Utilizing TikTok’s new anti-bullying instruments

0

An unfortunate side effect of a social media platform’s success is a corresponding increase in cyberbullying and harassment, and TikTok is no exception.

Fortunately, the company has started implementing new anti-bullying strategies to keep its users safe, starting with stricter anti-harassment and cyberbullying policies that were introduced in December 2020. The latest part of TikTok’s anti-bullying initiative consists of two new features designed to reduce harmful comments.

Comment approval

Illustration for the article titled Using TikTok's New Anti-Bullying ToolsImage: TikTok

The first is a new option to approve comments. With TikTok, users can already Filter comments by keywordThis can help prevent users from posting blurring, swear words, or other problematic content on your videos. The app can now hide any new comments until you review and approve them. Those you approve will appear publicly in the comments section of the video, and those you dismiss will not be published at all.

How to find and activate the new comment review tool in the TikTok app:

  1. Open your TikTok profile.
  2. Tap the “…” Symbol.
  3. Go to Privacy and security> Who can comment on my videos?
  4. Choose “Comment filter.”
  5. To turn on “Filter all comments.”

To see a list of all pending comments, return to the Comment Filter menu and tap “Check your filtered comments.” Tap a comment, then choose whether to delete or approve it.

Preventive anti-bullying prompts

In addition to the new comment review tool, TikTok now automatically reviews comments before a user posts them.

If the app’s AI detects a language that violates TikTok’s guidelines, the app warns users that their comment may be violating the rules and gives them the option to revise or discard the comment.

Illustration for the article titled Using TikTok's New Anti-Bullying ToolsImage: TikTok

However, it does not prevent users from posting potentially harmful comments. Users can ignore TikTok’s prompts to reconsider their comment and post anyway. In this case, the advanced comment filter will hopefully prevent these rough answers from ultimately being displayed in the comment area. Still, the company hopes the extra step will reduce nuisance – and general negativity – on its platform.

ITV host reacts to Piers Morgan’s exit to Meghan Markle Alternate

0

Piers MorganFormer Good Morning Britain co-host talks about the controversial TV personality’s sudden exit from the show following the couple’s fierce exchanges Meghan Markle.

On Tuesday March 9th, Piers, a former British tabloid editor and co-judge of America’s Got Talent, left the ITV show. His departure followed a backlash to his dismissive comments on the Duchess of Sussex, which he has often criticized, and the shocking revelations she made while Prince Harry‘s most recent tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, including about her own mental health prior to the couple’s royal exit in 2020.

“Piers’ departure was not the conclusion I was hoping for,” said Good Morning Britain, co-host and ITV weatherman Alex Beresford tweeted on Thursday March 11th. “For the past few years, Piers and I have had a lively, cheeky relationship on the air. We both wanted to be on the show Tuesday morning, and from our very public conversations on Twitter we both knew how strong our opinions were about treating ourselves Harry and Meghan distinguished before and after the interview that divided the world. “

J & J.’s distinctive Covid vaccine accredited by Europe

LONDON – The European Union on Thursday approved the use of the one-off coronavirus vaccine developed by Johnson & Johnson and added another weapon to the armory to fight Covid-19.

The European drug regulator made its recommendation on Thursday, and the EU Commission issued formal approval later that day.

The vaccine has the added benefit of only requiring a single dose and can be stored in most standard refrigerators at temperatures of 2 to 8 degrees Celsius (or about 36 to 46 degrees Fahrenheit), making transportation and storage easier and cheaper makes.

Once delivery begins, the shot could add a lot to Europe’s difficult vaccination program and is the fourth to be approved by the EMA. Two-dose vaccines developed by Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca, and Oxford University have also been approved.

While easier to distribute, the vaccine has been found not to be as effective as the Pfizer and Moderna shots in preventing Covid infection. However, the data shows that it offers an adequate level of protection: data from clinical trials from the United States have shown that J & J’s vaccine is 72% effective against moderate to severe Covid (although it has been found to be less effective in studies elsewhere which gives it an overall efficacy of 66% protection) compared to about 95% for the other two vaccines.

The speed at which the EU can introduce the J&J vaccine is not yet clear. The EU has ordered 200 million cans of the shot, with an option for an additional 200 million, Johnson & Johnson said in a statement last October.

However, it was reported on Wednesday that, like other vaccine suppliers in the EU (Pfizer-BioNTech and AstraZeneca), delivery of the J&J vaccine to the block may be slower than expected.

An unnamed EU official told Reuters that Johnson & Johnson had told the EU it was facing supply issues that could complicate plans to deliver 55 million doses of its vaccine to the block in the second quarter of the year. CNBC has contacted J&J for additional comments on the report and has yet to receive a response.

The European Commission, the EU’s executive branch, said on Wednesday that it had not been informed of any delays from J&J.

Another delay in vaccine supply would exacerbate the already lethargic introduction of vaccines in the EU, which has faced issues due to a slower ordering process than the UK and US, slower deliveries, bureaucracy and hesitant vaccines.

In the US, J&J has signed a contract with the US government to supply 100 million cans by the end of June. On Wednesday, the Biden government announced plans to buy an additional 100 million cans. The announcement came as the White House is working to ramp up production of the vaccine after learning earlier this year that the company had fallen behind in production.

Last week, Biden announced that pharmaceutical company Merck would help manufacture J & J’s Covid vaccine. Under the terms of the agreement, Merck will deploy two facilities in the US for J & J’s vaccine. One will make the vaccine and the other will provide “fill-finish” services when the vaccine is put into vials.

China’s prime minister talks about training to drive innovation

BEIJING – As tensions with the US eased, China’s representative emphasized the country’s need to build its own talent.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang addressed reporters on Thursday immediately after the conclusion of a largely symbolic annual parliamentary session.

This year, the so-called Two Sessions officially approved China’s development plan for the next five years – and targets for 2035. The document sets out seven areas of scientific research that Beijing wants to focus on in order to build a technological “self” -confidence . “

Li reiterated the call for the US to work together and not interfere in China’s “internal” affairs, and focused most of his comments on how Beijing wanted to strengthen its own economy.

After emphasizing the need to support scientists in research and development, Li said, “I want to say a few words to young students. Regardless of your future career or ambitions, you need to strengthen your basic learning.” That comes from a CNBC translation of his Mandarin remarks.

That knowledge “goes hand in hand” with innovation, Li said. He also said that this year China is committed to upgrading teacher training in rural areas and that migrant children with urban permits must receive education.

In addition to developing native talent and investing in research, Li said China needs to cooperate with other countries on technology development.

Less details on changes for international business

The comments contrast with Li’s emphasis on attracting foreign companies during the same post-parliamentary meeting with reporters last year.

In a March 5 government labor report and remarks to reporters on Thursday, Li reiterated Beijing’s commitment to further open its market to foreign business and investment. Beijing had rushed to pass a new foreign investment law during the two sessions in 2019, and then pushed ahead with the lifting of restrictions on foreign ownership in large parts of the financial industry.

However, the tone during this year’s parliamentary session was more subdued. Instead, the prime minister’s remarks focused more on the potential of the growing Chinese economy and the state’s efforts to support more than 1.4 billion people.

Li said the government will expand reimbursement programs to improve older people’s access to health care as the country’s aging population creates new business opportunities. He added that the government would improve protection for around 200 million “flexible” workers who do not do traditional, regular-hour jobs.

Given the “very high” pressure on job security, China is aiming to create at least 11 million new urban jobs. The country has set itself the goal of achieving GDP growth of over 6% this year and increasing spending on research and development by at least 7% annually over the next five years.

On Thursday, Li expressed confidence that China could find talent to lead this research – and stressed that everyone in the country can contribute to national efforts to promote innovation.

Bear in mind your teen is just not your “undertaking”

All parents (or at least all decent parents) want the best for their children. You want them to be successful in school so that they can be successful in life. They want to raise children who will become adults who are honest and full of integrity and who have solid work ethics. And because we know that both nature and care play a role in how our children ultimately “develop”, we are always on the lookout for problems at home or at school that we need to address. But sometimes we become so focused on “fixing” the immediate problem that we lose sight of what our real role is in the bigger picture of their lives.

A current advice column in The Washington Post serves as a good reminder for all of us. One parent wrote to columnist Meghan Leahy to ask what to do with their 15-year-old son, who has had no interest in working for classes (or teachers) he thinks “stupid” – and for years then lies to his parents about it. This parent tried everything to address the behavior: therapy, removing the Xbox, creating reward systems, staying away, joining in, levitating, crying, screaming – and still their son fails some of his classes.

After Leahy feels a bit sorry for the son (she says she also did much of high school), she points out that parents focus too much on the “what” and nowhere near enough on the “why”.

Let’s all shenanigans pause on behavior change. Let’s stop the fear of all of this failure and what it means for his future. Let’s pause and push him into therapy or tutoring. Let us. Straight. Stop. Repeat after me: “My son is not a project. He is a fully human young man and he needs my support and love. “Repeat this over and over and then get curious. Invite him to eat with you, take you on a hike, learn a video game with you, and meet him without an agenda. Any single class that it fails can be invented. Anything he hasn’t learned can eventually be learned, and I want you to tell him that.

Illustration for article titled Remember Your Teen Is Not Yours

Leahy’s words caught my eye because it is so easy for parents to be caught up in a desperate need to correct any final aspect of their child’s behavior or school work ethic or relationships. It can feel like we have 18 years to shape them exactly how we want them and we forget that at least some of them were born who they are. The natural part was always there – and the care part is less about sticking a square pen in a round hole and more about establishing strong connections with you.

As told by a clinical psychologist Your teenage magazine::

“By the time children reach their teenage years, parents often feel like they are saying the wrong thing or their teenagers are rebelling into withdrawing or oversteering – none of that works,” says Dr. Laura Markham, clinical psychologist and author of Peaceful Parent, Happy Children. “What works is realizing that teenagers still need your guidance, but you can’t control them. The only way you can influence is through your relationship with your teen. “

We earn our long-term influence on our children not by challenging it, but by being a supportive, loving force in their lives. Whatever they struggle and do or not do is not necessarily a direct result of our parenthood; It’s not a mistake we made or a programming bug that we need to correct. Sure, we have to have rules, boundaries and consequences and all that, but most of the time, as Leahy puts it, our children just need us to be less judgmental and “more curious” about their lives.

Mom, who has paid £ 40,000 in debt, reveals the “proper” quantity of pocket cash for kids to assist them study money

A SAVVY mother has been teaching her children about money since they started school – to avoid financial problems when they are older.

Tunbridge Wells’ 37-year-old Naomi Willis and husband Ricky have raised a whopping £ 40,000 – but they did it in just four years with a few simple tips.

4th

Savvy mother Naomi Willis (37) from Tunbridge Wells has shown the right approach to pocket money with which her daughters Daniella (16) and Chloe (9) can learn money

Now the money-saving mother says she refuses to give her children pocket money and instead lets Daniella (16) and Chloe (9) work for their money.

Daniella has already been educated about mortgages and investing – something many adult adults don’t quite understand – and has a huge savings account from selling unwanted toys and books.

Naomi and Ricky, who have a combined income of £ 55,000, were already spending pocket money when they were five – but soon discovered they couldn’t afford it.

Now they say it is not about “pocket money” but about teaching your child how to make a living.

Naomi and partner Ricky have paid off their own £ 40,000 debt and are now sharing tips online at Skint Dad

4th

Naomi and partner Ricky have paid off their own £ 40,000 debt and are now sharing tips online at Skint Dad

“We don’t have set rules for spending money, but instead give them a certain amount when they complete a task or do something thoughtful. It’s more of a reward,” Naomi told The Mirror.

“This could be for housework, but we don’t reward all housework as everyone is expected to help keep the house clean.”

Naomi announced that the amount they give depends on what they can afford at the time – but it’s usually always a small amount, like 1 pound per task.

The couple have a £ 10 a month budget allocated to the reward system – and sometimes it’s a reward instead of cash.

Naomi said they want to teach their girls the “value of money” and that “achieving goals can lead to victories”.

Naomi wants her girls to understand the value of money, so she refuses to hand over cash

She also said that she thinks the best way to go is by not having set amounts or dates to pay – and they believe it will work.

Daniella ran out of budget for the first time recently when she spent too much for Christmas.

But the mother of two insists that “a big part of learning is overcoming your own mistakes,” and while she and Ricky don’t want their daughter to struggle, “a few little slip-ups can help her understand better”.

Naomi also taught her daughters how to balance budgets, which means they had money to cover activities and expenses, as well as “fun money”.

Parents have taught their children everything they need to know about finances to make sure they don't get into trouble

Parents have taught their children everything they need to know about finances to make sure they don’t get into trouble

Naomi’s Tips To Teach Your Kids About Money

  • First, look at your budget – can you afford pocket money?
  • Younger children spend less money than older children, so expectations of pocket money will increase with age
  • Take a look at what the money is likely to be spent on and limit it if you need it
  • Instead, save on behalf of your children – set aside money for driving lessons or a home security deposit
  • Try shopping online – give them a shopping list and budget, and let them practice running a grocery store online

Recalling the time she and Ricky had their own financial troubles in 2013, Naomi admitted that it was “the worst financial situation we’ve ever been in”.

Knowing that something had to change, the couple changed their behavior to reduce debt and realized “the importance of financial literacy”.

Naomi said, “Being better off financially is something that we can all achieve and that we should strive for all of our lives.”

“Financial literacy starts at home and essentially at birth you can start doing things as simple as counting that you can reinforce as they grow up.”

Naomi and her husband Ricky run an online blog called Skint Dad, where they share tips for other parents.

Running shoesPhoto: TierneyMJ (Shutterstock)

It’s spring again, and if you’re lamenting a snowy winter, the roads are likely to be beckoning. Why not dust off your running shoes and go jogging amid the spring flowers and fresh air that won’t hurt your face anymore? Oh right Because it’s been a while and you might not be quite sure where to start.

See yourself as a passing beginner

Just because you got a five-mile run every weekend last fall doesn’t mean you can kick one out today. Or even if you can, it might not be wise to get into the habit of doing it without a proper ramp-up.

The good news is that you will get through these early stages much faster than when you were a beginner. The shorter the break, the easier it will be. But even if your last run was years ago, your prospects are good.

That said, it’s important to remember that cardio fitness is not a running fitness. If you can do a 45-minute dance video or bike workout, your heart and lungs are likely up to a 45-minute jog. Great. But running puts unique strains on your bones, tendons, and foot muscles, and you need to limit your running to that Avoid Injury in the early stages of your comeback. If your runs feel too short, supplement them with other workouts for now.

Schedule a course

Make a comeback plan. I’ve been in this situation many times and my favorite way to get through the first month or so is to grab a beginner plan and follow it until I feel like I’m running again. At this point I can switch to a different program if I think the rookie plan is not challenging me enough.

Here are some suggestions in order of (my) preference:

  • Work out intuitive walking for three short runs per week (20 minutes each is a good start).
  • Get one of the programs from halhigdon.com like this Floor plan for beginners.
  • Or go with the classic Couch up to 5K. If you’ve already done this program, it can be comforting to repeat it.

Illustration for article titled How to Get Back to Running After Taking a Break

Check your gear

Do you still have your old running shoes? How old are you anyway? Unless Feel good on your feet during and after a runIt is probably time to replace them.

The same goes for your sports bra and any of your favorite pants, socks, etc. Take stock of what you have, what you need, and what should be repaired or replaced.

Think back to all of your best runs, the last time you were a regular runner. What did she do great? Take a minute to reproduce all of the factors that you control. Maybe you had a favorite playlist that you listened to. either dig it up now or remake it. Or maybe you’ve discovered that you love to run in nature. Check out the walking maps for your favorite park, especially if it’s been a while as there may have been changes.

Take it easy

Especially if you don’t always enjoy running, take some pressure off yourself. Instead of worrying about how fast you complete each training run, make sure that you are using each run for its intended purpose. Easy days should be easywithout time pressure. Long runs should be slow. On days when you do speedwork or tempo runs, this can benefit if you time yourself and make sure you hit the specific numbers in your program.

Illustration for article titled How to Get Back to Running After Taking a Break

But don’t worry too much about your numbers just yet, especially if they are not what they used to be. There is no benefit in running your simple runs too fast. You will just disappoint yourself for no reason. In fact, it’s okay to leave the phone or watch at home and not even tell the time. Try a targeted diary (on paper!) to keep track of things instead.

Technically sales kicked off earlier this week at retailers like Walmart, but Best Buy waited for the big day and one upped other retailers. Head over there and you can get games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Mario Odyssey for $40. You can also grab Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker for $30, which isn’t really a Mario game, but I’m not complaining. Best of all, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is only $15, which is a steal. These are some low prices for some excellent Switch games, so celebrate Mario in the most fitting way: by spending a lot of coins. Feel free to leave your favorite Mario memory in the comments. My favorite is when he told Luigi to F off.

We haven’t really seen any discounts on PlayStation 5 accessories since the console launched. Everything has been in such high demand that it didn’t really make sense to lower prices. Luckily, one of the first shots in the price cut war has been fired. Woot has the Dualsense controller for $60, which is $10 off its original price. Considering that players are already reporting that their controllers have slight drift after a few months, you might be needing one soon. or perhaps you just want a second one to play Tony Hawk in split screen. Whatever the reason, this is the cheapest we’ve seen it yet and Amazon Prime members even get free shipping. We don’t expect this to be the norm, so act fast!

So your phone’s feeling a bit laggy these days, but you’re not sure what to snag as your next daily driver. There’s lots of ways to whittle down your choices, but a good deal certainly never hurt. Right now, you can get Google’s Pixel 3a XL for $200, as long as your line is on Sprint or T-Mobile. The phone, which was discontinued last year and typically retails for over $400, features a 12.2 MP rear camera and 8 MP front-facing camera, 4GB of RAM, and a 6″ OLED display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080.

Apple’s Lightning cable did wonders for those of us who struggle to get our USB cables plugged in the right way, but it’s still a pain to get just right in the dark sometimes. The company’s newly reborn MagSafe Charger, however, magnetically slaps a charger (or a slew of other accessories) to the back of your device without hogging up your Lightning port.

At $39, it’s a hefty ask for charging functionality, but it’s a cool party trick, and it does add a bit of convenience to your nightly charging routine. If $5 off will entice you, though, it’s down to $34 on Amazon right now. It’s still not the cheapest or best charger you can get, and you have better options, but if a cable-free lifestyle is in your sights, this might be worth a shot.

In his roundup of the best VPNs at Gizmodo, Andrew Couts called NordVPN “fast and easy to use,” citing accessibility and affordability as reasons to subscribe. Though it’s almost always marked down from its $287 list price, the 2-year plan is nonetheless the cheapest option to get started with the service and continue using it long-term. For a limited time only, though, it’s not only 68% off, bringing your total to just $89 for 730 days, but it also comes with an extra 1-month, 1-year, or 2-year plan, randomly applied by the Nordic gods at checkout, through the end of February.

Couts says in his abbreviated review:

No matter what you pay, you’ll get access to more than 5,400 servers in more than 60 countries, a bunch of features you may or may not want, and, because the company is based in Panama, assurances that your data—or lack of data, as the case may be—is outside of U.S. and European jurisdictions. Like every other VPN on this list, NordVPN claims to have a “strict no-logs policy,” so most of your data isn’t collected, the company says. It does still collect your email address, payment information, and the timestamp of the last time you launched the VPN.

But NordVPN isn’t without its downsides. “…some researchers have found that it sends your email address and Google Ad ID to a marketing company when you register through the Android app and contains some trackers,” Couts explained. “Another downside is that some of NordVPN’s servers are rented, which means another company you need to trust is in the mix. And yes, one of those servers got hacked in 2018.”

Still, if you want one of the most reliable VPN clients, with the budget to support its robust infrastructure, you can’t go wrong with NordVPN. Plus, with availability on virtually every platform imaginable—from macOS to Android TV—this private networking tool is equal parts ubiquitous and acclaimed. Endorsed by PCMag, Wired, CNET, Business Insider, and more, it may be time to board the Nord train if you’re somehow unwedded to a VPN already.

Now that we’re at home all the time, slowly losing our minds, it’s crucial, now than ever, that we start taking our vision seriously. I mean, without the right pair of glasses, how are you going to finally binge-watch the entirety of The Sopranos over the next few weeks—without overworking your retinas? How are you going to comfortably see every bright, raytraced pixel on your new PS5 or Xbox Series X?

You’re going to need a fresh pair of prescription frames for 65% off, and we’re going to give that to you, courtesy of GlassesUSA. Right now. Take a moment. Find your next pair of glasses, look at the price, and slash that by two thirds. Now check out and enter the promo code KINJA65, and add blue light blocking lenses while you’re at it, for 50% less with the code BLUE50. Whether you’re staring at Good Screen or Bad Screen, your eyes will thank you for the added layer of protection. You don’t necessarily even need a prescription.

To further sweeten the deal, GlassesUSA is giving Kinja Deals readers a 20% discount on designer brands including Gucci, Prada, Armani, and more. Just drop the promo code PREMIUM20 in at checkout and watch the numbers shrink. No matter your standards, you’re bound to find a new pair of eyes that suit you well. If not, there’s a 100% money-back guarantee on ALL GlassesUSA orders. Before you check out with a fresh pair of frames, however, I do recommend uploading a photo of yourself and trying them on your virtual face—a real thing you can do on this website.

*Premium- and Sale-tagged frames excluded.

Back at the launch of Destiny 2: Beyond Light, I made my not-so triumphant return to the Crucible, the game’s PVP mode. As it turned out, everyone had gotten better at the game, and I’d gotten much worse. If you want to raise your K/D ratio fast, here’s a tip: all you have to do is log into a match that I’m in and wait for me to shoot hand cannon shots 20 feet above your head, giving you ample time to one-shot me with just about any weapon, it seems.

If you’re a PlayStation owner and you want in on this easy target practice, you’ll need to make sure you have PlayStation Plus, which allows you to play games like Destiny 2 online. You can get a full year of Sony’s online service for $24 after service fees from Eneba by using the code TWENTYSIXPLUS (don’t ask me why) at checkout. Make sure to wave emote at me before you embarrass me into orbit.

Drink more water is easy advice to give, not so easy to follow. But hell, when you can mix it with CBD for maximum chillaximum, you’ve got more of an incentive stay hydrated. The only problem is, mixing CBD oil into your drinks is often more trouble than it’s worth—take it from me, a guy who used to make CBD tea by dissolving the oil into melted butter, stirring it along the way, and then pouring that new solution into a hot cup o’ H20 with a steeped tea bag inside. Caliper CBD, on the other hand, cuts out that middle step, is completely tasteless, and blends in perfectly to any drink. And if you want a little flavor, Caliper Swiftsticks come in Cool Mint, Lemon Lime, and Mixed Berry variants to pack the ultimate cannabis-infused punch.

Take it from me, someone who’s tried it out and loves the concept but was initially skeptical of the execution—could CBD powder be as effective as oils or edibles? Although it has been vetted by scientists, I remained unconvinced until I was sent a pack myself. After mixing it into water, tea, and even La Croix, I can vouch for Caliper CBD. It serves its function, helping you relax and relieving chronic pain, with a pre-measured 20mg of cannabidiol in every pack. And for a limited time, Caliper is $10 off for Kinja Deals readers (with free shipping) using the promo code KINJA10. If you’re a frequent CBD user, my guess is you won’t regret it. But in case you do, Caliper offers full refunds for anyone unsatisfied with the product. Try it out while it’s on sale.

While there have been teases of warmer weather, chilly temperatures are still very much here. JACHS is basically giving it all away, so make sure you stay comfortable and stylish while waiting for spring. There are some items up to 90% off in this blowout sale. Use the code CLEANUP at checkout and watch the dollars melt away like the winter snow. This sale will run until March 17. Expect an additional 15% off already discounted pieces.

I love the look of these sherpa-lined jackets ($33). There’s something a little classic, a little vintage but very stylish about them. The stretch corduroy fabric comes in this beautiful charcoal color and will keep you very toasty when temperatures drop.

I’m partial to a henley and think it looks great on everyone. This olive green one is $25 and made of cozy merino wool. The long sleeve makes it ideal for layering, and the traditional waffle stitch pattern gives it a nice texture.

I’m actually a fan of their crewneck sweatshirts and can say they are super comfy. Buying two is a good idea because you might have a significant other who will steal yours. It’s me, and I stole my boyfriend’s. They’re also 67% off, so hard to pass up.
