If you have an occasional interest in sneakers, you’ve probably seen one of Jacques Slade’s videos on your YouTube recommendations. You might even be a fan of his already – after all, Slade is one of the most popular personalities on sneaker YouTube or even sneaker media in general.
Is it because how long he’s been in the game? His access to exclusive drops before other media personalities have them? If you ask me, Jacques is at the top of the game and staying there simply because he cuts off a nice guy. He doesn’t talk about sneakers in a language wrapped in hypebeast terminology or attitude. Rather, he has an infectiously nerdy charisma, his passion for the sneaker game (and sometimes for technology, video games and films) shines through in every video he publishes. The guy doesn’t just tell you a shoe is cool – he tells you what’s cool about how their technology works and why you are should Care, but never seems to put pressure on viewers to share their opinions.
I had the opportunity to meet Jacques over the holidays and found it refreshing. His answers were often as unconventional as one would expect, and provided great insights for both novice and long-time collectors alike.
