The internet archive is a repository for all kinds of things. While you probably know for the always useful ones Wayback machine, it’s also great for public domain movies, independent media, TV shows and newsreels, and other media that you can watch for free – and use and remix it yourself if you want.

There are many films – organized by categories such as science fiction, horror or film noir – alongside art films, instructional videos and films, special collections made available to the Internet archives for posterity, documentaries and even collections of stock footage. It’s not the easiest searchable archive, nor is it organized for mobile screens, but it is certainly a treasure trove of interesting material.
