In these troubled times, I wonder which of the two titles is used the most. I see small businesses fail on a daily basis and supermarkets, soccer games, soccer and basketball can continue to sell and play. Our local restaurant followed all of the protocols set out by the CDC and the governor. They all wore a mask, they cleaned every table, menu and spice container after someone touched them. They closed the tables to enforce social distancing and yet they closed. Why?
I think that’s because money speaks. They could have stayed open thanks to the efforts of the owner and staff of our local small businesses. Department stores and sports have the revenue to do them, even though sports are practiced without a mask and without social distancing. Department stores require a mask but don’t enforce social distancing. What did this state and this country come for? For me and others I’ve spoken to, common sense has trumped the almighty dollar.
