Ted Lassos Toheeb Jimoh believes in faith – and that his character Sam is the perfect admirer for Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham).
The August 27 episode left fans stunned after it was revealed that Sam was the nameless, faceless gentleman Rebecca spoke to on the dating app Bantr. And like Jimoh in an exclusive chat with E! News, he too was surprised by the romantic plot.
“I was very excited,” he said as he learned his second season arc. “But, to be honest, I hadn’t really gotten all of Sam and Rebecca’s chemistry stuff since season one.”
Although Jimoh assumed that Sam and Rebecca would always be platonic friends, he was pleasantly surprised by this pivot point. “I was excited for Sam, but also so excited for myself because I thought I could just do more scenes with Hannah, which is great,” he continued. “I also knew that this would send Ted Lasso fans into a spiral.”
