There was a time when streaming services could boast of being the first [insert your favorite big theatrical hit]But that is becoming increasingly rare at a time when streaming services have only become more segmented and there weren’t any big box office hits last year.

At first glance, I was completely unimpressed by the layout of the content Hulu in March considering I’d only heard of roughly one of the newer ones: Ammonite (March 5th), a strange romance loosely based on the life of the seminal paleontologist Mary Anning. Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan star in the film that has been compared (mostly unfavorable, although the reviews are ok) to the portrait of a burning lady. “And that’s it?” I wondered. So I googled the names of a few other movies and … actually found a few that look promising.

Having already had a time warp success with Palm Springs in 2020, Hulu is returning for Groundhog Day Boss Fight (March 5th) who seems to enjoy playing with the conventions of the genre as it follows a man seemingly destined to be killed time and time again by a group of deadly assassins. Eva Green speaks in tongues (yowza) in Proxima (March 7th), which appears to be an artistic French version of the mediocre Netflix series Away “Astronaut Goes to Mars”.

Naughty books (March 15th) looks like a fascinating documentary about the rise of the self-published adult entertainment market. Sister Aimee (March 15) promises to be a sharp satire about a televangelist who is losing faith in the bat. Pink wall (March 15) follows six years of a relationship between a couple played by Tatiana Maslany and Jay Duplass. in the traces (March 15th), it looks like Mia Wasikowska is going wild in the Australian outback. And that was well-reviewed Hunter hunter (March 19th) seems like an extremely bleak horror film about a serial killer in the woods that I’ll never see, but I’m glad Devon Sawa is getting a job.
