President Joe Biden’s Covid-19 Response Team holds a press conference Wednesday on the coronavirus pandemic that infected more than 27 million Americans and killed at least 488,100 people in just over a year.

On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki announced that the Biden administration is increasing the number of Covid-19 vaccine doses sent weekly to states, shipping 13.5 million doses this week and doubling the number of pharmacies sold to pharmacies.

Biden is trying to speed up the pace of vaccinations in the US as quickly as possible. Around 39.7 million out of roughly 331 million Americans have received at least their first dose of Pfizer’s or Moderna’s two-dose vaccines, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And 15 million of those people have already got their second shot.

Use a tin funnel to neatly serve soups and stews

I don’t present myself as someone who is unduly concerned with the plating or displaying, but I absolutely despise splashes on the side of my soup bowl, at least until I start eating my soup. Sure, you could “wipe them away”, but that can leave a trailing smear of soup, stew, or chilli, which is almost worse.

Maybe it’s because I have to snap lots of photos of soups and stews, but smears and splashes have been a constant source of anger for a while now. And if you’re like me – similarly annoyed with bowls with messy sides – I have a solution: use a can funnel.

Illustration for item titled Use a tin funnel to neatly serve soups and stews

I’m not a scanner, but I like putting things into jars and a can funnel allows me to put things into those jars without any splash, splatter, or dribble. Simply place the funnel in the bowl, scoop soup / stew / chilli / etc. into the funnel, then pull the funnel away and the soup / stew / chilli / etc. will fall into the center of the bowl without messing the edges. Here I have some pictures of Chicken Chili to demonstrate the technique:

Step 1: Put the funnel in the bowl and the food in the funnel

Step 2: Remove the can funnel by lifting it straight up

The place is the cash from fines getting into Singapore ?, Cash Information

0

Fines are often used in Singapore as a deterrent to enforce rules and laws. Anyone, including legal entities, can be fined as a fine for breaking a law or rule.

Some examples of fines in Singapore that have contributed to our reputation as a “fine city” are the fine for bringing fruit (durian) on public transport, smoking from certain areas, mosquito breeding on your property, and being naked Home.

Fines can only be imposed by ministries, statutory bodies and courts (state bodies). With all of these fines imposed by the various authorities, some of us may wonder who and where the money raised is going to.

Who collects the fines in Singapore?

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) is not the only one imposing fines in Singapore. Depending on the jurisdiction, the competent authorities will impose and collect the appropriate fines. Similar offenses can fall under different authorities.

For example, parking fees may be imposed by the SPF, Housing Development Board (HDB), Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), and National Parks Board (NPark) depending on the area in which the vehicle is parked.

Aside from parking fees, here are some of the common fines Singaporeans may face and the relevant authorities responsible for such penalties.

Competent Authorities Fines Payment modes
MUMMY
  • Endangering the health and safety of workers or persons
  • Safe distancing measures in offices
  • Discriminatory attitude
Depending on the amount and the criminal offenses charged, here are the possible channels for paying fines:

  • Personally
  • Online portal
  • SingPost
  • AXS machines
  • Check
  • cashbox
  • Online banking
FROM
  • Over speeding
  • Park
  • Bring durian into public transport
  • ERP
NEA
  • Mosquito breeding ground
  • rubbish
  • Smoking outside the designated area
  • Safe distancing
SPF
  • Traffic offenses
  • Selling chewing gum
  • Ride an e-scooter
  • Be a public nuisance
Courts (Supreme Courts and State Courts)

In the event that a fine is imposed on you and you have not paid the relevant authorities on time, you may receive a reminder with an additional fine for late payment or, in the worst case, be charged with an arrest warrant and charged in court, depending on the Gravity of the offense.

What happens to the fines you pay?

Once the fines are collected, the fines will be lifted and passed on to the consolidated fund. As can be seen from the NEA law, article 46, fines are collected and paid to the consolidated fund.

The Consolidated Fund, which is quoted from the Singapore Parliament, is part of the government’s revenue and therefore fines.

old

Based on the Singapore Constitution, Article 145, the consolidated funds (with the fines) are turned over to the Ministry of Finance (MOF) for budget use.

For example, if we search the revenue breakdown for the Singapore fiscal year 2009 budget, we can see that fines among fines and rejections are part of the sub-component of government operating income.

old

The amount of fines and forfeiture has been estimated at $ 326 million and the eventual contribution to Singapore’s government revenue is less than 0.3 percent.

Each look it’s good to see from Fall / Winter 2021 Vogue Week

0

The best-dressed season has started again.

Of course, we’re talking about Fashion Week – or let’s say Fashion Month – the semi-annual season when designers post their latest creations on catwalks in fashion capitals around the world while photographers, editors, and influencers capture every moment for fans at home to see.

With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, things have been very different in the fashion world recently. After the virus hit the world a year ago, some designers refrained from showing it as soon as the fall came, rethinking the traditional schedule, while others took new technological avenues for their work to debut. While expectations for fashion week last season were a little more unclear given the unprecedented time, designers are pushing this new normal – which has become a mix of personal (masked and socially distant, of course) and virtual shows.

This time the official calendar includes popular brands such as Christian Siriano, Tom Ford, Oscar de la Renta and Jason Wu.

Russia and China wish to strengthen international affect

LONDON – International diplomacy is likely to determine who gets access to coronavirus vaccines in the coming months, analysts told CNBC. Countries like Russia and China use one of the most sought-after commodities in the world to advance their own interests abroad.

It is hoped that the introduction of Covid-19 vaccines could help end the pandemic. While many countries have not yet started vaccination programs, even high-income countries face a supply shortage as manufacturers struggle to stimulate production.

Russia and China made the distribution of face masks and protective equipment to hard-hit countries a central principle of diplomatic relations last year. Now both countries are taking a transactional approach to the delivery of vaccines.

Agathe Demarais, Global Forecasting Director at the Economist Intelligence Unit, told CNBC over the phone that Russia, China and, to a lesser extent, India are betting on providing Covid vaccines to emerging or low-income countries to advance their interests.

“Russia and China have been doing this for a long, long time … especially in emerging markets because they feel that traditional Western powers have withdrawn from those countries,” Demarais said.

“In the past we have seen China launch the Belt and Road Initiative, when in fact it still does. We have seen Russia do a number of things, especially in the Middle Eastern countries with nuclear power plants has undertaken, and vaccine diplomacy is new brick all over the building in its attempt to build its global reputation. “

Vaccination timeline

That strategy is likely to lead Russia and China to cement long-term presence in countries around the world, Demarais said, noting that the fundamental importance of vaccines to the population will make it “super, super difficult” for countries in the future to withstand diplomatic pressure.

The problem for Moscow and Beijing, however, is that “there is a big, big chance” that they both promise too much and deliver too little, she added.

Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine and China’s Sinopharm and Sinovac vaccines have already started rolling out globally. A total of 26 countries, including Argentina, Hungary, Tunisia and Turkmenistan, have approved the Russian Covid vaccine. China’s customers include Brazil, Indonesia, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.

According to analysts, both Russia and China have typically signed supply contracts that strengthen existing political alliances. However, production problems with western-made vaccines could be an incentive for some non-traditional allies to look to Moscow and Beijing.

Russia and China are currently unable to meet their respective home markets’ vaccine needs and continue to export to countries around the world. Production is the main hurdle to this challenge, while many high-income countries have pre-ordered more cans than they need.

We don’t currently have a system at international level to ensure, for example, that you can adjust the effectiveness of the vaccine to the variant in which a variant is in circulation.

Suerie Moon

Co-Director of GHC at the Graduate Institute Geneva

A report released last month by the Economist Intelligence Unit forecast that most of the adult populations in advanced economies would be vaccinated by the middle of next year. In contrast, this period extends to early 2023 for many middle-income countries and even until 2024 for some low-income countries.

It highlights the global mismatch between supply and demand and the wide gap between high and low income countries when it comes to access to vaccines.

Last month, the World Health Organization’s top official warned that the world was on the verge of “catastrophic moral failure” because of unequal Covid vaccination policies.

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Jan. 18 that it was clear that, even though some countries and companies speak the language of fair access to vaccines, they are still prioritizing bilateral deals, bypassing COVAX, raising prices and trying to jump up the line . “

“That’s wrong,” he added.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), speaks after Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute for Allergies and Infectious Diseases, during the 148th session of the Executive Board on the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) outbreak in Geneva, Switzerland, January 21, 2021.

Christopher Black | WHO | via Reuters

Tedros condemned what he called the “me-first” approach from high-income countries, saying it was self-destructive and endangered the world’s poorest and most vulnerable. Almost all high-income countries have prioritized the distribution of vaccines to their own populations.

When asked if there is any prospect of countries changing their so-called me-first approach following the WHO warning about vaccine diplomacy, Demarais replied, “No. It won’t happen. I’m following it very closely and it’s all very depressing . “

“The Big Challenge”

COVAX is one of the three pillars of the so-called Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator, which was introduced last April by the WHO, the European Commission and France. It focuses on equitable access of Covid diagnostics, treatments and vaccines to help less affluent countries.

Analysts have long been skeptical about how efficiently COVAX can deliver supplies of Covid vaccines to middle and low income countries around the world, despite several heads of state calling for global solidarity at the start of the pandemic.

The international aid group Medecins Sans Frontieres has described what we are seeing today in terms of global access to vaccines as “far from an image of justice”.

“The big challenge is that every time a country signs a bilateral agreement, it becomes all the more difficult to put vaccines into the multilateral pot via COVAX,” said Suerie Moon, co-director of the Global Health Center at the Graduate Institute in Geneva. said CNBC by phone.

Adding to this concern, Moon said, “We currently have no system at the international level to ensure, for example, that you can reconcile the effectiveness of the vaccine with the variant of a circulating variant.”

She cited South Africa as an impressive example. Earlier this month, South Africa suspended the launch of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine after a study raised questions about its effectiveness against a highly infectious variant first discovered in the country.

“In a rational and ethical world, South Africa would suddenly have access to vaccines that are effective against its variant, and the AstraZeneca vaccines could be sent to another part of the world that does not have that variant. That would be the rational way you do it, but we just haven’t made arrangements for this type of transaction, “said Moon.

“Ideally, something like this happens when you have strong international collaboration, but I think the reality is that it will be a mess,” she continued.

“We’re going to have vaccines that expire in some countries if they could be used elsewhere. We’re going to have vaccines effective in one place, but they’re not in the right place (and) we’re going to have excess vaccines as a security.” measure, while in another country people have nothing. “

Add French Onion Dip to your hen chilli pepper

Chilli is a perfect cold-weather food, but it’s been two whole months since the last edition of the Pan of chilli cook-offwho introduced the messy but surprisingly delicious Chilli pizza. I have excuses, of course – I was on the move and Christmas happened – but the most important thing to focus on is that we’re back with more chili and this time there is onion in it.

Illustration for article titled Add French Onion Dip to Your Chicken Chili

If I’ve learned anything from the pizza chili incident, some people have no sense of humor when it comes to chili. One man even went so far as to say that pizza chilli (or any chilli that deviates from the “con carne” format) appropriated “Texan culture,” which is one of the most Texan things I have ever read.

This guy is going to hate this, but this guy isn’t the senior food editor here so he’s not allowed to pick the chilli – I get to pick the chilli and, other than trolling, I really like a good chicken with chillies. This caught my eye for its “secret ingredient” which is Dean’s French Onion, one of my favorite dips that I bought in the store.

If you even know me, you know that I love dip, even when it comes in room temperature jars and chilled plastic tubs, and I’m already an avid supporter of using store-bought onion dips in mashed potatoes. As I explained earlier, “the emulsified oil product helps bind the hydrophilic to the hydrophobic, creating a velvety, creamy bowl of spuds with a surprisingly subtle onion flavor and just enough umami,” and I don’t understand why this isn’t the Case is do similar things in chicken chili. And it worked even better than I expected, but before we get into that, let’s take a moment to read the recipe as it was written by threedayante:

G / O Media can receive a commission

This recipe leaves a lot open for interpretation, which makes it extremely customizable. It’s also very easy to break up, so you don’t have to do it all at once. I prepped the chicken first and baked it in 24 ounces of garlic and herb noodle sauce with 1/2 teaspoon of cumin, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. I then let it sit in the fridge overnight and prepared the rest of the chilli the next day.

I caramelized the onions as directed, but when I added the garlic I found that I wasn’t there and – due to a lot of snow – couldn’t get any more, so I added another 1 1/2 teaspoons of garlic powder to the tomato sauce as well more cumin, more cayenne pepper, and some black pepper (all to taste). I added the beans, let them get hot, then added enough deans dip to make them “look orange and lovely” (about half a cup). I stirred until all the little white dip streaks were gone, brought it to a boil and flavored it, then added more cumin and cayenne pepper.

Illustration for article titled Add French Onion Dip to Your Chicken Chili

I took the chicken out of the fridge, chopped it into bite-sized pieces, and tossed it (along with the pan juices) into the pot. Then I let it simmer and reduced it for about 15 minutes before covering it, cooling it, and letting it sit in the fridge overnight as is my habit.

Folks, I’m happy to report that this chili is delicious and the onion dip is a certifiable hack. The Dean gives it a creamy, luscious body and – thanks to our friend MSG – a little extra dash of umami, but it’s so shockingly subtle that you wouldn’t know it was there unless someone told you to. The chicken was just as tender as promised and stayed tender even when I reheated the leftovers in the microwave.

Whenever I have a review of this chilli recipe, I wish the ingredients were listed beforehand, if only because it would have made writing my shopping list a little easier. But I appreciate the lack of chilli regulations and its own adventurous spirit of this recipe, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good chicken chilli. Chili should be fun and few things should scream “fun!” as loud as onion dip.

Elizabeth Holmes resists authorities efforts to explain her way of life as CEO

Elizabeth Holmes’ attorneys strongly opposed the government’s attempts to describe her flamboyant lifestyle in front of a jury, saying the move “risks creating class bias” that are irrelevant to her criminal trial.

Holmes, who faces a dozen fraud charges, earned a salary and accomplishments commensurate with her position as CEO of Theranos, her attorneys wrote in court documents filed late Tuesday.

The government has argued that Holmes’ high-flying lifestyle was fueled by their fraud.

Your lawyers say this is just wrong.

They write that the evidence says nothing about their motive. “If so, a CEO could be said to have a motive for cheating. Rather, the real value of the evidence to the government is to paint a (misleading) picture of Ms. Holmes as a woman, fashion, one prioritized luxury lifestyle and fame and invited a referendum on startup and corporate culture. “

Introducing details of Holmes’ expenses, her lawyers wrote, would be a waste of time, adding that her so-called luxury travel accommodations appear to be approved by the Theranos board and justified by a full itinerary.

“Evidence of the purchase of expensive clothing, makeup, self-care products, and other goods (none of which are allegedly beyond their means) that the government is seeking to introduce through otherwise irrelevant emails from Ms. Holmes’ staff to assistants does not constitute a motive for fraud firm, “wrote Holmes’ lawyers, adding that instead they” are trying to ignite by invoking stereotypes of class and gender “.

Holmes often wore a black turtleneck, an image she cultivated in the print and broadcast media. Her attorneys point out that much of her clothing was bought for work events, adding, “The government ignores the criticism of Ms. Holmes for wearing the same outfit every day.”

Holmes’ attorneys argue that their motive for making money as CEO is “a proposal that can apply to anyone, poor or rich”.

Last month, prosecutors said the fact that Holmes received a variety of benefits, both tangible and intangible, “tends to show that she wanted to cheat in order to obtain those benefits”.

Holmes, a Stanford dropout, had a six-figure salary and a billion dollar stake in Theranos until the company closed in 2018.

One of the issues that emerged in the extensive government files was that Holmes was more motivated by money and fame than revolutionizing the healthcare industry.

So you may prepare in your house

Person preparing to exercise at homePhoto: Friends Stock (Shutterstock)

Home exercise is convenient, but it can be noisy. You can jump and stomp in a fitness dance class or even as much as you like Drop dumbbells if you are in the right type of gym. But at home, your downstairs neighbors or your sleeping toddler may not agree. Instead, adapt your training to suit your environment.

Look for low impact workouts

Many training videos are labeled “low impact” to help protect the knees of people who have trouble walking or jumping without pain. But since they’re mostly just doing the hopping movements, they’re also great if you’d rather step in place than jump up and down.

Some dance and HIIT videos offer low impact exercise options (such as getting on and off a lunge rather than doing lunges, for example). Once you’ve seen some of the typical changes you can bring them to any video you watch.

Exercise in a carpeted room

If you have a carpeted room, this is usually covered with extra padding. These layers help muffle the sounds of your feet kicking around or your dumbbells clinking on the floor.

G / O Media can receive a commission

Whether you have a rug or not, you can add mats too. Robust rubber mats can provide a solid stand on the carpet. And if you need to exercise on a hardwood floor, soft foam mats can absorb bumps and noise.

Wear headphones

We often think of headphones that you can wear to the gym, but you can also use them for home training. Bluetooth headphones are great for following a video with music or a loud teacher cheering you on.

If you have a sleeping baby or partner in the next room, work on their listening environment too. Set up a white noise machine so that it can block out any quiet noises you are still making.

Wear socks

Even when trying to be calm, it is easy to forget about yourself and stomp on the floor while doing exercises. However, in socks you have tactile feedback. Without the muddy sole of a sneaker, you pedal a little quieter, of course.

Find a soft place to put weights on

Lifting weights is pretty quiet; It sets them down from what can be loud. So when you lift something off the floor, focus on putting it down as gently as possible.

However, it’s easy to forget to be calm as you drop your weights to move on to the next exercise. So designate a place to put your weights in between sets. This could be a folded yoga mat or even a milk box with a pillow. Get used to it and you will eliminate one of the biggest causes of accidental exercise noise.
