bit of a head-scratcher, so check Microsoft’s FAQ for exact details here. If you’re looking for a cheap way to extend your Game Pass subscription in a roundabout way, Eneba is selling one year of EA Play for $21 when you use the code EAPLAYORXGPU at checkout. Since Game Pass Ultimate is $15 a month, that means you’re getting an extra few months free here. Just remember that this only works if you’re already subscribed to Game Pass Ultimate, so this won’t work for new members.

I love Overwatch, but I haven’t played it in years. During one of my last sessions with the game in 2017, I played a round as Bastion and got absolutely wrecked. Several children got on mic to dunk on me and I decided I could never show my face in the shooter again. But you, dear reader, are likely stronger than me. I have faith that you are thick-skinned enough to brave the sea of mad children and enjoy a fun video game. If you fit that description, Eneba currently has Overwatch: Legendary Edition on sale for Xbox. Use the code APRILXBOXSALE at checkout and you’ll get a digital key for just $19. All jokes about toxicity aside, Overwatch remains a very fun multiplayer experience that’s especially fun with friends. At $19, it’s a great entry into the series ahead of Overwatch 2, which is coming… eventually.

Disclaimer: While we’ve heard your complaints about our use of Eneba links in the past, note the redirection to EU region-locked products has since been resolved by our affiliate partners at Eneba and Awin.

I’ve got the peanut butter and jelly of deals for you today. We always see low prices on PS Plus subscriptions kicking around, but here’s a truly left-field pairing. You can get a year of PS Plus and a lifetime subscription to VPN Unlimited for $50. That’s a $258 value! PS Plus allows you to play PlayStation games online and grants you access to monthly games that you can download at no additional cost. VPN Unlimited is a security tool that’ll protect your data over Wi-Fi. Let’s call this the “always online” bundle.

People have very strong and mixed reactions about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, so let’s not get into that. What we can all hopefully agree on is that Poe’s orange-clad X-Wing from the film was pretty sick, and if you want to build the ship out of LEGO bricks and save a little cash in the process, now’s your chance.

Right now, Amazon is taking just under $11 off the list price of the Poe Dameron’s X-Wing Fighter kit, which spans 761 pieces and includes minifigures for Poe, Jannah, R2-D2, and a single Knight of Ren. The ship itself has adjustable wings, spring-loaded blasters, and retractable landing gear, so it’s functional too. Maybe you can use it to create your own version of the film!

Have you heard of this game Fortnite? I hear it’s all the rage with the kids. It’s got all of these wild characters, like this banana man and the baby Yoda. It also has this green robot named Master Chief, who only exists in Fortnite. Pretty cool looking guy! Anyways, you can buy a figure of this battle royale star on Amazon for $24, which comes with his signature gun car (the Warthog). Honestly, this is a really cool character design and they should really give this guy his own game sometime down the line.

Take your computer out of sleep mode, because it’s time to load that bad boy up with video games. Newegg is currently running a big PC gaming sale, which largely features EA games and a smattering of great indies. The highlights? How about Doom Eternal: Deluxe Edition for $27? There’s also Star Wars Squadrons for $18, which is incredibly low. Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition is a heck of a steal too at $20. I could go on and on, but the point here is that there are some serious deals here if you’re looking to buff up your collection.

For people of a certain age, these little plastic ovals hung from backpacks and keychains back in the day. If you were really extra, you probably had several; this was me. Let the nostalgia bug bite and return to the fun nightmare of daily care for a digital pet. Of the twenty-nine “egg watches” to pick from, several are on sale, up 24% off actually in every shade and pattern to match your style.

Debuting in 1997, Tamagotchi took the world by storm and even had a bit of a resurgence for the anniversary a few years ago. Whether you want to relive the magic of these or introduce a new generation to them, there are plenty of designs to pick from in this sale. There is something to these, though, as it helps kids manage a daily routine. Raising your Tamagotchi from egg to adult is a bit tougher than you remember. But if you feed it, play with it, clean up after it, give it medicine, your digital pal will flourish. Helping kids understand the responsibility of taking care of a pet without anyone getting hurt can be a valuable lesson, especially if they’ve been asking for a real four-legged friend. Tamagotchi could be the stepping stone to see if your kids are ready for that responsibility.

Look, I love a good deal as much if not more than the next person. So I can recognize that 50% off a top-of-the-line massage chair like this Insignia Zero Gravity full-body model is a very good deal.

At the same time, I just can’t imagine who has the funds to drop $1,000 on a massage chair on a whim. Did you just get your stimulus check? Did you get a tax refund? Do you still have money leftover after paying your bills? I guess that’s the kind of circumstances that could lead to this kind of purchase.

Or maybe you just do well and can afford to drop $1,000 on a massage chair? Good for you. You earned it. You don’t need anyone to touch you, that’s how hard you’ve worked. Get massages and love instead from this massage chair, I guess. With bars and restaurants snatching up air purifiers to meet the respective state regulations to open, these machines are having a moment. But it’s not just dining establishments that deserve to have crisp cool, and clean air; you can bring all these benefits to your own home. Proscenic’s new A9 Smart Air Purifier is one of the best on the market and is currently $40 less.

Compatible with your Alexa or Google Assistant, you can monitor and control this purifier anywhere with ease through the ProscenicHome app. Schedule when it should run, set speeds, adjust the sleep mode, and more simply from your phone. This is a wonderful invention to help with dander and general canine aromas like I have in my house if you have pets. Combating dust and pollen helps keep any room you put this in most hospitable. I grew up with asthma, so I popped this in my bedroom for a few nights and immediately noticed the difference. It was like an invisible cloud was lifted, and everything seemed lighter are airier. This purifier is CARB Certified, so it can pump through larger rooms or spaces with no problems and circulate that air over three times in one hour. This is state-of-the-art with the latest technology and has four stages of filtration. Multiple tests have been shown to capture up to 99.97% of airborne particles; this is due to the HDOF purifying tech. It was painless to set up and effortless to understand. There is an LED screen that very plainly relays where your room is quality-wise with four different colors. I started at yellow and am now happily back in the very comfortable green zone. Let this mighty machine run in “automatic mode” and monitor your living space in real-time. It will figure out when it needs to be running. That takes a lot of guesswork out and makes it not only more efficient but helps you save on energy. I was pleasantly surprised to see the difference and would absolutely recommend every home have one of these.

This will ship free for Prime members.

This clitoral vibrator is just as cute as the above Air in its beautiful baby blue clamshell case. Both of these cases look like compacts and fit snuggling in your purse. They’re USB charged and waterproof too.

I can’t believe it. Mario has died. After 35 years, the famous Italian no longer exists. How is this possible? How can the universe be so cruel? We knew this day was coming. Nintendo gave us fair warning that our time with the plumber was limited when it unveiled its Mario 35 celebrations. Nintendo made it clear that games like Mario 3D All-Stars would disappear from the eShop that day. We took that time for granted and now Mario is fucking dead. In the lead-up to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S launches back in November of last year, I couldn’t go on Twitter without seeing mentions of LG’s CX Series TVs from the people I follow. IGN’s Wesley DeBlanc, PCMag and Tom’s Guide writer Tony Polanco, and even Bugsnax co-creator Philip Tibotoski chimed in at one point or another about their latest pickups. Seemingly the de facto TV for next-gen gaming, the LG CX Series has gone on sale countless times during and in the days since Prime Day/Black Friday/Cyber Monday. This time, however, not only is the 77″ model marked down to $3,297, but it also comes with a $400 Visa gift card and a 2-year warranty that includes burn-in coverage out of the box. So you can rest assured your purchase is protected in the years to come.

The LG CX Series is a 4K OLED TV, complete with Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG high dynamic range formats as well as a smooth 120Hz native refresh rate. For gamers, it’s got AMD FreeSync, Nvidia G-Sync, and a sub-1 millisecond response time, perfect for fast-paced action. For everyone else, you can command the TV using Alexa and/or Google Assistant while Apple users can cast content from their phones using AirPlay 2. Its built-in 2.2-channel speaker system features Dolby Atmos, eliminating the need for a discrete soundbar. Of course, you can always tack one on, or set up a true surround sound home theater system by plugging it into the HDMI 2 eARC port.

This type of bargain doesn’t crop up every day, so if you’re already in the market for a new set, Gizmodo’s Sam Rutherford called this one, “the best home tech upgrade I’ve ever made.” High praise from a trusted source.

Each day US information on April ninth

Each day US information on April ninth

One in five Americans is fully vaccinated, according to the latest data posted on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website Thursday afternoon. A third of the population has received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

The US is currently administering an average of 7 million vaccine doses per day over seven days as the daily case numbers remain below the winter peak but in line with the summer increase.

US percentage of the vaccinated population

More than 66 million Americans, or 20% of the population, are now fully vaccinated with one shot of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine or two shots of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. About a third of the population has received at least one dose of vaccine.

One in four people over the age of 18 is fully vaccinated, and according to CDC data, nearly 60% of those over 65 are fully vaccinated.

US vaccine shots administered

After 3.4 million vaccinations on Thursday, the 7-day average of the administered doses is 3 million per day.

US Covid cases

The rate of new coronavirus cases in the US is well below its peak of around 250,000 new cases per day in January, but is closer to the numbers seen during the summer surge. In July, the average daily number of cases reached nearly 70,000.

The most recent 7-day average of new Covid-19 cases in the US is 66,000, according to Johns Hopkins University.

US Covid deaths

The 7-day average of Covid-19 deaths in the US is 978, according to Hopkins.

The nationwide trend in Covid deaths in the past few days is being influenced by a mass release of data from approximately 1,800 Oklahoma deaths. These deaths are currently all reported for April 7, 2021, although they may have occurred weeks or months earlier. The Oklahoma Department of Health announced that the state is currently transitioning to data reporting guidelines that meet CDC requirements, which is causing this increase.

Prior to this reporting anomaly, the daily US Covid death toll had declined from record levels in January.

If your living spaces are already full of plants, you may want to add some greenery to other rooms in your home, including the kitchen. And how every other room in your homeYour kitchen has its own microclimate thanks to the amount of sunlight, access to fresh air, humidity and temperature.

While it is not possible to find a single plant that is perfect for every kitchen, some species are better suited to the room than others. In this article from The Spruce, House planting expert Cori Sears suggests some plants that could make a nice addition to your kitchen (and have a good chance of survival, too). Here are some of the options.

Herbs

Let’s start with the obvious – herbs. Keeping herbal plants in your kitchen not only gives you easy access to cook with, but as long as the room is bright and exposed to direct sunlight for most of the day, they should grow fairly easily year round. Sears explains. Her top picks for growing indoors are chives, parsley, mint, thyme, rosemary, basil, oregano, and coriander.

Snake plants

Snake plants are so common houseplants that you may already have one in your home. And its ability to survive in the kitchen is really based on the reasons for its general popularity: it’s easy to care for and can handle anything from dim to direct sunlight and everything in between. If your kitchen doesn’t have the best natural light, this is a good choice.

Succulents

If you are envisioning the miniature version of a cartoon cactus, this is just one of the options. According to Sears, there are hundreds of different types of succulents that come in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes. Succulents do best on a sunny windowsill and are fairly low-maintenance thanks to their ability to hold water.

IMF raises Center East development forecast, restoration will probably be “divergent”

The International Monetary Fund has revised its growth forecast for the Middle East and North Africa region upwards as the countries recover from the coronavirus crisis that began in 2020.

Real GDP in the MENA region is now projected to grow 4% in 2021, compared to the fund’s October forecast of 3.2%.

However, the outlook will vary significantly from country to country depending on factors such as vaccine adoption, exposure to tourism, and policies in place, the IMF said in its latest regional economic report released on Sunday.

Vaccine is an important variable this year, and speeding up vaccination could add almost an additional percent of GDP in 2022.

Jihad Azour

Director of the IMF for the Middle East and Central Asia

Jihad Azour, director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia division, said the recovery was “different between countries and uneven between different segments of the population”.

He told CNBC’s Hadley Gamble that growth will be mainly driven by oil exporting countries, which will benefit from the acceleration in vaccination programs and the relative strength of oil prices.

Vaccines an “important variable”

Azour said each country’s ability to recover in 2021 will be “very different”.

“Vaccine is an important variable this year, and accelerating vaccination could add almost an additional percent of GDP in 2022,” he said.

Some countries in the region – such as the Gulf Cooperation Council states, Kazakhstan and Morocco – started their vaccinations early and should be able to vaccinate a significant portion of their population by the end of 2021, the IMF said.

Other nations, including Afghanistan, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon, have been classified as “slow vaccines” that are likely to vaccinate a large proportion of their residents by mid-2022.

The last group – the “late vaccinators” – are not expected to “achieve full vaccination until 2023 at the earliest,” the report said.

It added that early vaccines are expected to hit 2019 GDP levels in 2022, but countries in the two slower categories will recover to pre-pandemic levels between 2022 and 2023.

looking ahead

Azour said innovative guidelines have helped speed the recovery, but it is “very important to do better”.

This could include measures to improve the economy, attract investment, strengthen regional cooperation and tackle the scars of the Covid crisis.

“All of these elements are silver linings that can help accelerate the recovery and bring the region’s economy to levels of growth that existed before the Covid-19 shock,” he said.

The stress aid I want

The stress aid I want

Illustration for article titled The New Mega Construx Pokémon Sets are the stress reliever I needPhoto: Giovanni Colantonio

When I was young there were two specific things I liked. The first, of course, was Pokémon. As a kid in the 90s, it was just inevitable. I wanted every piece of Pokémon merch I could find, whatever it was. To this day I’ll remember one obscure toy I had and think, “Wait, why did I have this?” You could have hit Pikachu on a grinder and I would have asked my parents (actually I would still like that today).

My other obsession was building things. Like many children, I loved toys like LEGOs that I could use to make something out of different bricks. It wasn’t just LEGO, however. I owned tons of K’Nex, a whole range of Puzz3D puzzlesand of course some Pokémon construction kits. The most complicated thing I’ve ever built was a Lapras model that could throw its fins around. It was a rare intersection between two childhood joys.

That energy is back thanks to Mattel’s new Mega Construx Pokémon sets. The new toy line celebrates the 25th anniversary of the franchise with the best builds from Kanto. The sets range from tiny models of creatures like Squirtle to a Jumbo 12 “Pikachu. Each set contains bags full of stones and intricate instructions that read like IKEA instructions. When I saw these sets, I immediately went back to the time I had assembled my little lapras. I had to see if I could rekindle the same spark here.

I chose a medium sized challenge with that 4 “Charizard figure. The 210-piece set consisted of tons of small orange and yellow stones and a set of rubbery wings. I was on my way to the races and clicked the stones together before bed one night. Before long, I had managed to put the entire breast together, which my cat happily knocked over at the first opportunity.

That pleasant first session turned into an obsession the next day. When the work day started to strain me, I decided to take a short break to build more. I completely lost track of the time and within an hour I had most of the model assembled. Here the childlike attraction of such a toy came back; It was an instant de-stressor. It’s such a carefree thing to throw some time aside to sit still and click pieces together. The payoff of a cool Pokémon is so pure and innocent.

As adults, how often do we put things together for sheer pleasure? People always call PC building “LEGOs for Adults,” but it’s an extremely stressful process that involves hundreds of dollars in fragile technology. Don’t even get me started with furniture. I built an outdoor swing two years ago and I hope I never have to take it apart and reassemble it again. It’s nice to have a nice rocking chair outside, but I would have bought it fully molded right away if it had cost me hours of trouble.

After finishing my little Charizard buddy, I felt incredibly relaxed. This very simple pleasure put my brain at ease on a stressful day and I had a small trophy to display on my desk for the experience. Now this building flaw is in me again. I keep watching this 11 “Eevee and think about how many more anxious days could fill up. The Mega Construx set is a perfect combination of childhood nostalgia in a peaceful line of toys. Toys like this may be aimed at children, but more adults should ignore the age sign and give in to their long dormant construction impulses. Maybe we could all finally relax.

MORE stimulus checks are sent out weekly, some with extra cash as many continue to receive their $ 1,400 worth of checks.

New checks and surcharges will continue to be sent out as the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) processes 2020 tax forms and re-evaluates payments, according to CNET.

The IRS is currently recalculating “Plus” payments and sending them – the missing incentive amounts from the two previous checks – as credit for your taxes this year.

One million Plus-Up payments worth over $ 2 million will be sent out this week, according to CNET.

If you’re still waiting for your stimulus check or think you’ve received a payment that is less than expected, then after the IRS has processed your 2020 tax return, you can expect a surcharge.

You can track your stimulus review using the Get My Payment tracker, which the IRS updates daily.

The online app will let you know when you will receive your check and inform you of any issues with your payment that need to be resolved. However, it does not inform you of the exact amount of money to be received.

Illustration for article titled Yahoo Answers showed us exactly how not to seek advice onlinePhoto: Tada Images (Shutterstock)Internet cultureInternet cultureIt’s hard to keep up with internet culture, but don’t worry: every week we tell you the best of what you need to know.

If Yahoo Answers, one of the last bastions of unfiltered crowdsourcing advice on the Internet, closes on May 4th, the website will not be archived. The Alexandria Library’s digital equivalent for bizarre questions is on fire and it will be a huge loss to the internet.

The site’s creation 16 years ago was encouraging, born out of the belief that the community can provide answers to users’ most pressing questions. In reality, Yahoo Answers was more of a frenzied horror show than a source of useful advice from well-meaning internet users.

As anyone with an internet connection and a pulse soon learned, there are far better ways to get advice online, and far better places to ask serious questions and get credible answers. Still, Yahoo Answers are sorely missed, if only for its unique encapsulation of the often weird crush of the web. Let’s revisit some of the classics and how to find better answers than the ones we’ve been given many times.

It was weird sometimes

Yahoo Answers was more of a comedic goldmine than an advisory forum. It’s not a crowdsourced query forum that can’t be useful (Reddit is often a great place to get advice or expert opinion), but Yahoo Answers has been more like a troll pit, as the following evidence shows.

The website covered the full breadth of life, including family issues. Screenshot: Sam Blum / Yahoo Answers (Fair use) Or maybe you remember the story of a 15 year old who appeared to poop on the floor like that was a question. Screenshot: Sam Blum / Yahoo Answers (Fair use) Or this letter about species breeding. (The whole concept of pregnancy was problematic for Yahoo Answers and became a kind of canon.) Screenshot: Sam Blum / Yahoo Answers (Fair use) Or maybe you remember that call for tech support. Screenshot: Sam Blum / Yahoo Answers (Fair use)

advertisingYou can skip the display after 1 second

You can switch to the next slide after 1 second

Or this variation on a theme. Screenshot: Sam Blum / Yahoo Answers (Fair use) Perhaps you found yourself in a similar situation as this user who clearly just wanted to dance. Screenshot: Sam Blum / Yahoo Answers (Fair use) Sometimes, although it was the answers that really gave the site its reputation. Take this entry for example. Which, to be fair, is probably an obvious one ShitpostScreenshot: Sam Blum / Yahoo Answers (Fair use)

You have the idea. Sure, Yahoo Answers has had users digging into and providing legitimately constructive advice. But the more ridiculous side of the page shone brighter and brighter. With its trash can archives, we really only have the screenshots that remind us of the bizarre questions that caught the internet’s imagination.

Where can you find better resources for advice

How to use a highly redundant statement: There is helpful information on the Internet, but it is unlikely to come from strangers. If you’re really concerned about gathering wisdom from an anonymous group of coworkers, you can check out Reddit which, as mentioned, is very well regulated by gushing administrators who decently root out much of the shameful or insincere content. Where not to go is Quora which, much like Yahoo Answers, is an experiment based on the high hopes of crowdsourcing information from random people.

Of course, the best place to look for answers depends on your questions. However, in general, look for information that has been verified by experts. If you have a medical question and don’t have easy access to a doctor, consult sources like that Mayo Clinic , the Cleveland Clinicor credible healthcare institutions like Medical news today (not WebMD). If you have any questions about parenting, give it a try Advice on education-specific forums.

If you’re just looking for a basic understanding of a particular subject, Wikipedia isn’t going to be going anywhere anytime soon and is unlikely to turn into complete nonsense. In short, avoid sending messages into the void and expect a knowledgeable, good-natured stranger to return to offer you a plan of action. Either way, with Yahoo Answers prepared to be removed from the web, you have one less option to do so.

The US states are going through a pointy decline within the J&J vaccine

Vials labeled “COVID-19 Coronavirus Vaccine” and syringe can be seen in front of the displayed Johnson & Johnson logo in this illustration dated February 9, 2021.

Given Ruvic | Reuters

Johnson & Johnson is reducing shipments of its single-dose Covid-19 vaccine next week by 86% as it grapples with manufacturing issues at a large Baltimore facility.

The government allocated just 700,000 J&J shots to the states next week, up from 4.9 million the week before. This is based on data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

J&J is awaiting regulatory approval for a facility in Baltimore operated by Emergent BioSolutions Inc and is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to obtain approval.

Workers at the Baltimore plant mixed the ingredients for the J&J and AstraZeneca vaccines a few weeks ago, resulting in around 15 million J&J doses being ruined. The Biden administration hired J&J to manufacture vaccines at the factory and stopped producing the AstraZeneca vaccine there.

Once approved, J&J could dispense up to eight million doses a week, White House Covid-19 coordinator Jeff Zients said during a news conference on Friday. And the company remains on track to deliver 100 million cans by the end of May.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has urged the Biden administration to increase vaccines in her state, which is grappling with the country’s worst outbreak. Michigan is expected to receive 17,500 J&J cans next week, an 88% decrease from the previous week.

The government said it will continue to assign shots based on population and has no plans to increase doses to more affected states as it cannot predict where infections might rise next.

“There are tens of millions of people across the country in every state and county who have not yet been vaccinated,” Zients said Friday. “And the fair and just way to distribute the vaccine is based on the adult population by state, tribe and territory. That is how it was done, and we will continue to do it.”

“The virus is unpredictable. We don’t know where the next surge in cases might be,” he added.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a statement Friday that the state will only receive 34,900 doses, an 88% decrease from the previous week.

“As has been the case since our vaccination efforts began, the X-Factor is supply, supply, supply, and like any other state, our Johnson & Johnson dose allocation will be significantly lower next week,” said Cuomo.

In California, the J&J grant will decrease from 572,700 to 67,600. Florida from 313,200 to 37,000; and Texas from 392,100 to 46,300.

Some states have also temporarily suspended J&J vaccinations in certain facilities after people suffered side effects. The Georgia Department of Health stopped all recordings in one location after reactions occurred in eight people, and other locations in North Carolina and Colorado also stopped giving doses due to reactions.

However, according to a statement from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, the CDC has found no safety issues or cause for concern regarding the J&J doses. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment also said there was “nothing to worry about.”

“After reviewing each patient’s symptoms, analyzing other vaccinations from the same vaccine lot, and speaking with the CDC to confirm our results, we are confident that there is no cause for concern,” said Dr. Eric France, chief medical officer of the department’s officer, said in a statement.

The J&J vaccine was the third vaccine approved in the United States, after vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. According to CDC data, the company shipped nearly 15 million cans in the US on Friday night.

The US delivers an average of 7 million vaccine doses per day over a seven-day period. One in five Americans is now fully vaccinated, according to the CDC.

The rate of new Covid cases and deaths in the US has fallen dramatically since the winter summit, when hundreds of thousands of new infections and thousands of deaths were reported daily.

According to the Johns Hopkins University, the 7-day average of new cases in the US was 67,000 on Saturday. This is comparable to the upswing that hit the nation last summer. The US reports an average of 982 deaths daily.

New infections are increasing in 23 states as the more infectious variant first identified in Great Britain has become the dominant strain. US President Joe Biden has urged states to grant vaccine appointments to all adults by April 19 as the nation struggles to immunize as many people as possible, people as good as the virus mutates.
