Katherine Schwarzenegger learned from experience that she values children who have their privacy until they choose otherwise.
The 31-year-old author was a guest on the Today Show Tuesday, March 30th, sharing Hoda Kotb that she and her husband Chris Pratt I have no plans to show your 7 month old daughter Lylasoon the face of the world. As Katherine explained, that decision was influenced in part by her own experience of growing up with a famous group of parents – in her case Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver.
“Obviously I didn’t grow up on social media at all, so it’s a little different just because I feel like we share so much in today’s world,” explained the new mom. “But I think one of the greatest gifts my parents have ever given me and my siblings is the gift of privacy and a really normal upbringing or an upbringing that is as normal as possible.”
She continued, “We had a really normal and magical childhood, and we were allowed to be our own people and have our own identities in some way, and choose to go into any form of publicity we wanted when we were comfortable. It was such an incredible gift to have given us children. “
