HERE we can expect the sixth and final season of the most watched non-English language show on Netflix, Money Heist.

It is no wonder that the plot of the fifth and final season of the suspenseful Spanish crime thriller, Money Heist, was more closely guarded than a bank vault filled with gold bars.

“I can’t tell you how the show will end – they’d cut my throat,” laughed Álvaro Morte, who plays the professor, the Houdini-like mastermind behind the two spectacular heists attempted by the show’s red jumpsuits Walk through the five series.

“I’m on episode eight and got episodes nine and 10 so I can’t tell you if it’s that good or not. Man i hope so.

“What I can tell you is that it’s a season of tension, action, and excitement.

“It’s very rewarding for an actor, but quite exhausting in a good way.

“My connection with this character has given me a lot, I really enjoy it and I have a great time every time the professor has to do his thing.

“Everything about working with this team has been a great experience. The best memory I have without a doubt is the team.”

The new series – which is divided into two volumes of five episodes – picks up where we left the gang stuck in the Bank of Spain and surrounded by police.

And Pedro Alonso, who plays the professor’s brother, Berlin, agrees that fans can look forward to the most action-packed season yet.

“This is rock and roll,” he said, “because from what I’ve seen we’re making a war film, but within four walls.

“It’s an epic war film. In previous seasons we had different worlds and now it’s a new world. “

A popular character who won’t be part of this new world is Nairobi (Alba Flores), who was shockingly killed towards the end of the fourth series.

“In a sense, Nairobi was the heart of the gang,” explains director Jesús Comenar.

“But I think she would have had a hard time fitting in this last season because this is a season of face-to-face confrontation.

“And Nairobi has always been a different kind of character, a character that wasn’t made for face-to-face confrontation. But her legacy will surely inspire the other characters. “

Naturally, what many of the show’s millions of fans will wonder is why is there a day now when Money Heist is at the height of its popularity?

“We made over 2,000 minutes of feature film with two robberies,” said Jesús.

“I think we’ve worn out some of the characters’ emotional arcs. We’ve talked a lot and I think it’s a good time to stop.

“It’s a very climatic season and I think it’s always better to leave earlier than later.

“We have many examples in international series fiction that we think have dragged on for too long.

“And I think the smartest thing about when a series is at the height of its success is to go with a bang and make a season that is very special in so many ways.

“It’s very different from all previous seasons and we all put our eggs in one basket to go out with a bang.”

The way it sounds, Jesus means it quite literally …

“We built a kit that is littered with explosives so we can blow it up,” he said.

“I don’t think a set on a series has ever been so short-lived. It’s a spectacular set, by the way.

“It’s the luxurious dining room of the Bank of Spain and the Gold Museum, which are on the top floor of the bank, and the armory. This season is one of total destruction. “

The five episodes 1-5 of the Money Heist series are now available on Netflix, with episodes 6-10 following in December.

“We made over 2,000 minutes of fiction with two robberies,” said Jesús
