The original Disney vacation spot reopens to the world. Unlike Disney World that reopened in July 2020 Just months after the lockdowns began last year, Disneyland has taken a slower approach and is reopening later this month with things like tiered ticketing and capacity constraints. Which parts of the park are open?
Disneyland is taking it relatively slowly, and for good reason: California was hit hard during the pandemic after being one of the countries first states to report cases in the United States, including reported patients with the COVID variants. However, with the introduction of vaccines, the state is slowly re-opening recreational activities, including large parks.
On April 30th, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park will open conditionally to California residents. The state allows theme parks to reopen 15% to 35% capacityand Disneyland opts for an opening with a capacity of 15%.
Currently, tickets are only sold to California residents and for groups no larger than three households (presumably) three people per household). If you’ve already had tickets, you can reserve a seat online, but only if you’re initially based in California.

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will reopen on April 29th, but the Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel will reopen stay closed for the time being.
What are the park’s COVID precautions?
Everyone must wear masks at all times, park staff conduct temperature checks for all guests, and cashless payment is strongly recommended at all payment points, including parking. Disneyland is adding physical barriers to the floor markings we’re all used to by now to encourage social distancing.
Disneyland does not offer Disney FASTPASS or MaxPasses hoping to get a safer structure for guests in line. They also closed several attractions that attract the public, such as the Magic Morning and Extra Magic Hour:
In addition, select attractions and certain experiences that attract large group gatherings, such as parades and nighttime spectacles, will return at a later date. The dining options have changed: orders are being made contactless (So don’t plan on using cash) and all meals must be ordered in advance to be picked up at a restaurant. What is this tiered ticket system?
