We checked the website on a weekday morning and found that the area was busy. There have been many construction sites in the area with many other BTOs and developments around McNair Heights still under construction.
These developments include the Kallang Polyclinic (which is slated to open in 2023) in the south-east of the site and the 1953 condominium shop (which is also slated to be completed by the end of 2023). With the BTO expected to be completed in 2026, the area should feel more populated after the residents move into McNair Heights.
In terms of amenities, the closest mall is City Square Mall and the closest hawker centers are in foodie paradise Whampoa Drive Makan Place and Bendemeer Market & Food Center. All are within walking distance.
For something closer to home there is a small café and mini market at Blk 122 (directly across from McNair Road).
Alternatively, a supermarket, restaurant, and other retail stores can be found at BTO Towner Crest on Serangoon Road, adjacent to Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital. The completion of this BTO is planned for the third quarter of 2023.
Public transport is easily accessible. Buses run along Balestier Road and McNair Road. Boon Keng MRT Station (on the northeast line) is a short walk away. Once on board, it is only a few stops from the city center.
Further considerations:
- Avoid stacks (84, 86, 66, 68) that are near or facing the busy Balestier Road where you are likely to be exposed to heavy traffic and noise.
- Stacks facing areas where people gather like the gazebo (number 4 on the map), fitness nooks, and playgrounds are also less quiet, especially if you choose a unit on the lower floors. If possible, choose a higher floor on these stacks.
- Our recommendation if you decide on a 2-room apartment: Stack 78 (While this stack does not have a clear view, the next building is some distance away)
- Our recommendation if you are going for a 3-bedroom apartment: Stack 62 (This stack does not face the street or areas with high human activity and has no afternoon sun. The next building in the future residential area will probably also be in some Distance.)
- Our recommendation if you opt for a 4-room apartment: Stack 50 (away from the streets, not facing the playground and no hot afternoon sun. There may be an unobstructed view.)
