After the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, AirPods Pro have joined the Apple devices that are receiving beta updates. Apple is now releasing regular beta updates for AirPods Pro which can be installed by anyone using an Apple developer account.
This beta gives you access to upcoming features before they are generally released. The first AirPods Pro beta lets you test the ambient noise reduction mode and Spatial audio Features for FaceTime calls.
To install this beta, you’ll need to be running iOS 15 Developer Beta 3 or higher along with Xcode 13 Beta 3 on your Mac. Before you begin, it’s important to note that there is no way to downgrade the firmware on the AirPods Pro if something goes wrong. You will have to wait for an update to be released to fix any errors.
How to Install AirPods Pro Beta Profile on iPhone
While the overall process of activating the AirPods Pro beta is quite different, the process of installing the beta profile is known if you’ve already installed that iOS 15 developer beta.

- Go to the Downloads section on your iPhone Apple’s developer site.
- After signing in, tap the Drop-down list next to the Downloads section and selectMore” Opportunity.
- Find the AirPods Pro Beta section and tapView Details“Button.
- Select the “iOSAirPodsProSeed.mobileconfig”Profile and tap on“Allow“To install it.
- Open the “settings”App, tap“Profile downloaded“Option from above and select the”To install“To install the profile on your device. Enter your device passcode to authenticate.
- Tap “To install“Again, and then tap on”Completed“, to complete the process.
Enable AirPros Pro beta updates using Xcode
The AirPods Pro beta profile is now installed on your iPhone, but the process of actually installing the beta update is different from other developer betas for iOS and iPadOS.
This is about using Xcode on your Mac, but only for authentication. Before you begin, make sure you have the latest Xcode beta (Xcode 13 Beta 3).
- First connect your AirPods to your iPhone, and then your iPhone to your Mac.
- Launch the Xcode beta app on your Mac. (You don’t have to do anything else. All you have to do is open it.)
- On your iPhone, open the “settings“App and go to the”developer“Section.
- Scroll to the very bottom of the page and select “Beta firmware before release” Opportunity.
- You can find your paired AirPods Pro at the top. Tap the switch next to it to enable the beta software updates for the AirPods Pro. Tap the “Agree“To agree to Apple’s Terms and Conditions, and you’re good to go.
To trigger the update, charge your AirPods Pro to 100%, connect it to your iPhone, and close the hinge on the carrying case.
To find out if your firmware has actually been updated, go to settings >Bluetooth, tap the “I“Next to your AirPods Pro and check the firmware number.
How to remove the beta firmware from AirPods Pro
Although you cannot undo firmware updates, you can exit the beta channel and wait for stable updates.
Open the “settings”App and go to Generally > Profile and device management > AirPods Pro firmware profile. Here tap on “Remove profile“To remove the AirPods Pro beta profile from your device.
