Catherine O’Hara has simply accepted her golden globe with a martini

Moira Rose would be so proud!

Schitt’s Creek Star Catherine O’Hara won the award for best actress in a comedy or musical at the 2021 Golden Globes. And believe it or not, it was her very first win at the Globes for her iconic twist as the matriarch of the Rose family in popular pop TV series.

And of course she held her acceptance speech with a martini in hand.

“Thank you thank you!” O’Hara gushed as she practically received her awards before saying she was “happy and earnestly indebted” to her on-screen husband and son. Eugene and Daniel Levywho created Schitt’s Creek.

“From day one, they treated me as if something like this could happen!” She said. “You wrote an inspiring, fun, beautiful family love story in which I was allowed to wear a hundred wigs and speak like an alien. From the first reading through, where no one had to fake a laugh, to the last day on the set, everyone except me , had to hold back her tears. It is an experience that will forever be dear to my heart and I am proud to be part of her family. “

CDC director approves J & J’s one-time Covid vaccine

Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, signed Johnson & Johnson’s one-off Covid-19 vaccine for those ages 18 and older on Sunday as the federal government prepares to ship millions of doses this week.

Walensky’s green light comes after a CDC advisory panel unanimously voted to recommend the use of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine.

“Today is an encouraging step towards an end to the # COVID19 pandemic,” wrote Walensky on Twitter. “I have now signed the recommendation of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) confirming the safety and effectiveness of Janssen’s COVID-19 vaccine for people aged 18 and over.”

The federal government can now begin shipping cans to locations across the country. The ACIP met in an emergency meeting to review the vaccine dates, which took place on Saturday became the third shot to receive emergency clearance from the Food and Drug Administration.

Dr. Richard Nettles, vice president of medical affairs at J&J, told lawmakers Tuesday that the company was ready to ship nearly 4 million doses once it receives emergency approval. He added that the company expects to have 20 million cans ready by the end of March.

The introduction of the J&J shot could be a boon to the U.S. vaccine supply. While the new vaccine showed signs of being less effective at preventing Covid-19 in clinical trials when compared to Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, the J&J shot was 100% effective at preventing deaths and hospitalizations, caused by Covid-19 in clinical trials.

The level of protection of the J&J vaccine against Covid-19 in studies varied regionally, according to FDA documents released on Wednesday. About a month after inoculation, the shot showed 72% effectiveness in the US, 61% in Latin America and 64% in South Africa, where variant B.1.351 is spreading rapidly.

In particular, the FDA review found the vaccine was significantly less effective in people aged 60 and over who also had comorbidities like diabetes or heart disease. However, the agency found that the data was too sparse for any conclusions to be drawn.

In contrast, in clinical studies, Pfizer’s vaccine has been found to be 95% effective against Covid-19, while Moderna’s vaccine is around 94% effective. Infectious disease experts pointed out that J & J’s numbers cannot be used as a head-to-head comparison with the other two vaccines because it is a single dose and the company’s study was conducted when more infections, as well as new, more contagious variants occurred.

However, federal health officials have indicated that the one-off J&J regime offers unique logistical benefits that could make it ideal for hard-to-reach populations.

J & J’s vaccine “makes it easier to use in many contexts,” said Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases of the CDC, told the Journal of the American Medical Association during a question and answer session Friday. “I suspect that much of the national health consideration given to these vaccines is more about the ease of use of the J&J vaccine and how it might be better suited to some populations.”

J&J has announced that it will ship the vaccine, which contains five doses per vial, at 36 to 46 degrees Fahrenheit. In comparison, Pfizer’s vaccine typically has to be stored in ultra-cold freezers, which are between minus 112 and minus 76 degrees Fahrenheit. However, the FDA recently announced that it could be stored in pharmacies for up to two weeks at standard freezing temperatures. Moderna vaccine must be shipped at 13 to 5 degrees above zero Fahrenheit.

It will stop birds from pecking at your home windows

Sometimes birds fly into windows. In other cases, they can perch on the outside of your windowsill and peck a little. It might seem like they’re trying to get your attention, and if you’ve been stuck in the last year, you might even be tempted to let it in for a quick chat. (But not.)

And then there are some birds that return day after day and aggressively peck at your window as if you owe them money. Not only are they annoying, but pecking could hurt their beak and windows. Here’s how to prevent this from happening.

Illustration for article titled How To Prevent Birds From Pecking Your Windows

Why do birds peck at windows?

Every year during the mating season of the birds – from May to August – male birds try to find a perfect place for their new nest. And once they do, they protect it as well as the area around it. Sometimes this area is in a person’s back yard, including the back of a house.

This is where pecking comes in. Per hunker::

When light hits window glass at certain angles, a nearby bird can see its own reflection. A territorial man perceives this reflection as another man, a serious threat to his space. Men with this territorial mindset can attack other reflective surfaces as well, such as B. the side mirrors of a vehicle.

But it’s # NotAllBirds – some are more prone to window pecking than others. Here are the species found in North America::

  • Northern Cardinals
  • American robins
  • Wild turkeys
  • Northern Mockingbirds
  • American goldfinch
  • Ruffed wood grouse
  • Titmice California Towhees

How do you stop pecking?

The key here is that the windows are less shiny on the outside and therefore reflective. Start by identifying the spot the bird usually pecks, then try any of these tactics as well Courtesy of Hunker::

  • A window screen is temporarily stuck over this area with adhesive tape or tape or a fine mesh material that allows light to pass through, but prevents possible reflection.
  • Non-glossy plastic sheets, such as those used for a drape, will also work.
  • For even better results, glue or pin the plastic to the top of the window and let it hang freely and move in the wind. The movement will Scare birds Path. Since this isn’t exactly a do-it-yourselfer, you may want to limit the plastic fluttering to windows that face off to the side or the back yard.

Iran opposes casual nuclear talks with the US and the EU, and insists that Biden drop sanctions first

WASHINGTON – Iran on Sunday declined an invitation from the world powers that signed the 2015 nuclear deal to discuss the regime’s possible return to the negotiating table. This was a major setback to the Biden government’s efforts to revive the agreement.

“Given the recent actions and declarations by the United States and three European powers, Iran does not consider it time to hold an informal meeting with these countries proposed by the EU foreign policy,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh Information from the state media in Tehran.

The White House said Sunday that the Biden administration was disappointed with Iran’s decision to skip the informal meeting with the US and the other 2015 Pact signatories – France, Germany, the UK, Russia and China.

“While we are disappointed with Iran’s response, we remain ready to engage in meaningful diplomacy to bring about a mutual return to JCPOA commitments,” a senior administrative official told NBC News.

“We will consult with our P5 + 1 partners about the best way to go,” said the official, referring to the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany.

Biden’s government has previously stated that it intends to revive the nuclear deal but will not suspend sanctions until Tehran returns to compliance. Tehran has refused to negotiate as long as the US sanctions remain in place.

The 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) brokered by the Obama administration lifted sanctions against Iran, which had paralyzed its economy and roughly halved its oil exports. In exchange for billions of dollars in sanction relief, Iran agreed to dismantle part of its nuclear program and open its facilities to wider international inspections.

The US and its European allies believe Iran has ambitions to develop an atomic bomb. Tehran has denied this claim.

In 2018, then-President Donald Trump kept an election promise and withdrew the United States from the JCPOA in what was dubbed the “worst deal ever”. After Washington pulled out of the landmark nuclear deal, other signatories to the pact have tried to keep the deal alive.

In a letter published by Sunda ‘, Republican senators warned President Joe Biden not to rejoin the 2015 nuclear deal because it was “fraught with problems” and urged a broader deal instead.

“The scope of an agreement with Iran must address all Iranian behavior, including regional terrorism, ballistic missiles and the detention of US nationals. It is not surprising that Iranian proxies support Assad’s ongoing atrocities in Syria, attack our forces and diplomats in Iraq have pushed Lebanon to the brink of collapse, threatened our Israeli and Gulf partners and contributed to the world’s largest humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen, “wrote Sens. Jim Inhofe from Oklahoma, Jim Risch from Idaho, Marco Rubio from Florida. Pat Toomey from Pennsylvania and Rob Portman from Ohio in a joint letter to Biden.

“Despite the criticism of the ‘max pressure’ campaign, it cannot be denied that it has cost Iran its malicious activities and is now offering your government an opportunity to get a better deal from Iran. We know Iran cannot be trusted to honor its commitments, “wrote the senators.

Washington’s ongoing stalemate with Tehran

Washington’s tense relationship with Tehran deteriorated several times under the Trump administration.

Last year the US carried out an air strike that killed Qasem Soleimani, Iran’s top military commander. Iran retaliated by firing at least a dozen missiles from its territory on Jan. 7 at two military bases in Iraq that housed US and coalition forces.

A day later from the White House, Trump said Iran appeared to be “stepping back” and warned Tehran to give up its nuclear ambitions.

After the deadly US strike, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the Trump administration had committed an “act of terrorism”.

Soleimani’s death led the regime to further reduce compliance with the international nuclear pact. In January 2020, Iran said it would no longer curtail its uranium enrichment capacity or its nuclear research.

In October, the United States unilaterally imposed UN sanctions on Tehran as part of a snapback process that other members of the UN Security Council had previously stated that Washington was not empowered to carry out because it withdrew from the nuclear deal in 2018.

A month later, a top Iranian scientist was murdered near Tehran, leading the Iranian government to claim that Israel, with US support, was behind the attack.

In the summer of 2019, a series of attacks in the Persian Gulf set the US and Iran on the way to a more intense confrontation.

In June, US officials said an Iranian surface-to-air missile shot down an American military surveillance drone over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran said the plane was over its territory. That strike came a week after the US blamed Iran for attacks on two oil tankers in the Persian Gulf region and after four tankers were attacked in May.

In June, the US imposed new sanctions on Iranian military leaders who were held responsible for shooting down the drone. The measures were also aimed at blocking financial resources for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

Tensions rose again in September 2019 when the US blamed Iran for strikes in Saudi Arabia at the world’s largest crude oil processing plant and oil field.

This attack forced the kingdom to cut its manufacturing operations in half and sparked the largest surge in crude oil prices in decades and renewed concerns about a new war in the Middle East. Iran claims it was not behind the attacks.

The battle between Facebook and Australia to spread news on the platform came to a head. The conflict began in 2018 when an Australian investigation found that Google and Facebook were the dominant forces in the country’s media and advertising market. As a result, the government suggested that companies should pay for the content they display, such as news reports, as it benefits the giants of Silicon Valley compared to the media itself. After Australia threatened to completely remove the search engine from the country, Google agreed to pay Rupert Murdoch’s media empire News Corp for content on February 18. However, Facebook has chosen to block all messages from its platform in Australia to prevent users from seeing or sharing the content. However, it wasn’t long before Facebook overturned the decision and agreed to resume the news content following changes to the law proposed by the Australian government. As of Friday, the news was back on the Facebook timeline in Australia. But not all government-business relations worked out this week …

The municipal water company Emasesa in Seville is focusing on green energy and solving the city’s orange problem. The city in southern Spain is known for the bright oranges that are scattered on its 48,000 trees in spring. Seville’s trees attract tourists and produce 5,700 tons of fruit, but most of them are rotten. By winter, the oranges are wreaking havoc in the city as they fall on paths and streets, and the local government will have to employ around 200 people to clean them up. But now the city’s fruits are said to be used to generate electricity using the methane that the fruits give off when they decompose. This clean electricity will initially be used to operate one of the city’s water treatment plants. Tests have shown that 1 ton of oranges can produce 50 kWh of electricity, enough to supply five households with electricity for one day. It is predicted that using all of the city’s oranges could power up to 73,000 households. Keep clicking or scrolling to read more stories you may have missed …

That is the way you forestall your basement from flooding when snow melts

In the past few weeks, many parts of the country have seen serious winter weather – including areas where this type of snow and ice is not normally seen. And finally, the snow and ice will melt, creating more water than usual, and some homes can’t handle it. Fortunately, there are a few steps you can take to prevent water from getting into your home and flooding your basement. Here’s what to know.

Illustration for article titled How to Prevent Your Basement from Flooding When Snow and Ice Start to Melt

How can snow cause cellar floods?

You may not associate flooding with snow, but there are times when the weather warms up quickly.

This is what happens loudly Flood Services Canada::

Melting snow basement floods are caused when snow collects around the foundation of your home or property in winter and melts as the temperature warms. Combined with spring rainfall, this buildup of water can get into the ground and seep into the groundwater, causing flooding in your basement. This won’t be the case with every property – it depends on whether your foundation passes a “stress test”. If the foundation is susceptible to groundwater ingress, the chances of having water in your basement increase.

This is how you prevent your basement from being flooded in winter

The best way to protect your basement from flooding is to shovel the snow at least three feet away from the foundation before it can melt. Here are some other tips, courtesy of On-site restoration::

  • If your home is on an incline or hill, shovel snow so it doesn’t roll towards your home when it melts. This ensures that melting snow will flow away from, and not into, your home.
  • Remove snow from your roof to avoid excessive buildup. This will prevent a significant amount of water from flowing through your gutters during thawing.
  • Keep the drainage areas around your home free of snow and ice. This ensures that melting snow drains properly and prevents backups.
  • Examine the basement walls for cracks. This also includes sealing around windows. Make the necessary repairs to prevent water from entering your basement.
  • Review your landscape before the snow arrives to make sure the ground is sloping away from your home. If necessary, add additional soil to allow the melting snow to drain off your foundation.
  • Check your roof for ice and snow build-up. This can cause ice damage that can allow melting snow to seep through your roof.
  • Check your gutters and downspouts. In the fall, remove leaves and other debris regularly as this can cause clogging. Add downspout extensions to draw melting snow away from your home.
  • Test your sump pump in the winter to make sure it works properly when the snow melts. Pour a bucket of water into the sump to turn on the pump. If it does not turn on, unplug the power cord from the outlet and investigate the problem.

If water ends up in your basement, don’t ignore it. Keep the area where the water got as clean and dry as possible.

Recent iPhones beat their Android counterparts on processing power by a clear margin thanks to Apple’s own chips, and now the company is bringing the same kind of mentality to Macs with its new in-house M1 processors.

The first MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac Minis with M1 chips launched late last year and were lauded for their immense processing gains, surprising power savings and battery life boost, and limited issues running yet-to-be-updated software designed for Intel-powered Macs. Gizmodo reviewer Caitlin McGarry called the M1 Air “the best overall laptop I’ve ever used.”

And now you can get your own, thanks to a sale on versions of all three Macs at Amazon. The compact desktop Mac Mini is $40 off the base 256GB configuration ($659) or $50 off the 512GB edition ($849). The base model is currently not set to ship until April, as of this writing, but that could change.

Have you ever looked at your computer monitor and thought “I need this to be at least twice as large?” First of all, I fear what you are looking at that demands such high detail, but I respect it none the less. Here’s a pretty wild monitor deal if this is a relatable scenario: BuyDig is selling a whopping 43″ LG monitor for $647. That is bigger than my TV. The main draw here is its 4K, HDR 10 display, which will just show you everything you need to see. It’s also specifically built for multitasking with its customizable split screen settings, so it’s actually not a bad idea for folks who are working from home and need a lot of information in front of them at a time. It’s comically large, but not impractical.

But you can also plug in devices via the USB-A and USB-C ports.

It’s been an exciting, but confusing 24 hours for Final Fantasy fans. In last night’s State of Play, Sony revealed that Final Fantasy VII Remake is getting a PS5 upgrade called Intergrade, which features new content. Players can upgrade their PS4 copy for free, but will have to buy the new content separately. To make matters more confusing, Sony announced that the remake will be free on PS Plus in March, however it won’t be eligible for an upgrade. It’s all a big mess right now that’s leaving players confused.

If you want to get a version of Final Fantasy VII Remake that you actually can upgrade, you’ll still have to buy it outright. Luckily, Amazon has the game down to $30 right now. If you’re curious about playing Intergrade, your best bet is buying this now, waiting for Intergrade’s release, and then upgrading for free. Note that you’ll need a PS5 with a disc drive to make it happen. If you don’t care about the upgrade, just grab it on PS Plus for free starting on March 2 instead.

Looking to either fill your Xbox or PC gaming collection? Newegg is currently running a game sale that includes digital codes for Microsoft consoles and Windows 10. For example, you can get Borderlands 3 on Xbox for $18 after applying the promo code EMCESTE57. Windows users can grab Halo: The Master Chief Collection for $15 after using the code EMCESTE56. The best deal in the bunch is Ori and the Will of the Wisps, which is just $11 after the code EMCESTE56. That one will work on both Xbox consoles and Windows. This is the Dark Souls of board games. No, but seriously, it’s literally Dark Souls: The Board Game. This isn’t some cheeky cliché about a hard game. It truly is the Dark Souls of board games, because it is Dark Souls: The Board Game.

Another month is upon us, because February is frankly rude. March is coming, which means that Spring will be here. We’re still not going anywhere though, so it’s time to play more video games whether you want to or not. Luckily, Prime Gaming is here to help. This month, Amazon’s gaming service is offering a whole batch of goodies, including free games and bonus drops in titles like Apex Legends, Star Wars: Squadrons, Smite, and much more. Subscribers can also grab an MVP bundle in Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout right now that includes a new skin and three crowns.

Of course, the main attraction is always free games. Players can get five free games starting on March 1, headlined by the indie Metroidvania and cult hit Blasphemous. In addition to that highlight, players can add SkyDrift, Tengami, Boomerang Fu, and Bomber Crew Deluxe to their library. March is also your last chance to get over 20 classic SNK games including The King of Fighters 2000 and Metal Slug 2. If you haven’t claimed those yet, get on it.

There’s tons more drops where that came from, so those who are curious can grab a grab a 30-day Prime trial today and see what all the fuss is about. At the very least, it’s worth checking out so you can grab a whole bunch of free games at once while you test out the free trial.

Deep breaths, deep breaths. Yakuza: Like a Dragon is down to $24 on Xbox and $38 on PS4 at Amazon, which is a very low price considering it came out in November. When I bought the game, it was still full price, and the drops only started a few days after that. Isn’t that funny? I figured, “There’s no way it’ll get discounted this early.” And then it went down to $50! Great, I love that for everyone that is not me! Lo and behold, I’ve woken up today and here we are at $24. Extremely cool and I’m happy for everyone who had the foresight to wait a few months. Anyway, Like a Dragon is the latest in the Yakuza series, which just seems to get increasingly weirder as time goes on. The biggest change this time around is a pivot to turn-combat, a departure for the series. You can also do a bunch of wacky and mundane side-missions like can collecting and go karting and that’s really the selling point here, frankly.

You’re busy, you don’t have time to manually go around and power things on and off in your home— I get it. Besides, whatever it is you need to access, it’s just kind of far, right?

UPDATE: Well, it was fun while it lasted, but it looks like the folks at Icebreaker noticed us catching on to their deal. The prices on both color options for this item have shot up. The Water Blue one is now full price ($30) and the Pale Lemon is just $5 off ($25).

When it comes to ice, I have a couple of pet peeves. I’m not a fan of when the ice takes on the taste of whatever is in your freezer (or just that general not-so-fresh taste). I’m also really not into people sticking their hands into the ice cube container or pulling them out by hand from the tray— we’re in a pandemic ya’ll, this method has gotta go.

Thankfully, the ICEBREAKER POP allows you to make and dispense ice cubes without touching any of the cubes before they hit your drink. Even more thankfully, you can grab one in “Water Blue” or “Pale Lemon” for 33% off today.

Just fill up one of these currently $20 ICEBREAKER POP ice makers with water, close it, pop it in your freezer, then smoosh the middle of the maker after freezing to loosen the ice cubes and pop them directly from the maker into your glass if you’d like.

I’m going to grab one myself as soon as I can decide on a color. Jump on this deal and treat yourself to fresher ice.

Air frying is one of the latest hit kitchen trends, as these handy devices can crisp up your meats and veggies without the excessive grease and fat of traditional frying. Right now, Best Buy has a Bella Pro Series analog air fryer for just $18, marked down from $40. There’s a good chance that your house’s floors have seen a bit more gunk after nearly a year of quarantine. If your New Year’s resolution was to maintain a cleaner home, there’s still time to get on track. Start with purchasing a robot vacuum, specifically the iRobot Roomba i6+ while it’s on sale for a 31% discount in Amazon’s limited-time Gold Box sale. While it didn’t make the cut in our roundup of the best robot vacuums of 2021, its budget-friendly sibling—the Roomba i3+—did, and was featured in Gizmodo’s Coolest Gadgets of 2020 end-of-year buyer’s guide.

Unlike the i3+, the i6+ brings the same smart mapping functionality boasted by its higher-end counterparts, allowing the device to learn the layout of your home and schedule cleanings accordingly by room. This is the most affordable Roomba option for anyone buying a robot vacuum for its technological autonomy. It also features automatic dust disposal, dumping its findings into a bin connected to the charging station so you don’t have to empty it as often.

Because it’s compatible with both Google Assistant and Alexa, you can command the iRobot Roomba i6+ with your voice to tell it things like “vacuum immediately, minion!” to which it will respond by begrudgingly following orders and eliminating all the cat and dog hair from your house or apartment floors using a high-efficiency filter. In fact, you can add Amazon’s new Echo Dot smart speaker to your purchase for just $10 more right now. Double bargain!

It’s also compatible with the Braava Jet M6 which, when paired, mops your floors after the Roomba goes over it with a quick sweep. Never subject yourself to cleaning floors again, and instead focus on all the other horrors of life, or just sit down and play a darn video game because you deserve a break every now and then.

The added anxiety of, well, everything these past 12 months has done a number on my skin. I’ve learned that the best way to come back from stress-related skin woes is to nourish it with a dedicated skin routine full of clean ingredients.

If your skin is sensitive like mine, you’ll love Korean beauty brand Klair, which is cruelty-free and skips the unnecessary ingredients that irritate some, like artificial fragrances and harsh chemicals.

Any skincare routine worth its weight will include toner, and you really can’t go wrong with the classic Klairs Supple Preparation facial toner, just $19 when you clip the coupon. Toner comes after the cleansing step, which you can complete with the highly-rated Klairs Gentle Black Sugar charcoal soap. It’s not on sale, but it’s not a bad deal at $15 for a bar said to help with blemish-prone skin. I love this soap personally! And it lasts for a long time. Even the toner has lasted me about three months and still going.

If you need your skin to calm down (or just need to tone down redness), the Klairs Midnight Blue calming cream is a beauty favorite with a near cult-following! You can also get 10% off of this one when you clip the coupon below the price, bringing it down to just $20. Layer it over some Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating drops for just $26— not on sale right now but this stuff nourishes your skin and helps prevent fine lines and wrinkles, so it’s a good buy still.

We all know the coronavirus is still very much a threat. I’ve definitely gotten obnoxious comments trying to argue with me about that on past deals— and I’ll just stop you right now: Please don’t waste your time, because I don’t care enough to even respond. These days, it’s a good idea to layer masks, and these 3-ply masks seem perfect for going under a cloth mask. What’s more, you can get a 50-pack of these brightly-colored 3-ply masks for just $12 over at MorningSave right now. Pick from pink, purple, teal, orange, fuchsia, or yellow and mask up in your favorite shade!

I don’t know about you, but I hate touching any public surfaces— for obvious reasons, I hope. Unfortunately, it can’t be completely avoided at the grocery store or at the ATM, or while running other necessary errands.

These Steliron hygiene keys made of naturally antimicrobial brass can help you go touch-free as much as possible, and we found a fantastic price for them on SideDeal: Get two keys for just $10. They can pull many types of door handles open, and they also serve as a stylus so you don’t have to touch public keypads.

If you like what you see at SideDeal, grab a monthly membership for $5 to get unlimited shipping perks. This also gets you free shipping at other member sites like Meh and MorningSave. It’s well worth it!

Work out while running errands, walking the dog, and even doing chores around the house with today’s fitness deal: a ZELUS 20 lb. weighted vest.

You could also, you know, use it to add extra resistance to your workout like it’s intended. It even has a handy pocket for holding your phone or money for when you eventually stop for (hopefully takeaway— still a pandemic, ya’ll) coffee.

You can grab it for $45 when you apply promo code 68XIFTLQ at checkout.

If 20lbs. is too much for you, there are lighter options. Unfortunately, the promo code won’t work on them, just to save you some time from trying. If you can handle the twenty-pounder though, today’s your lucky day!

I’m so proud of you for still wearing a mask; it’s super cool of you. But do you need an upgrade or maybe something a little more heavy-duty? Or maybe you just want to put your mind at ease with something a smidge more protective? Grab 60 of the KN95 masks from SideDeal right now for just $29.

These are industry-standard, which means they are supposed to filter 95 percent of particles. That is just about as good as you can get. So the mask obviously doesn’t completely eliminate the risk of catching or spreading something, but if you wear it correctly, it still drastically reduces the likelihood of doing so. These are also great if you’ve got severe allergies or asthma and protect against pollen, dander, and whatnot. The KN-95 isn’t made for clinical environments (not that you’re performing surgery with these) but they will protect you and others in everyday environments against what is currently out there. Not all heroes wear capes, but they do wear masks. So, thank you for doing your part!

If you’ve read a few of our pieces on SideDeal before and you like what you’ve seen, they offer a $5 monthly fee to get free shipping on all of your orders, no matter how many. That membership also gets you free shipping at Meh, Mediocritee, and MorningSave. Otherwise, shipping is $8 per order.

We regularly feature deals on Naipo’s full-sized massage gun, which gets snapped up en masse and has glowing reviews from Amazon customers, but now here’s a more compact alternative: the Naipo Mini Massage Gun.

As the name suggests, it’s a smaller version of the handheld percussion massager that provides sweet relief to your sore muscles, no matter where you are. It’s around the size of a smartphone and weighs less than a pound, with four swappable heads for different kinds of sensations. According to Naipo, it provides power comparable to the full-sized model despite the small size, up to 3,000rpm.

Right now, you can save $40 off the list price by clipping the coupon on the page and using promo code F7QZLVCB at checkout. Why wait? Blast away that soreness!

This is one of those deals that’s really great but takes a bit of patience and finagling. Until March 6, take $3.50 off qualifying items with the code 939905. So I say this is difficult because so many brands are currently on sale or have pretty good discounts currently running. But after playing around, there are still quite a few items that this code will work with. You have to spend a minimum of $15. If you find something you love, grab it today because there’s free shipping with no minimum required.

A great option is Pixi’s Purifying Trio Kit. It looks like most Pixi products will vibe with the code. This trio is all about keeping your face as glowing as possible. 2020 part deux stress is rolling on and calling for a moment of self-care; a bath bomb can certainly help you take a pause. I’ve had a few of these from da Bomb, and this one is hands down my favorite. It fizzes like fluffy pink cotton candy, smells awesome, and leaves your skin silky smooth. Oh, and you get a prize once it fully dissolves. There are thirty-two bombs to pick from, so definitely something for everyone, even kids.

Animal Crossing’s makeup from ColourPop just landed recently at Ulta. There are still a few things left, like the 5 Star Island palette. This my favorite of the bunch and is my go-to from the original launch. It’s a 4-pan palette with rich hues of pink. You can actually use the semi-metallic yellow as a base and then blend a very vibrant peachy pink matte. You also get a uber sparkly and lush glitter pink and a hot pink matte sparkle too. There are a lot of girly and bold looks to be had here. Kind of an 80s aesthetic.

For those who haven’t seen the inside of a nail salon since last year, I have a solution for you—Baby Foot Exfoliating Foot Peel. Only $20 at Ulta, it’s about $5 off its original list price of $25. I know it seems like a nothing discount, but this beauty product rarely goes on sale, so if you want to save yourself a Lincoln, now is the best time to do so. I tested this product back in November and published a full-length review. Here’s a tiny excerpt:

I decided on Baby Foot. It’s a Japanese beauty product designed to slowly peel dead skin from your feet over the span of five to eight days. Sure, I’ve seen the videos of people’s experiences, but I honestly thought it wouldn’t be that dramatic, and right after, they would go back to being ashy as hell.

When you first open the package you’ll get two plastic booties filled with serum—specifically a blend of fruit acid extracts that include camomile, lemon, and grapefruit. The goal is to let these ingredients naturally break through barriers of dry, dead skin and exfoliate, which will, in time, peel layers upon layers to reveal soft-ass feet!

Grab it before it goes up in price!

At least until everyone is able to get the vaccine, life is pretty bleak right now. So I wouldn’t blame you for indulging in some much-need legal cannabis. Hell, I know I am. Whether you’re a first-time or a long-time consumer, Sunday Scaries’ Side Piece bundle is a great place to start. Starting at just $50 for a subscription, or $69 for a one-time purchase, using our exclusive promo code KINJA25, you can finally fetch the chill time you’ve been hankering for. Chill out on the couch with a good book, watch old episodes of The Simpsons on Disney+, or hell, try yoga for the first time—without the doom and gloom of the world weighing you down.

The Side Piece bundle comes with a bottle of the company’s signature CBD gummies and an oil tincture to sweeten the deal. Mix the latter into your coffee or tea, with a little whole milk or butter to help it dissolve. Sunday Scaries is the de-facto CBD brand in my opinion, and I’m sure a decent chunk of its 158,000 Instagram followers would be inclined to agree. Whereas many unsafe substances will make you feel groggy in the morning, CBD is more of a supplement than a vice, helping a lot of users mitigate their anxiety without killing their motivation to stay active.

I know I’ve had some distressing mental health episodes where cannabinoids came in clutch. Maybe it’s a placebo effect, or maybe there’s something to it. LDN CBD’s Aaron Horn seems to think so, courtesy of The Guardian:

CBD will change culture. People are less interested in drinking in bars getting really drunk, feeling like shit the next day, letting their body down, having issues with their body because of that. The shift is happening: more people are interested in eating healthier, living healthier, and this is part of that.

You’ve probably seen Homage tees on the internet or Instagram. They’re a small business in Ohio dedicated to capturing the nostalgia and love of pop culture moments, both current and past. Because they’re rad, we have a code from them for you to receive 30% off your next order. Just use KINJA30 at checkout.

Their collections are vast and references deep in both nerdom and sportsdom. For the jocks out there, Homage covers legends from yesteryear and legends in the making across various leagues. I’m partial to their Nickelodeon designs as I grew up in the era of SNICK. I’m looking at your Midnight Society. These make great gifts for yourself or someone else who loves geeky tv and movies from the 90s. There’s plenty to pick from, so I’m sure your favorite is in this collection.

I love a video game art book. Getting to see concept art from games I love in a big coffee table book is always a delight. Whether it’s character models, scenery, or general asset designs, I just find game art books somewhat soothing to flip through. The opposite is probably true for The Art of Doom Eternal, which is $24 on Amazon right now. I imagine this 192-page book is full of blood and demons, which kicks ass. I personally think it would be the funniest book you could leave out on your coffee table for friends to nose through. It will either make you look like an absolute badass or a total weirdo. That’s a gamble I’m personally willing to take.

In 2020, my New Year’s resolution was to only refer to the Joker as “The J-Man” whenever I talked about him. I figured it wouldn’t be that hard. How much does one talk about The Joker in a given year? Then the film Joker got nominated for 11 Oscars including Best Picture and my life was ruined for 12 months. It probably wasn’t the worst thing about 2020, but it was certainly a low point. Anyway, if you love The J-Man as much as I hate him, Comixology is currently holding a giant sale on digital comics featuring the iconic Batman villain. Naturally, that includes some of the most memorable (for better or worse) Batman comics out there like A Death in the Family and The Killing Joke. You can grab Batman: The Dark Knight Returns – 30th Anniversary Edition for $7 too, which is a highlight. It’s the Joker, baby! He’s twisted! He’s damaged! He’s an evil clown! People like him! Okay!

Whether you’re looking to make the jump from another platform, or just upgrade your aging gadget, now’s not a bad time to grab a new smartphone. Between Apple’s relatively-new iPhone 12 lineup and Samsung’s new Galaxy S21 lineup, there’s plenty of options to choose from.

If you’re eager to grab one of Samsung’s new phones, they’re all on sale over at Amazon this week. The Galaxy S21, which typically retails for $800 for the 128GB model, is $150 off. It features a 6.2″ display with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 and a 120Hz refresh rate. That’s a pretty good deal, but you can also get 256GB model for the same price, but there’s a bit of a delay in shipping.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S21+ is down from $1,000 to $800 for the 128GB model. That phone features a 6.7″ display and the same resolution and refresh rate as the S21. Both have 8GB of RAM as well as Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 888 processor and 5G radio support. On the back, both phones have a three-camera setup featuring a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 64-megapixel telephoto lens. As with the standard S21, the S21+’s 256GB model is down to the same price, $800, though there’s a longer delay in shipping there, as well.

On the higher end lies the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which is down from $1,200 to $1,000 for the 128GB model. For your money, you’ll get a 6.8″ 3,200 x 1,440 OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, and a 5,000mAh battery. The Ultra packs four lenses into its camera module, including a 108-megapixel lens, two 10-megapixel telephoto lenses (with 3x and 10x zooms), and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens.

Thanks to quarantine, lots of us have picked up new hobbies. For me, it’s been leaning into my doodling, catching up on my game queue, and honing my green thumb. For others, it’s been photography. A decent smartphone will do the trick, but when you’re ready to step things up, you’ll want a good mirrorless camera.

The Sony a7 III, ranked tops overall in our roundup of the best digital cameras, is $300 off today at Amazon. At $1,698 even with that discount, you’re paying a hefty price, but for your money you’re getting a 24.2MP sensor, impressive autofocus, reliable battery life, and a wide array of attachable lenses to suit whatever your needs may be.

If you’re running out of space on your Nintendo Switch or have another microSD-supporting device that’s increasingly tight on storage, here’s a bargain for you. Right now, Amazon is offering this meaty 400GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC memory card for a mere $45.

That’s a huge chunk of storage for a smartphone, camera, or Switch, and is a few bucks lower than this card has been hovering at lately. Not bad for a card that launched at $250 a couple years back!

All three extremely efficient Covid vaccines urge individuals to take an obtainable shot

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute for Allergies and Infectious Diseases, speaks during a press conference at the White House in the James Brady Press Briefing Room of the White House on January 21, 2021 in Washington, DC.

The Chief Medical Officer of the White House, Dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday he would be taking the newly approved Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine and urged Americans to take the available shot if they are eligible.

The Food and Drug Administration on Saturday approved J & J’s vaccine, giving the US a third tool to fight the pandemic after vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer. The company expects to ship 20 million cans by the end of March.

“All three of them are really pretty good, and people should go for the one that is best available to them,” Fauci said on NBC’s Meet the Press.

“If you go to a place and have J&J, and that’s the one that’s available now, I’d take it,” Fauci said. “Personally, I would do the same. I think people need to be vaccinated as soon and as quickly as possible.”

The J&J vaccine is different from the others in that it is a single dose and patients do not have to return for a second dose. It can be stored at refrigerator temperature for months. The shot has shown an overall effectiveness of 66%, 72% in the USA and 57% in South Africa, where variant B.1.351 has spread rapidly.

Although the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines showed higher efficacy rates in two-dose studies compared to J & J’s single-dose vaccine, Fauci insisted that the J&J shot isn’t a weaker vaccine, and the trial data shouldn’t be for the three Shots are compared as they were tested at different times.

“You must now have three highly effective vaccines,” said Fauci. “There is no doubt about that.”

As the country sees a decline in new coronavirus cases and an improvement in vaccination rates, Fauci warned states to relax restrictions on pandemics prematurely, which could lead to a renewed spike in infections.

Cases have dropped from 300,000 a day to around 70,000, a baseline that’s still too high, Fauci said.

“We don’t want to keep preventing people from doing what they want. But let’s get to a good level,” Fauci told CBS ‘Face the Nation. “Let’s vaccinate a lot more people. And then you could withdraw these kinds of public health measures.”

“But right now that we are going under and reaching a plateau, it is not time to declare victory because we are not yet victorious,” he said.
