TIMO WERNER seems to have had problems at Stamford Bridge since arriving with a £ 48 million deal from RB Leipzig.

Notably, however, the Chelsea forward has been directly involved in 19 goals in all competitions this season – more than any other player at the club.

Werner has scored 10 goals and provided his teammates with nine assists – three more than any other blues star.

The German international helped Hakim Ziyech’s breakthrough against Manchester City on Saturday after darting a dart run and firing a cross to find the Moroccan who could tap an empty net.

And since former PSG coach Thomas Tuchel arrived in West London, Werner has seen an upturn.

Initially, many referred to Werner as a flop after a few blatant misses became the norm for the gun-shy striker.

Things didn’t go any better even for Germany – when he was ridiculed for missing a sitter in a 2-1 defeat against North Macedonia.

Last week there were even calls to take Werner out of the line of fire and to drop von Tuchel from the expert Clinton Morrison.

He told BBC 5 Live: “Chelsea have other attack options – it just depends on how long Tuchel wants to stay with Timo Werner.

“Look, Werner isn’t a bad player. You won’t become a bad player overnight.

“It’s right now, he’s in positions and not clinical.

“Maybe he needs some time to get off the team and he can make an impression when he gets off the bench.”

Back in March, Werner faced his manager’s anger against Everton when Tuchel was overheard that he had been out of position for 15 minutes.

Despite the criticism that Werner brought in, he stood by his compatriot, and that seems to be rightly so.
