On Tuesday March 9th, Piers, a former British tabloid editor and co-judge of America’s Got Talent, left the ITV show. His departure followed a backlash to his dismissive comments on the Duchess of Sussex, which he has often criticized, and the shocking revelations she made while Prince Harry‘s most recent tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, including about her own mental health prior to the couple’s royal exit in 2020.
“Piers’ departure was not the conclusion I was hoping for,” said Good Morning Britain, co-host and ITV weatherman Alex Beresford tweeted on Thursday March 11th. “For the past few years, Piers and I have had a lively, cheeky relationship on the air. We both wanted to be on the show Tuesday morning, and from our very public conversations on Twitter we both knew how strong our opinions were about treating ourselves Harry and Meghan distinguished before and after the interview that divided the world. “
