What to sit up for on TV this spring

0

Spring has sprung, as has spring television.

Hopefully this particular spring will include plenty of rainy days, perfect for staying indoors and seeing the endless new seasons and new shows that are on the way over the next few months. There is a lot to get upset about and there is pretty much something for everyone that will be on their way very soon.

Perhaps you have been waiting for the new and final season of Supergirl or a new show about dog grooming! Both arrive on March 30th and Elliot Stabler returns to NBC on April 1st. 22 vets from The Challenge are returning for an All Stars season. Cristin Milioti tries to escape her technically brilliant husband in Made for Love, and Manifest eventually returns to that plane with some answers.

From there, April is a full TV party. The new seasons of Younger, Everything’s Gonna Be Okay and The Handmaid’s Tale are joined by the debuts of The CW’s Kung Fu, Netflix’s epic Shadow and Bone, ABC’s Rebel, Freeforms Cruel Summer, Kate Winslet as a detective in HBO’s Mare of Easttown, John Stamos on Disney + with Big Shot, Jamie Foxx‘s semi-autobiographical comedy on Netflix and Topher GraceReturn to TV sitcoms with Home Economics. And that’s only April!

Use a platter to verify that your sauce is prepared.

If you’ve ever made gravy, or a sauce, or something similar to it, that has a thickener added to it, you know that it works very differently when you take it out of a hot, boiling saucepan and place it on a plate. Gravy, jams, and many sauces thicken as they cool, and it can be difficult to tell when they’re “done” while they’re bubbling away. Instead of relying on how they coat a spoon, put a little on a cold platter or room temperature platter and see how it behaves. (If you’re happy with the spoon trick, great, but I’m always curious to see if the spoon is coated enough or not, and I end up staring at spoons for way too long.)

Illustration for item titled Use a Plate to Check Your Sauce

When choosing the temperature of your plate, keep in mind how you plan to store or serve what you are going to cook. Jam makers test their goods with a cold plate to see how they gel. This makes sense because jams are usually stored in a cold environment. A little jam is placed on a plate that has been in the freezer for five minutes, then the plate is held vertically. When the jam slowly descends, it’s done. (You can also put the jam on a plate and then Put the plate in the freezer. If it gets stuck after a few minutes, you should be good.)

The plate doesn’t have to be so cold for sauces and sauces. Both are usually served on plates at room temperature (or slightly warm), so it makes more sense to test them on these than on something that has been chilled. When you think your sauce or sauce has reached its “end point”, take a spoon and pour it onto a plate at room temperature. Let him rest for a few seconds and watch how he behaves. If it’s a little more runny than you’d like, cook it longer and repeat the process until it’s thickened to your liking.

Tesla whistleblower questioned about photo voltaic fires in CPSC probe

As evidence, a US federal agency is examining a complaint from a former Tesla employee about how the company managed and communicated fire risks and defects in its solar systems. CNBC learned this from documents received at the request of the Freedom of Information Act.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is conducting an investigation and has also interviewed the former Tesla employee who filed the complaint in spring 2019, Steven Henkes, who was then Tesla Solar Field Quality Manager.

CNBC found out about the investigation by asking the CPSC for a full copy of the whistleblower complaint. The agency declined to file the full complaint, but revealed: “The records we are holding are of an open investigation and consist of internal and external reports.” The exact scope and focus of the investigation is currently unknown.

Henkes is also suing Tesla for retaliation.

In a lawsuit filed in Alameda County in November 2020, Henkes said he was fired from his job at Tesla on August 3, 2020 after raising security concerns internally and filing formal complaints with government agencies when Tesla failed to act, To fix the problem Communicate closely with customers about unacceptable fire risks in the company’s solar systems.

Henkes believes that “due to serial errors in the Tesla installations, there is still a real fire hazard,” according to a statement emailed by his attorney Robert Wallace. “Consumers were not adequately informed about the risks,” the statement said.

Tesla got into the solar business in late 2016 when it acquired SolarCity for $ 2.6 billion. Tesla Energy (formerly SolarCity) installs photovoltaic, ground and carport solar systems on the roof.

While Tesla does not break down solar energy revenues itself, “power generation and storage” accounted for only 6% of the company’s total revenue in 2020, but up 30% year-over-year at the end of 2020, according to the financial report. On a January 27 earnings call, Musk said to analysts, “We care deeply about solar and it’s growing rapidly. I think it won’t be long before Tesla is by far the leader in solar.”

Tesla’s systems have been installed in homes including military housing units at Fort Bliss and other bases, schools in the LA unified school district, and commercial facilities such as Walmart stores and Amazon warehouses.

As CNBC previously reported, Tesla solar systems previously caught fire. In August 2019, Walmart sued Tesla for negligence after solar roof systems installed by Tesla Energy were ignited at multiple Walmart locations.

In court records, Walmart said Tesla did not properly monitor, repair, and maintain these systems, even after the fires. The fires caused significant damage and faulty systems posed serious risks to employees, customers and companies, according to Walmart’s complaint at the time.

On November 5, 2019, the companies issued a joint statement looking forward to a “safe revitalization of our sustainable energy systems”. The exact terms of billing the companies – and the cost of Tesla – were never disclosed.

Neither company immediately responded to requests for comment on the CPSC investigation.

Greg Sellers, CEO of a solar maintenance and repair company in Morgan Hill, Calif., Says the fire hazard in solar photovoltaics, whether at home or in larger facilities, is still very low. Research by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems supports his observations from practice.

Without commenting specifically on Tesla, Sellers said, “For those of us who work on the repair and safety side, every incident is too numerous. Fires are still very rare. That’s why they get so much publicity when they happen.” He says it is generally more likely that a fire is caused by a failed installation practice than a component failure. And he notes that as these systems become more widespread, solar installers keep getting better.

Public Safety Concerns

CNBC asked the CPSC – a federal agency whose job it is to “protect consumers from products that pose a fire, electrical, chemical, or mechanical hazard” – for a copy of Henkes’ full complaint after its fourth quarter lawsuit referred to in 2020.

Abioye Ella Mosheim, chief officer of the CPSC’s Freedom of Information Act, declined, citing an exception for records related to an open investigation. She wrote, “The records you requested are from the files of the CPSC Office of Compliance and Field Investigation.

Henkes declined to speak to CNBC directly, but answered some questions via email through his attorney, Robert Wallace.

He confirmed that the CPSC interviewed Henkes and asked the former Tesla employee to provide the agency with additional material. Some of the items Henkes made in a “CP-15” complaint to the government included:

· Error analysis reports from an external engineering company

· Internal meeting minutes, reports and emails

· Examples of customer notifications

· Photos of thermal events related to client houses

· Meeting minutes and presentations from a supplier named Amphenol and Tesla

Henkes wants Tesla to “reconsider its clarity with the customer,” said his lawyer on his behalf. The former employee was working to implement a “permanent countermeasure” for the issues he encountered prior to his release, the lawyer added. However, Henkes claims that at the end of his tenure at Tesla he was “constantly thwarted and then fired for continuing to work for public safety.”

Another former Tesla Solar employee, who asked not to be named because he is still in the solar industry, upheld many of Henkes’ allegations in the public lawsuit.

In particular, that person said that many of Tesla’s solar systems, especially those that contain certain roof rack components and Amphenol H4 connectors, pose a significant fire risk and that Tesla’s remediation or change efforts have not been transparent or effective. They also said the company has not yet repaired or removed all systems with known fire risks.

Tesla used to outsource refurbishment efforts and maintenance of its aging solar fleet, but is now canceling at least some of those contracts and bringing the process back up and running, according to this former employee.

arrange Auto HDR for Home windows 10 PC video games

Microsoft adds Auto HDR to Windows 10. The new setting, borrowed from the Xbox Series X / S, extends DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 games, which otherwise only have SDR (Standard Dynamic Range), with HDR color and brightness levels (High-Dynamic Range) ). Microsoft Notes Auto HDR technology doesn’t match native HDR graphics, but using this feature still results in more colorful and vibrant PC games – and even older titles that weren’t designed for HDR get a boost.

Auto HDR is available in the latest version of Windows Insider Dev Channel (Build 21337) but will be rolled out on the stable version of Windows 10 in the coming weeks. To join the Insider Program and install the new developer build to try out Auto HDR early:

  1. Go to Windows Insider Program Home Page.
  2. click “To register,” Then sign in with your Microsoft account.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows Insider Dev Channel Build 21337 (or higher).

Joining the Windows Insider Program is only required if you want to try Auto HDR early. However, all users will need an HDR monitor to take advantage of the new display settings as they become available. If your hardware is HDR capable, you can enable Auto HDR in Windows 10 as follows:

  1. Right click on your desktop screen and select “Display settings” (or open the Start menu and go to Settings> System> Display).
  2. On the Display menu, click “Windows HD Color Settings.”
  3. Make sure, that “Use HDR” Toggle is enabled, then scroll down and activate “Auto HDR.” ((Note: If “Use HDR” and “Auto HDR” If they’re grayed out or missing, your monitor doesn’t support HDR.)
  4. Close the settings window.
  5. The next time you play a PC game, Auto HDR will be activated automatically if the game supports this feature.

Microsoft has also created a special “split-screen” mode that lets you see the difference Auto HDR makes in real time. Enabling Split Screen Auto HDR will show non-HDR gameplay on one display and HD HD enhanced graphics on the other. Obviously, if you render the game twice it will affect performance and slow down your PC. According to Microsoft, split-screen mode is for developers looking to check out Auto HDR’s improvements, but all Windows insiders can give it a try if they’re curious:

  1. Run the command prompt as an administrator.
  2. Run this command to enable Split Screen Auto HDR: reg add HKLM SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control GraphicsDrivers / v AutoHDR.ScreenSplit / t REG_DWORD / d 1
  3. Run this command to disable it: reg delete HKLM SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control GraphicsDrivers / v AutoHDR.ScreenSplit / f

Why Meghan Markle’s boyfriend was each “excited” and “fearful” for her

0

There is such a thing as bad press.

In this clip from tonight, the brand new E! True Hollywood story Meghan Markle‘s high school friend, called Simone Burns Dilley, reveals the concern she had about the suit actress who became the duchess and joined the royal family.

“We were thrilled with her,” she shares with the THS camera. “But I can be honest, at the same time I was worried.”

Simone continues: “She was divorced, she’s half black. I said, ‘Oh my god, you’re going to be so mean to her.'”

And it seems that Simone’s concerns were justified Sarah-Jane CrawfordThe television and radio presenter explains the reputation of the British press. “The British media have a reputation for wanting to build someone up and overturn them again,” she said in a confessional. “And there were racist undertones.”

Meghan and husband Prince Harry both have spoken out against British tabloids on several occasions. In fact, in a sitting interview with Oprah WinfreyMeghan discussed the negative attention she was getting from the press.

Easy methods to tame your interior critic with psychologist Ethan Kross

Do you ever find yourself on a spiral of fear thinking about things that are bothering you? Have you ever repeated or fought this awkward interaction with your partner over and over again?

If you’ve ever struggled with any of these things, you’ll appreciate this week we’re learning how to better control that voice in our heads with the help of psychologist Ethan Kross. Listen to this week’s upgrade episode to learn why reaching out to a trusted friend isn’t always the most helpful, and how language and other distancing tools can help us get a better perspective on our problems.

Ethan is a professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan and the Ross School of Business and one of the world’s foremost experts on mind control. His book is called Chatter: The voice in our head, why it matters and how to use it.

Highlights from this week’s episode

From the Ethan Kross interview:

What chatter is about and why it’s a problem:

I think the first thing to clarify is that chatter isn’t just negative self-talk. When I speak to people about this topic, a lot of people say, “Well, how do I stop being negative with myself?” The ability to be critical at certain moments is really useful. If I decline an interview or a presentation, it is good for me to be able to say, “Oops! You screwed this up. The following went wrong. “What chatter is when we get stuck in a loop. So I screwed up, “Oh my god, what am I supposed to do? What if that happens? “And then that and the next thing you know, you’re fired or have cancer, right? So you’re stuck on that hamster wheel. We’re taking something negative, you just zoom in on the negativity of it.

How temporal distancing can help ease chatter:

[R]Right before we signed up, I had two kids who systematically disassembled their mother’s closet to find something green for St. Patrick’s Day and were screaming everywhere. “I’m on a podcast!” Do you know what can i do? I might think, “I’ll be vaccinated in four months. I should be back at work and not have all this commotion at home … ”What it means to transport myself into the future is to distance yourself. It makes me realize [the] big picture. What I’m going through right now is terrible. But guess what? It’s temporary. It will end. That gives me hope. And hope is a balm for chatter.

How speaking to ourselves in third person can help us manage our rumination:

What we learned is that language can be a distancing tool. We usually use names when we’re thinking about relating to other people and what we’ve learned – it’s like a linguistic hack or a jujitsu psychological movement – when we’re using our own name to think about ourselves, something our perspective changes. It makes us relate to ourselves like we’re talking to someone else and that gives us distance and that can be productive too.

For more great tips on how to suppress that worrying, self-critical inner voice, we highly recommend listening to the entire episode.

The CDC Covid tips should adapt extra rapidly to new scientific findings

0

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention must adjust their Covid recommendations faster as new scientific knowledge emerges, said Dr. Scott Gottlieb told CNBC on Monday, adding that the agency needs to do the same with more transparency.

“These guidelines have more of an economic impact than regulation,” but Gottlieb said in Squawk Box that they are much less publicly scrutinized.

The former Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration’s comments came after the CDC changed its guidelines on social distancing in schools, not society at large, on Friday. The Public Health Agency said that with universal masking, most students can sit 3 feet apart instead of the previous 6 foot protocol. The CDC also continued to recommend a separation of at least 6 feet between adults in schools and between adults and students.

In an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal on Sunday, Gottlieb urged the CDC to be more open about the science behind their guidelines, writing that the “exact basis for their initial view of staying 6 feet apart” remains unclear . In the Journal and on CNBC, he said initial recommendations and precautions early last year were based on the novel coronavirus, which spread like seasonal influenza.

“It was sensible to do this because we didn’t know much about the coronavirus and therefore assumed that it would behave like the flu. It didn’t behave like the flu,” said Gottlieb in “Squawk Box” and claimed it crucially led health officials to “both overestimate and underestimate this virus”.

“It’s not so much an important question: ‘Were we wrong?’ We were wrong in some ways, “added Gottlieb, who headed the FDA in the Trump administration from 2017 to 2019. “But: ‘Have we learned quickly enough and adjusted our recommendations and guidelines quickly enough?’ The answer is no. “

In a statement to CNBC, a CDC spokesman said that “during the first year of the pandemic, there were concerns about some of the CDC’s guidelines.” However, the spokesman said the agency’s new director under President Joe Biden, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, has “pledged to restore scientific credibility and public confidence in the agency” the latest science.

We underestimated the role of air quality and quality masks because we underestimated that aerosol transmission spreads this.

Dr. Scott Gottlieb

Former FDA commissioner

Gottlieb said on CNBC that health officials “have overestimated the benefits of physical distancing because the flu spreads primarily through droplet transmission, and we know droplets don’t spread more than six feet.” On the other hand, he added, “We underestimated the role of air quality and quality masks because we underestimated the fact that aerosol transmission spreads it.”

Initially, doctors had expressed some skepticism about whether advising Americans to wear face covering – especially something homemade like a scarf or headscarf – would be effective. However, in early April last year, the CDC began recommending that people wear them in public, especially in environments like grocery stores where social distancing was more difficult to maintain.

There is little debate in the public health community these days about the importance of wearing face masks, and some experts like White House Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anthony Fauci, even started to suggest that wearing two masks is probably more effective.

As early as October, the CDC recognized the spread of the coronavirus through particles in the air that “linger in the air for minutes to hours” and infect people who were more than a meter apart.

On the CDC website, titled “How COVID-19 Spreads,” the health department says it “most often” happens through close contact between people within 6 feet.

“There is evidence that, under certain conditions, people with COVID-19 appear to have infected others more than three feet away,” adds the CDC. “These transmissions took place in closed rooms with insufficient ventilation. Sometimes the infected person breathed heavily, for example when singing or exercising.”

Some of the areas where Covid risks were initially overestimated also included contaminated surfaces, Gottlieb told CNBC. The CDC updated its website in May 2020 – about two months after the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus a pandemic – to emphasize that the virus did not spread easily from a person touching a contaminated surface, according to NBC News.

Gottlieb acknowledged that in the early stages of a health crisis like the Covid pandemic, there may be a lack of quality information to use as a basis for guidelines.

“When the CDC makes recommendations, there are different levels of evidence and different levels of security behind those recommendations,” he said. “If the agency is unsure or suggests a recommendation for a less specific science, they should be really transparent about it so that we can take seriously an interpretation we want to take, but they usually don’t.”

The CDC spokesman told CNBC that “key findings” have already been implemented following the agency’s latest review, including “reviewing key guidelines for possible updates at least every three months” and “improving clarity and usability”.

Dr. Scott Gottlieb is a CNBC employee and board member of Pfizer, the genetic testing startup Tempus, healthcare technology company Aetion, and Illumina biotech. He is also co-chair of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings and Royal Caribbean’s Healthy Sail Panel.

Die tatsächlichen Kosten für die Lieferung von Lebensmitteln in Singapur, Cash Information

0

Kostenvergleich: Lebensmittellieferung gegen Mitnahme gegen Abendessen

Lebensmittellieferservice Mitnahme Speisen in Varianz vs Dine-In
Hawker Gericht (BBQ Stingray, klein) 18,59 $ 12,50 USD (einschließlich Paketkosten) $ 12 + 6,59 USD
Restaurantessen (Rindfleischnudel, reg) 15,39 $ 11,50 $ 11,50 $ + $ 3,89
Bubble Tea (Honiggrüner Tee, lrg) 13,89 USD 4,30 $ 4,30 $ + 9,59 USD

Versandkosten

Artikel GrabFood Deliveroo Foodpanda Airasia Essen

Kombinieren Sie Ihre Bestellungen

The Nasdaq rises as expertise shares rebound on falling bond yields. Tesla will increase by 4%

The Nasdaq Composite led the S&P 500 higher on Monday amid falling government bond yields as Wall Street seemed to bounce back after a lost week.

The tech-heavy benchmark gained 0.8% as the 10-year return fell. The S&P 500 rose 0.4%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 30 points.

Tesla’s shares rose more than 4% as interest rates fell and as Cathie Woods Ark Invest set a new price target on the stock that was to quadruple over four years. Apple, Facebook and Microsoft all gained at least 1%.

The 10-year government bond yield fell 3 basis points to around 1.7% after hitting a 14-month high last week (1 basis point equals 0.01%). The rise in interest rates has raised concerns about valuations of growth and technology stocks.

“After the reopened exuberance subsided and interest rates subsided, investors will be moving back to large-cap technology stocks with strong free cash flow, recurring income and increasing user penetration,” said Richard Saperstein, chief investment officer at Treasury Partners.

The three main indices lost ground last week. The Dow and S&P 500 slid on Friday, ending the week 0.5% and 0.8% respectively, breaking two-week winning streaks. The Nasdaq Composite lost 0.8%.

The struggle for stocks came as bond yields rose again last week, putting pressure on the high-growth stocks that brought the market back from its pandemic-triggered sell-off last year.

Despite last week’s weakness, the S&P 500 and Dow are still near record highs, and the Nasdaq is not too far away. Darrell Cronk, chief investment officer of Wells Fargos Wealth and Investment Management, said the stock market is still on track for multi-year growth.

“If you went down the list and started putting check-check-check-check boxes, you’d look at this in a vacuum … and say it looks like an early recovery cycle that goes on for about a year and probably a number of years left to run, “said Cronk.

Optimism about markets and the path of the US economy has increased as vaccines roll out across the country. In the past few weeks, the American pace has increased. However, there has been an increase in Covid-19 cases in several states.

U.S. study data released on Monday showed that the Covid vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University is 79% effective in preventing symptomatic illness and 100% effective against serious illness and hospitalization.

In the event that “not getting a deadly virus” is not enough to offer your arm for a few doses of the vaccine, Krispy Kreme encourages you a little more – in the form of free donuts all year round.

The company announced today that you can get a free original glazed donut from now until the end of 2021 if you show a valid vaccination card any day, anytime, anywhere. You can go to multiple locations once a week, once a day, or on a specific day, and they’ll just pass them on.

With this offer, Krispy Kreme is doubling its support for everyone involved in the fight against COVID-19. According to a company spokesperson, over the course of the pandemic, the brand has given away more than 30 million donuts to healthcare workers, first responders, teachers, coaches, and senior graduates – more on the way to healthcare workers and volunteers helping deliver the vaccine. And to encourage their own to get the shot, the company gives each employee up to four hours of paid time off to get vaccinated.

If you really want to make the trip to your local Krispy Kreme location worthwhile, go every Monday from March 29th to May 24th and grab a free medium-sized coffee as well – no purchase required. (And if you’re still waiting for your vaccine appointment, get your own free, original glazed donut on these Mondays too.)
