Apple is hosting its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) again next week. Like last year, WWDC 2021 is only online due to the ongoing pandemic, but you can still expect the tech supergiant to make some big announcements, including our first good look at iOS 15, macOS 12, and – in case the rumors get loud believe – possibly even some new equipment.

Read on to learn more about where and how to watch Apple’s WWDC keynote live and what to expect.

When is WWDC 2021?

WWDC 2021 runs Monday June 7th through Friday June 11th June.

There will certainly be a lot of news as the week progresses, but the biggest announcements will likely come in time Apple’s keynote presentation on Monday at 1 p.m. ET.

This is how you see WWDC 2021

Apple has already launched a placeholder livestream on YouTube that allows you to set up a reminder so you know exactly when the presentation starts and can turn it on in time – just click the Set Reminder option in the video player controls. If the presentation starts on Monday, you will receive a notification from the YouTube app on your phone (or a push notification from your browser) when the stream goes live on Monday.

If you don’t want to watch it on YouTube, Apple’s keynote for WWDC 2021 will also be on the Apple website in the “Events” section and via the Apple TV app on all supported devices – although the presentation itself is identical everywhere.

Don’t worry if you miss the live event as it will be archived and will be available on Apple’s website and YouTube channel after broadcast – as will any other presentations and announcement clips that will be released later in the week were.

What to expect from WWDC 2021

Annual keynote presentations like WWDC are always mysterious, even when we’re pretty sure what to expect.

Since WWDC is Apple’s software showcase, we will certainly take a look at the upcoming iOS 15 and its iPad OS counterpart. On the flip side, we’re not going to hear much (if at all) about new iPhones or iPad models – these announcements usually come at Apple’s annual hardware event in September.

However, Apple will likely devote a significant portion of its airtime to new devices on Monday, since It is speculated that we’ll take a look at new MacBooks and Mac PCs with Apple Silicon processors– but we won’t know for sure until these announcements are made.

The same goes for Apple’s other operating systems, including watchOS and tvOS – we’ll likely see the next iteration of both at WWDC, but new hardware announcements are less likely (but not ruled out). That said, when we’re this close to WWDC (or any other Apple event), it’s always wise to wait before buying new Apple devices, just in case the company surprises us by revealing something new.

Whatever is on the list, we’ll know by the end of the day on Monday. So use the links above to set reminders for Apple’s WWDC 2021 keynote.

Go to Halsey’s intimate child bathe

Halsey celebrates the imminent arrival of their first child.

On June 1, the 26-year-old singer took to Instagram Stories to share a series of snaps from her baby shower. The theme of the event appeared to be based on the 1963 children’s book “Where the Wild Things Are”. Halsey posted a picture of the book along with several Polaroid prints from the gathering. In addition, the guests posed for photos with props from the story.

The party took place outside among palm trees and attendees decorated bibs for Halsey and the screenwriter Alev Aydinis the little one.

Halsey announced her pregnancy in January by posting a series of photos of her baby bump and writing “Surprise”. And it looks like the parents-to-be who sparked romance rumors in January can’t wait to meet their new family member.

“Heart so full, I love you, sweetheart,” Alev wrote in the comment section of Halsey’s pregnancy announcement post, to which the “Without you” star replied: “I love you !!!!!! And I already love this mini human. “

Biden will redouble US efforts to vaccinate extra Individuals by July 4th

President Joe Biden plans on Wednesday to redouble his administration’s efforts to get more Americans vaccinated against Covid-19 by July 4th

In early May, Biden announced his government’s new goals in the fight against the coronavirus: 70% of adults in the US should receive at least one dose of a Covid vaccine and 160 million adults should be fully vaccinated by Independence Day.

On Wednesday from the White House, Biden will announce June as “National Action Month” to vaccinate more Americans by July 4th, a White House official told NBC News.

The president will also outline a “pan-American approach” for his vaccine campaign that will mobilize national organizations, community-based and religious partners, celebrities, athletes and other influential groups, the official said.

“The announced steps will make it even easier to get vaccinated, mobilize the country for vaccines and awareness-raising, and incentivize vaccinations,” the official told NBC News.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 162 million U.S. adults, or 62.8% of people aged 18 and over, had received at least one Covid vaccine as of Tuesday. More than 133 million adults in the United States are fully vaccinated, according to the CDC.

In the United States, an average of 1.2 million Covid vaccinations were given a day in the past week. However, some data on the long holiday weekend are incomplete, so vaccination rates may be higher.

Public health experts say Biden’s vaccination goal could pose a challenge to his government as the US has already vaccinated those who are most enthusiastic about a vaccine.

Kevin Hensley, in coordination with the Cook County Health Dept. and the Chicago White Sox gave the J&J COVID vaccine. Recipients received a $ 25 card in Chicago, Illinois on May 29, 2021 for discounts on concessions in front of Game One from a double header in the Guaranteed Rate Field.

In order to give millions more vaccinations over the next four weeks, the White House has announced that the president will take additional steps to encourage and make it easier for more people to vaccinate.

Biden said it was “as easy as always” to get a Covid vaccine as many vaccination centers in the US offer walk-ins.

The Biden administration launched a massive campaign in April to convince more Americans to take the vaccines. It does this through social media and virtual events where celebrities and athletes answer Americans’ lingering questions about vaccines.

The CDC has updated its public health guidelines to say that fully vaccinated people will no longer need to wear a face mask or stay 6 feet away in most environments, whether outdoors or indoors. Many public health experts say the change was aimed at getting more people to get vaccinated.

Easy methods to acknowledge the indicators of father’s postpartum melancholy

“I’m tired of feeling worthless,” I said, my head in my hands, holding back tears. I had been in bed all day following a panic attack at work the day before. Besides feeling paralyzed by the sadness that permeated my life, my body was too sore to move.

I couldn’t understand why this was happening. Months ago our second son was born happy and healthy. But I felt overwhelmed. The job I did for over a decade was no longer safe and I tried to get my freelance career off the ground.

Society taught me that fatherhood would be a joyful time and I should take pride in bringing a new life to the world. But since becoming a father, I have felt anxious, depressed and struggled with overwhelming anxiety attacks. I ran my fifth marathon a few months before I accepted the title of father. Now I had gained all the weight I had lost training for it – and more. I carried a lot of guilt for feeling this way, and my mind occasionally drifted into dangerous territory.

I realize that I’m not the only parents who have experienced this mix of emotions. Thanks to increased research and celebrities like Reese Witherspoon and Chrissy Teigen sharing their experiences, postpartum depression is better known in women. However, as men have increasingly assumed the role of caregivers, paternal postpartum depression (or paternal PPD) has only recently become more prominent.

What is Father’s Postpartum Depression?

According to some studies, nearly 10 percent of new fathers experience depressive behavior after having a child. And often these men are afraid to speak up because they don’t want to look weak or add something to the plate of their already exhausted and emotional partner.

G / O Media can receive a commission

“It is difficult for men to recognize the symptoms of depression,” says Dr. Scott Bea, psychologist at the Cleveland Clinic. “You can start in the first trimester because things are already changing.”

It’s not just the shifts in sleep patterns and relationship dynamics that can cause symptoms of paternal PPD. Bea says other underlying problems – marital problems, financial pressures, a history of depression, or a partner who has postpartum depression or had a difficult pregnancy – can make symptoms worse.

I experienced some of the challenges Bea mentioned. But he also believes that these sudden mood swings could also be biological in some men. I was frustrated that I had no connection with my son, and I’m not alone: men often feel intellectually, but not emotionally, connected to their newborn, at least initially, and the bond may form more slowly over time. And there are hormonal changes also happens in the father’s body.

“There is a decrease in testosterone, which can play a role in depression in men,” he says. “Other hormones like estrogen and prolactin, which are more common in women but are found in men, are increasing. Cortisol, a stress hormone, escalates. “

When the stressors increase, it is common for men to hide their feelings instead of seeking help. This behavior can lead to reckless behavior such as alcohol and drug abuse, gambling, or out-of-partner relationships. And there is research that shows Depressed fathers are more likely to withdraw from their children or become more critical of them.

“When individuals fail to manage their emotions, it can affect the child’s situation,” says Bea. “If we as parents are unresponsive, active and energetic, the child will be programmed and they will not be able to fight it off.”

Although men are sad, irritable, excited, worthless, or guilty, they often do not want to burden their boyfriend or partner, even though their behavior can harm their family. And when men talk about what they are experiencing, they are often told to “stop whining” and “get up,” which means that they are selfish about their feelings. This may be because many are unaware that there is a paternal PPD and it has recently received attention in medical and psychological circles. Bea himself remembers how overwhelmed he was when he became a father.

“I remember getting stressed and not knowing what to do,” he says. “When I had children there was no mention of postpartum depression in men.”

How do you recognize and treat father’s postpartum depression

In addition to talking to a professional, there are also ways fathers can identify and treat symptoms of paternal PPD. Despite the tiredness and lack of sleep most new parents experience after giving birth, Bea recommends making a schedule and making time for activity. He also suggests learning to recognize the signs and symptoms of paternal PPD and talking to other fathers to foster connection and camaraderie.

And if you’re someone who recognizes symptoms of paternal PPD in your partner, Bea recommends speaking to them gently so they don’t feel confronted or attacked.

“People generally don’t like unsolicited advice, and I think if you can ask for permission they won’t feel assaulted and can monitor their response to it and see if that view is shared,” he says. “It can damage the partnership if it is not addressed properly.”

Men whose partners show symptoms of postpartum depression are at increased risk themselves. According to Bea, it can be beneficial for both parents to see an expert for an assessment.

I remember being stressed out and not knowing what to do. When I had children there was no mention of postpartum depression in men.

And if a father thinks he has paternal PPD, it’s normal to be afraid to seek help – but fathers shouldn’t be ashamed to speak to a professional.

“For us it is scary to see a professional, but when you are there it can feel like the safest place you have ever been,” says Bea. “Therapists try to create an environment of absolute safety.”

A few weeks after I received treatment and regained my running shoes, my family noticed that I was going back to my old self. The panic attacks I had were next to nonexistent and I was a little more confident as a father. Now I have a stronger connection with my boys and I enjoy being with my family.

eight easy-care, pet-safe houseplants that anybody can develop

0

Christmas cacti (Schlumbergera bridgessii) are classic, low-stress houseplants. They require very little maintenance and once a year your (minimal) efforts are rewarded with an outbreak of beautiful electric fuchsia flowers. You are too easy to multiplyso you can even give away cuttings.

These plants will survive well in low light, however According to GardeningKnowHow.com, they bloom better when exposed to light. You should also water your Christmas cactus regularly to keep the soil slightly moist. (If you’re a chronic overwaterer this might be the plant for you.) Finally, think about the temperature and humidity in your home. GardeningKnowHow.com recommends the following:

When caring for the Christmas cactus, remember that it prefers temperatures between 15 and 21 ° C with average to high humidity. Putting a water-filled tray of pebbles under the Christmas cactus container is a great way to add moisture to the home.

If you are a pet owner looking for low maintenance plants that won’t poison your pets, each of these plants should offer some versatile options. They’re pretty common too, so you shouldn’t have any problem finding them at your local garden center. Better still, if a friend or family member already has a flowering plant you like, ask about cuttings and propagate them yourself – it’s free and easy.

This story was originally published in April 2016 and updated on October 3, 2019 to add additional information, and again on June 1, 2021 by AA Newton to reflect Lifehacker’s current style guidelines to add two new plant recommendations and updated links.

The $ 20 billion jet dilemma that Boeing CEO Cash Information is dealing with

0

Dave Calhoun, CEO of Boeing Co., faces a multi-billion dollar dilemma on how to rebuild sales in its core aircraft business that has sparked an internal debate and jeopardized the future of the largest U.S. exporter, industry insiders say.

Boeing suffers from a security scandal following the crash of its 737 MAX plane and an air traffic collapse caused by the pandemic. These crises have overshadowed a deeper, longer-term risk to the company’s commercial passenger aircraft business.

Boeing’s share of the single-aisle jetliner market, in which it competes in a global duopoly with Airbus, has fallen from around 50 percent a decade ago to around 35 percent after the lengthy grounding of the 737 MAX, according to Agency Partners and other analysts .

Airbus’ single-aisle A321neo has won billions of dollars in business in a recently booming market segment as the largest MAX variants struggled to block it.

Without a perfectly matched addition to its portfolio, analysts warn that America risks ceding a large portion of that market to Europe – valued by aircraft manufacturers at around $ 3.5 trillion ($ 4.6 trillion over 20 years) .

Boeing is not yet ready to agree on a plan to develop a new aircraft against the A321neo, however, and two leading options – press ahead now or wait until later – come with financial and strategic risks, said several people speaking over the discussions were informed.

“I am confident that we will be getting back to where we need to be over a longer period of time and I am confident of the product line,” Calhoun said in April when Boeing won new MAX orders.

When asked about the company’s discussions and options over a potential new aircraft, a Boeing spokesman said there was no immediate comment beyond Calhoun’s remarks to investors.

Options

A weakened Boeing has little room for error, especially as it addresses industrial problems that hinder other commercial aircraft.

Boeing’s first option is to strike relatively quickly and launch a 5,000-mile single-aisle jet with about 10 percent more fuel efficiency by about 2029. This could possibly be introduced for orders in 2023.

“There is no better way to improve your image than simply investing in the future now,” said Richard Aboulafia, analyst for the Teal Group.

A new single-aisle jet would replace the discontinued 757 and fill a void between the MAX and the larger 787, confirming a twist on earlier mid-market plans, Reuters reported last April. The idea faded into the background at the beginning of the pandemic before attracting attention again.

It would also be an anchor for an eventual replacement of the 737 family without conceding a goal.

An alternative is to wait for the next leap in engine technology, which is not expected until the early 2030s. These could be open rotor engines with visible blades that use a mix of traditional turbines and electric propulsion.

Boeing shies away from letting short-term product decisions drive strategy and also prioritizes deeper entry into investments or business changes necessary to recapture the # 1, analysts say.

Timing dilemma

Both approaches involve risks. If things go too fast, Boeing could be faced with a relatively easy return move.

Airbus prefers to do nothing and maintain a favorable status quo, European sources say. But it has been hosting studies code-named “A321neo-plus-plus” or “A321 Ultimate” with more seats and compound wings to fend off any commercial attack for years.

Such an upgrade could cost Airbus around $ 2-3 billion, but far less than the $ 15 billion Boeing would spend on a new aircraft.

Boeing’s premature move risks replicating just the strategic point where it is now.

If it goes too slow, however, investors may have to endure a decade of dangerously low market share in the single-aisle category, the industry’s profitable power.

[[nid:509564]]]

Those who urge restraint, including soon-to-be-out CFO Greg Smith, have a simple argument, insiders say.

Boeing has amassed a mountain of debt and burned $ 20 billion in cash from crisis to crisis.

“It’s a different world,” said an insider. “How could you think of a new plane?”

However, some engineers at the Boeing Seattle office building are crying out for a bold move to reassert their technical dominance after the worst time in their 105-year history.

“That should be a priority for Boeing right now,” said Tom McCarty, an experienced former Boeing avionics engineer. “To regain the clear leadership of advancing technology.”

Engine talks

In considering when to act, Boeing obtained initial technical data from engine manufacturers Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney and General Electric Safran Troop CFM International, industry sources say.

Fierce competition is not expected for a year or more, they add, a delay that illustrates Boeing’s commitment. Rolls, which has the most to gain by re-entering the lucrative single aisle market, said last month it was ready for any new product.

From the sidelines, Boeing is watching China’s decision, where state-owned manufacturer COMAC is working on a C919 narrowbody to potentially challenge the 737 and A320 cash cow families.

Assuming $ 7 billion in net cash and the benefit of a secondary vendor, analysts say Airbus looks the most comfortable, though it’s also faced some industrial headache.

A wild card in the deliberations is the growing environmental pressure, which is reflected in the priorities of every aircraft manufacturer.

Airbus has committed to launch the first hydrogen-powered small airliner in 2035.

The “zero emissions” agenda reflects the CEO’s belief that disruptive technologies will play a role in next-generation jets. However, industry sources say it is no coincidence that such rhetoric also prevents Boeing from launching an interim jet.

[[nid:440679]]]

Boeing has emphasized faster profits through sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Any new 757 jet would have the ability to run 100 percent on SAF, said people familiar with the plan.

While Boeing supports drop-in fuel for technical reasons, it leaves enough space to argue that a relatively early new aircraft would still meet the industry’s environmental goals.

Meanwhile, Airbus kept the pressure going last week with proposals to nearly double single-aisle production within four years.

While some suppliers questioned how quickly the plan could be implemented, an industry manager noted that he had “sent a message that Airbus is the No. 1 out of the crisis and wants to stay there”.

One risk is that anything that looks like market share could trigger the very same Boeing jet that Airbus is trying to avoid.

When asked whether Airbus’s expansion plans could lead Boeing to launch a new aircraft, Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury downplayed the prospect of a new arms race in the industry.

“If you trust the MAX with the pent-up demand that you see for single aisle, then I don’t see why you should be in a hurry to replace the MAX. If they find themselves in a different situation, they might come to different conclusions, ”Faury told Reuters.

Inventory futures have hardly modified after their subdued begin in June

0

US stock index futures were barely changed on Wednesday after cautious action on June 1st.

Futures contracts pegged to the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 34 points. S&P 500 futures traded around the flatline and Nasdaq 100 futures were 0.1% lower.

Stocks tied to the economic reopening were slightly weaker in pre-trading hours. United Airlines and American Airlines stocks declined slightly. Carnival Corp and some retailers were also lower in early trading.

The AMC share rose again and rose by a further 25% in pre-market trading. Meme stock rose 22% Tuesday after raising $ 230.5 million through a stock sale.

During Tuesday’s regular trading, the Dow gained 47 points, or 0.14%, after rising more than 300 points at one point. The S&P broke a 3-day winning streak and finished just 2 points. The Nasdaq Composite was the relative underperformer, down 0.09% for its second negative session of three.

Despite the subdued action, there were some winners during the session, particularly in stocks related to the economic recovery. Airline and cruise company stocks rose as US Covid cases continued to decline.

Fears of inflation and the way the Federal Reserve might react have weighed on sentiment lately, although key averages are still hovering around all-time highs.

“The markets remain strong,” said Cliff Hodge, Cornerstone Wealth’s chief investment officer. “Economic growth is robust, monetary conditions remain extremely simple and consumers are filled with cash from the economic stimulus when the virus cases fall and the economy reopens.”

The S&P 500 and Dow are down 0.8% and 1.5%, respectively, from their May highs. The Nasdaq has a little more ground to make up after a rotation from growth-oriented market areas. The tech-heavy index is currently 3.3% from its all-time high in April.

Looking ahead, Morgan Stanley strategists said they would prefer defensive, affordable, quality stocks during the mid-cycle transition.

“We believe that re-opening execution and earnings stability are qualities that the market will reward,” the company wrote in a statement to customers.

Energy was the top performing S&P 500 group on Tuesday after oil prices rose, pushing West Texas Intermediate’s crude oil futures to their highest level in more than two years.

The markets could be put on hold ahead of Friday’s big job report. According to economists polled by Dow Jones, the US likely added 671,000 non-farm payrolls in May, up from 266,000 jobs added the previous month.

Set up your fridge such as you’re a goddamn grownup

We organize storage spaces like our closets, drawers, and garages, but the refrigerator tends to be neglected. However, of all the spaces that need to be organized, the refrigerator is the only one that is time sensitive.

Waste 360 reported that the average American household throws away about 103 pounds of food each year, and three in four Americans attributed their food waste to disorganization – as in: [the food] in their refrigerator, or it gets lost in the mess. ”To slow the rate at which we throw away food, our refrigerators need to be positioned beyond average storage norms. Here’s how to maximize the layout of your refrigerator to improve functionality and avoid excessive food waste.

Know where to store certain foods for a longer shelf life

Different areas of the refrigerator indicate the storage of certain foods. The crisper is for fruits and vegetables, but most fridges won’t tell you where to put the meat or where to store the milk. Where you put your food can be the difference between the value of a week and the value of a day.

Every shelf has a purpose

The shelves are located at different distances from the cooling mechanism in your refrigerator. Because of this, storing certain items on the lower, upper, or middle shelves preserves the food differently. Information experts at The hub have provided storage instructions, identified by shelf.

Keep snacks, leftovers, and other items that are quick to eat (which could also spoil quickly) on the top shelf. The middle shelves are for dairy, cheese, cooked meat, and leftovers. The middle section tends to be on the cooler end, so keep your milk and eggs here and they’ll last longer. If your milk doesn’t fit in the middle section, you can easily rearrange the shelves to suit your needs. Items containing bacteria must be kept separate to avoid cross-contamination. Keep these items on the last shelf. The bottom compartment is perfect for raw meat and fish and should be wrapped or kept in sealed containers. The drawers are for your fruits and vegetables. (Though they can be too moist for mushrooms.)

The Door of your refrigerator is one of the the warmest It is best to store the least perishable foods like spices, pickles, and jams there.

Don’t put all of your products in the same drawer

We rarely think strategically about where we relate our fresh products – the fruits and vegetables go into the crisper and that’s it. However, this is a common mistake.

The Release of ethylene gas is the reason for the ripening of fruits or vegetables. When certain fruits produce more than others, they can accelerate the ripening process, causing the food to go bad earlier. For this reason, you should store items like apples, cabbage, mushrooms, and mangoes separately from each other. insider provides a convenient list of products that should and should not be stored together.

Buy refrigerator containers to increase visibility and function

Everything in your refrigerator needs a specific space, and purchasing baskets and bins will help you categorize your items and free up more space. If you enjoy storing beer, seltzer, or soda cans, invest in a Can holder. This container allows you to stack more cans while taking up less shelf space. Each type of article should have its own compartment.

If you’re new to the organization and don’t know where to start, catch up Starter kit. A container kit is a roadmap for setting up an organized grocery storage system in your home. These sets contain stackable containers for your meat and eggs, baskets for your bread, smaller containers for your fruit in your fridge drawers, and more.

Kits can be pretty expensive anywhere from $ 163 to $ 243, but worth saving $ 103 on spoiled products. If you are on a tight budget, cheap containers from your bargain or dollar store can do the trick, it might just take some creative stacking. In the end, instead of discovering spoiled foods hidden behind the milk, you can enjoy your meal.

Put together to take inspiration from AGT’s first ever Golden Buzzer winner

0

America’s Got Talent season 16 began with a bang.

Judge Howie Almond used the first Golden Buzzer of the year during the season premiere on Tuesday, June 1, to honor the New York City Northwell Health Nurse Choir. The gathering of workers on the front lines resulted in an emotional mash-up of Bill Withers‘”Lean on me” and Ben E. King‘s “Stand by me.”

Winnie Mele, a 64-year-old health professional, told viewers on a taped section, “What makes this choir so special is that we are all frontline nurses. You know, we’re not professional singers. We take care of patients. “

The ensemble of 18 nurses then took the stage, and before they started singing, Winnie told the jury what they wanted to achieve during their time together.

“We know that it still hurts a lot of us out there,” she said. “And we hope that we will just radiate some joy and love and let them know that we have found our resilience, and we hope they do too.”
