Grass stains are common both harsh and annoying. The stains come from a mixture of chlorophyll, xanthophylls, and carotenoids that stick to our clothes and are difficult to remove, but hope is not lost – in this little case, we can beat nature. This is how you get rid of stubborn grass stains for good.

Soak your clothes to remove grass stains

Ideally, you want to treat the stain as soon as possible. If you have a stain remover, such as OxyClean, apply it to the area as soon as possible. Immediately treating the stain with a remover won’t completely remove the stain, but it will loosen it before it sets in and make it easier to remove when the real cleaning begins.

Instead of an over-the-counter stain remover, you can mix and match two parts water and one part vinegar soak the clothes for 15 minutes right after the stain is made. You could use it too Banana oil on the area and let it sit for five minutes to loosen the stain before washing.

This will keep grass stains from getting worse

Once you’ve stained or soaked the area, it’s important not to rub the stain. Scrubbing normal dirt off clothing can be effective, but rubbing stains like grass will only dig the particles and chlorophyll deeper into the fabric. Instead, you should take a clean cloth and blot the area before washing.

Detergent with enzymes is perfect for breaking down organic matter. Bibbentuckers dry cleaning even suggests cleaning with digestive enzymes to remove the grass particles from the fabric. There are several enzyme-based detergents to choose from – just add them to your regular laundry and wash in warm or cold water. Hot water can further set the stain in the fabric, so lukewarm water is best. Keep in mind that heat can set the stain in the fabric, so let your clothes dry naturally before throwing them in the dryer. Once they’re dry, check the area for any remaining green streaks and repeat the process as needed before tossing anything in the dryer.

Nvidia (NVDA) revenue Q2 2022

Nvidia reported earnings on Wednesday for its second fiscal quarter, which ended August 1, beating Wall Street estimates due to strong graphics card sales.

However, Nvidia’s cryptocurrency chip products, CMP, had sales of $ 266 million, lower than the $ 400 million the company forecast in May. Nvidia shares rose over 2% in after-hours trading.

Here’s how the chipmaker performed compared to Refinitiv’s consensus estimates:

  • Merits: $ 1.04, customized, versus $ 1.01 expected
  • Revenue: Expected $ 6.51 billion versus $ 6.33 billion

Nvidia is forecasting sales of $ 6.8 billion for the current quarter, exceeding Refinitiv’s expectations of $ 6.5 billion.

Nvidia is in a period of sustained, massive growth in its business as semiconductors are scarce globally and demand for the type of processors it specializes in skyrockets. Nvidia’s revenue grew 68% annually for the quarter. In the previous quarter, sales increased by 84%.

Graphics chips like Nvidia are becoming increasingly important for a variety of technologies, including games, artificial intelligence, and types of cryptocurrency mining.

Nvidia’s graphics segment, which consists primarily of graphics cards, grew 87% to $ 3.91 billion, growing faster than its computing and networking segment, which includes chips for data centers. Computing and networking grew 46% to $ 2.6 billion.

Broken down by market rather than reportable segment, gaming was a highlight, rising 85% to $ 3.06 billion. Nvidia has had delivery issues since late last year as its newest line of graphics cards are mostly sold out in stores, and the company announced in May that it expects delivery issues in the second half of the year. The company said it was seeing longer lead times across its supply chain on Wednesday.

Nvidia said the surge in game sales was due to both GeForce graphics card sales and the chips being sold to game console manufacturers, like the processor at the heart of the Nintendo Switch.

Nvidia’s data center business also hit an all-time high, growing 35% annually to $ 2.37 billion, which the company attributed to graphics cards for data centers for both industrial use and cloud providers.

Investors are closely watching how Nvidia’s business correlates with cryptocurrency prices.

Cryptocurrency sales fell short of expectations, reporting $ 266 million in cryptocurrency card sales, over 33% less than expected. Nvidia said in May that the dedicated chips it makes for mining cryptocurrencies called CMP are expected to generate around $ 400 million in revenue in the August quarter.

Nvidia says its cryptocurrency cards are an attempt to make sure there are enough chips for players, and it has applied software to its GPUs to keep them from mining cryptocurrencies. Colette Kress, CFO of Nvidia, said it expected a “minimal contribution” from its CMP sales.

Nvidia’s professional visualization segment, primarily graphics cards for high-end professional workstations, grew 156% annually to $ 519 million. The auto business remains a small fraction of the company’s revenue, at $ 152 million in revenue, sequentially less than last quarter and 37% more than in the same quarter last year, which was in the midst of the global Covid-19 pandemic that growled auto production .

Last year, Nvidia announced it would buy Arm, which makes key intellectual property for mobile chips, for $ 40 billion. The deal is turned down by some of Nvidia’s competitors who fear losing access to key arm technology.

“Although some Arm licensees have raised concerns or objected to the transaction and discussions with regulators are taking longer than originally anticipated, we are confident that the transaction recognizes the benefits of the acquisition for Arm, its licensees and the industry.” “Said Nvidia in a statement.

Nvidia split its shares 4-1 in June. Shares are up over 57% over the past year.

Why a slowed metabolism is unlikely to result in your weight acquire

Photo: G-Stock Studio (Shutterstock)

Many of us now carry a little more weight than we did in our 20s. As tempting as it is to attribute this weight gain to a slowed metabolism, according to a. may not be the case Study published last week in the journal Science.

In this study, scientists found that once you adjusted your weight and body fat percentage, metabolic rates remained stable between the ages of 20 and 60. That means your body doesn’t change how many calories it burns during this time just because your age – your metabolism instead depends on your height and the amount of body fat versus lean mass you are carrying.

Why we still learn how our metabolism works

If you’re wondering how a single study can turn everything we believed we knew about our metabolism on its head, it’s because most of our conventional wisdom is not based on solid, verified evidence. The reason is that the studies that can answer these questions are expensive, making it impossible to get a sample size large enough to provide a rigorous, evidence-based answer to how our metabolism changes with age.

“It is hard to believe that in 2021 a paper that reads ‘This is how metabolism changes with body size and over the course of life’ is new,” said Hermann Pontzer, an associate professor of evolutionary biology at Duke University who was a lead author on the study. “We weren’t able to determine the sample sizes. Getting even 100 people into a metabolism study is usually considered a pretty large number. “

To obtain these figures, Pontzer, together with around 80 employees, combined data from several laboratories with the “double-labeled water” method, which is considered the gold standard in the field of metabolic studies. They created a database with the metabolic data of more than 6,400 study participants aged between 8 days and 95 years.

G / O Media can receive a commission

“We never had these numbers to play with,” said Pontzer.

This gave them a sample size large enough to finally answer the question of how our metabolism changes in the course of our lives.

How your metabolism changes over the course of your life

They found that after adjusting for weight and body fat percentage, our metabolism peaks at the age of 1 year, decreases by about 3% per year until you are 20 years old, then remains stable for the next 40 years and then decreases by about 1% per year.

In terms of our own metabolism, your daily energy needs will not change if your weight and body fat percentage remain the same during this time. However, if you maintain the same weight but replace some of your muscle mass with fat, your body will need more energy every day. However, this change would be a factor of weight and body fat percentage rather than a fundamental change in your metabolism.

At the cellular level, “your cells are just as busy at 50 as they are at 20,” said Pontzer. However, once you hit 60, your metabolism changes fundamentally, with your cells using a little less energy over time.

The good news is that weight and body fat percentage are factors that you can change. For example, if you have more muscle mass now than you were in your 20s, it would mean that your body needs more daily energy today than it did back then.

They also found that once men and women adjust to their weight and body fat percentage, they burn calories equally. Granted, women tend to have higher body fat percentages than men, but if you compare men and women who have the same weight and body fat percentage, “they’d have the same amount of energy on average,” said Pontzer.

What to Focus On When Gaining Weight

In practice, this means that weight gain is not because your metabolism is slowing down. Instead, other factors are likely to play a role, such as diet and exercise, which, given all the adult pressures that began to emerge in the 30s and 40s, are all too easy to let go of.

This study doesn’t go into why we often gain weight as we age, but it reassures us that a slowed metabolism isn’t the reason. It also gives us a simple (if not easy) roadmap for adjusting our weight: Losing fat and / or increasing muscle mass will keep our calorie consumption high. That means healthy eating and Strength training are especially important as we get older.

When faced with a pantry full of highly processed foods after a long, busy day juggling work, family, and other commitments, it’s easy to eat a little extra while struggling to find the time to do the activity Your body needs to maintain your muscle mass. That adds up over time.

The good news is that the database that enabled Pontzer and his coworkers to finally answer those questions about our metabolism is now publicly available, which means that any scientist who wants to use the data can do so for as long as theirs Adhere to all ethical guidelines for use of patient data based on proposed research. That means we can learn even more about how our metabolism actually works in the years to come.

“The surprise of this work is not that it contradicts previous data because there was simply no data,” said Pontzer. “The surprise is that biology surprises in ways that you don’t expect when you measure this. I think there will be a lot to learn here. ”

US will start widespread distribution of third vaccine doses subsequent month

0

The United States will begin distributing Covid-19 booster vaccinations on a large scale next month as new data shows vaccine protection wears off over time, US health officials said on Wednesday.

It is now “very clear” that immunity declines after the first two doses, and with the dominance of the delta variant, “we see evidence of decreased protection against mild and moderate disease,” according to the CDC. signed declaration Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, Acting FDA Commissioner Dr. Janet Woodcock, the White House Senior Medical Advisor, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and other US health leaders.

“Based on our latest assessment, current protection against serious illness, hospitalization and death could decline in the coming months, especially for those at higher risk or who were vaccinated during the earlier stages of vaccination.”

As a result, U.S. authorities are preparing to offer booster shots to all eligible Americans starting the week of September 20, eight months after their second dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, officials said. While they said recipients of the Johnson & Johnson single vaccine will likely need booster vaccinations, they are waiting for more dates in the next few weeks before making a formal recommendation.

“With this data, we will also keep the public informed with a timely schedule for J&J booster shots,” officials said.

The plan is subject to formal recommendation by a CDC Vaccine Advisory Committee and FDA approval, also a formality.

The announcement came ahead of a Covid press conference at the White House on Wednesday, where federal health officials further outlined their plan for boosters. President Joe Biden is expected to speak about the U.S. efforts after the briefing, the White House told reporters on Tuesday.

The decision to recommend booster vaccinations comes as the public becomes increasingly concerned about the Delta variant and an increase in breakthrough cases – infections in fully vaccinated individuals. It marks a departure from previous comments by U.S. health officials who said in recent months that fully vaccinated Americans did not need a booster at this point.

U.S. officials changed their embassy to boosters in the past few days as cases continued to rise. Fauci said Thursday that everyone is “likely” to need a booster at some point. On Friday, federal officials approved the administration of booster shots to Americans with compromised immune systems, which include cancer and HIV patients, as well as people who have had organ transplants.

The director of the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Francis Collins, who also signed the statement, said Tuesday that new Covid data, including from Israeli health officials, had caused US health leaders to reconsider their position on vaccine boosters. Israel on Monday released new data showing a reduction in the effectiveness of Pfizer’s Covid vaccine against serious illness in people 65 and over who were fully vaccinated in January or February.

There are similar trends in vaccine effectiveness in the United States, Collins said. He said the surge in breakthrough cases could be due to a combination of the rapidly spreading Delta variant and the deterioration in Covid vaccine protection over time.

The effectiveness of Pfizer’s Covid vaccine has steadily declined over time, dropping to around 84% around four to six months after receiving the second dose for vaccinated people, according to CEO Albert Bourla. Moderna said his vaccine remained 93% effective for the first six months after the second dose, but expects protection to decrease and boosts to be needed.

During a news conference on Wednesday, Walensky said officials based their decision on studies showing immunity to Pfizer and Moderna vaccines decreased over several months. A study in New York from May 3 to July 25 showed that the vaccine’s effectiveness in protecting against infection decreased from around 92% to 80%. Another study by the Mayo Clinic showed that the effectiveness of Pfizer’s vaccine decreased from around 76% to 42%, while that of Moderna’s decreased from 86% to 76%.

“Right now, it’s still like our vaccine protection is working really well,” said Collins. “But we don’t want to wait until it’s oh, too late.”

The move to recommend boosters is likely to trigger criticism, especially since a large part of the world population has not even received a dose of a Covid vaccine.

Earlier this month, the World Health Organization urged rich nations to stop distributing booster vaccinations until at least the end of September to allow poorer countries to vaccinate their populations with the first rounds of vaccination. The application is part of WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus’ plan to vaccinate 40% of the world’s population by December.

The US released the statement minutes after the WHO condemned wealthy nations who support boosters for the general public.

“We clearly believe that the data so far does not suggest the need for boosters,” said Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, WHO senior scientist, during a press conference. “And we need to know which groups and at what point in time after the vaccination and which specific vaccinations the people received in their basic course.”

Lawrence Gostin, director of the WHO Collaborating Center for National and Global Health Law, called the US booster shot plan “a slap in the face” of the international health agency.

“There is a better way to create a win-win situation,” he said in a telephone interview. “We should only empower our health workers and vulnerable people. At the same time, Biden should undertake a bold campaign to vaccinate the world, including significantly increased donations and an increase in vaccine production. “

“In this way we are doing good to America and good to the world. It is in our national interest to stop the development of even more dangerous varieties,” he added.

During a briefing at the White House Tuesday, press secretary Jen Psaki said the government believes it can empower the American people while ensuring that the rest of the world is vaccinated.

“We believe this is a wrong decision. We can do both,” said Psaki. “The United States is by far the largest contributor to the global fight against Covid. We will continue to be the vaccine arsenal around the world. We also have enough supplies and had planned long enough should a refresher be required for those eligible. “Population.”

Giving third shots appears safe. Early data from small studies on the effects of booster doses in immunocompromised patients showed no serious side effects from a third vaccination with an mRNA vaccine, nor did recipients develop side effects beyond those already seen after the initial two-dose treatment.

Once the booster is approved, nursing home residents, health care providers and the elderly – the first groups to be vaccinated in December and January – will likely be given priority for additional vaccinations, Collins said Tuesday. He said “ideally” people should stick with the same manufacturer that they got their first two doses from.

“But if for some reason you don’t have access to it, get the other one,” he said. “Again, as a scientist, I would be more comfortable fixing our plans on real dates, and that means sticking to the same type of vaccine that you had to start with.”

The secrets and techniques behind Patrick Swayze’s most memorable roles

The title didn’t roll off your tongue, but the sweet story of three drag performers stranded in a small town in Nebraska where some heads don’t want to be opened is enchanting and absolutely relevant.

“The first time I heard of [the movie]I knew I wanted to be there, “wrote Swayze, who played the matriarchal Vida Boheme, in his 2009 memoir, The Time of My Life.” It would be an incredible challenge to transform myself into a compelling woman and a man Drag would really stretch me. “

It was 1995, and multiple sources said Yahoo! Entertainment 20 years later, a number of Hollywood stars – out Mel Gibson and Robert Downey Jr. to John Cusack and Willem Dafoe– agreed to screen testing in Drag for the part of Vida that was cast afterwards John Leguizamo and Wesley Snipes had signed up.

“I just killed Patrick Swayze growing up in Redneck Texas, choreographing a mom and trying to figure out who I was,” Swayze later told The Attorney. “I just took this life and made it into a boy who had feminine tendencies all his life and discovered that he was. I found it very easy to identify with Vida.”

He wrote in his book that he modeled Vida Lauren Bacall, Demi Moore, Audrey Hepburn in breakfast at Tiffany’s and his mother’s choreographer, scapegoat. And of course the co-stars hung out with real drag queens.

“Spending time with these men was incredibly eye-opening,” wrote Swayze. “Not only did they have an incredible sense of humor, but they also had incredible courage. It takes cojones to be exactly what you are, especially when it is so different from what society dictates for you. “

He was now sitting on the makeup chair at 4 a.m. and had to shave five times a day to control stubble.

And Jennifer Gray doesn’t have to feel bad. The tension between Swayze and Leguizamo was high. “Finally, completely fed up, I snapped, ‘Oh god! Would you just shut up?'” Swayze wrote.

“Patrick swings. And I swing. We both in Frederick’s of Hollywood,” Leguizamo wrote in Pimps, Hos, Playa Hatas and All the Rest of My Hollywood Friends. “I wear hot pants. He’s wearing damn pumps … They break up before we can start pulling each other’s hair and scratching our eyes out. “

How To Discover Out Why Your Canine Is Aggressive – And What To Do About It

0

American culture is dog obsessed. Cozy, fluffy, loyal, and fun, these animals are everywhere on our social media feeds and in our homes. But if your dog, a typical cuddly dog, gets aggressive, this can come as a surprise. The reality of a snarling, biting dog doesn’t match the adorable pads we see on Instagram or the lovable companions strewn across tearful movies.

You are not alone if your dog is occasionally – or even regularly – aggressive, but you need to get assistance and find out what is going on before someone gets hurt.

Stand by the problem, but don’t be ashamed

When your dog first becomes aggressive, you have a problem. Dog behavior expert Christina Shusterich, owner of NY Clever K9, advises Lifehacker that immediate action is required the first time your dog trades and advises you to see a professional. Tips from eye-catching television personalities are not enough, and neither is attempts to “socialize” your pet at the local dog park.

If you don’t identify the cause and work with someone who knows how to deal with dog aggression, the problem won’t go away. You are putting yourself, other people, and other dogs at risk by downplaying the problem and insisting on getting your pup to the park. Be aware that someone could get hurt – including your dog – and there could even be legal consequences. Your landlord could force you to go out or a court could even order your dog to be euthanized.

It is imperative that you get to the bottom of the matter and seek help, but in doing that you are not minimizing what is going on.

“People will generally call me when the dog is feeling worse,” says Shusterich, who has been working on rehabilitating aggressive dogs for two decades. She regularly receives emails and calls from people who have been dealing with the problem for a long time but are still prone to downplay what was happening.

“When I get an email, I’ve learned to read between the lines,” she says. “’Sipping’ is biting, so that’s one way people minimize it. Another option is to just leave things out. You will say your dog is getting “excited”. You will use many such euphemisms. “

She said the majority of dog owners downplay their pet’s behavior or just lie, and that doesn’t help an expert figure out what’s going on – or prevent it from escalating. Shusterich makes it clear that despite what some high profile trainers might say on TV, a dog’s aggressive behavior is not the owner’s fault, so get that thought out of your mind. Get rid of your shame and embarrassment now. You didn’t cause that. (We’ll go into some of the factors that likely occurred in a minute.)

“Aggression is not debatable,” she adds. “According to your posters and actions – this has been investigated for years – this is an aggressive dog. There’s no way around it. That’s one of the first things I tell my customers. “

The other thing Shusterich tells you? “An aggressive dog is not the opposite of a good dog. Every dog has aggression. Everyone has aggression. “

Find out what is causing the problem

“Dogs are not aggressive around the clock,” says Shusterich. “There are certain times when they are aggressive.”

She highlights resource conservation, stranger aggression, and leash aggression as three typical cases in which dogs can act. You can recognize aggression by your dog’s body language, which is not human, but predictable. Watch how your dog behaves, whether it stiffens and stares, stands on end, shows its teeth, or snaps its teeth in the air. Obviously, every bite is aggression, and Shusterich is well aware that a bite is a bite, whether it breaks the skin or not.

Your dog may not have each of these traits, and she notes that simply staring at it isn’t aggression in and of itself. Pay attention to stiffness and “the hard look”, for example when you are walking your dog and see another handler walking towards you. Your job is to be attentive and read body language, be aware of behaviors and postures, and report them honestly when you contact a behaviorist.

It is normal to give your dog an edge when in doubt or, like so many, minimize what you see. Check out other dog owners in your area. Pay attention to their body language. If they pull their dog away from your dog, what threat will they realize that it is not you? Is it “the hard look” or raised fur? Does your dog bar its teeth with the other pet? Aggression on a leash is especially common in urban settings, Shusterich says, so keep that in mind.

What to do – and not to do

We have already established that your dog’s aggression is not your fault. The real cause depends on a number of factors.

“There are critical development phases in a dog’s life [and] the most critical ones are when they are puppies, ”says Shusterich. “They shouldn’t be weaned until eight weeks, and up to 15 weeks is the time it takes to get them used to other dogs, people, sights, sounds, noises – anything. Then you fight the tide. It’s not that it can’t be fixed, but that time is over. ”

Shelters and stores can and will lie to you about how early a dog was weaned or whether the puppy was isolated in its formative weeks. Sometimes they don’t even know. Unless you were there when the puppy was born and saw with your own eyes he was suckled and properly socialized for eight weeks – aggression.

“Socialization,” says Shusterich, is “one of those Internet phrases that mean nothing”. Bringing an aggressive 2-year-old dog to a park won’t socialize the animal, but “will put the other dogs at risk and make the behavior problem much worse,” she warns.

“Why shouldn’t it? It’s not a socialization time. There is a way to fix that, but you need to use a technique called systematic desensitization and counter-conditioning, a proven behavior modification technique that is a science that has been around for a long time, “she says.

What you can do now

Aside from attempted socializations, Shusterich has heard of some ferocious methods that have tried to make their pets less aggressive, including using “a dog’s helicopter” or swinging around to show them who’s in charge. But your dog is not a threat to be violated; They act this way because of emotions, mostly fear and something that might have happened to them when they were puppies.

It should go without saying, but please don’t helicopter your dog. See a behaviorist and be completely honest about what is going on. You’ve seen all of this before, even if you haven’t seen it on social media with your friends posting about their seemingly well behaved companions. Nobody advertises if their pet is not perfect, but that doesn’t mean it’s unusual.

What you can do now is minimize the risk. Don’t force an aggressive dog to walk past another dog on the street. Keep a dog with stranger-aggressive behavior away from guests, even if the dog is whining or begging guests to see them. Do not reinforce the fear that your pet is already feeling in the situations in which it has shown that it is uncomfortable. It’s cruel to the dog, dangerous to everyone else, and a real burden on you.

You committed to this dog when you got it and don’t forget that. If you can’t afford a behaviorist or don’t want to be molested, don’t leave your baby in a cage all day or drop the chips where they can and give him the freedom to actually bite someone, which will result could cause considerable harm to that person as well as to the euthanized dog. If the aggression is greater than you think you will be able to cope with, be as honest about your own feelings and behavior as you are about the dog’s.

For a fee you can to give up Bringing a dog to a special shelter, and while losing his or her person can hurt your pet, it may be your best option when you’re not ready or able to do what needs to be done – and to pay for it. Don’t be selfish. Let this dog have every chance of a good life. If you live in an urban center and work long hours but your dog is aggressively on a leash, he may need to be in a place where he doesn’t need to be kept on a leash just to use the toilet. If there is no other way to resolve the problem, it is your responsibility to safely and responsibly bring them into the care of knowledgeable, compassionate people who can get them there.

As Shusterich says, a dog’s aggression does not disqualify it from being a “good dog”. Your dog needs help and guidance, a scientific approach from an expert, and all the love you can give.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, who fled his country when the capital Kabul was overtaken by Taliban fighters, is now in the United Arab Emirates, the UAE government has confirmed.

“The United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation can confirm that the United Arab Emirates welcomed President Ashraf Ghani and his family to the country on humanitarian grounds,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement early Wednesday evening local time.

Ghani left Afghanistan on Sunday evening with no announcement or clear reporting on where he was going. When the Taliban entered the presidential palace and declared the war “over”, Ghani said he had fled to prevent “a flood of bloodshed”.

“The Taliban won the judgment of their swords and weapons and are now responsible for the honor, property and self-preservation of their compatriots,” said Ghani.

Taliban forces made a series of formidable forays across the country of 39 million after the Biden administration announced the full withdrawal of US forces by the end of August.

After 20 years of war and US training and equipping the Afghan military, the Taliban were able to declare complete control of the country within 10 days of capturing their first provincial capital.

20 film trailers which are higher than the film itself

The movie trailer has an art, although not everyone who builds a trailer is an artist. The best thing to do is tell us a story about the movie we’re supposed to watch, to tell us exactly why we’re spending our precious movie dollars and running to the movies for a few hours (and / or throwing $ 30 Disney + for an evening) .

For a great movie, you can simply put together some of the movie’s most impressive shots, behind which a haunting version of a pop song is playing and voilà – bum in the seats. However, a movie that isn’t meant to become an instant classic may require a little more artistry. Sometimes it’s about finding a point of view from which the film works and getting involved with it. And sometimes there is a thorough deception to suggest that the film will be something completely different from what it actually is.

Here are some really great trailers from movies that are restless, deeply headstrong, niche, or just plain bad.
