A new Google Play Store interface is now being introduced for all Android users. It looks mostly the same as before, but rearranges the store layout and streamlines the menus so that you can find your way around the app differently. Here is a brief overview of the new design of the Google Play Store app. It is indicated where the different areas are now.

A new navigation menu

The first thing you will notice is the new search bar and profile menu. Your Google Account profile will still appear in the top right, but the hamburger menu that used to appear next to the search bar no longer exists. Instead, now tap your profile icon to open a new menu overlay.

At the top of this menu is your Google account information. Tap the down arrow to switch to, add, or manage the other accounts on your device. This is also where notifications appear when you open the Play Store.

G / O Media can receive a commission

Further down in the new menu window are links to other sections, including:

  • My apps & games
  • Library
  • Payments & Subscriptions:
  • Pay Protect
  • Notifications & Offers
  • Play pass
  • Play points
  • the settings
  • Help & feedback

Almost all of these pages look the same as before, with a few exceptions – including the new Library menu, which has a link to your Play Store wishlist and shortcuts to view your video purchases in the Google TV app and can store your e-books in Play Books (note that this library menu is different from the Library section in the library “My apps and games” Tab that lists all of your Play Store purchases).

Revised settings menu

The other changes can be found in the Settings menu, which has been divided into four separate sections with different submenus:

  • General: Includes account settings, notification settings, download settings, dark / light mode themes, and other app-related options.
  • User controls: Options to customize purchase authentication requirements and automatically install apps after purchase.
  • Family: Parental Controls, Parents Guide Information, and Family Group Management.
  • Over: View the app version, Play Protect certification status, and other license information

The four sections are collapsed by default. Tap the header to view all settings and information.

Surfing and buying are still the same

The navigation in the Play Store itself is largely the same as before: You can use the tabs at the bottom of the screen to choose between games, apps, films and TV and books, or switch between categories such as recommendations and top charts, new releases and more under the search bar, with which you can find specific products using keywords.

The new Google Play redesign is part of the latest app update and should show up after installing the new version. If it doesn’t, long press the Play Store app icon on your home screen and tap “I” Icon, then choose “Force Stop.” Restart the app and you should be in the new digs of the Play Store.
