CHELSEA has reportedly joined a number of European rivals in pursuit of young Gabriel Menino’s signing.

Brazilian club Palmeiras are poised to take advantage of their 20-year-old midfielder to alleviate the financial troubles caused by the pandemic.

Menino has been playing in South America beyond his years and his performances will set off a transfer scramble.

Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Tottenham are all ready to join Chelsea as they battle for his signature.

Menino has a £ 51m release clause on his deal but Mundo Deportivo write that Palmeiras would find an offer of around £ 13m too difficult to refuse.

Although that number could increase if interested parties start a bidding war.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel receives money to put his own stamp on the squad in the summer, especially if it lands in the Champions League.

Dubbed the “Brazilian Yaya Toure” by Team Talk, Menino was recognized for his box-to-box displays this season.

Despite his age, he was a key figure in Palmeiras’ season, playing 27 league games.

He can also play right-back and Chelsea is a fan of his versatility.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho wants to energize his midfield and sees Menino as the perfect match.

Brazilian compatriot Lucas Moura may be able to convince Menino to join the club in north London against their league rivals.

But the lure of playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus may prove too difficult for the youngster to turn down.
