Can you join AARP at any age?
It’s a question younger people probably never thought they’d ask. Now, with a new viral TikTok, it’s clear to them how many discounts they could get if they join “early”.

This is all thanks to TikTok-famous travel expert Zachary Abel (@zacharyburrabel). In a recent clip, Abel shared how he joined AARP in his 30s and has since saved thousands of dollars on flights and hotels.
It’s just the latest travel hack that goes viral on TikTok. Recently, users have also shared their tips on avoiding “gross” drinks on board, booking five-star hotels, and bringing “extra” hand luggage on the plane.
Abel, who recently spoke to In The Know about his biggest tips for saving money during the post-quarantine travel boom, has shared many tips of his own in the past. However, this really seemed to find a response.
“I wish they had taught me that you don’t have to be over 50 to join AARP,” Abel says in his video. “Say what? I know! I would have saved so much money.”
AARP describes itself as a nonprofit “committed to empowering Americans 50 and older”. As Abel explains, however, you can join AARP at any age – and save a lot of money in the process.
Abel says he became a member at the age of 34. Since then, he’s been using his member information to get discounts on flights, hotels, rental cars, and more. In his clip, which now has more than 6 million views, he shares some of the greatest opportunities he saved.

For one, Abel points out that British Airways is offering between $ 65 and $ 200 off flights for AARP members. In addition, there are several large restaurant chains that offer discounts of up to 25% – including the now TikTok-famous Rainforest Cafe.
TikTok users were overwhelmed with the advice, and many claimed they were in a hurry to sign up.
