CHICAGO – Church leaders in the St. Sabina Catholic Ward have put additional pressure on the Archdiocese of Chicago to complete Rev. Michael Pfleger’s investigation.

Church leaders announced that starting Monday they would suspend the evaluation of the church and school that the archdiocese would pay each month.

The announcement made during Sunday mass in the Catholic parish of St. Sabina was greeted with standing ovations by the parish.

The prominent Chicago religious leader and social justice activist was charged with sexually abusing two minors, ages 12 and 13, more than 40 years ago.

Reverend Pfleger emphatically denied the allegations.

The Child and Family Services Division concluded that the charge was “unfounded”.
