In the year since the split, Kelly has been very open about her nasty divorce fight and how tough it has been for her and the two children she shares with her ex Brandon.
A source told Us Weekly that it resulted in loss of trust in their relationship in the end.
The insider said, “She couldn’t trust Brandon anymore and felt that Brandon was only using her for her money and lifestyle.
“She had enormous resentment against him. She just didn’t want to look away anymore. “
As they proceeded with their divorce, a judge ruled that she must pay Brandon $ 150,000 a month in spousal support, along with about $ 45,000 a month in child support.
But her ex will be the one paying to run her sprawling Montana ranch, which costs around $ 81,000 a month to run.
Kelly, who previously petitioned the court to allow him to claim spousal support, has an impressive monthly income of more than $ 1.5 million, while her ex makes about $ 10,000 a month.
New court documents from The Sun reveal that Brandon has given up showbiz life since their split.
He’s now a full-time rancher, though he still represents county singer Blake Shelton.
According to the new source, Kelly was struggling with a lot of “pain” due to her marriage and eventually decided she needed to get out of it.
The insider continued, “The marriage ended up being really, really terrible. She had a lot of questions that he just couldn’t answer.
“She never has and will never look back. Kelly doesn’t regret filing for divorce.
“She only lasted as long as she did for her children.”
Previously, a source had told the outlet that “their relationship has been on its feet for a long time” and that Brandon was “extremely jealous” of his wife’s success.
The insider added, “Kelly doesn’t embrace her success, she shares it with the team she works with. It’s just who she is.”
She can now “finally enjoy her success without being ashamed,” the source continues.
